$10 woul be insane whats the market cap at $10 thats like what 800 million from 80 mil ? i cant see that any time soon.

The problem with Eth is the huge pre-mine and the tons of coins that are already out there which limits the value of each indivudal eth.

Feel free to hop in the other thread I created for us! Dont forget this is the announcement thread guys!

we can move healthy discussions and brainstorm over here ---->  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1229966.0
lol its pretty funny how you just grabbed my post pretty much verbatim without using qoutes  , not that i really care who reads what I post but I still find it funny.

24hr volume has been over 7k before...
Accounts registered has also increased over the past week or so by over 1500 accounts

Theres a huge LTC pump going on right now as well though plus BTC price is also trending up.

Its just an overal bullish trend I think even Bitshares is bouncing up from two week lows.

I dont think you can attribute all this to Eth markets.

Bitshares?....
.....
...

lol BTS will not see close to 1800 sat for a long ass time ....
Im not getting dragged into an argument of prices lol , All I'm saying is this massive activity on Polo is not only due to Eth price spikes/news  there's a lot going on right now.

Ethereum is a "fuel" coin for the Ethereum platform, correct me if I am wrong but that does not imply a lot of intrinsic value since there are many millions of Ethers and the fees are very low 0.002 or less I think, how in the world is Ethereum then ever going to generate value for their currency?  Huh Seems to me Ethereum right now is heavily overprized?

Why does not a fuel have value? Oil has value. Coal has value.

Think of it like bit coin percentage wise yeah even if one eth becomes $50 usd

you want to run a smart contract , you might only need .05 eth to run it so the value really is speculative right now its not a 1to1 relationship.  contracts and dapps can run on fractions of  ETH similar to how you can sell/trade items for fractions of a bitcoin depending on the real market value.
4526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: October 29, 2015, 07:04:28 PM
Will Microsoft use Ethereum or an Ethereum-like technology? The difference is only in who benefits from the increased popularity - owners of ETH or owners (not existing yet) of MS-ETH. If owners of ETH - why would Microsoft want to make rich someone else?

Microsoft can buy a lot Eth itself, and develop systems around Ethereum.

MS is late for Bitcoin. Ethereum is till in its early stages. So if MS catches Ethereum bandwagon, it will be rich.

That could be the secret to the Pump, They are super late to bitcoin, but with Ethereum they can inject themselves in from the start and help shape it.  I would not be surprised if they just started funding Eth dev directly buy buying eth.

Plus Ethereum is a bit more softarewarey(yeah not a real word lol) than bitcoin i.e with smartcontracts and damp not just a glorified ledger like Bitcoin.

Ive been furiously mining Eth with around 1GH/S of hash rate for a few months and buying on the dips.  From this point on i think ill stop selling what I mine and also buy more eth weekly on the dips.

I could see this popping to $10/eth some time next year don't want to miss that boat.  What scares me more is we dont even have a killer app yet.

If Augur or one of those other etheruem based projects blows up we could be kicking ourselvs next year for not loading up.

Not a pumper myself , but i missed the early BTC boat, missed the LTC boat I'll be dammed if i miss another.  Worst comes to worst i break even and sell my hardware

The Electrician just finished up and left after he installed a 30 slot box with 5 slots  still open, finally got my 220 30 amp line hocked up to the PDU with monitoring , it's awesome .
I had a 220 30 amp put in a while back but didn't feel safe with it, so it never got used, i was using a few 120 20 amp lines, because of the mess the main box was in, now I feel a lot safer .Smiley, will use it.

Nice the S5's run better Smiley.

cya

yeah i love my 200 amp box as well, cost me around $1500 though Sad

You got a 'deal' where I'm at Xcel (power company) reps and the Electrican and the State Inspector ...ALL have to be present PHYSICALLY at the same time after completion ...for the Power to be turned back on

Base price 200 amp service is 2500 bucks and it goes higher if it is more then 1 stick of conduit and elbow and panel ...goes up also by 'how complex' it is

Fun times. So I slip buy with my 100 amp 32 slot panel. (2 titans 2500w) I have no central AIR and use GAS for heat..so it has worked....although I've never been brave enough to turn the Elec Dryer and Stove on at the same time with the Miners on 24/7.

