4501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shiba Inu coin and storing them safely? on: June 27, 2021, 04:27:47 PM
Hi I am a Newbie when it comes to crypto, I was hoping there is a way to store Shiba Inu and some other coins offline?
Newbie that started in 2016?
I've read people claiming they can store it on Ledger Nano S but the problem is I cannot find Shiba Inu in their list of supported tokens. Transfer it at your own risk.

Quote
Another question is Trust Wallet safe to store these coins on?

You have full control of your keys so it's safer than exchanges but it's still a software wallet.
Yes I had my first attempt back then in 2016, Cryptsy the exchange I had my coins on decided to rug pull everyones coins and steal them, I lost out id be a millionaire today, I then had no money to re invest, it happened so fast I tried withdraw my coins and they were gone just like the owners. So I had no choice but to threw in the towel, I lost about 1000 LTC, 10 BTC, and few million Doge, on top of RDD that I left on that exchange and people were telling me back then that all these meme coins itll never do anything, I had no money I was broke that was my gamble and I lost, things are slightly different now, so I have decided to gamble on some meme coins like Shiba with hopes it will hit half a cent.

As for Ledger Nanos are they not risky with hackers exploiting them all? I skimmed past an article that they were targeting them ?

There are some issues with using Ledger due to the fact that their database was hacked, but as long as you properly buy/utilize the wallet you should be fine.  One of the most important things to remember is when buying a hardware wallet you NEVER want to buy them from a third party source.  This opens you up to the possibility of buying a hacked device.  Now while Ledger wallets are not my favorite ( I prefer Trezor wallets) it is still certainly a lot better of an option to use than keeping your coins on an exchange or a hot wallet.

You might be able to create a paper wallet? But this is more so for advanced users.
4502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks to allow customers the option of hodling, selling and buying bitcoin on: June 27, 2021, 04:23:53 PM
The possibilities of higher adoption is coming faster than we expect. I believe the banking sector is beginning high level consideration of having bitcoin as a financial too in their platforms and this is going to create more growth in demand for bitcoin. Obviously the price too will begin to soar.

In addition to enabling banks to allow their customers to buy, sell and hold bitcoin within their bank accounts, Finserv and NYDIG are “working toward implementing additional functionality, including the ability for banks to implement bitcoin-based rewards programs,” the announcement notes

Quote
Banks and credit unions of all sizes can now facilitate the buying, selling, and holding of bitcoin within their banking platforms thanks to a collaboration between Finserv and New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG). Finserv currently has about 10,000 financial institution clients.

What views do you have on this?

Wow this is a pretty cool article, thanks for bringing it to our attention.  I think that it is only a matter of time before we see most, if not all banks bring the ability to buy/sell/trade bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.  As someone whom works in the financial field, I have slowly seen financial institutions come out in support of bitcoin/cryptocurrency as well as flat out state that they plan to "get in to" the market as they are hearing a lot of request from their customers.  That is really what it's all about, if there is a want/need, and the banks can make money off that want/need, then they are going to find a way to do so.

Satori chip

I agree! The Satori chip is amazing, Aya Walraven put a lot of thought, work and effort in the design.

I also like the cryptoimperator rocket coin.

Aya is a chick who designed the chips? I have seen their social media pages before and I think I have reached out to them before seeing if it was possible I could obtain some of the Satori custom chips. Do you know if this person designed all of the Satori custom chips that are out there like the Zaif Exchange, Miss Bitcoin Japan, Bit Flyer Exchange as well as some of the others like the one w/the tooth on the front of it or the one with the south african flag on it?  I sure would love to add some of these to my collection  Smiley
4505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk made tweet about animal coin again. Time to buy doge and Shiba Inu? on: June 26, 2021, 08:20:44 PM
The truth is Elon is one massive troll, and while he is an amazing businessman, he is NOT the genius that many of us falsely believed he was. I would highly recommend anyone who hasn't to watch this 2 part series put together before this whole Elon/bitcoin breakup nonsense - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-FGwDDc-s8

