What a shocking start it was! Just as I expected, the race started with a high competition between Verstappen and Hamilton for the 1st place. Verstappen defended him really well until a point. But they had a huge crash and Verstappen was through the barriers unfortunately. Hamilton got a 10 sec penalty for that but I still think that it was Verstappen's fault. Verstappen just pushed his luck too much there.

Now, Leclerc is still leading the race. He has a decent gap with Hamilton (2 sec). The pit strategies will be really important. If Ferrari does a strong pit stop with Leclerc, I think that Leclerc has a really big chance to even win the race.

To be honest, I don't like to see Milan still signing quite old players. But on the other hand, we have an Ibrahimovic example also. He is 39 years old now. He scored 15 goals in 19 games in the Serie A in the last season. As long as Ibrahimovic and Giroud are productive, it shouldn't be too much problem for them. But I'd really like to see Milan signing young and talented strikers. I assume that they will start doing it after we leave the new season behind. They actually have Rafael Leao who is 22 years old. But he didn't have a decent season I think. Having 6 goals and 6 assists in 30 league games is not very impressive to me.

The latest news, Tottenham says that Harry Kane will not leave they assured that Kane would stay at Tottenham, on the other hand, Man City still has options, one of which is signing Lewandowski of course Kane is the main target because he is younger and has a future. For me these two players have the same potential.

Kane's decision will play a really big role on this. Some time ago, Kane stated clearly that he wanted to leave. I wonder if he is still very decisive about it. If it's the situation, Tottenham can't keep him at the team this summer. It could even affect Kane's performance badly in the new season if Tottenham don't let him go.

If City don't sign him, there are some top strikers like Haaland and Lewandowski also. I guess they will reach an agreement with one of these 3 players in this summer.

According to today's news on BBC Sport, Chelsea are hoping to sign Bayern Munich's wonderful striker Robert Lewandowski. There are some speculations like they will make an offer valued £50m to him. The 32-year-old player has a contract with Bayern running until 2023. And I'm very sure that he's still quite happy there. Therefore, I think that Chelsea won't be able to succeed in this effort.

It was a hell of a game last night! To be honest, I was expecting Suns to defeat Bucks in this one but Bucks really surprised me. But it was a really close and competitive game that's for sure. Booker scored 40 points. Paul and Ayton made a double-double. But this was not enough for a win (119-123). There was a really great teamwork at Bucks in this game. Giannis got 32 points, Middleton got 29 points and Holiday got 27 points. This is a really good point distribution between the best players of the team. This played a big role on this win also.

Now that Bucks are 3-2 ahead in the series, I can't wait to see the next game. It's in Milwaukee this time and I wonder if Bucks will be able to finish the job. But I feel like the series will be 3-3 after that.

When it comes to the "Which team would become the champions in the 21/22 season?" question, I can answer that as "Manchester City". If they sign even Harry Kane this summer, they will be literally unstoppable. Their system runs like clockwork. They won the EPL title in the last season thanks to this system of theirs. I appreciate Guardiola really much for that. It's not easy to make a comeback and reach the title here. It's the EPL we're talking about. I think it's the hardest and toughest league in the world.

https://www.transfermarkt.com/tottenham-and-sevilla-agree-kounde-deal-player-rejects-transfer/view/news/389238

According to Transfermarkt, Tottenham and Sevilla agreed on Jules Kounde deal but the player rejected it. It's not hard to predict the reason why. Because Tottenham are in the Europa Conference League now but Sevilla have qualified for the Champions League. Why would he want to go to Tottenham in the end? He should be happy at Sevilla now. But if an offer comes from big teams in the future, I've no doubt that he'd be keen on going there. For example, Sevilla rejected a €55m offer from Manchester City before. I guess he'd like to play there.

@tokeweed  Vettel was actually very close to Alonso (there was like a 0.5 sec gap). But he didn't push more than that and Alonso kept his place. It was really unfortunate for Perez. He went outside the track but managed to turn back to the race. But I assume that he broke something in the car and he lost his speed. And the team decided to retire the car before the end of the race. What a nightmare that is!

Verstappen did a really good job just as I expected. He had a really good start and kept his place till the end. His pace was so awesome that Hamilton wasn't able to catch up with him. If you look closely to the start, Verstappen's brakes were just burning.  Cheesy  I was afraid that he was going to have a big problem but fortunately nothing serious happened. I can't wait to see the race. I think that we'll watch a great competition between Verstappen and Hamilton in the race.

Something has attracted my attention really much. Considering the big teams, Chelsea, Manchester Utd and Manchester City all are after talented players. But Liverpool are not making an effort to bring top players to the team now. They shouldn't be just okay with their squad now. There are some positions that must really be strengthened as soon as possible. And their number one target should be a top CF. Salah and Mane are more than okay but they would complete the trio with a really good CF.

I assume that Barcelona won't have much transfer budget left after finishing the Messi deal. They couldn't even meet Messi's demands but they are close to sign a contract with him as he is eager to accept the 50% pay cut. Therefore, they won't be able to sign top players for a really big amount of money unless they sell some players. They are in a really bad financial condition now.

We have left a really exciting qualifying session behind. We got really interesting results. George Russell made it to the Q3 again which was a really huge success. He is going to start at a quite good position in the sprint race tomorrow. I hope that he manages to stay in top 10 for the race. I was expecting a very competitive race for the 1st position between Hamilton and Verstappen. And they gave it to us. There was a very close gap at the end and Hamilton managed to end as the leader. I wonder what kind of a start we will watch tomorrow. I expect Verstappen to have a really aggressive start. He can still take the pole position I believe. I'm happy to see Leclerc ending at the 4th position also. If he performs good tomorrow also, he may have a really good race too.

