Based on the situation in North American countries I can say we are going to see a much better world cup than we saw in Qatar because they have enough stadiums to host the games and unlike Qatar, they don't take it hard for the visitors in their country about drinking alcohol which can be a good reason to say people who go America for watching world cup games will have better times there comparing to Qatar.

In terms of availability of alcohol, I can assure you that fans will not be disappointed in either of these three countries. I am more worried about the visa formalities. Getting a tourist visa to the US can be next to impossible, especially if you are residing in some of the third world nations such as India or Indonesia. I don't know much about Mexico and Canada, but hopefully getting a visa to these countries should be a lot easier. But then, almost 80% of the matches are scheduled to be held in the United States. What I don't want is fans spending their hard earned money in purchasing tickets and then not getting a chance to watch the matches as a result of visa complications.

In the last 3 balls, Chennai super kings only needed 7 runs but they could not score this and lost this match.

Sandeep Sharma did an exceptional job and that is why they lost the match. His first 3 balls went for 13 runs. But he was right on target for the remaining 3 deliveries. The placement was right at the blockhole and neither Dhoni nor Jadeja could do anything about it. The middle order disappointed for Chennai Super Kings in their match against Rajasthan Royals. The three batsmen in the middle - Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu made just 16 runs from 21 balls. Ideally Jadeja and Dhoni could have batted at no.4 or no.5, and this was a tactical mistake from the CSK.

This tournament is very much over for DC, they were 5th in last IPL but yet to win a game in there 5 appearances. Warner scored 51 runs on 47 balls in last game and 65 runs on 55 balls in game against RR. I am sure his stats will be similar in other two games also, the point is despite his slow run rate he is the only one who is scoring runs. Apart from him there is one or two players who scores more then 20 to 30 runs. DC have placed responsibility of batting on Warner alone.

He is under severe criticism, from left, right and center. But strangely, none of the critics are complaining about the Indian players in Delhi Capitals, who have so far failed to score runs. Warner did what he could. He was playing against quality bowling attacks and with some support from the other players, he could have stepped up the scoring rate. Now he is under pressure and in the next match he will try to attack from the very beginning. And then the same story will repeat and Delhi Capitals will be in big trouble. Anyway, they still have 10 matches remaining in this season.

I also believe 8 to 12 test matches in one year is not possible but as I already mention if we are able to have 10 to 14 test matches in two years this is also good idea because this will increase quality and performance as well to many teams which are having good domestic system and able to bring test playing players because now they can do all their strategy with WTC final which is going to play after every two years this is also good idea but here we need to have better support from big countries as well.

The Ashes and BGT trophies are good as these teams are competitive in finance and playing quality, but others have no luxury like this which is big case here ICC and big countries can help all others which could be surely vital for this format and his long life.

Even 10 to 14 matches per 2 years sounds like a lot for me. 7 test matches per year comes to 35 days. Most of the teams don't play more than 25 to 30 ODI matches in a year and in case of T20I the number is even lower. So how can we justify spending far more days for the least popular format, when compared to the more popular formats? IMO, 4-5 test matches can be played per year. That will give an ideal balance between all the formats. If we need more than this number, then separate squads should be formed for test as well as limited overs format.

CSK still need 54 runs to win from 18 balls but MSD is not yet showing any urgency yet, trying to rotate the strike rather than going for the big hit. If he takes the team to victory from this stage it will be an incredible game plan, if not it will be an blunder.

40 runs were needed from the last 12 balls and in the end Chennai Super Kings lost by 3 runs. The slow start from both Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh Dhoni probably cost them the match. They should have shown a bit more urgency. Dhoni and Jadeja waited till the very end, and by that time the advantage was with Rajasthan. And all credit to Sandeep Sharma. He conceded two sixes (second and third balls), but then came back strongly. 7 runs were needed from 3 balls and CSK could manage only three singles.

because obviously the European leagues look much more exciting in some clubs and I think that "Magic" will go away.

I don't know about others, but I am finding club football quite boring nowadays. On the other hand, World Cup is where you will find a lot of diversity and representation from all around the world. In simple terms, it is having the same quality as club football (or even better) without the greed for money. And further more, the team bonding and cohesion is much better when compared to league football, as the players are motivated by patriotism and not by money. Even the fans behave well in world cup, when compared to the leagues.

And for the thousand times, there is no concept of PIG-4 anywhere (officially or unofficially). You keep repeating this like a broken record.

