Congratulations to Messi and his teammates at Argentina for winning the Copa America title. Before this one, they won this cup in 1993 the last. When you think about it, it's really insane!  Grin  Argentina have had really good players for a long time. Messi is the key player of course. But they were really unlucky in the Copa America and the World Cup also. They've finally managed to make it.

Messi scored 4 goals and made 5 assists in this tournament which was a great effort. He shared the most scorer title with two other players. And he was at the top in the top assists standings. He really deserved this title I believe.

Are Manchester City going for Harry Kane and Antoine Griezmann both? I really started wondering about how much transfer budget they have now. Griezmann's market value is €60m. And I don't think that Barcelona would even think of losing him while they are having some financial problems also. They want to create funds for Messi though but they wouldn't like to lose one of their best players like Griezmann.

Manchester City should look for someone else I think.

Unluckily Guardiola seems to love playing without attackers right now.
Even in the final of the Champions League, he played without a number 9 only people from midfield going to score.

Often the most advanced player was De Bruyne.

I don't think he will change what they did until this now.

Exactly! Guardiola likes this style very much. If we look at the statistics in the last season, G. Jesus was the CF. But he didn't score more than the wingers and the midfielders. He scored 14 goals in total. Only De Bruyne scored less than him (10 goals) but De Bruyne made 18 assists too. And players like Gundogan, Sterling, Foden and Mahrez scored at least 14 goals. There is a really good goal distribution among these players. This is really good actually because City can still win the EPL title with this strategy easily.

But as they want Kane right now, they may be thinking of changing their strategy a little. Because Kane is a striker who likes to score very much. The players around him must create many chances for him to score.

When it comes to the missing players in this game, Spinazzola is still having achilles tendon injury and he is going to be missing the final game also. At England, P. Foden has a foot injury and his condition is questionable right now. But all of the remaining players in the starting eleven of both teams are going to play. The attacking lines of both teams are really deadly. At Italy, we have Insigne - Immobile - Chiesa trio and at England, we have Mount - Kane - Sterling trio on the front. Which side will manage to play better?

We'll figure it out after the game starts in 25 minutes.

I've heard a rumour like Real Madrid (actually Ancelotti) want to bring Richarlison to the team. Despite being a centre-forward, he didn't score many goals in the last season. He scored only 13 goals in 40 games in total. He's still 24 years old though. He can improve himself and be much better at finishing in time. As far as I'm concerned, the most productive age range for a centre-forward is 25-29.

So, rather than buying him now, they should make an effort for top strikers for the next season. I don't have much knowledge about their finance now but I guess they can afford one really good striker at least.

Arsenal are after Anderlecht's young central midfielder Albert Lokonga (21) and they seem to have reached an agreement on a £18m deal. Arsenal are no different than usual. They are giving more importance to young player transfers.

In the last season, he played in 27 games in the Jupiler League. He scored 3 goals and made 2 assists. I haven't heard of him much before. So I wonder whether this would be a good transfer for Arsenal. I'd actually like to see them going after bigger players but they don't change their strategy ever.  Grin
I have got to be honest, I have never heard about the guy. I really wonder how Arsenal Management feel when negotiating and making such signs while their top rivals make massive signings.

I also haven't heard about this player. It's the thing Arsenal do. They bring young players to the team and try to create a 'future squad'.  Grin  But I don't support this policy to be honest. I'm not an Arsenal fan but I sympathize with them. They're actually a big club but they're not able to win titles because of their policies. If they changed it and started to get top players also, they would also compete for the EPL title. So their main problem is not the manager I think, it is their strategies in general.

We are one night away from the third game of the series now. Now we are going to Milwaukee and Fiserv Forum will host 2 games in a row. This is a really big chance for Bucks to make the series equal. Giannis has started playing as always. His last performance was just magnificent. As long as he keeps up the great work and gets a good support from Holiday and Middleton, Bucks can even win the series. They still aren't late for anything.

Transfer rumours:

Manchester United lead Chelsea and neighbours Manchester City in the race sign England striker Harry Kane, 27, with Tottenham asking for £100m plus two of the Red Devils' first-team players. A very interesting race, who will eventually succeed and bring Kane to their club?  Cheesy
Manchester City have made contact with France forward Antoine Griezmann, 30, about a potential move from Barcelona. Very interesting news, whether Griezmann will really go to Manchester?

