4481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scarsity, the reason it's worth hodling bitcoin on: March 28, 2021, 05:37:57 PM
I don't think the value Bitcoin has is got only from its short supply. Nah! Its decentralized nature and the fact that it's community driven are a part of what brings its value. I have seen tokens which are around 2 million in maximum supply but could hardly do up to $10 in price. I have also seen a project like Filecoin which has 1,979,784,501 (almost 2 billion) doing over $200 for such a huge quantity. I think the whole thing boils down to a project's usefulness to attain a nice price. So, it's not necessarily because Bitcoin has a short supply of 21 million that makes people hodl it in expectation of price increase because of its usefulness.

Dude, your target line 500K is freaking crazy.
There's nothing crazy about such an expectation. Remember Bitcoin was once sold for less than $0.01 (1cent) but today Bitcoin is around $56,000+. No one would've believed Bitcoin would get this far 10 years ago. Did anyone even believe it would get to $60,000 from its low of $3,200 in 2020?
4482  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thank you bitcointalk for birthday wish on: March 27, 2021, 09:50:20 PM
I think your topic is better moved to the 'meta' or 'off topic' thread.
I think Meta will be more appropriate since it relates to a forum innovation. Again, it will encourage veteran members to contribute to the topic relevantly and answer a few questions that may arise from it. For instance, I would love to know how long the virtual birthday cake stays before disappearing — before, on the D day or after the main day? A lot of people may even miss out on such gesture if they didn't know of it before hand and didn't log into the forum on a day it's displayed. Perhaps I missed mine in January when I had my birthday or it could've been that I didn't check for the birthday present to begin with since I didn't know there would be such a gesture.
4483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin will be bought by new people? on: March 27, 2021, 08:16:48 PM
For a prediction, which one new people will buy more, we can only guess.
What is your opinion, which one will bring uns more profits? Altcoins or Bitcoin?
I think new people will like to buy altcoins. Not just any type of altcoins but those altcoins within the cent (less than a dollar altcoin) region once the alts season sets in. I know this from experience. A lot of new people will view the more expensive altcoins way out of their reach and then make a go for those in cents, believing that the cheap altcoins will also rise like those out of their reach. This is an error of thought which a lot of them will get to learn the hard way later. There were certain altcoins I bought as a newbie in 2017 that have gone extinct now and my hard earned cash gone down the drains.

Based on my experience I could definitely say altcoins are more profitable than bitcoin.
You're absolutely correct!

The major reason people buy or trade Bitcoin is because it's a coin that won't disappear overnight. Even when it crashes heavily like we saw in 2018/19, it will resurrect. Altcoins (apart from ETH) are a greater risk than Bitcoin but they give a better ROI than Bitcoin..
4484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or Bitcoin which is best. on: March 27, 2021, 03:13:09 PM
Bitcoin and ethereum is now increasing the price day by day. How how to choose and invest the coin. Bitcoin or ethereum which is the best future investment and how to invest the coins.
You meant "better" of course because that's the right comparative for two things. Ethereum may have the smart contract which several projects are latching on to but it's certainly no match for Bitcoin, a project that gave us the blockchain tech. However, both have solid communities that can go all out in their defence even in the face of abysmal performance like what we have with both in transaction fees. For a pick between the two, I will choose Bitcoin any time any day over ETH. Bitcoin is a phoenix. It has passed through severe fire in terms of forks and dumps but it's still surviving it. It will surely rise at any dump.
4485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ African Cup Of Nations Cameron 2021 Qualifiers ⚽ on: March 27, 2021, 05:01:03 AM
Josefjix, can we honestly say that the Nigerian side is a "developing team" where we have it predominantly made up of foreign based players? The Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr needs to start showing more faith in the home based players than in the foreign based ones if he truly knows what he's doing.
4486  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie traders - Learn from my mistakes on: March 27, 2021, 04:25:32 AM
But if you are determined enough to understand the likes of MA, EMA, WMA, KJD, MACD, and many other patterns and technical analysis tools as mentioned
It's dangerous relying on the above mentioned indicators as they all are "lagging". You need "leading" indicators as they tend to point you in the direction before price gets there like Support and Resistance marks, trend line and Pivot Points. These indicators alert you ahead of what price plans to do or go to while lagging indicators only follow price behind.