The truth is Elon is by no means an expert when it comes to cryptocurrencies.  If you follow is twitter and the things he's spoken about in term of crypto before, it is clear is is no where near a cryptocurrency/blockchain expert.
4506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you worry about not being able to convert BTC to fiat in future on: June 26, 2021, 08:15:33 PM
There is certainly some fair worry when it comes to this particular topic.  This is one of the big downsides of a government banning bitcoin, not having access to exchanges to be able to easily "cash out" your bitcoin.  I do however thin we'll get to the point of where bitcoin is so valuable that even if your government bans bitcoin, you'll still be able to use it for enough stuff that you wont mind not being able to cash it out for fiat.  I at least am hopeful for this to come to fruition.
4507  Economy / Economics / Re: When everybody tell you take take risk with money on: June 25, 2021, 03:24:15 PM

You can take risk with your life, you can take risk with your computer.
But nobody would tell you to take risk with them, but they all tell you to take money risk because why?

Because MONEY is the riskiest of all risk!! They tell you to take the riskiest gambling with your life. After you take MONEY risk, you are gambling with your life and death, you loss the money the future await you is hell and death!

Never go full retard!! You can take any risk but never take risk with your MONEY!!

Fuck all the people who tell you to take money risk. Smiley

I am not sure what you are exactly saying here, or if I am following 100% what you are saying exactly, but if I am following you correctly, I can say you couldn't be more wrong with your sentiment here. As a financial advisor it is my job to teach people about investing their money and why TAKING SOME RISKS is necessary for almost everyone.  Taking "risks" when it comes to investing your money is a wide ranging thing.  Some risks are much more "risky" than others.  By not taking any risks, you're going to be worth significantly less than if had taken some risks.  Risks are simply part of investing, and some risks are smaller and lesser than others.

This is poor advice and likely advice you are not qualified to give.  The fact of the matter is, you have no idea what you're talking about.
4508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth investing in coins you believe in? on: June 25, 2021, 03:10:02 PM
Coming from stocks, I deem crypto investing quite different, and I am still to get my complete understanding behind it. When talking about stocks, there are a lot of people and investors that tend to spend their money on businesses or shares they firmly believe in.
Talking about cryptos, I see a lot of people cashing out on short term for quick money, but the question is, is it worth playing it like that or better to consider the project behind the coin long-term? Regarding stocks for instance, Nvidia is a share I really do believe in and the sentiment itself is what keeps me holding the stock no matter the market. There was a huge dip in May, similar to what the crypto market is facing now, and although difficult to hold, I strongly believed in the long-term.

Regarding coins, I struggle to understand the approach people have. I am, by no means, expecting people to run down details on what they do, as we are not here to give financial advice, but a small explanation on how you address your investments: both short-term and long-term. Similarly to the stock mentioned above, I do have the same kind of interest for coin Oracle ($ORA), it’s quite new so I don’t expect many to know it. I really believe in the platform they want to create (just for context it’s a NFT market for ideas, so you just buy others’ ideas) and I would like to see their project created and support them long term, but how popular is the cashing out in cryptocurrencies? Everyone seems to be spamming to the moon to the moon, but most people seem to be selling.

This is a very interesting first and only post ever made here on bitcointalk. Call me skeptical but it would seem in reality this post is simply to promote Oracle ( $ORA).  ( Maybe I'm wrong).

Anyhow, stocks and cryptocurrencies are two entirely different things, and they should be viewed as such.  As a financial advisor by trade I often have clients asking me about investing in cryptocurrencies.  The story I have for them is the same I have for any sort of newer, higher risk investments.  One should always have a basic foundation set for their portfolio.  Once that is set, then looking in to coin projects that you have interest in can makes sense.  Of course only invest what you can afford to lose.

4509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack Dorsey vs Elon Musk(meme Master) on: June 25, 2021, 02:53:30 PM
This is news to me, but certainly news I am glad to hear.  I think this shows Elon understanding that all of the trolling and shitposting he has been doing in regards to bitcoin was not a very wise move on his behalf.  Personally I have come to realize the truth about Elon.  Yes he's a genius businessman, BUT, he is not a genius in general.  He didn't create any of his companies ( sans Space X) such as Tesla and PayPal, rather he came in a pushed others out as the cancer he is.