Before any of these transfer talks happened and before any team showed any "real" interest, I always imagined what would happen if Haaland played in Liverpool. Think about it, put mane on one side, put salah on the other side, put haaland at striker, put firmino behind haaland as well like a proper 10 and let them play. At that level you could literally just keep everyone else at defense, because those 4 will end up with finding a way to score no matter what, you would have Liverpool scoring the most goals ever.

~snip~

Haaland at Liverpool, you say. Actually it'd also be really good. Haaland would be the new Suarez of Liverpool. He would score many goals if he doesn't have big problems on adapting to the team. Liverpool like to play a quick football and it really fits Haaland. He likes it also and he's accustomed to it at Dortmund. At Liverpool, their CFs are: Firmino, Origi and Awoniyi.

Awoniyi has newly come back to the team as his loan has ended. Origi is just not good. He didn't have much chance and he didn't play good when he had the chance. He scored only one goal which was not even in the EPL. When it comes to Firmino, he was way better than Origi of course. He scored 9 goals and made 7 assists in 36 league games. But it isn't enough for a good striker also.

As a result, they'd really make use of a top striker in the next season. They can't do with Salah and Mane only. Haaland is the best choice for them but I haven't heard any news about they will make an offer for him.
4509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EURO 2020 England vs Italy - Poll ⚽ on: July 09, 2021, 08:12:32 PM
I've voted for England. Because first of all, the final game is in Wembley. They are just too lucky to have a big advantage like this. And as far as I know, they still want foreign tourists to wait under quarantine for 14 days or so. This means that they aren't going to be accepting spectators who's newly come from a different country. And only the Italian fans who are living in England are going to be able to go to the match and support their team.

With this huge advantage, I think England are way ahead already. But Italy are a really strong team. So I don't think that England will be able to defeat them in 90 minutes or even in 120 minutes. I think that we will see the penalty shoot-outs and England will be the winner side at the end.
4510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 09, 2021, 08:05:41 PM
Suns still are dominating the series. They won the second game also and made it 2-0. And the result was even nearly the same.

This time, actually Giannis didn't surprise and played superbly. He got 42 points and 12 rebounds. He did what he could that's for sure. But this time, Middleton was just too bad. He was able to score only 11 points and got around 25 percent FG. Holiday was not good enough again and he got 17 points. As Giannis didn't get their support too much, the loss was just inevitable.

I liked Paul again. He got 23 points and was close to making a double-double. This time, Bridges played so good (27 points) rather than Ayton. And Booker was in a good shape again that he scored 31 points. There was a really good teamplay at Suns and they got what they wanted.

2 days to go for the grand final between England and Italy. Denmark fought really well against England in the semi final. But they couldn't resist to England in the extra time. If we saw the penalty shoot-outs, then maybe Denmark would manage to eliminate them. I can't also say that England didn't deserve to reach this level. Maybe they didn't have as hard competitors as Italy. But still, they showed a great performance in those games.

Italy on the other hand had a really hard draw against Spain. And Spain didn't surprise us with their gameplay. But they were also the better side in 90 minutes actually. Still Italy managed to eliminate them playing smart. They've also deserved this level. It's going to be a really interesting game. I hope that we see the penalty shoot-outs this time.  Grin

Unfortunately way too many people go to Turkish league to rehabilitate and not even play too many games, and that is what happens when you get a player with some bad baggage just because they have a big name. Just the most recently Falcao went to Galatasaray and been there for 2 seasons so far, and in the first season dude played rarely ever, he literally decided not to, and then said he is injured most of the time. Dude played less than half of the games in each season he has been there.

This is a story as old as it gets, a huge name goes to Turkish league and then doesn't play. Balotelli may not be as huge as some other names but Demirspor is not as huge as Galatasaray or any of the other big name teams neither. I feel like this will end up with him playing around 15-20 games this season and that's it, probably even fired from the team by getting the owners mad.

