Does the paypal email address match the one originally registered to your account? Your email has been changed by the hacker so maybe that could be used to help verify.
4482  Other / Meta / Re: Had account hacked on: October 29, 2017, 10:52:16 AM
He doesn't seem to have one posted anywhere unless they've been deleted: https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=kbcqhgae

Did you ever send one to anyone via pm? Looks like you'll have to try prove ownership via an other way if not (which could be difficult).

I could confirm with subSTRATA of a recent transaction if you check my feedback left, how would this be possible in recovering though?

You will need to sign a message from the address that was used. You can get subSTRATA to report the PM to cyrus and then send him the signed message. When was the account hacked? The older the address the better. You also have a feedback left with Mezaz   2016-02-23   0.00000000      Bought invite from seller, good seller (though that seller is banned though still lurks on others here).

Actually I did have a transaction with a legendary member on here a month ago done through pm
Awesome, if you can recall their name you could ask them for the address you sent and the PM id. That second link that I gave you is pretty straight forward to follow so give it a try. Basically find the wallet which you use for the address and follow the instructions in the link, most of the wallets on there have a step by step image guide.
Oh, I just noticed what you meant now, what if I was the buyer and he the seller? He sent the address, I didn't

But you sent him bitcoins, right? You need to provide ownership of the address that was used.

What I don't get is why aren't the admins trying to put a stop to account selling? Every day I see a bunch of people selling accounts, most of which are probably hacked.

Sadly most of them are likely hacked these days (though account selling was always a mostly shady, black market practice). I'm leaning towards it would be better just prohibiting account sales and trashing their threads to be honest. Many users aren't even selling accounts at all and will try scam people selling them in empty autobuy links. I regularly tag these people but they just come back on a new account and greedy idiots keep on falling for it.

A better solution I have suggested to combat account farming and essentially put a stop to account selling is to remove signatures from ranks completely. To get one users have to donate to the forum ie $50 for a Full Member sized signature and $100 for a Hero-sized one + other perks. If this was the only way people could get a signature it would stop account farming and account sales almost 100%. Instead of the money then going to some scummy account farmer or scammer the money would go to the forum.

You need to follow those instructions and PM cyrus with the info. If you post the signed message here the account can be locked or tagged with negative feedback in the meantime whilst you wait for an admin to restore it.
4486  Other / Meta / Re: Sick of seeing, ACCT. Hacked,Banned,Locked on: October 29, 2017, 10:09:30 AM
I'm sort of tired of it too, because I think meta is one of the most interesting sections to read and to post in.

Any chance there could be a subforum created for people trying to get their hacked accounts back?  Seems like it might be useful and would reduce the clutter in meta.

I dunno about a sub board. Seems a bit ridiculous for one just for hacked accounts especially when they should just be PMing an admin about it. Creating a thread about it is just a last resort if admin's aren't responding really.

Then there's the issue of why all these accounts are getting hacked in the first place.  I seriously doubt it's because of the previous database dump that happened a while back--but I might be mistaken.  I'm thinking a lot of people are getting phished with fake bitcointalk websites that ask for your login details.  You have to be careful with those things.  And I'm also wondering if it's a failure of Theymos and the security here, which does seem to be kind of lax--but I'm most definitely not a computer scientist and don't have the knowledge to evaluate that enough to make any accusations.  I am grateful this forum exists in the first place.  As bad as it can be at times, it's still a great forum and I've been a member here longer than any other forum I've registered at.

The vast majority are because people didn't change their passwords after the hack, though I'm sure it'll become more common via other ways with thousands of people eagerly downloading crapcoin wallets with malware or signing up via a crapcoin site that will infect your computer etc. To be fair, theymos couldn't have really done any more than he did with the way the forum was compromised and it was the hosting's fault for being tricked. It has since been changed to a different one I believe.

I think I'm gonna start copying Lawro's predictions on BBC.  Lol.  The guys in the top 3 are too good, and they maintain a consistent run of points every week.

Where's Here4Trades?  I wonder if our side bet is still up...

I usually make my predictions on my own first based on intuition then check numerous other 'tipsters' including Lawro and Merson etc, plus a few other sources. If they have roughly same results I may change them but I usually tend to stick to my guns. I think part of the fun is making them yourself.

Lawro only has 790 points as well. I'm doing better than him currently  Grin:

I was thinking of joining in with Kane a couple of weeks ago. He's currently in the lead by one but is out injured: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers

but i did not use the translator at all and i am using the English i can do. in the first quotation, they would have done if they had seen with problems. in the second quotations

Where did you get this from:

Quote
1 opposite bouncer: in normal bouncer, its reflection goes eventually lower due to gravity or friction, in opposite bouncer means the reflection will be higher between the last bounce

I've never heard of that and there's no hits on google.

i have barely been posting, by the way.

