4521  Other / Meta / Re: Should we post for members or guests? on: September 23, 2020, 01:07:26 PM
It is to remind posters that their efforts are not just seen by members, but by a whole army of lurkers and guests.
This is not something I've taken a breath to think about, but it's pretty true and there are prolly many guests that have been helped by this forum, they may not be contributing overall to the community in a way we all will see, but it could put a 'big grin' on the faces of users here that their efforts is appreciated not only by users they 'know' (registered users), but an unfathomable number of lurkers, who prolly might have lost their Bitcoins, been scammed through giveaway scams, revealed their seed phrases to others etc, if not for their posts, it's pretty comforting tbh.
edit: imho you don't need to lure people in. I wasn't lured in and found my way to this forum anyway.
When users are 'lured' to a forum, maybe based on financial benefits, they don't last long, especially when the initial incentive is taken away.
4522  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CDC has lost it as it says corona doesn’t spread through air. on: September 23, 2020, 11:59:15 AM
Just look at the mass spreading of corona in the beginning. They happened at mass gatherings where 1 person would affect 200-300 other people without any physical contact. Of course the virus is spread through air.
I don't know how possible it is for one person to infect 200 people with Corona virus, what I think was happening then was one person infecting another, while the other person passes the virus to someone else and on it goes. The virus imo cannot travel in air too far or suspend in the air for too long, and for the droplets of an infected person to land on the nose or mouth of someone else, they have to be within touching distance/physical contact. As the article says, the CDC are expected to update the guidelines soon, so I think they'll provide more information on all this, and there is no need to fret.
4523  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Covid masks are dual-use for privacy on: September 22, 2020, 07:42:29 PM
but in time, it's sure to arise suspicion and a more mandatory banned would be required to end it's trendy as criminals can also hijack the opportunity to perpetuate malicious master minds or organized crimes.
Masks worn by criminals, which covers the whole face leaving just the eye, is different from the type worn to prevent covid-19 spread, which only covers the nose and mouth, and one is pretty much recognizable when putting them on, so it's not possible that criminals are going to adopt that. And btw even before masks became a normal thing to wear on the streets this year, crimes have been perpetrated with criminals on masks Wink.
4524  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CDC has lost it as it says corona doesn’t spread through air. on: September 22, 2020, 07:29:18 PM
and now CDC is repeating the same mistake and risking life’s by spreading misinformation about corona.
Trump may have downplayed covid-19 in the U.S., but I don't think the CDC are risking any life with earlier guidelines released which included airborne risks, if you ask me, they are actually doing everything possible to make sure people are safe, and sometimes that can lead to a little misinformation. Mind you that Corona virus is still a pretty new virus, and is still being studied, so not everything about it is known yet, and you can't expect a 100% accurate information all the time. That being said, as per your article, they didn't say the virus "spreads through air", but that:
Quote
The health agency had said COVID-19 could spread through airborne particles that can remain suspended in the air and travel beyond six feet.
4525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you determine if an altcoin is worth investing in? on: September 22, 2020, 06:22:00 PM
I check it out with my friend that he is good with researching, also you need to have some whale friends to know if they are dumping their seed tokens or not
Mind you that leaving your research for your friend(s) to do is pretty bad when determining an altcoins worth, as an investor, it remains your duty to do your research all by your self (meaning DYOR). Do not for all that BS that there are particular people who are experts/good in research, if you want to invest your money in a coin, do a research on the team, their whitepaper, etc yourself.

That being said, I don't understand the part you said "one needs a whale friend", do you advice investors to search for whales, I don't even think whales make themselves known, it's another terrible advice, novices can fall for scammers who could pretend to be whales if they try to follow this advice.

