4482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: November 17, 2020, 09:00:04 PM
Olympics games are somewhat a business, an opportunity for the host country to make money or at least break even as far as expenses goes. So I doubt that they will allow the Olympics without fans and tourist. So it means that they will only push through when everything has settled down, specially the vaccines. So yes, it might not happen next year, and could be postponed up to 2022.
4483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can Crypto be Good for Mass Adoption? on: November 17, 2020, 08:43:13 PM
Now this begs the question, How can crypto be good for mass adoption? How can an average person buy Bitcoin(/s) when the price reaches a newer level? Many people have enjoyed(or should I use the word earned) free crypto (please stop Denying), Many have mined, Staked, Bought at the lowest of prices and so on. How can it be any good for the mass adoption when only a few (in comparison to the people around the world who are not yet into Crypto) have the crypto currency just because they are a bit early into the scene.
You can still buy bitcoin though, the thing with newbie is that they always thought that you need to buy 1 BTC immediately. Nope. You can simply #stack sats.

Now, It's not that I'm against anything, But the real problem that no one seems to care about is how can the wealth be distributed equally among all so that people (irrespective of being late) enjoy all the benefits equally And the majority of the funds are not controlled by few individuals.
That is your second issue, bitcoin is not meant to solve wealth inequalities. Not a magic bean to solve every financial problems around the world.

Olympics: Bach expresses confidence in Tokyo Games even as virus cases surge.

Quote
TOKYO (Reuters) - International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach expressed confidence on Monday that the Tokyo Games will be held successfully next year, even allowing spectators, despite a sharp rise in coronavirus infections worldwide.

The President of IOC was in Japan recently so he issued a statement that the Summer Olympics could be held in 2021 with fans being allowed to watch the game. However, he is banking on that idea that a vaccine could have been discovered next year, so with that said, the Games is still uncertain next year.
4485  Economy / Economics / Re: Technology is rendering the fiat money system of the 20th Century obsolete on: November 16, 2020, 10:47:52 PM
#FinTech revolutions of the early 21st Century are now bringing about a qualitative leap.   Moreover, open finance systems are now on the verge of being mature enough to replace the #fiat system as solidified under the Bretton Woods agreement.
Open finance being mature? Nah still far from being mature or make some progressed. And I doubt that fiat system will be obsolete or replace by a new system that all governments around the world are going to agree. We are still far from that and I don't see it happening in our lifetime. Covid-19 much have push it though, but then again, there's too much at stake right now that fiat system will here to stay.
4486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lebanon to launch digital currency in face of economic and financial turmoil on: November 16, 2020, 10:25:01 PM
Lebanon’s central bank plans to launch a new digital currency in 2021 as part of a broader effort to combat a parallel economic and financial crisis that has engulfed the country.  READ THE COMPLETE DETAILS HERE: https://worldpublicityblog.com/index.php/2020/11/14/lebanon-to-launch-digital-currency-in-face-of-economic-and-financial-turmoil/
great news for all of us...
Other countries will certainly follow if it is proven that Lebanon's digital currency is Lebanon's way out of the crisis. This outbreak is making the economies of many countries dying, the digital currency revolution is urgently needed to create a safe exit.

