4481  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Only 10 platforms are credible on: April 22, 2019, 06:33:59 PM
People are confusing "credible" with "user-friendly".
By credible, it doesn't mean an exchange with the best UI, cheapest fees, or easier to use. It's about the ones that are trustworthy. They don't manipulate their volume/orders and they may have a published audit etc...
The list is highly reduced and when you think about it, it shows that it's the crypto exchanges that need regulations, not its crypto users.

4483  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Shop With Bitcoin on Amazon Using Lightning, Moon on: April 22, 2019, 04:02:46 PM
Hey, I remember when it was in Beta. There was also a discussion on this forum IIRC.
As soon as it's available on the chrome store next week I'll try it directly, I who buy a lot on Amazon, it would be perfect. What I don't get is how the company is making a profit?

...by 2020 the lightning-enabled feature should work on almost any e-commerce site...
It will be cool.
4484  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-21]Top 5 Blockchain & Cryptocurrency-Friendly European Nations on: April 22, 2019, 03:47:46 PM
A country can be "blockchain friendly but not "crypto friendly".

Also calling a country blockchain/crypto friendly is subjective. For exemple, following the author's logic, a country with only 2 companies is labelled as "friendly". (Such big, much important) I guess there are several dozens of countries to add to the list so.
Personally, I wouldn't call a country friendly just because companies are located there. I would call if the country and/or its citizens use blockchain/cryptos. (cryptos, smart cities, ...)
4485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Realistic Predictions for Bitcoin? on: April 22, 2019, 03:24:59 PM
Not so long ago many people (including myself) thought that the Bitcoin's value could go down to ~$2,500-$2,000. Since the beginning of the month (when the upward trend started) the tendency is to think that we finally had the bottom of that period.

If we encounter the same scenario as a few years ago, yes, the bottom is out. Up to say we will soon see an ATH, certainly not. Are we safe from another correction? Certainly not. Once we cross the $5,500 I hope it will trigger investor's alarm to come again in the market. But I have the impression that this threshold will be hard to reach.
4486  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Could Exceed $1 Million in 7 -10 Years: PayPal Director on: April 22, 2019, 03:02:24 PM
But it was hard to imagine that the price would ever rise above $1000 when I started to invest in Bitcoin and today the price is way above that. Therefore I know, much is possible in crypto area, even such a high price in the future, but that's not all I'd count on.  Wink

Imagine how that was for people who bought their first coins in 2010/2011. If you told them that Bitcoin would reach $1000 in 3 years, they would probably burst out laughing because it's so hard for people to fathom how something that's worth a few bucks can be worth that much.

I actually had a similar experience with a close internet buddy of mine who is an Ethereum fanboy. He kept repeating that its price would explode well beyond $100 when it was still below $10, which I (with my Bitcoin maximalist cap on) thought wasn't possible because everything at that point for me was a shitcoin and worth zero.

I am sure that he actually believed in Ethereum but was just speculating about its price, but still, he was right and I was wrong. I never ever again will underestimate any coin in terms of price action.

That happens to the Bitcoin purists since they have a kind of love for BTC, they see BTC and nothing else. Then, as the saying goes, "only fools don't change" (But you're still a bit of a traitor Cheesy) There are some altcoins that are good and can be complementary for Bitcoin. If Bitcoin is the king, it needs its queen too

4489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could still crash below $3000 - Vinny Lingham on: April 21, 2019, 07:14:54 PM
Do you know what I was thinking about?  People are not interested anymore to know what caused the recent rise. They're just happy with the money, how that comes doesn't matter  Cheesy
That being said, it would be nice if the bullish trend continued at least until the end of the month but I'm not sure that's an option when the whole market is red today. Roll Eyes
4490  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon and Bitcoin on: April 21, 2019, 06:57:34 PM
I doubt if Amazon would dip their payment feet into Bitcoin soon, because of two reasons. 1. They have a strong partnership with PayPal and Credit card companies and they will not jeopardize that relationship. 2. Bitcoin are not acknowledged as a "currency", but rather as a commodity, so the legal issues and accounting problems will be significant, if they experiment with payment options that are not defined as a currency.

We might see more merchants accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, as soon as regulators sort out the regulation regarding Crypto currencies and the definition of currencies.  Wink
I don’t think it will affect their relationship with paypal and visa cards if they include cryptocurrencies in their payment means though you are right when you said that there could be an accounting problem in their part with this matter. There is a lot of crypto-users who do not have visa credit cards and though they want to purchase from Amazon they don’t have the means and they don’t find it easy using PayPal too so if they include cryptocurrency that will be great not just for crypto-users but also for an increase adoption and usage of cryptocurrency.