(squeaked by)

I have Execl too , but being the home owner i claimed i was doing all the work myself found an electrican on craigslist to do all the work for 1k with my supervision of course.  Paid $500 for parts and $300 for the inspection permit.

so yeah with the permit it was actually $1800 .  And i dont know why they told you that , on the pre-inspection the inspector was fine with us doing all the work over the weekend then comming to inspect it later during the week.
4528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Having trouble mining Ethereum on: October 19, 2015, 07:20:56 PM
What about the power consumption when mining ethereum? Any info?

Not sure what you mean by this , the power consumption depends on  the card not on the Algo you are mining.  X11 gives you a higer Hash rate than scrypt on the ALgo basis but youre
still pushing the card to its limits so power consumption does not change.

a 280x pulls around 240 at the wall

this is incorrect, the power consumption depends on the Algo, the same card can pull for example 270w on scrypt or less than 200w with other algos. you can find a lot of tests on bitcointalk, like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=694431.msg7916782#msg7916782

Thats because the Algos are not fully optimized for the cards, it depends on how hard you are taxing the cards, if an algo only taxes the GPU's by 30% it will or course use less power but all that means is you are not using the full potential of the card.

Why even make an announcement here if you don't intend to sell product to the community.  You could have trippled your sales with the interest alone.  Your last venture may have been your last venture I'm afraid!

I suspect they originally had the gameplan of selling them like gridseeds to public.   One thing they might not of got this time was a just extreme profit.  If you remember the blades and scrypt when first started going asics gear was HIGH and it dropped overnight in price and kept dropping.

So either they could not make chip's and miner for a decent profit, or they decided to mine internally.   I really think since they had chips that beat anything out there they might have saw a long term profit mining themself.  Assuming they have cheap electricity (which we can since china).  They have the most efficient LTC chip out, heck no one else is even talking about devloping a scrypt chip ATM that I know of.

So if they made a batch or two filled up a small data center they could capitalize on LTC.  So I think either they gave up or decided to go internal (or some bulk buyer).   But I really don't think gave up as they did make the chip.
Yeah they went the KNC route

@spartacus

So what..  You 'judge' it as a failure...?  Already?  With the money thing, yeah..  Some money (maybe) has been squandered.  But they can't give up this early in the game.  But I fear for Buterin.  That blog shows how weak willed and weak minded he is in the face of adversity.  A lot of people are depending on him.  So he shouldn't be writing such blogs.

Lol so he should bury his head in the sand and do nothing ? There were alot of rumors and innuendo floating around he had to do something.

The fact is the lost alot of key people when the eth payouts finally went out and he had to address it.
4533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH collapsing. NxT UP. on: September 29, 2015, 06:03:01 AM
ETH development is taking longer than people hoped, that is all.

The price is still far above the 2000 etc/btc presale price (50,000 satoshi)

How can you say tho with a straight face BTC was nearly 3 times higer than it is now
At at 2000/btc rate.

So its actuly closer to 700 eth per btc

Can we get back to discussing the SP50? 2 pages of random ass stuff...

Hard to discuss what isn't yet in the wild Wink

Seriously though, why is BTCS stock not leaping up on the news?
Because people are not stupid  only thing BTCS does is mine bitcoin
Hello how bout I just buy my own coins.

It makes more sense than buying some stupid stock
4535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is there any altcoin you can mine with GPU? on: September 23, 2015, 06:53:15 PM
Nah mine etherum or its, clones most profitable right now

Not for a newbie, no. Ethereum can only be exercised on Linux and under many different requirements. It's very confusing to those not fully computer-literate and able to exercise code. Eth is just a new idea with a high price tag.