There is a concept of big-3 for sure - BCCI, ECB and CA. I added CNZ as the 4th team, since a few years back they were the no.1 test side. Back then they would have beaten anyone, including India and managed to win the ICC World Test Championship Final in 2021. Now their form has gone down, partly due to the refusal from players like Trent Boult to play test cricket, and partly due to injuries to some of their players like Kyle Jamieson. But during their peak period, they were without any doubt the no.1 test side (under the captaincy of Kane Williamson).

Looks as if Rajasthan Royals will get two points today. For the Chennai Super Kings, Moeen Ali was the last hope and just now he was nabbed by Adam Zampa. Devon Conway is still there, but his strike rate for today is not very impressive. Ambati Rayudu has come to bat now, and he is one of the 40-something players in the CSK squad. I was hoping that Ravindra Jadeja would come instead of him. Anyway, CSK is running out of wickets and balls. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be batting at 7th for CSK and his team desperately need a good performance from him.

If talking about weak sides facing India in India or one-sided matches then they should host matches against Australia only.

In my recent memory, no team gave any competition to the Indian team. 2017 BGT was very competitive, recent BGT was okay, other than that I hardly remember anyone challenging the Indian team, including Poms. Kiwis hardly count as they don't get long series.

Australia do have a number of players who specialize in test format, including Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. That is the reason why they are competitive against India. England can be competitive, with a full strength squad including Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood. The same with New Zealand as well, if they include Williamson, Boult and Jamieson in the squad. But I agree that the gap is quite wide. But at least the case with other pig-4 teams are much better when we compare them with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The day-Night setting for Test cricket should be an obvious choice, especially in the Indian sub-continent due to the hot climate but not many countries host D/N tests here. Only BCCI hosted 2 D/N tests and they are still struggling with ball quality and trying to find the balance.

Ideally, ICC should make a rule that if there is a 3 or more matches series then 1 match should be D/N. ICC could also relax its rating system for pitches in D/N matches as it's going through a lot of testing, which is related to Pink balls.

I like the idea of D/N test matches. But if these matches are being staged in India, then the opponents should be from pig-4. Matches against really weak sides such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh doesn't make any sense, as the gap between these teams and India is too huge. Such matches will only benefit the individual players, in the form of improving their career stats. Even Pakistan and South Africa are OK, but other teams (including West Indies) can't remain competitive against the Indians, especially in the test format.

Did anyone noticed that David Warner is now the second highest run-scorer of this season? He has 209 runs to his name, second only to Shikhar Dhawan. But he has been under a lot of fire, due to his very low strike rate (114.83). But IMO Delhi Capitals would have done a lot worse without him. Apart from Warner, the next highest scorer for DC has been Axar, who has just 108 runs to his name. None of the other DC batsmen has got even 50 runs to their name from the 4 completed matches. Still it is Warner who is being criticized.

What happened to Sanju Samson? He once again got out for a duck today against the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja. Rajasthan Royals was still cruising, but just now Ravichandran Ashwin got out to Akash Singh. Jos Buttler is still there, but I don't think that they'll reach a total of 180 this time around. Shimron Hetmyer is the next batsmen to come, and he is known to be a big hitter. So far the two spinners have completed their full quota of 4 overs each (Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja). That means that the remaining overs will be bowled by Tushar Deshpande and Akash Singh.

The Namibian captain has spoken against poor umpiring during the World Cup qualifier play-off matches. During the tournament, umpires made some horrible decisions, which favored the two teams considered as favorites by the ICC - United Arab Emirates and United States.

https://www.cricketeurope.com/DATABASE/ARTICLES2023/articles/000003/000362.shtml

During the match between Jersey and United States, a well set Jersey batsmen (Asa Tribe) was given out despite the ball nowhere near the stumps. This resulted in Namibia failing to qualify for the next stage, and Jersey losing the ODI status. Two native teams lost out as a result of horrible umpiring, and two teams made up of foreign players benefited from it.

These two teams India and Pakistan have devotion in almost all countries. India and Pakistan are two very popular teams. But I think if those who like to watch cricket play, they will listen to the game of India and Pakistan team. I think they have a lot of work to do.  They will finish their work later and enjoy the game of two teams first. So it can be said that many fans are still waiting to watch the game of India and Pakistan. I support Pakistan. But if there is any game of India, I will watch the match of India.  I don't miss it because I like watching India play a lot.

I have a feeling that now they are overestimating the importance of India vs Pakistan matches. Previously we used to have 1-2 matches between these two teams every year. But now, in each ICC event, we have 2-3 matches. After some time, fans will get tired of this. BTW, on the political front, the relations between India and Pakistan have stabilized. But after 12 months, general elections are due in India. Usually during this time, there is always a heightened chance of something untoward happening (during 2019 elections, it was the Pulwama attacks).