You don't really need to on Coinroll but just because you make few posts doesn't make it ok.

theoretically the second ban would be 14 days rather than 30 days. did i got something certainly wrong?

i have barely been posting, by the way.

Bans can be any duration staff feel appropriate given the individual circumstances. I reduced your current ban to 14 days but I'm going to officially change the second sig spam ban to 30 days because people don't seem to be learning.
4489  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: October 29, 2017, 09:44:35 AM
In the op it clearly states Full Member: Activity: 120, gets 3 gold coins under his name so I'm not sure why you're confused if you read it.

Again, activity rises by 14 so 9 X 14 = 126, but you only need 120 activity to become a Full Member.
4490  Other / Meta / Re: appeal 'lottery248' banned for insubstantial posts on: October 29, 2017, 09:38:31 AM
It's your second ban. Your posts are terrible one/two liners and make little sense:

And why not send a fake passport?
How can they identify a person who is far away?
fake passport can be known with something advanced reverse searching, with that, in case you are using stock photos to fake it, they can indicate that easily.

bitcoin price is explicitly when pigs fly to go $7000 this week, but also when pigs fly that bitcoin price is never going above $7000. since the bitcoin is kinda volatile within $5400~$5900, theoretically the price of bitcoin is going with 'opposite bouncer'[/sup]1[/sup].

1 opposite bouncer: in normal bouncer, its reflection goes eventually lower due to gravity or friction, in opposite bouncer means the reflection will be higher between the last bounce. (idk if that means correctly Huh)

Are you using a translator? You should stick to your local board if you struggle with English. Wait it out.
4491  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: October 29, 2017, 09:31:07 AM
How is the activity calculated? The number or posts or number of posts and hours logged in?

It's the number of two week periods you've posted in and has nothing to do with hours logged in. You can only get 14 activity for every two week period you make a post in. Here's a table of how long it takes:

1 X 14 = 14
2 X 14 = 28
3 X 14 = 42   --  Jr. Member ( 1.5 month)
4 X 14 = 56
5 X 14 = 70   --  Member (2.5 month)
6 X 14 = 84
7 X 14 = 98
8 X 14 = 112
9 X 14 = 126   --  Full Member (4.5 month)
10 X 14 = 140
11 X 14 = 154
12 X 14 = 168
13 X 14 = 182
14 X 14 = 196
15 X 14 = 210
16 X 14 = 224
17 X 14 = 238
18 X 14 = 252   --  Senior Member (8.5 month)
19 X 14 = 266
20 X 14 = 280
21 X 14 = 294
22 X 14 = 308
23 X 14 = 322
24 X 14 = 336
25 X 14 = 350
26 X 14 = 364
27 X 14 = 378
28 X 14 = 392
29 X 14 = 406
30 X 14 = 420
31 X 14 = 434
32 X 14 = 448
33 X 14 = 462
34 X 14 = 476
35 X 14 = 490   --  Hero Member (1.3 years)

Hi everyone, to become a full member is it 60 activities or 120? I'm a bit confused.
Thanks

It's 120 as explained in the Op. Maybe try reading it.
4492  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: October 29, 2017, 07:54:53 AM
My reply was deleted twice.  I still dont know why since its not off topic and the message is not useless.

Well you're obviously doing something wrong and I suggest you read the rules in the op because posts are not just deleted for being either off topic or useless, though making posts like the following is pretty useless:

Hi, im a newbie here,. Can you give me strategies on how can i start in here?

What exactly do you want to start? That doesn't tell us anything. This is a bitcoin forum where people discuss bitcoin so I'm not sure what you need help with. Be more specific, but there are already several threads stickied that can probably help you and threads are often trashed when the info you already need can be found in one of them.
4493  Other / Meta / Re: suggestion: Ask for a BTC address upon registration on: October 29, 2017, 07:39:06 AM
A lot of the posts on here are questions on how to get started, and they will not know how to properly create and secure a bitcoin address. Also I tend to switch wallets pretty often so I would also have trouble verifying my own account if I were to lose access.

Not just that, but a lot of newbs who sign up here know little to nothing about bitcoin and the various functions of it and will use web wallets or exchanges where it's not even possible to sign a message from. Theymos likely isn't going to implement many new changes on this forum but on the new software there will be several two factor authentication methods, but good like trying to get newbies to use them. Another option would be suggesting they post a PGP message  that can be verified but again, this will be difficult for newbies to work out.