My humble advice to OP (like I also mentioned in another post today) here 👇

I assumed, that trading was really easy
Add this to your bag of wisdom — Assumption is the highest form of ignorance.

You did what you were supposed to do first on the second guess, and that was getting the basic skill set for trading. Well, good a thing you eventually recognized that you didn't know anything and went for tutorials on trading.

Never overlook the place of learning and acquiring basic trading skill set before venturing into trading. Otherwise, you will severely roast your finances.
4487  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading, is it worth? on: March 27, 2021, 03:32:39 AM

You did what you were supposed to do first on the second guess, and that was getting the basic skill set for trading. Well, good a thing you eventually recognized that you didn't know anything and went for tutorials on trading. I have to admit to you that trading isn't an easy job. But then, so also is going to space. Yet people take the risk going to space.

I am talking about the path of naked charting/indicators/patterns.
You meant solely relying on Price Action? Even with PA you will still need leading indicators like trendlines and pivots to know where stops of Support and Resistance are. In the actual sense, there isn't such thing as naked charts.

If anyone could explain their strategy on day/swing/scalp/position you will make my day
These positions are individual specific. What works for A may not work for B or C. So, you have to choose what suits your temperament. If you're the impatient type of person in real life, you may want to avoid scalping or day trading. Choose swing .
4488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Nigeria Central bank confusing its citizens? on: March 26, 2021, 08:23:09 PM
the CBN did this to protect the naira from further devaluation that is already happening and stop scamming activities that are carried out with the help of cryptocurrency.
If the CBN wants to protect the Naira, it should encourage an export styled economy and make loans readily available to those who need them to go into agriculture and manufacturing rather than the import module Nigeria runs. When a country depends on other countries for her supplies to feed her citizens, that country will be left at the mercy of those other countries. And this makes her currency suffer. That's the situation with Nigeria.

I do it think we should not blame the CBN, even when banks transactions to or from crypto organizations are banned now, p2p are now used. The so called fraud will soon be done using p2p which is even more safe. What the CBN should do is to regulate, not ban crypto transactions into banks in Nigeria.
Fraud is as old as mankind. It's even older than the days of cowries and fiat. A lot of fraudulent activities occurred with the above medium of exchange but that didn't get them banned. I blame the CBN in all ramifications for such confusion on its stance on cryptocurrency. Emefiele shouldn't have dabbled into what he doesn't know its modus operandi in the first place. Also, remember that more people have been scammed through Fiat usage than crypto. So, why the hullabaloo on crypto by various governments if not that it tends to take away financial power from them and transfer it to the masses. That's the simple truth.
4489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Problems with high fees on: March 26, 2021, 05:39:41 PM
All coins Transactions have high fees.
What to use its best Now?

I dont see point of coins When You pay huge Transaction fees!
The high fee doesn't cut across all coins, actually. Last month I moved 10,000 units of Dogecoin from a private wallet to Binance for a fee of 2 Doge. I was really taken aback as I expected something way above that. The cost of two doge then was $0.1. Just a mere 10cents to move that huge quantity and it arrived almost immediately I sent it out. We can't say that for Bitcoin and ETH. I think these two are bad influence on the entire crypto market.