When it comes to the Falcao example, he actually contributed quite well to the team in the games he played. In the 19/20 season, he scored 10 goals in 16 league games. In the 20/21 season, he scored 9 goals in 17 league games. But as you can see, he played for barely a half season in both years. So, you're right about it also. He is just a chronical injured player. I've no doubt that Galatasaray were happy with his performance when he had the chance. But I guess they're not happy with his big injury problems.

As for Depay, I hope he's not the next Barça flop  Cheesy

Memphis Depay has also been one of the very successful players. I also hope that he just doesn't become invisible at Barcelona. It's like there is a some kind of curse there when someone goes.

Depay was just incredibly good in the last season at Lyon. He got 22 goals and 12 assists in 40 games in total. This is really a big statistics for a winger. He is very productive if he is let playing there. He can also play as centre forward. But he doesn't contribute as much as a winger when he plays like that. I'm expecting to see him on the left wing at Barcelona. If Barcelona sign a new contract with Messi, I think that Messi would play on the right wing. And we can have Griezmann or Aguero as the centre forward (depending on the performance).

After I saw that Giannis wasn't able to play in the 6th game but Trae Young was, I thought that the series could be tied and we could see the 7th game also. But interestingly, it wasn't the case. Bucks still managed to finish the job 4-2. Trae Young played for more than half an hour but he wasn't able to contribute to the team too much.

I'm curious about what kind of a final series is waiting for us. Will it be Suns or Bucks to the championship? Honestly, my favorite team in this series are Bucks. With Giannis' coming back, they can really make it.

I've heard that Allegri wants Pogba back at the team. As he is his number one target, I wonder what Manchester Utd are going to do about it. Will they make a big effort to keep him at the team or else? He has been of the best midfielders to me. He is just great at many things so he is the player you would like to see at your team.

If Juventus succeed in this transfer, they will be even stronger than the last season. Ronaldo and Pogba at the same team sounds really good unless Ronaldo leaves the team.

According to some rumours, Manchester Utd are willing to let Donny van de Beek leave this summer. And Real Madrid are after the 24-year-old central midfielder.

He was signed by Manchester Utd for €39m on Sep 2, 2020. He only played for one season. He played in 36 games in total and had 1 goal, 2 assists. It wasn't really impressive though. He was performing much better at Ajax but it looks like he hasn't adapted to Manchester Utd fully yet. Selling him would be good for Manchester Utd financially also as they are very close to sign Jadon Sancho.

According to today's news on BBC Sport, Milan have been offered Philippe Coutinho by Barcelona.

He was playing better at Liverpool compared to the after. Ever since he was transferred to Barcelona, his performance level started to decrease gradually. He was loaned to Bayern Munich after it. He was able to score 11 goals and make 9 assists in 38 games in total. After his loan ended, he came back to Barcelona. But he didn't perform very well in the last season (3 goals, 2 assists in 14 games in total).

It looks like his adventure is closing to come to an end. I'd like him to go back to Liverpool if it weren't for Mane and Salah. But in this situation, he wouldn't get many chance to play in the starting eleven. So it is good to hear that Milan are interested in him. I hope that he can have better year(s) there if the deal is completed.

Carlo Ancelotti is finally back at Real Madrid after 6 years. He became the manager of Bayern, Napoli and Everton in this period. I'm actually really happy to see him back at the club. Real Madrid had really nice years with Carlo Ancelotti. They needed a savior now and I think they found it. I'm hoping to see Ancelotti making the right transfers for the team and helping the team become much more competitive in the La Liga and the Champions League next season.
Certainly,Madrid will do well again with Ancelotti. He's a coach that knows the system. His modus operandi is one that Real Madrid loves, his style of football, and his game formation is what makes madrid remember him.But he must focus's his attention on the defence line, with Ramos out,if not replaced with a better defender, the backline will give him problem in the upcoming season.

I'm quite sure that he will solve the defender problem at the team right now. I trust him about he will be making the right decision for the centre-back position. There are some rumours about Varane also like he wants to leave this summer. I think that they should definitely keep him at the team and do whatever he needs. As far as I remember, Zidane discovered his potential and brought him up to the first team. Now, Zidane is gone. Maybe one of the reasons he wants to leave is that. If they don't bother keeping him at the team, it looks like Manchester Utd are preparing to make an offer to him.
