4462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE VIEW OF SOME PEOPLE OVER BITCOIN on: May 05, 2023, 12:48:34 AM
I would even say that there are 5 types of attitudes towards BTC:
1. Denial.
2. Scepticism.
3. Interest.
4. Confidence.
5. Bitcoin evangelism.

You may not be wrong with this logic, but I think points 3-5 are just the same thing, because first you need to pick interest, and after you have really gotten a good understanding or experience, you will be more confident, after which you will want to let others know and enjoy the benefits of Bitcoin, which first is true decentralization. Also, those who are skeptical about Bitcoin will not buy the idea of having to deal with it (denial). But you did not mention those who have misconceptions about Bitcoin; their misconceptions may be due to some economic lies or some bad experience they or their friends have had with some shitcoins in the past. The truth is that everyone doesn't really need to have a good view of Bitcoin for it to exist. Bitcoin will remain unchanged from what it is, and before some people realize they were wrong about Bitcoin, it might have been too late.

I think 3 to 5 are different.  This entails the level of trust of a person.  Interest doesn't mean the persoh has trust on the Bitcoin Industry.  It just got the person's attention and pique the person curiosity, there is no level of trust in this situation.

Confidence on the other hand shows that the person trusted the Bitcoin Industry and he is sure that nothing will go wrong partaking in the Bitcoin economy. while Bitcoin Evangelism shows the person's dedication to propagating Bitcoin.  It is more than a trust factor because the person even dedicates his time and endeavor to spread awareness about Bitcoin.

Btw, you forget about Bitcoin maximalism.  They are the view that Bitcoin as the only cryptocurrency and digital asset that will have – and should have, right now – any meaningful value.  They see Bitcoin as only one true coin[1].

[1] https://zondaglobal.com/en/blog/bitcoin-maximalism-what-is-it

Bitcoin maximalism believers are unrealistically living in a fantasy world 🌍 that does not have much if any chance of ever happening. They are likely the most harmful toxic force against BTC that will ever happen.

Star Wars sucks.

Proud to say I have not watched any Disney plus Star Wars crap.

Same here, although I like the first 6 movies, I feel like everything they made after that was capitalizing on the culture with toys, legos, and throwing bad scripts and screenplay at people, hoping they'll want to introduce their children to the saga they watched as kids in the 80s and 90s. On the other hand, these Disney people know how to make money because kids don't want to see actors anymore. All they want is CGI and dolby atmos, which is why Marvel is making so much money with the crap they're making.

The great thing about having your own 'head canon' of certain Universe franchises is that you can mentally include what you liked and exclude what you didn't.

For me:

Star Wars = First 6 movies + Rogue One + Clone Wars show +(some of the EU/Legends novels)

Matrix = First movie (the others were an abomination and don't exist) The fourth was mediocre, 2 bad, 3 terrible

Terminator = First and Second movies only

Alien = First and Second movies only  Maybe at alien vs predator I gave up

etc., etc.

Pretty good we are holding steady despite the destructive apocalyptic nature of neocons in charge and leeches such as Jamie Demon destroying the retail fiat banking sector.

I want to believe that the world economy won’t dive into a deep recession but I’m still not convinced. The only reason I care if it does is because bitcoin will crash too. We’re still at a stage where we follow stocks & react to black swan events etc. Look what happened when COVID first hit, we nuked.

So here’s hoping for the FED to stop raising rates, banks to stop capitulating so the buds of financial Spring begin to show to allow us a raging bitcoin bull market in 2024 & 2025.

The world will not dive into a recession, not a long one anyway. But I can assure you it won't matter because the intervention required to continue, and keep making this mess worse than before, will lift markets of all types to new highs in no time. To the 99% the recovery will feel like a recession anyway as prices for everything become more out of reach than before. But hey, at least the governments and economies will continue to function though right.

A recession they can avoid, a functional monetary system they can never achieve.

Sure there might be another covid type crash but just like last time it will be a generational buying opportunity.

They don't want it.  They want a system that favors the top one or two million people in the world and fuck everyone else.

A strong driving middle class terrifies them thus they do their best the hurt the guy or girl with a few extra dollars.

Biggest is only 192629 bytes - only 6 above 180000 bytes, so they must be mostly '1' address transactions, not NFTs

For now, I believe most Ordinals users have been efficient in making their transactions by paying only 1 to 3 SATs per byte, just as how Bitcoin should be if all of the participants in the network are rational.

Plus any theories why mining power has been reaching ATH every month for the year? Many people will say that "the miners follow the price". But I have another theory, "the miners are also speculators". Some miners are probably mining Bitcoin to currently HODL and wait for a better price?

Sure I do it all the time. I am a small commercial farmer maybe 160kwatts.

I mine multiple coins and hodl profits. At current prices the only way I spend BTC is buying new gear to grow the mine. Even though btc price is meh gear prices dropped. So using low priced btc to buy low priced ming gear is good.

If not hold the btc.

