4481  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: FastCash4Bitcoins Support Thread (Update: suspended pending stupid-proofing) on: October 27, 2012, 02:29:10 PM
Any eta on the site? I really love the service. Your the only one this simple and fees this low.

It will be a couple days, I would plan for Monday.  If we get it done earlier it will relaunch over the weekend.  The problem is it isn't simply a small code change.  I generally dislike "accounts".  Accounts get hacked, accounts get lost.   The design of FC4B was to make each transaction independent.  If there is a problem with an order, just let it expire and make a new one.

Of course in hindsight such a structure requires grown ups to act like grown ups.  It worked while the site was small but it opens us up to potential liability through the actions of others.  So the changes (at least in terms of code & database) are rather significant.

Sucks.

What could possibly go wrong?
4483  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitInstant Back Online – All is well on: October 27, 2012, 02:28:00 PM
the Macau airport just got mad because the Japanese airport didn’t stamp his passport correctly, so now he’s being held until he can fly back to Japan to re-stamp the passport (gotta love bureaucrats!)

 Shocked

That sounds infernal.

For all the fearmongering about the US Government people do, it is probably the Chinese we will have most trouble with.
4484  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Make your own MPEx database copy. on: October 27, 2012, 02:26:14 PM
No, it's Mr. P's own key, and I don't think that'd get released. The idea is that even if all our backups somehow burn the data can still be reconstructed from unknown sources.
4485  Economy / Service Announcements / Make your own MPEx database copy. on: October 26, 2012, 11:22:27 PM
That's right. Go to http://polimedia.us/bitcoin/db_dump.php and save the dump somewhere. There's enough info there to reconstruct ownership of all coins and all assets in case of catastrophe (such as the Internet no longer existing, for instance).

At first I read "BiteMe".

4488  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SatoshiDice - rolled back transactions on: October 26, 2012, 10:34:36 PM
I still don't understand why there are blocks with 10-20 transactions when there are 500+ transactions with fees waiting to be included. Why the hell pools don't include them?

At some point there was a large-ish miner who accepted no transactions whatsoever. Fact is miners aren't required to accept transactions, and since the fees are tiny at the moment as compared to block reward this may happen.
4489  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcix.com is now up on: October 26, 2012, 03:32:02 AM
So good luck with it.
4490  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SatoshiDice - rolled back transactions on: October 26, 2012, 03:31:13 AM
No.  Your transaction would still be "out there" with miners actively working to include it in a transaction somewhere.  Eventually, unless there was malicious action on your part, the tea vendor would receive their money.

It was shown in the blockchain.info interface. Now it isn't. Something went wrong.

This is mildly concerning. As he points out, valid transactions from orphaned blocks do make it into the main chain.
4491  Economy / Securities / Re: Brokerage service for MPEx on: October 25, 2012, 08:46:54 PM
So it's about your feeling of ambition?
Most of the things you seem to write have the form of 'You are shit. Look at how good i am.'
Why are you so eager to express this division?

The more proper inquiry would be why are you so eager to gloss over it.

@eskimobob: were they on glbse?
4492  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: October 25, 2012, 06:35:07 PM
Also if someone could do some blockchain analysis.

It has been stated on these boards previous that addresses assumed to belong to trendon shavers are acutally silk road addresses.

I'll go ahead and publicly verify the following:

James 'rg' Edward referred above to a "trendon" in the IRC chat. He had an IPO for BitVPS:
http://polimedia.us/bitcoin/mpex.php?mpsic=S.BVPS

Given his early interactions and knowledge of his name, I have a feeling he has full contact information as well as information that may shed light on what other VPS servers are owned.

4494  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitcoin Options Contracts - Gauging Interest on: October 25, 2012, 06:13:14 PM
No, I saw other disgusting things on their site, and stopped digging. Its obviously un moderated and just like a site such as 4chan people post cp, all I asked was that she defend herself by saying, something like "I dont agree with allowing these things to be published, but I do find them disgusting."

If you want your "reputable" exchange to advance, I would suggest disregarding the image board.

You could start by either learning English, logic, or both. Or at the very least stop confusing what people actually said with what you think they said.
4495  Economy / Securities / Re: Brokerage service for MPEx on: October 25, 2012, 06:11:24 PM
Why should mpex be trusted? GLBSE just closed down.

Why should you be heard? There was once a retard on a forum.

Yes, calling a person a retard because you think they don't find ears is a great way to grow trust.

That's not the point. You call something into question on the basis of some association you perceive (in spite of the fact that "the community" dislikes our dissociation from GLBSE and GLBSE-like practices). This sits just fine. I call you into question on the exact same basis, and this suddenly no longer sits just fine, or fine at all. The best way to start actually using your head for thinking is by internalizing the simple proposition that you as a subject are in no way privileged or distinguishable from the object of your thinking.

Other than that, the constant preoccupation of nobodies with "growing" things they never grew is starting to wear my patience thin. Go make something, then advise others how to make something.
4496  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE owners lied to us. How to move forward and fix this? Move to Exchange X? on: October 25, 2012, 06:06:35 PM
Right.

This "company" stole/lost 20,000 BTC about a month ago... anyone stupid enough to use them again deserves to lose their money.

I see a culture of "split at the first hint of trouble" emerging....