4527  Economy / Economics / Re: UK planning sliding window lockdown methadology on: September 22, 2020, 11:19:20 AM
Because even if they open them after a while , what would be reason of shutting them down in the first place ?
I don't think the regions will be opened up just a while after they are shut, imo they are going to be shut till the government can see any desired improvement in the number of new covid-19 cases, it makes no sense to close particular regions to contain the spread of the virus and then open them up when there are no positive changes.
I'm curious as to why what kind of lockdown is that. But I think that will be the same as what other countries will do for certain regions or cities or municipalities.
It is, at least in my own country, it is already counter productive to just lockdown every region in the country, both areas with very few covid-19 cases and the worst hit regions, this lockdown method is prolly the best imo, to contain the virus and to make sure the economy of the country is also still functioning.
I doubt the effectivity of this lockdown method, when the most relevant method to contain the spread of the virus is to close the borders and prohibit any foreign and non-resident entry.
This method was used earlier, and most countries cannot continue with it, especially countries that are reliant on tourism. That being said, I don't think there's any country whose borders is completely open to foreigners, they are allowing foreigners only based on tourism and essential reasons and they still have to abide by the covid-19 protocols. Closing borders again completely will make the economy worse than it already is.
4528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 22, 2020, 10:52:05 AM
Of course, tell me any club on the planet where Van Dijk is not desirable? Why is Barcelona so special here?
I am not fan of Liverpool, but why would a player(VVD in this case) want to leave a great club with a great atmosphere and going to club with fully ruined relation? Plus, they haven't money for this transfer, they haven't money for his salary. their behavior towards until recently the most important players in the club it’s embarrassing to say the least. why would anyone want to come into something like that.
I don't think Barcelona can sign Virgil for now, but don't forget that despite any internal problems in Barcelona's hierarchy, it's still a dream club for almost every football player (and that will included VVD). Virgil has been one of the best signings Liverpool have made in a very long time as he solved all their defensive problems and they would surely not be losing him to any club, not even Barcelona anytime soon.

That being said, Barcelona have pulled through with big money moves for Griezman and Coutinho in recent times, so even if they are to sign Virgil, I do not think the money is going to be the problem, the only reason why this deal isn't possible is because Virgil is having a perfect time at anfield and Barcelona are a bit unstable at the moment, but I can't rule it out from happening in the future.
4529  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Funds went missing on a transfer from Binance to Coinbase on: September 21, 2020, 10:30:50 AM
Afaik, coinbase wallet doesn't support USDT, so your funds are stuck and cannot enter your wallet, neither have you got your private keys since it's a custodial wallet. You just have to contact coinbase support team to see if they are going to help you with your stuck funds, that's the only way to recover your funds.
4530  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why should I use hardware wallet on: September 21, 2020, 10:24:26 AM
4. If I use hotwallet like electrum, does that mean my funds will be stolen?
Let me add something, there's no wallet you'll use that you'll be sure to lose your funds, for example, even if you choose to use a custodial wallet, an exchange wallet for example, you could go many years without losing your funds (nor the exchange hacked). That being said, doesn't mean your funds are actually safe, you're just lucky so far. Your coins are not safe, you've just not lost them yet.

What I mean is electrum hot wallet is perfect, and it's a non-custodial wallet, but if you want extra security and also want your coins offline (cold storage), getting a hardware wallet is your best option, you could also use a different (new or newly formatted) device to hold your funds (a device that should never be connected online) if you can't get a hw wallet.
2. Is our funds totally safe on hardware wallets?
See: Getting a hardware wallet doesn't mean your funds are completely safe
4531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: September 20, 2020, 10:58:37 PM
Guardiola has a great chance of winning the Premier League title from Liverpool this season because throughout the season they will not compete in the Champion League.
That is not true mate. Manchester City are in this seasons (2020/21) champions league, mind you that they won their appeal against the two year ban handed down by UEFA, and the CAS cleared them of all wrongdoings (except a small fine). That being said, they are still the most favorites to take the title away from Liverpool and with the depth in the team, playing in the CL should not slow them down in the epl.
If Liverpool can win the first 5 matches in a row, the league is over I think.
No, it's too early to say that.

Thiago’s only just in the door & we’re making moves again Grin

Diogo Jota for £35,000,000
Klopp (Liverpool) is spending wisely, City signed Torres and Ake, but I don't think any of those players addresses their main problem (which is their defense). Liverpool's midfield is the area they needed to strengthen, and they did so with one of the best midfielders in Europe atm, and imo, it's a massive boost to retain their title. Mane, Salah and Firminio need extra back up, and if Jota is signed, that's quite a great signing as a makeshift attacker, plus Jota will provide a very good option in cup games and give one of the three main attackers a rest.