How will this a good news for all of us? This is just another crypto back by government, and just like fiat the government can have total control of their digital issued crypto. So there's no way that you should treat this a safe haven or safe exit that you are talking about. If you wanted to have a safe haven crypto, go to BTC and not a state sponsored digital fiat.
4487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just in - Bitcoin at $15 000 on: November 16, 2020, 10:05:30 PM
^^ I was surprised to see the price ~$16k again, but I thought its Monday morning in Asia today so there might be some movement that will push the price to $16k again. So let's see if the price movement from Asia will have a positive effect (I do hope), but in any case that a $15600, still looks healthy correction to me. Probably that will be the (strong) support for now before making another spike to $17k-$18k next month.
Yes, the price now back to $16k, so we can make a profit again. Although the price is not back to $16,400, it still a good profit for us.
Some people already sold their bitcoin at the current price, but they also wait for the next high price, which will happen later.
Maybe the correction will be back again, but I am sure that the price can handle it and the price can be back to have another rally.
But we need to be careful because we don't know how deep the correction will come later.
After all, the correction itself will always happen in the crypto market.
The price will touch the other high price and make another spike, and hopefully, the price can touch more than $17k-$18k.
See I told yah,  Smiley Asian market is really into bitcoin specially when it's opening at their time frame, $16,600 going to $16,700, so this is another retest in the following days, so let's see if we can sustain the growth for this week at least, resistance becoming support and then goes to the next level of $17k-$18k December, we are extremely in the bullish phase.
4488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US stimulus package of $1,200 now worth $3,000 (Bitcoin store of value) on: November 16, 2020, 09:54:26 PM
I have this thread before: Wonder how much is the $1200 stimulus package worth now if invested on BTC?, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first stimulus package back then, May 2020.
4489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 16, 2020, 09:42:23 PM
Paul George is injured way back and I think it could really affect his full potential in playing basketball. Kawhi is a  scorer and not really a good leader that can carry a team like Lebron James. CP3 is way better among the players ecen Rudy Gobert. This guy is explosive and unpredictable with his moves and that he is a playmaker. I think they could be one of the best team in NBA next season but for now it so hard to beat the Lakers with Lebron and Davis and other leading scorers in the team.
I think this adjustments from the Clippers was really a reaction to Lakers. I mean they want someone in the middle like Rudy as a defensive presence, but it will be more on CP3 as a big factor if ever they will go and chase the ring next season. CP3 has proven itself a top notch playmaker and I think that's what Clippers needs to have a good chance against the Lakers or the rest of the powerful Western team.
4490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: November 15, 2020, 11:01:06 PM
Sorry for those who bet on Tsitsipas or at least a fan of him as he losses to Dominic Thiem in 3 sets. It was a good match actually, Thiem taking the first and them Tsitsipas coming back in the second to make it 1-1. But then again, we have seen him very inconsistent and that what cause him to lose the match in the 3rd set. Nadal as usual, was dominant against a game Rublev, 6-3, 6-4.

@Jating - good call on Nadal, that is a good ML odds indeed.

4492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting strategy advice on: November 15, 2020, 10:27:10 PM
I think sigle betting is the safest way to bet on sports betting because it has less risk compared to multy bet. If I want to establish myself to continue gambling every week on only one best team, will I be able to win more money at the end of the season? If not, what will cause me to lose at the end of the season ?
I don't think that it is less risk either, maybe the odds is in your favor but, @1.2 or @1.3? not good returns and it's also not a guarantee that you will always win. And then it's kinda boring isn't it? You should have same fun and get out of your comfort zone when gambling.

For example, I only bet on Manchester City every week until the end of the season with the assumption that Manchester City are able to finish the Premier League and enter the top 4 of the standing.
That is your assumption, but what happens when there is a upset?
4493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Black Friday 2020 on: November 15, 2020, 10:14:33 PM

For those new, this is usually the best time to get a hardware wallet;)

Yes, 2 years ago I got a hardware wallet as Trezor is offering 30%++ off back then.  Grin

And I do hope that they will have another Black Friday sale this year.

I also agree with @Kakmakr, you just have to be very careful as scammer for sure will ply the market with too good to be true offers.
4494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Reinforced by the pandemic on: November 15, 2020, 01:56:31 PM
Bitcoin price behaviour has been somehow similar to stocks and gold during this COVID worldwide crisis.

My question for the crypto community in here: Do you think that the fact BTC has survived the initial dump and rebounded, consolidated, marched upwards, and now standing close to its ATH acted as some kind of reinforcement to the trust investors have in this asset?

In other words, are you now, as an investor more confident about investing in BTC than before the whole crisis started?
Obviously that is the case, when it went like -50% or more during March, I would say that people did lose hope or just waiting to invest if the price goes down to $2k range. But based on historical perspective, bitcoin has this somewhat ability to really recover from the worst dump. If you check the greed index, it is on the range of extreme greed, so we can equate that investors are more willing now to invest because they are betting on a eventual bull run next year.
4495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Nordine Oubaali vs. Nonito Donaire - December 12 on: November 15, 2020, 01:37:28 PM