Amazon doesn't even accept Paypal on its websites. If people don't find Paypal easy to use then really, they shouldn't buy on the internet at all. Even a 10 years old kid can use Paypal after 5 minutes using it.
There is no accounting problem for a company, just 2-3 more columns to add in their accounting database. From all companies accepting BTC I have never seen one removing it because it's too difficult with accounting.
4493  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lack of Bitcoin debit card providers on: April 21, 2019, 10:04:23 AM
Now I think that only Wirex has a properly working card.
Coinbase have recently announced they are releasing a card in the UK, so I would expect that to expand to other countries soon enough. As with everything to do with Coinbase, the fees are ridiculous and I'll be staying well away from it, but at a minimum I would expect it to be a reliable card to use, as long as you don't mind spending 2.5% or more as a fee on every transaction - https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2969910-coinbase-card-faq.

My biggest hatred of all these existing bitcoin cards is the amount of KYC required to be allowed to own and use one. I want to use bitcoin to move away from some company having a complete log of everything I spend and what I spend it on, like they currently do with fiat debit and credit cards. If someone released a truly private bitcoin debit card, I would probably accept a couple of percent in fees as a price to use it.

It isn't really possible to launch a BTC card full anonymous and the reason is quite simple. You have to use Visa/Mastercard/Amex/Discover/... and these companies won't work with you if you can't follow their guidelines. Otherwise, you will have to create a new credit card company (compatible with terminals and ATMs) and good luck with that.

Too many of the previous providers were relying only on upon Wavecrest and they didn't think about alternatives while their whole business was dependent from WC. The new trend should be to use a truly BaaS but almost no company seems interested. Only Bitwala so far with its partnership with SolarBank.
4494  Economy / Speculation / Re: The end of the sideways market is only a few months a head. TA on: April 20, 2019, 07:11:55 PM
I agree. In short term we might be bullish but not yet in long term charts. The golden cross in short term charts is definitely suggesting that we will cross over $5400 easily. But are we yet ready for $6k. I guess not. Bitcoin will retrace and will stay in $4k range for more time to come before an actual bullish phase.

$5.400 is like tomorrow. Since April 1st the value increases by $200 each week. When you look behind, it's not bad for BTC. I suppose we can say that the bullish phase already started, especially if it continues like this. Maybe it's just that it doesn't behave like we're used to seeing.

4496  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon and Bitcoin on: April 20, 2019, 05:15:28 PM
Purse.io but I've never been inclined to try them myself.
Yeah, but you'll have to essentially dox yourself (shipping info) to an unknown individual, and hope that the user paying for your stuff isn't carding/chargebacking/doing other shady stuff, right?
I'm not too keen on opening myself up to that, no matter how big the % off.

No, you can make the shipping address on your wish list private, people don't see your personal address, (not even your name if I'm correct), it's a feature in your Amazon account, I always did it while using Purse.io.

Too bad Purse.io doesn't have an offer from my country, anybody recommends a good place to sell Amazon.fr GC? (other than in this forum)

Correct me if I'm wrong but they did accept bitcoin a while back? I never used it but heard they did.

no, never
4497  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase on: April 20, 2019, 02:26:04 PM
I think he is talking about the free coins you get from forks, hence the reason he posted in the web wallet section.  And I am not sure but Coinbase credited only for the BCH fork, if you owned X BTC before in Coinbase before the block #xxxxxx.
4498  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Amazon and Bitcoin on: April 20, 2019, 11:10:07 AM
Perhaps the community does but Amazon has no interest to accept BTC, whatever the Bitcoin's price is.
Bitrefill is a good option but the rate is not so good last time I checked. I used Purse.io before without a problem.
4499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Analysis: BTC/USD Bulls Keep Charging to Upside Targets on: April 20, 2019, 10:41:49 AM
Someone noticed that the Bitcoin started to move during the weekends, whereas before it was pretty dead. You could buy bitcoin cheaper starting from Friday and it returned at the beginning of the week. Now it does the opposite, increase in weekends and decrease at the beginning of the week.
4500  Economy / Economics / Re: The Great View of History on: April 20, 2019, 10:21:31 AM
You're mixing economy and politic a bit, even they can be tied together somewhat. The real problem is the money created by someone behind a computer (your banker), the money doesn't exist, it's a scriptural money and it's a real threat to the system. As long central banks keep to print money that's ok, but it creates debt and decreases national currencies value