 Cool

That's bullish coming from a person who knows the idiosyncrasies of the Bitcoin ecosystem. Plus what do the large mining farm operators know that they would be prepared to invest more money to increase hashing power if it's not another surge for Bitcoin and the super cycle?

If the miners are mining and HODLing more, mere plebs should also start buying and HODLing more.

yeah

new jump soon

I’m looking forward to seeing how this all looks and your feedback once it’s installed. I just wish the cooler could operate in a little warmer temperatures. If it could handle being in 120 degrees then it would be absolutely perfect for operating out here in the desert. I hope these products continue to evolve.

These Octotank folks seem to be focusing on home-style coolers only, so I wouldn't be expecting much from them, however, there are many other solutions for places like deserts > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V--cCFr6ng8

Still waiting I would like to get it by May 5th

Did they give you any valid reasons for this months-long delay?

Let me look at last email they sent me.

this is dated April 18th:

Hi Philip!

Thank you for your support! I'm happy to hear that you have used our GPU rigs previously and were satisfied with them.
We will be having an update shortly regarding Octotank 12. We did several improvements and upgrades on the product that make it more versatile to use and easier to ship. We will be doing an update with the exact details and shipping dates within the week.

Happy to work more closely with you regarding your plans to sell them to your solar array customers. Alex from our team can help schedule a call for next week, so we can discuss it in more detail.

Best Regards,

My answer was :
   Harry,
Thank you for your reply. I sent a cc to my partner and will contact him via a phone call today. Once we test and demo the cooler we can determine if and when we make it available to our solar customers as a home heater and water heater.

Best regards

Philip Arcario

Another US rate hike and we will see another one in the UK next Thursday.

How many more banks will be gobbled up by Jamie Demon's evil fiat banking empire before the inevitable economic collapse?

BTC will do what the hell it wants. But it certainly looks like it will be the only life raft left whilst government leaders pretend their own inflated creations (bloated governments) can survive and still grow more.

Well it is not a banking crisis it is an intentional action where banks are intentionally being crushed.

My long time retired banker buddy has told me 10-15 more will fail and the fed will likely push as high as

6% via a jun july sept and maybe oct jump all at .25%

A lot has to do with 3.5 trillion being entrusted to long term care insurance.

They will be more bailed out if we go to 6% vs the 5% we are at.

Look into fed long term care and see that it shut off new customers. Now that they can buy higher interest fed bonds they will be able to take new customers.
So once fed long term care allows more customers to join we may see the pivot.

You won’t  find this info  in many spots. But it is a big factor in what is happening. Think magic shows a pretty girl or loud noise gathers you attention so the magician can do the trick.

Ie inflation allows them the excuse to raise rates while reallity is they are bailing out the long term insurance care companies.

But I get the idea, I don't think it will do you any good, in fact, it could have a negative impact as those walls could trap the heat there and cause the miner to overheat, I'd say just make enough space between them, even better to space them with other low-power gears like your L3s, keep them clean and they will run just fine, I ran these monsters in 45c amp temp at my previous small farm which had terrible cooling, and they are still running, these are not the average Bitmain gears that would break easily.

Not saying you should toast them, but I see nothing wrong with the current temps.

that is easier I can do that.

Correct. Here, I've shown How to run a Bitcoin Core full node for under 50 bucks.
I would probably recommend laptops for this purpose; on one hand, they're not made to run 24/7 and a desktop / tower PC may be better suited, but on the other hand you don't need to get peripherals and you get a mini built-in 'UPS'.

I went quick when I search ebay.

But those
 lenovo tiny
dell

they are brick shit houses over built.

many allow for two interior drives. All you need do is download one blockchain one time.

you can clone the ssd three or four times for back up.

You can buy 2 identical pcs

New image all four units in the asic room nice voltages but space is a bit hot.

Actually, temps are not bad at all; fans are running at 5k rpm, which is not 100% since that is 7k rpm; the max temp for the hashboard is 80 c, which you are still 10 degrees away from; so unless the outside temperature increases by another 5-7 c, I do not see a problem.

One thing to know about whatsminer vs. other miners is that the miner's case is designed to get rid of heat, think of it as a large heatsink. You will notice they are hot to touch from the outside, unlike most other gears, so they cannot be stacked too close to one another. I prefer to keep 5 cm of space between them to allow the chasis to get rid of the heat easier.

Actually, judging by the Envtemp of the four miners, you can guess which two are located in the middle.

I was considering putting this between units.

that would space the units say 3 inches and have a wall in-between the units.

I know my cold side is very cold so if a bit of air moves between the units it should work.

I think I can build three walls for 12 dollars

With just a bit over a day left for this epoch to finish, it's very likely to end up with a small negative adjustment, maybe not enough to wipe out the previous 1.7% jump but pretty close, meanwhile, the price is at 28.5k, the good/bad thing (depends on how you look at it) is that fees have been incredibly high for the last blocks, I saw 1.8 BTC fee block earlier, many blocks were above 1BTC in fees, I think the average for the past 24 hours is pretty close 1BTC per block.

yeah block fees are great. yeah ordinals and NFTS!