It looks like the Varane deal between Real Madrid and Manchester United is nearly done. Maybe it's even a matter of time to make it official. Varane has one more year left on his contract. And it seems like Real Madrid won't become successful on extending it. So rather than paying a sum around €50-60m, The Red Devils would have waited for his contract to expire and then got him. But they need him now seemingly.

As it's going to be another important loss for Real Madrid, I guess they would start looking for top defenders immediately before or after selling Varane.

Now we have a really competitive series and I'm absolutely happy about it. If Bucks weren't able to turn things around, Suns were going to win the series too easily and it'd be a really boring series for us, the spectators. But Bucks have managed to make a big comeback from 2-0 to 2-2. Giannis had the biggest role in the 3rd game by scoring 41 points. But in the 4th game, Giannis were left in the shadow a little by Middleton. He just carried the team with a huge performance (40 points). Booker was also great in this game (42 points) but he couldn't prevent the loss. Now I wonder whether Bucks will manage to win 3 times in a row. Maybe the series will come to 3-3 and the last game will be really awesome to watch.

@acquafredda I'd also definitely be okay for €175m for Haaland if I were the chairman of Borussia Dortmund. For example, Neymar were sold to PSG for 222m. I've no doubt that Barcelona were really happy about this huge deal. This can be the same for Dortmund also. If this transfer happens, Haaland is going to be the second highest valued transfer so far if I'm not wrong. Chelsea are ready to take the necessary steps to have him. It's up to Dortmund now.

It's been really a boring weekend as we haven't had any race this time. I was really accustomed to it after seeing 3 races in 3 weeks in a row. But this week, we're finally going to have a race in Britain. And it's going to be a little different from the other races so far. Because we're going to see the sprint qualifying for the first time. I'm really excited about it. I believe that it will increase the joy level for the spectators and they will continue to add this format to some races. And maybe, they will start adding it to every race after a point.

Ronaldo is at the end of his career but he can provide more than 20 or even 30 goals every season. It is better than many younger players. Problems that are barriers for a transfer to another club is his salary and his ambition to win titles especially Champions League. There are not many clubs can satisfy the demand of Ronaldo.

~snip~

Yeah, he's 36 years old now but he still scores many goals in a season. For example, he scored 29 goals in 33 games in the Serie A last season. He's like he's not from our world.  Cheesy

When it comes to his probable transfer, there are some teams which can meet his criteria actually, like PSG and Manchester Utd. And to be honest, Ronaldo can have a bigger chance to win the CL title if he goes to one of these clubs. Especially PSG have a big potential for it. But if his manager becomes successful about extending his contract with Juventus, it'll be guaranteed seeing him for one more year there.

We mostly talk about where Haaland would go this summer. Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester Utd, Real Madrid... But we are missing a point here also. Dortmund really seem like they've made their decision and they don't want to sell Haaland in any case this summer. It's been only two seasons that Haaland's been playing at Dortmund. They don't want to lose him so soon.

In his first season, he scored 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga games. In the last season, he scored 27 goals in 28 Bundesliga games. He's improved himself at a very high rate in only one year. And he's only 20 years old now. Which team would like to lose a very special player like Haaland so soon in the end? Therefore, I understand Dortmund's concerns. But even if they don't sell him this summer, I don't think that they will be able to keep him at the club at the end of the next season.

What a game it was! I absolutely enjoyed it. Italy managed to find the equalizer in the second half and 90 minutes ended 1-1. After not seeing any goal in the extra time, it was time to go directly to the penalty shoot-outs. Before the game, I really wanted to see this and I got what I wanted. Both goalkeepers were really good in the penalty shoot-outs. Saka had the biggest responsibility to keep his team's hopes alive but he failed. And Italy were the winner in the Euro tournament after many many years.

I'm really sad for England as they were so close to win a title but couldn't make it. I congratulate both of these teams for putting a great effort into the game. Honestly, I think that England deserved to win the title in terms of performance in general.
4499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 11, 2021, 08:08:19 PM
I also haven't heard about this player. It's the thing Arsenal do. They bring young players to the team and try to create a 'future squad'.  Grin  But I don't support this policy to be honest. I'm not an Arsenal fan but I sympathize with them. They're actually a big club but they're not able to win titles because of their policies. If they changed it and started to get top players also, they would also compete for the EPL title. So their main problem is not the manager I think, it is their strategies in general.
It's just that Arsenal does not want to invest in strengthening the squad above a certain limit, and in the conditions of the super-competitive English Premier League, this is an iron necessity for a steady conquest of titles. Everything depends on the figure of the club owner, who is quite satisfied with the current situation and who does not want to change the situation with financing, nor shows any desire to sell the club to interested parties. If you remember, for some time the creator of Spotify expressed a desire to buy the club, having managed to attract such club legends as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Viyera to his side, but the American owner Stan Kroenke did not want to sell the club.

Yeah, it seems like Arsenal's chairman is really happy about this situation. But I don't think that fans are really happy about this. Because I think that nobody would like to see their team not using their potential. Arsenal fans should be dying to see some top players at the club from now on. But Arsenal don't care about them much. They have a certain policy and they just apply it.

For example, Ajax are a good example as they also like to grow young players and try to make them a star in the future. I support them because they can still become the champions very easily. But it's not the same for Arsenal. The EPL is the hardest league in Europe, in my opinion. Therefore, Arsenal should act according to it.

We have left the first half behind. England are still 1-0 ahead. They got ahead with Luke Shaw's goal in only the 2nd minute. It was a really shocking moment for Italy. I assume that they were expecting to keep the game balanced and to score when it's time. They did the exact same thing to Spain. But England have a great advantage right now. Italy found some goal chances but the shots were just too lazy. They must absolutely pull themselves together before the second half if they really want this title. Otherwise, England can make it 2-0 and decline Italy's hopes for a comeback.