Its getting easier to mine from what I have heard there is now Althone which works from your windows desktop but ,

Mining with GPU's in general is not as easy as ASICs,  yeah I am interested in mining Lyra and some others but then I have to figure out what kernel to use, what version of CGminer etc etc
4536  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: September 23, 2015, 06:40:32 PM
RIP profitable hobbyist mining on 120V circuits.

The ROI math using assumed pricing for these beasts doesn't even make them seem that profitable for large-scale mining.  I don't think any of the current gen hardware will ROI before the halving less than a year away.

It's an impressive machine, but coming on the heels of the S5+ and S7 I don't like the trend of "bigger bigger bigger" in both physical footprint and electricity demand.

I wonder where we'll be a year from now, 12.5 btc block rewards and 100 billion network diff...

I anticipate a BIG boost in bitcoin price by the halving.  We can expect the climb to begin by March/April 2016.  Buy BTC cheap now while you still can.

Here's a great thread to follow regarding bitcoin price and speculation:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=274613.3820;topicseen

I looked at the numbers...if it is 44k for miner, you could do much better by simply buying $1260/wk  worth of BTC between now and July.
$1260 is the amount of income that SP50 produces in a week right now considering 8.5c electricity.
By July 2016 you would have spent $44K and have all of that bitcoin vs being ~minus 8K at current BTC prices and have no bitcoin (with ~200-205 total bitcoin produced, then sold). If bitcoin abruptly goes to $600 on April 30 without much change beforehand (just as an example) and stay there afterwards, you would be able to accumulate about 191 BTC (~165 before april 30 and ~26 until July 30) vs IN THE BEST case producing almost the same amount of btc and using at least 50% (if not 100%) to pay for miner and electricity. therefore, slowly buying BTC (if you think that it will increase in april-may) is a better strategy.

Check my numbers and prove that i am wrong, but sometimes the best strategy is not to play.

@Biodome

yeah those are some great numbers to be honest you brought me back to reality.  Lets be real here , with the block halving less than a year away at current prices BTC is really cheap if you really look at it at $230 usd.

There is no doubt there will be a nice run up into the halving similar to what happened to LTC and it could start early next year a month or two before the halving potential gains could be really nice vs being tied to a huge piece of hardware that cost you $44k

I think im setting up a weekly auto buy of around $500 usd on BTC at these current prices and I will let it ride rather than buy into this new hardware dream.

Don't get me wrong if the sp50 comes in at a $20-30k price point for a huge group buy this equation changes drastically and hardware would be the way to go.
4537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NEW SPONDOOLIES SP50!!! on: September 23, 2015, 05:27:06 PM
I will try to buy some.  This decreases the amount of wiring and work to setup, so its a labor saving for me.

Better have some help lined up for when it arrives. It must weigh in excess of 100 pounds. Of course maybe you just tote around 50Kg objects all the time.....  Smiley

I imagine you would have to assemble it.  The PUSU's will probably shipped separately from the blades and the enclosure as well.  My 4k CFM fan and its enclosure were shipped like this.  The Enclosure box while heavy was just really just 2 inches thick, flat aluminum panels and screws attached as well as framing.   I don't think they will do anything different.

Yeah realm this,is a game changer, I just upgraded my basement to 200amp service and also getting another 150 amps in my garage I could handle two of these units, please someone start a group buy for this now!
.even with my bad electrity costs that's only $50 per day for that massive hashrate

Please Guy hook us up!

are you guys millionaires? dropping at least 50-52K at the moments notice.
Not even close but this hardware if/when available its a good investment
I think a bunch of folks like me have been watching and waiting not buying or
Mining waiting of 2015 hardware lists to shake out

I need two of your 2880 watt breakout boards, and around 40 of your high quality extra long pci-e cables

Need to price that cost vs buying new psus that would come with cables since I have two spare 2880 psus witoute power cables I bought when I thought my breakout boards were bad.

I could also use the long 3 prong power cables you sell as well

Thanks
