4481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 90 confirmations but no coins in wallet on: January 02, 2017, 08:30:30 PM
What wallet are you using? The transaction is confirmed, so the issue is with your wallet software.
4482  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: January 01, 2017, 05:10:45 PM
I used some times before and working like a charm. Unfortunately, today this project does not working anymore. I tried 4 or more times, I cleared the cache memory (I am using Firefox last version) but with no success. Does anybody faces same problem or is mine and something I have to do in order to fix it?

I get:

Quote
Share this estimate: https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=sdd40obj
Request Failed
This issue should be fixed now.

I added an indicator for SMAS blacklisting. If the account being priced is on the SMAS blacklist, it will be marked as so for both Normal and Merchant modes.

I have also fixed the posted address scanner so that it gets all posted addresses. Apparently it was not doing this before.

Is there any way to post the number of Wallet Addresses tallied up? I've posted 2,439 Wallet Addresses https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=6hvubrp8 and occasionally I use the list sorted alpha numerically to see if I've come across similar patterns of wallets eg starting 1BC9x 1Ui5M 1Rfyp 15yMq that sort of thing (all these were randomly generated as examples)

Quote
Addresses posted in non-quoted text
(May inclue addresses not actually owned by user)

eg:

Addresses posted in non-quoted text number 2,439
(May include addresses not actually owned by user)

Thanks for reading.
Done.
4483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Switch to offline wallet on: January 01, 2017, 05:07:15 PM
I still don't understand, I create the wallet on the online PC, send money from blockchain to the address of Electrum wallet, then? How can I move Bitcoins on the offline PC pratically?
As I said earlier, there is no such thing as a "Bitcoin" that is saved. What happens is that when you receive a Bitcoin, you are actually receiving an output of a transaction. That transaction output is stored in the blockchain (it is part of a transaction included in the blockchain). The output requires a valid signature from the private key which maps to your address. Therefore what you need to keep safe is your private key, and that is what goes in the offline wallet and never touches the internet. Your offline wallet has no idea what outputs belong to you, nor does it need to know that.

When you create an offline wallet, you also create watch-only wallet. This watch-only wallet only contains the public keys and the addresses so that the watch-only wallet can be online to watch for any transactions that pertain to you. You use that online watch-only wallet to watch for transaction outputs that belong to you and when you want to spend, it builds an unsigned transaction which you must take to your offline machine to sign with the private keys. Then once it is signed, you take the signed transaction back to the online machine and broadcast it.

So, I backup master private key on a safe USB?
Yes.

So, if I connect to internet Electrum the wallet is not offline, but online?
Yes
4484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost Coins on: January 01, 2017, 04:57:34 PM
No. This is a bad idea. Many people keep their Bitcoin in long term cold storage. There is no way to differentiate between those who are keeping Bitcoin in long term cold storage and those who have lost their Bitcoin. Furthermore, this would mean that coins would be confiscated and there would have to be some sort of central authority determining such recycling time which goes against Bitcoin.

This is an issue on my server. It seems that it is unable to connect to Bitcointalk as the connection keeps timing out. My server may have been IP banned by the forum accidentally.
4486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Switch to offline wallet on: January 01, 2017, 04:29:36 PM
Some things are not still clear.
How can I create a offline wallet if the PC with the offline wallet will not be ever connected to the internet?
You have to download the software on an online computer, verify the software, move it to a USB drive, and then install the software from the USB drive to your offline computer.

So, to create a "offline" (?) wallet I take this Netbook or Raspberry PI 3, connect to internet once, create an 2Factor Authentication wallet Bitcoin, backup seeds on a paper, exporte private keys on a safe crypted USB (right, or I don't need to backup exported private keys?), then I send Bitcoins from Blockchain. info to Electrum address, then I'm 100% sure?
No. You do not ever need to be online to create Bitcoin addresses. There is no need to create an account anywhere, you don't need to do that.