Anyway, if you want less transaction fees and stable then I think you can go with USDT on TRC20. You will need at least 0.1TRX on the Tron address to see your USDT on the address and to spend.
This is what I do most times, especially when am withdrawing from Binance because of the fixed 0.001% BTC withdrawal fee. When that's converted to dollar, it's a high fee to pay especially on small transactions. Going the USDT route seems to be more favourable.
4490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scam Coin On PANCAKESWAP on: March 26, 2021, 03:18:27 PM
To lessen your risk of ending up with scam tokens, always check if their code has been audited by a reputable third party.
That's a nice insight you just gave there. Honestly, I haven't been checking on project audit but I have been fairly lucky not to have invested in any scam token yet. I hope it stays that way too. My method has been to go through the token write up and check if it has a use-case or just some dude building a castle in mid air. If it's the latter, I instantly know it's a no-no and I stay out, no matter what ROI is projected. Another thing I look out for is error on the write up. If I find silly school boys error, I take that the dev and its team aren't a serious bunch. I like seriousness when it comes down to business. That's the major thing that can make me part with my hard earned cash.
4491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin binance smartchain wort it? on: March 26, 2021, 02:04:35 PM
hello guys what do you think about altcoins, binance, smartchains? all altcoins that binance have were all mooning like cake ,sfp, etc. Do you guys think is it worth it to invest tokens from binance chains?

Give me some cool suggestions guys:)
There's always a caveat buying any token listed on DApp, whether from Pancakeswap through a BSC or on Metamask through ETH on Coingecko. It's so that buyers will be aware of any act of a possible rugpull so they don't cast the blame on anyone if that eventually happens. I haven't experienced a rugpull myself but I heard it's a terrible experience to have as one watches one's cash go down the drain. So, my suggestion is for you to DYOR properly before investing.

4492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee & Crypto Scam on: March 25, 2021, 01:18:27 PM
i still don"t get why a former navy seal would agree to work under someone like John
It's called "power of the Benjamins", that's where money influence becomes overwhelming over principle. I bet McAfee's offer was irresistible for the Navy seal.

i lost what little respect i have left for John since the Ghost stunt, the guy is a bad news  Grin
I also got caught up in the GHOST stunt, though I got mine through airdrop for hodling ESH. John McAfee's public declaration of the unseriousness of the GHOST admin and what he perceived as Josh's lackadaisical attitude with ESH crashed the two projects. Till date both projects have not recovered from that crash. Later words got out of several cash McAfee collected just to shill GHOST. He really wasn't a part of it for the good of it. He was just there because he got paid upfront to shill it. I hope he gets punished for his numerous crimes against the development of the cryptocurrency industry.
4493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vanity address scam rising on: March 25, 2021, 08:12:12 AM

There are many mining pools who take fees from you for you desired Bitcoin addresses as they have more computing power dedicated to the network instead of individuals computing power

Those addresses are also risky to use, even if the mining pools are legit.
With all that I have read here now, I don't know what to make of this vanity address voluntarily generated by a wallet app I use which has the first three letters unique to me.

1KEnUFrUZmMK6CfyCGdFex8uByJyDeVB1z

I didn't do anything to generate that. I just saw it that way and felt cool about it but I haven't used it since then. Now reading all this here makes me skeptical using it. Is my wallet compromised already?
4494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First time scammed , very frustrated on: March 25, 2021, 06:04:16 AM
Scammers are now smarter, they can try to duplicate with a similarity of up to 90%. Sometimes we are careless and they are used to trick us. so you can make this experience a lesson in the future for you to be more vigilant in securing your assets
Nope, they aren't in any way smarter. It's just that most investors/traders often fail to do their due diligence patiently coupled with the tendency of greed. Otherwise, how do you relate with a random stranger online promising you something free with little or no investment. If it isn't greed on the part of he who is trying to invest then I don't know what else it should be.

It is very painful suddenly losing 0.25 eth, but it is a reality that you must accept. The bitter experience you will experience will be the most valuable lesson for you and will make you more careful in the future.
Hopefully, the OP learnt from that sad (but mandatory) experience.
4495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: PRESALE $SKIDDO THE NEXT SafeMoon where DEFI meets CHARITY on: March 25, 2021, 04:34:29 AM
There's Safemoon...