Can admins see the history of any changes in the "Bitcoin address:" thing on "Profile"?

No, not currently, but I've suggested they be logged on the new forum to aid in recovery.
4494  Other / Meta / Re: Sending image on pm on: October 29, 2017, 07:34:00 AM
You need to follow the instructions above from longyenthanh and upload to a filehost, but images wont show up for you in either posts or PMs until you're a Junior Member.
4495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: October 29, 2017, 07:32:23 AM
I didn't get any correct scores this week but I did well for six correct outcomes. I have both of today's games down as draws. I think they'll be close.

rickbig41 has had another good week with 110 points taking him up to 700. He was pretty far down the table a couple of weeks ago so it's proof you can bounce up with a couple of good weeks.
4496  Other / Meta / Re: Activity - how to be calculated on: October 29, 2017, 07:28:58 AM
I am new and I have read several post regarding activity point in this forum. But I do not know how to calculate it. What if I post 50posts in a week and logged myself in the forum account ? What are the factors that will help me to improve my points? What is the max points anyone may earn in a week ? Is there any one who can tell me in details? I would like to hear with example. Hope great forum members will help me. I need help badly
You are not so new any more. You are already a Jr. Member! Congratulations!
I still need to rank up. Here's what I found.
You can read this post about activity.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
"The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour."
Make a post every day and it will add up. 14 for every two week period.

It means I will get max 14 activity points, no matter how many posts I make ? If I only make 1 post, I will get 14 points in 14 days, that is it ? So if it goes like this, I will get 140 activity points in 20 weeks if I create 1 post once in 14 days period, right ? Damn. it will take years to gain 300+ activity points with regular activity. So, it means the person with higher rank actually made a great sacrifice. They worked hard and consistently for years.
Hats off

Yes. Simply put you cannot get more than 14 activity every two week period. It's called activity because it's a measurement of how active you are on the forum and is in place to stop people just trying to spam their way through the ranks. There's a table here of how long it will take you to achieve each rank assuming you post in every period:

1 X 14 = 14
2 X 14 = 28
3 X 14 = 42   --  Jr. Member ( 1.5 month)
4 X 14 = 56
5 X 14 = 70   --  Member (2.5 month)
6 X 14 = 84
7 X 14 = 98
8 X 14 = 112
9 X 14 = 126   --  Full Member (4.5 month)
10 X 14 = 140
11 X 14 = 154
12 X 14 = 168
13 X 14 = 182
14 X 14 = 196
15 X 14 = 210
16 X 14 = 224
17 X 14 = 238
18 X 14 = 252   --  Senior Member (8.5 month)
19 X 14 = 266
20 X 14 = 280
21 X 14 = 294
22 X 14 = 308
23 X 14 = 322
24 X 14 = 336
25 X 14 = 350
26 X 14 = 364
27 X 14 = 378
28 X 14 = 392
29 X 14 = 406
30 X 14 = 420
31 X 14 = 434
32 X 14 = 448
33 X 14 = 462

Yeah, but not good enough to beat or draw with United at Old Trafford. Glad I got the 10 points at least but was worried they might get a late equaliser. Can't afford to be giving you guys above me 40 points haha.
4498  Other / Meta / Re: Signature rules? on: October 28, 2017, 01:32:39 PM
You can have ref links in your signature just not posts. I don't think one in your signature will have been removed by an admin though.
4499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: October 28, 2017, 06:06:17 AM
They're open pretty fast.

Kane is out injured for the opening game against Man U. I was going to go with a 1-1 draw but might change it to 2-1 now.
4500  Other / Meta / Re: Decreasing my posts daily. Please help me? on: October 28, 2017, 06:02:14 AM
I had that too. I think some moderator has decided to move huge threads to the trashcan to stop people posting in them, but this only punishes people who had posted there in the early stages. You can't know that the thread you're posting in will grow to have over 20 pages and gets deleted in a month or two. Threads like that should be locked not deleted.

No, what should change is hopefully the culture around here of users creating utter shit threads and then people posting in them en mass saying the same thing over and over. People need to learn that it's not acceptable to create or contribute to pointless threads who's only existence is for sig spammers to easily post nonsense because it's too difficult for them to actually bother writing something of substance in a constructive thread. Hopefully now when users see a thread such as 'bitcoin or girlfriend' or 'family or bitcoin' they won't post in them. Nothing of value gets lost when one of those threads get trashed.