I still don't understand how can be offline if I create it online, this concept is not clear, I mean, the Bitcoin are saved on the PC itself, so can't be stolen if I'm cautious?
There is no such thing as a Bitcoin that is saved. All that you need are the private keys.

I can connect it to the internet btw once in a while,
No. That defeats the purpose of an offline wallet.

I'm safe here, but I wanna be 100% sure that Electrum and other sites do not own my bitcoins like online wallet do
Desktop wallet software means that the people who made the software have absolutely no control over your Bitcoin.

And I only need seeds, not private keys?
You need the private keys, but with HD (Heirarchical Deterministic) wallets, you have some sort of master private key from which all of your private keys are derived from. That master private key can take the form of a seed mnemonic.

For example, if I lose everything to access my wallet, keys (still don't know if I have to backup and don't know how they work Sad ), PC, Google Authenticator, literally everything except for the 12 words, and 10 years after I decide to restore my wallet with the 12 words, can I do that, right? I mean, so, I only need those 12 words and I'm 100% safe that I can restore my bitcoin in future or immediately
So long as there is software that supports that type of mnemonic and the same derivation process, then yes.

Also what is better Electrum or Armory as offline wallet?
Depends on your use case. If you want privacy when spending, then you should use Armory. If you want ease of use, then Electrum. Electrum supports the BIP 32 HD Wallet standard whilst Armory does not (it still uses an HD wallet though).
4487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difference Between Miners and Nodes on: December 31, 2016, 04:28:56 PM
Miners make consensus of blockchain. Full nodes are needed to spread this info about consensus to all that want to use bitcoin.
Miners do not determine consensus. They can add all the blocks that they want to the blockchain that don't follow consensus and no one has to go with those new rules. That miner will be forked off of the network by all of the full nodes who follow different consensus rules and reject that miner's blocks.

Two separate things, miners get fee for their job, full nodes are volunteers.
Miners are still full nodes. They are full nodes that do something extra and get paid for that something extra.
4488  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Passphrase rejected and Armory fails to restore backup on: December 31, 2016, 04:26:07 PM
Log files please.

P.S. - where is official help from Armory developers?
"Official" help is right here on this forum. There is only one full time Armory developer and he does not have the time nor resources to set up any other "official" help channel for tech support. Your help will come from both him and a few others here who volunteer contributions to Armory or are experienced and know Armory fairly well.
4489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difference Between Miners and Nodes on: December 31, 2016, 02:38:57 AM
Miners are a subset of nodes as all miners must be running a full node in order to mine (at least to mine properly). The nodes are what determine consensus as all nodes must agree to the same rules otherwise the nodes will fork off of the network.