There's Safemars...

Both are in total supply of 1 Quadrillion. This I find highly surplus.

I won't even be surprised if there is a Safeearth Safejupiter or Safesun lurking somewhere and waiting for a programmer with enough time on his hand to bring to life. Now, by liking your project to "THE NEXT SafeMoon", I don't think it conjures a great image for it. If anything, it screams pump and dump or rugpull. Have you thought of that?
4496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Staking is not for Muslims on: March 24, 2021, 06:42:41 PM
Staking in crypto is like interest in Fiat.
You lend (stake) your crypto and get reward (interest) for it.
I suggest all my Muslim brother to stay away from this new kind usury.
Does that also mean Muslims don't keep fixed deposit accounts at the bank? Fixed deposits also pay interest to owners. Even until lately, savings accounts also paid interest to owners. So, I really don't get this point of you trying to sound this warning. Where is it stated in the Quran that Muslims should not engage in such business. This was the same skepticism that greeted the use of Bitcoin in 2017 by some overzealous Muslim users here. Truth remains that there are worse activities people indulge in than a harmless trading business.
4497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This is why i move to Binance Smart Chain on: March 24, 2021, 02:44:50 PM
I guess this is is really a big blow to eth network. Paying fees like that in the long run is very expensive. I do hope ethereum has solution to the network fee cause if not, binance smart chain and other dexes will take over the lead and slowly eth will become useless.
I ain't sure the ETH team is ready to stop the exploitation going on in the guise of gas fee as long as investors keep patronizing ETH. It is really sad that the team is yet to learn a thing or two from the newer smart contracts springing up. It saddens me too whenever I have to buy into a project just to find out it's only on an ETH pair, especially on a DApp. I just give up on the project and move on, no matter how great I think the project is. It's that bad for me.

The smaller the fee the bigger the project will be known. Take a look at BSC, they slowly pacing up and even surpassing the era of uniswap deals.
Uniswap has a throat slitting swap commission. I rather choose a project on the BSC DApp over it anytime any day. I guess that's what is giving Pancakeswap that popularity and growing its fan base.

4499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news for Nigerian crypto enthusiast on: March 21, 2021, 08:30:28 PM
Well, I ain't going to scream Uhuru for such expected and long overdue news. The February 5th decision by the Godwin Emefiele's led Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) banning Bitcoin was already dead on arrival. I knew it and it never panicked me for once. Whatever prompted that senseless decision has now made it receive sense. It's a policy somersault if you asked me. I believe the CBN and the commercial banks have realized how much in revenue they've lost with that action. I urge all Nigerian crypto dealers and traders to continue with the P2P and not rush to the banks to continue their businesses. If the banks caused them untold hardship by closing their accounts in an impromptu manner, what would make them trust that the banks won't do it again?

I'm really nonchalant about the revoked ban, as a Nigerian. We move!
4500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC seems to be fading out and loosing popularity. on: March 21, 2021, 07:25:14 PM
A lot of people already feel left out, Almost like they have missed the opportunity to invest in bitcoin, many are looking to invest in other alt coins. I had a conversation with a friend today about Bitcoin, investment and its very high transaction fees, he expressed his displeasure saying that like him, many others that he knew are no longer considering btc to invest in, rather, they are looking to invest in other crypto's.
Do you think it is too late for someone to invest in btc? Especially when it is not a huge sum?
I don't think it's late investing in Bitcoin ATM, though the price is high. If anything, an investment in Bitcoin is safer than that in altcoins because Bitcoin has come to stay. Besides, Bitcoin is yet to hit the projected price of $100,000 for it. There is still room for its upward drive.

Tesla is likely to buy another 10 billion in BTC.
Likely is probability and shouldn't be taken as what MUST happen. It must not be Elon who will buy that huge to drive price up.