Mustafizur Rahman has been bowling 19th over in IPL for years since he was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. So, he must be one of the specialist in death  bowling and in yesterday match also, he was good for first 4 balls of 19th over but last 2 balls were hit for sixes which helped MI to need only 5 runs in the last over still Anrich Nortje showed his class and he almost pulled it but lack of support from fielders (Mukesh Kumar dropped a catch and improper throw) led him to concede required runs.

Yeah... Mustafizur Rahman is usually very reliable at depth overs. But yesterday he had a rather forgettable day. Can't blame him alone. Nothing has been working for the Delhi Capitals in this season. David Warner has been scoring runs slowly and the other batsmen are not scoring at all. Warner's captaincy tactics are also not working. And yesterday they had a good chance of win, but in the end Tim David and Cameroon Green made sure that Mumbai Indians got two points from this match. And Delhi Capitals are at the bottom of the points table, with 0 points from 4 matches.
4516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: April 12, 2023, 09:06:28 AM
It is surprising that Trump is shown on TV and discussed on multiple platforms more than the current sitting president of the US.

I can see how the US might end up voting for Trump, because at the end of the day the presidential elections are kinda just like a celebrity contest.

We still have another 18 months to go for the next POTUS elections, but Trump is leading Biden by a big margin in most of the recent opinion polls. And remember that Trump doesn't need to win the popular vote to become next president. Even in 2016, he won 3 million less votes when compared to the Democrat candidate and yet he received a majority of the electoral votes. That is how the system works in the United States. GOP do have an advantage, because there are a lot of deep-blue states where the Democrat votes are concentrated.

It's not just about Muslim countries having rules about drinking alcohol and nudity or any other rules, there are some rules in any country and all the visitors should respect these rules in Qatar, I saw many people say they can drink alcohol even in stadiums but they need to spend more money and buys more expensive tickets which is a bad side of the story when some people are allowed to break rules and some other people are not allowed.

It has nothing to do with Qatar being a Muslim country. If you have money, then you can do whatever you want in that country. Beer and other alcoholic drinks were permitted for some of the fans, who had top tier tickets, but two days before the kickoff it was announced that such drinks will be prohibited for the rest. I would rather blame FIFA for this fiasco. It was their responsibility to make sure that fans are being treated well. But then, FIFA didn't uttered a word against Qatar, when they made all these changes to the existing plans.
4518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Premier League #IPL on: April 12, 2023, 02:10:11 AM
Warner could have asked Anrich Nortje to bowl the 19th over instead of Mustafizur Rahman. Nortje was the best bowler for DC during yesterday's match and his decision to give 19th over to Mustafizur backfired when the Bangladeshi pacer conceded 15 runs. Until then, both teams had almost equal chance of winning the match. On the other hand, when Nortje came to bowl, Mumbai Indians needed just 5 runs from 6 balls. Even then he took the match to the very last ball, as both Tim David and Cameron Green struggled against his searing pace.
4519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: April 12, 2023, 01:56:26 AM
It doesn't even have to be a Muslim country. In Brazil they had laws that prohibited the sale of alcohol inside the stadium, but when FIFA brought the world cup there, they simply changed the law, and sold alcohol in the stadiums.

At the end of the day, money talks.

The problem with Qatar was that initially they announced that alcohol will be permitted inside the stadium for a limited duration. But then two days before the kickoff, they changed the rule and told that alcohol will be strictly prohibited except for those who hold the most expensive tier tickets. The fans who booked their tickets many weeks ago felt cheated and by then it was too late to cancel their travel plans. Budweiser was one of the sponsors for this event, and they also felt deceived as a result of this new restriction.

Surely it must ever be a hit for England to win a title? At the last European Championship they were very close, but Italy threw a spanner in the works. The last World Cup could have gone very differently if Italy had managed to qualify, but that does not count. England is always one of the favorites to win the title, but personally I think France is at a slightly higher level at the moment. We also see this in the performance of recent years, in which England reached the final of the European Championship once, and has not achieved anything at all in the past 20 years?

France definitely seems to be the best European side at this point. Their performance during Qatar 2022 was exceptional, before going down against a very strong Argentina in the final. And remember that they were without many of their key players, including Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema. The advantage with France is that they have got several younger players in their squad who can replace the senior players in case they get injured. I don't think that any of the other teams (including England) has this advantage right now.