I am very curious as to when this is actually going to be held?
4510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee is dead, are his coins lost? on: June 25, 2021, 02:48:30 PM
Jhon McAfee has been one of the bigges figures involved in the crypto world and today he dies in Spanish Prison. I feel really bad for this news, rest in peace McAfee.

But someone has to ask it, what will happen with his cryptos, we can be sure he was holding a huge amount, so, let's keep an eye close to this topic.

We will always remember you as an awesome guy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKgf5PaBzyg

I am not sure that people should remember him as an "awesome guy".  John had a lot of negative qualities about him that I think was a negative for a good chunk of people.  One thing that he did that I'd say is hard to justify him as a "good guy" is his involvement with quite a few scammy types of cryptocurrencies.

He stated recently while in prison that he has no coins left to his name.  Whether that is true or not is probably impossible to say.
4511  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Poll, please take a moment and list your two favorite crypto coins on: June 24, 2021, 03:14:33 PM
This is a very tough call and I'm not sure I could actually sit down and decide on just two out of the now countless coins that have been created.  If I had to pick two though, I would probably go with Lealana's king kamehameha 8 coin set.  The different proofs, the amazingly detailed holograms etc make it my all time favorite coin.  I also absolutely love Kialaras so I would have to include it as well. Hard to choose just two though!

4512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New crypto that rose 168,000% while BTC and other coins where bleeding. on: June 24, 2021, 03:02:20 PM
In the second week of June, WEBDOLLAR rose up in value leaving the Crypto space in awe.
Webdollar is a mineable currency that does not require complex computation. With just your phone you are set to acquiring some WEBD. webdollar runs on its own block chain and is open source, without any official team only community contributors. There is a halving every 2 years and this led to the surge in price, now is a good time to get some before the next halving.  Visit http://Webdollar.io to mine

Who are you exactly in terms of your connection with this altcoin? After taking a quick look at the webpage, this is certainly a project that I would steer far clear of.  First off the webpage you've designed doesn't even work properly.  I was trying to read the FAQ section but wasn't even able to scroll down since there was no scroll bar available.  There seems to be very little info actually available as well.  How can we trust a project with such issues??

I would be very cautious investing in this project ( personally I wouldn't recommend doing so at all).
4513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Monero vs Zcash- who wins? on: June 24, 2021, 02:56:59 PM
I recently came across a video from Edward Snowden where he was talking shit about bitcoin due to it's privacy aspects, or I should say lack thereof.  Personally I do not want bitcoin to ever become a fully private/anonymous payment system such as Monero and Zcash.  My personal feelings are if many countries throughout this world do not even allow for basic freedoms such as women being able to drive or vote, then they sure as hell are not going to allow exchanges to operate within their borders which offer these currencies.

I am a firm believer/supporter in these types of anonymous currencies being available. There are a lot of upsides to having an anonymous currency and it doesn't have to do anything with illegalities.

That being said I've come to learn that it seems like Monero and Zcash are the two most trusted/respected of the anonymous currencies.  From what I've read and been told by friends who know was they are talking about is that Monero is superior to Zcash.  I am wondering if anyone can provide some Pros and Cons between the two?
4514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What about Litecoin? on: June 22, 2021, 05:52:30 PM
Interesting discussion/points that you raise here.  I guess I am a bit biased as I Charlie Lee and chat with him quite often, but I expect Litecoin to be around for some time.  First off I like how Charlie releases that it's never going to "beat out" bitcoin, hence why he always calls it Bitcoin Silver.  I do like the quicker/cheaper aspect of it of course.  The one thing I question and will probably ask Charlie this, but why are they moving to a Proof of Stake blockchain?  That is the one downfall that bothers me at this time.

Otherwise it's one of the best altcoin options out there due to having such a large market-cap and a well known brand.
4515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming BCH/BSV on: June 22, 2021, 05:48:21 PM
This is something that I have been working on for some time ( learning how to split off my forks from bitcoin).  I personally use either Coinomi or Ballet Wallets ( produced by Charlie Lee's brother Bobby Lee) to split my forks.  I would probably give Coinomi the nod above ballet due to ballet not having a customizable sweeping fee, where as Coinomi does.  I swept a satori poker chip ( funded collectible) and at the time bitcoin was around 10k.  I swept out $10 but only got $7 afterwards, for example of how that can backfire.