Though I'm a fan of Nonito Donaire, I am having doubt if he could win again at this time of his career. Father time is catching him and we all know that age is really a factor in boxing, with the exception of Manny Pacquaio of course. If they will release the odds and if the odds on betting on Rodriguez is tempting, I think I would go for it.
A boxer is judge based on how he performed on his last fight, and Donito's last fight against Inoue shows that he still has it, he is the first boxer to get Inoue in trouble and the first to give him a cut, he is performing really well and there were rounds where he totally dominate Inoue.
If he can come out with a performance like that he can outbox and beat Rodriguez and besides he will just turn 38, some boxers can still keep up at 38.
Correct, a fighter is good as his last fight. So based on that, Nonito really gave us a good performance although he feel short, he has done so much damage on Inoue that he broke Inoue's orbital bone. So he can still crack any boxers on this division. And this is a good stylistic match up for Donaire, and he will perform better and could probably win by knock out, I reckon.
4496  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos Withdrawal Fees Rise (!?)|| November 2020 on: November 14, 2020, 10:12:28 PM
I think casinos shouldn't charge at all for withdrawal fees by their own set fee. Rather than just let players choose the available fee options for them just like when sending from a wallet he owns private key for. That way, a user can easily choose less fee if he doesn't need the funds urgently!
Not true in all cases, I have seen many blocked or frozen gambling accounts due to using the deposit/withdrawal as a hot wallet. The low fees can attract the other users who have no interest to gamble to make deposits/withdrawals for transferring the crypto. It is necessary to charge the average fee because unlike gambling websites Kraken exchange even takes the deposit fee from each deposit to balance the costs.
Yes, it was a practice back then to used gambling sites as sort of like "mixing services", that why they have to charge users and most of the time gambling sites will just froze your account for suspicious activity. And it's good if some casino's will let users choose the available options, as most of us wanted cheap fees. Of course if you are in a hurry, you wanted to fastest so you have to pay higher fees. So thumbs up for online casino's that has this kind of options.
4497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Nordine Oubaali vs. Nonito Donaire - December 12 on: November 14, 2020, 09:59:00 PM
So another boxer is down with the virus, at least they have find a replacement on Rodriguez which is also a tougher match for Donaire since we all know that Donaire is slowly ageing already. And Rodriguez' only lost came from the hands of Inoue. Looking at his boxrec here: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/614887, seems a decent fighter. But I think with Donaire's experience, he can beat Rodriguez by decision or by another highlight knockout, his left hook.

Chainalysis Launches Asset Realization Program for Government Agencies and Insolvency Practitioners

Quote
Chainalysis, the blockchain analysis company, today announced the launch of an asset realization program to help government agencies and insolvency practitioners handle, store, realize, and monitor seized assets. This announcement comes on the heels of the largest ever seizure of digital assets – collectively worth over $1 billion USD – by the U.S. government last week. Chainalysis tools and investigative assistance helped law enforcement identify and investigate the cryptocurrency wallets used in that case, which involved funds used or intended to be used to facilitate narcotics sales on the darknet marketplace Silk Road.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/chainalysis-launches-program-to-manage-cryptocurrency-seized-by-law-enforcement/

What are your thoughts on this so called program by Chainalysis, is the government hot on our heels? Or will this be just another noise out there specially coming from Chainalysis and will only be used to target criminals and strengthen their case if ever they want to file a case against a hacker/hackers?
4499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 14, 2020, 12:40:20 PM
It may be way to sooner but I think Warriors will win 2021 NBA Season as they had such a long break in order to prepare for it because their season basically ended after 10 games so I won't be surprised to see them in the finals. Also I would say that Nets have a good chance to reach semi-finals in their conference but we will see as transfers are still in talk in both conferences.

If you have a healthy Kevin Durant in your team, then that's such a huge boost for the team specially when he teamed up with superstars. If the Nets stay healthy all throughout the 2021 regular season, then that's an automatic Finals bound team.
On the other hand, the Western Conference are now becoming even stronger. The Denver Nuggets really impressed me with their playoff performance. While the Clippers are re-building their team with Leonard as the center piece. The Lakers are still on the process of acquiring more depth with their line up. I don't think we can say that the GSW might win in the next Playoffs. These teams I have mentioned are a very serious competitors against the GSW.
I agree, it's not that GSW will be back in their old form and dominate the West again with their healthy big 3. A lot of Western teams have upgraded in response to GSW, and now even Houston who have been GSW's main nemesis with James Harden are not even the favorite in the Western Conference. Lakers, Nuggets, Clippers, Mavericks, very good teams. So we will see if GSW with Curry can compete at high level with this teams now.
4500  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: attention about BCH fork on: November 14, 2020, 12:17:12 PM
Never been a fan of BCH, but as far as I know, when they fork from BTC, you can still have BTC and BCH. So I was surprised that this is not the case if BCH fork on November 15? Quite confused actually, but based on some members, it did happened before, so it is quite misleading for BCH holders. And that's why I just stayed with BTC and not played around with this so called fork coins.