Miners can add blocks to the blockchain so long as every other node on the network agrees that their block fits the consensus rules and accepts it.
4490  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory at “Building Databases 0%” for 15 hours on: December 30, 2016, 04:57:16 PM
That's what I forgot to say: this machine is 32 bit Smiley
Well there's your problem. Armory no longer supports 32-bit OSes, especially for online wallets (wallets connected to the network). Both Armory and Bitcoin Core are very resource intensive and 32 bit limits that so it is more likely to fail. Furthermore no one actually tests both Armory and Bitcoin Core on 32-bit OSes and most modern machines use 64-bit so 32-bit is rather obsolete.
4491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sharing datadir between nodes on LAN on: December 30, 2016, 05:22:57 AM
My my Bitcoin-qt datadir is on an ubuntu headless machine, and i have started and synced the blockchain from different machines (including windows) on the LAN pointing to this datadir, but never concurrently. Can another instance of bitcoin-qt be started on another computer simultaneously using the same datadir? Will any corruption take place?
Thanks in advance
No, you cannot share the datadir with multiple instances of Bitcoin Core. It will not allow you as the first instance will put a lock (lock file indicating usage) onto the datadir.
4492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to convert old coins in old wallet to new (if needed) on: December 30, 2016, 03:50:22 AM
So i turned on a old computer from 2011-2012 and i have a small amount of btc in the wallet. Should i just copy the wallet dat file over to newer client? dont want to risk anything and havent been around in a while
You will need to start Bitcoin Core with the upgrade wallet option after you copy the wallet.dat file to the data directory.
4493  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [BOUNTY] Anybody know how to brute force, no seed , no pass on: December 30, 2016, 02:40:54 AM
So dave responded, he informed me that Electrum wallets are currently unsupported, and they hope to add support before the end of the month. I spent about 3-4 hours setting up btcrecover, but when i launch it on my pc the command screen immediately closes.
You have to use it through the command line. You cannot just double click the exe file.
4494  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: My Armory Wallet has a zero balance even though I see my BC on blockchain.info on: December 29, 2016, 05:47:19 PM
Try running Bitcoin Core separately. Start Armory and uncheck the "let Armory run Bitcoin Core in the background" checkbox. Then stop Armory. Then start Bitcoin Core and then start Armory.
4495  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory at “Building Databases 0%” for 15 hours on: December 29, 2016, 05:42:18 PM
Use the latest version of Armory, 0.95.1, which can be downloaded from https://btcarmory.com/0.95.1-release/.
4496  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 is out on: December 29, 2016, 05:40:35 PM
Question: is there anyone doing QA on the new 95.1 OSX binaries?
Not particularly. IIRC goatpig does not have a mac to do testing with. There is really only one person who contributes mac stuff for Armory.

I'm facing a string concatenation error when armory tries to load on this machine. Am unsure if it's my system or armory...
AFAIK, Armory does work on Macs. It could be an issue with mac versions, I don't remember what version Armory was last tested on.

Txn: https://blockchain.info/tx/1a7d0db89beb6fa643263a9cf1c7c95646404bff37522e7be1c62bfa08962c56

till now it was showing pruned from database and now it appear again in my wallet which clearly shows "Double Spend"

Guys, show your knowledge !!
Nothing can be done. You did not actually receive any Bitcoin because it was double spent by this transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/cb2c291a8c083882c3a0eb2f43bf20c1cdba9e771ac6bb952fc200d4b274b679 That transaction is already confirmed so your transaction can never confirm. This is because both transactions spend the same Bitcoin, so only one of those transactions can confirm. Nothing can be done to make your transaction confirm.

In order for your transaction to stop appearing in your wallet, you need to find out who is rebroadcasting it and tell them to stop.
4498  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Will Blockchain.info ever get hacked? on: December 29, 2016, 05:01:54 AM
No service ever goes unhacked or not shutdown. Blockchain.info will definitely get hacked at some point and all of the (hopefully) encrypted wallet files will be stolen.
4499  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain issue - Unable to use wallet on: December 29, 2016, 04:59:27 AM
Hi,

I do have very weird issues.

Case 1)

This transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/1a7d0db89beb6fa643263a9cf1c7c95646404bff37522e7be1c62bfa08962c56

It keep pop-up in my account alternate days.It remain for around 2 days and then disappear. And when it is i can send funds to anybody but it never get confirm and finally dropped by node, as above too.
That is because you are spending from this transaction which is unconfirmed. The transactions spending from this cannot confirm until this one confirms.

Case 2)

When above get disappear ( dropped by node ) i tried to send fund it shows error: http://prntscr.com/dp5roo
I tried blockchain transfer funds option and there it shows: http://prntscr.com/dp5s3h
Someone (presumably the sender of the transaction), is constantly rebroadcasting it so it reappears in the mempools of nodes, which includes blockchain.info's node. Their node policy forgets about it eventually, but is then reminded of it by the rebroadcast.

Please help me guys, i send 2 mails to blockchain support but there was NO reply.
Blockchain.info cannot help you. You have to figure out why that transaction is not confirming first before anything can be done about it. My guess is that the transactions was double spent so it cannot ever confirm.

I don't see any method of attaching a file please advise.
Open the file. Copy and paste the contents to a new paste on http://pastebin.com/. Post the link to that paste here.