Chelsea signed 5 players or so, but if Liverpool get Jota to add to Thiago Alcantara's signing, I feel they've done the best business amongst their fellow title contenders.
4534  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Privileges as Hostage: How it could Push Countries Toward China on: September 19, 2020, 07:00:59 AM
But the reason could simply be based on hollow grounds: what could be interpreted as gossips, false information, lobbying from the opposition, highly exaggerated reports and figures, blown-up descriptions of the situation on the ground, lop-sided and biased media reports, and so on.
I don't think so, the EU have tried to caution Rodrigo Duterte on some of his policies in the country since he came to power in 2016, but from what it looks like, Rodrigo has been defiant to the EU's concerns, even calling the union 'stupid' at one point, see the exerpts below:
Quote
Since the Duterte administration took office in 2016, EU has consistently raised concern over the deaths from government’s drugs war, and other human rights abuses thrown against the program. In 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte himself called the 27-member bloc “stupid” for criticizing his anti-crime stance.
'Rodrigo vs the EU' seems to have been brewing for some years now, in 2018, after Duterte had initially issued threats of rejecting any donations from EU, he and his administration rejected aids sent from the EU to their country.
Quote
Even before that in 2017, Duterte has repeatedly said he would reject any donations coming from the EU, a threat that was fulfilled, at one point in January 2018 when economic officials rejected P380-million in aid from the bloc.

Removing Gsp+ tariff privilege at this period in time will be indeed devastating for exporters in the Philippines, while the pandemic will make the situation even worse. Rodrigo Duterte and his administration have to come to an agreement to either abide by the EU's policies on human rights/political issues or just pull out from the organization totally.
4535  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Indonesia and covid19 on: September 18, 2020, 10:03:03 PM
Seeing that other countries are safe from Corona and have started living a normal life, working and doing activities as usual
I don't know of any country that citizens have started living normally, even in countries that handled the pandemic well and have pretty low number of new cases, there's still restrictions and many measures/guidelines to prevent covid-19 spreading, that's the same case in your country Indonesia and I'm pretty sure there's no total lockdown in Indonesia, so it's almost the same situation with other countries.

Indonesia has a total of 236,519 cases and daily cases rising above 3k, so the covid numbers are still high. It's a sad situation not only in your country, but everywhere in the world, take a look at the unemployment numbers in the U.S, but it is what it is and hopefully a vaccine will be in circulation soon and things can maybe fairly return to normal by 2021.
4536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First Part of ETH 2.0 Is Formally Submitted on: September 18, 2020, 07:59:34 PM
If it is delayed again and postphoned to 2021, we might have a huge dump.... people may start to discredit the project roadmap and previsions.
Holders on the ethereum network are expectant of the launch of eth 2.0 and it has already been delayed for long, but that being said, I doubt people will dump their eth, if 2.0 isn't launched this year. Ethereum price is doing very good now and even if eth 2.0 is not launched this year, I think people will use the chance to accumulate more ethereum, till version 2.0 is launched (which will prolly set a very good price appreciation in motion)
Is it possible for ETH2.0 to be totally launched this year?
It's possible, I'm sure the developers are working to make it a possibility this year, but it's been delayed in the past, so I'll not be surprised if we have to wait till 2021 for ethereum 2.0.
4537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Biden: 8 Women Allege Misconduct Against Him on: September 18, 2020, 11:47:04 AM
So that's about 26 and 8 reported sexual assault allegations for both Trump and Biden respectively, but is there even anything to discuss in all of this, they are going to deny the claims and the supposed victims do not even have that much of a sufficient proof to argue their case, even in court. Being Democrats doesn't also proof that those women are actually making legitimate accusations nor does it exempt them from accusations of possibly being bribed to make this allegations of sexual assault.

As for Kamala Harris, I think she'll obviously take Biden's side that he is not guilty of any of this sexual allegations, i don't think there's any possibility of her pulling out of the race alongside Biden due to all this, and even in the bigger picture, this will also not affect their strength in vying for president and vice of the United States of America.
4538  Economy / Economics / Re: Enough with BITCOIN SAVE us or the economy on: September 17, 2020, 11:18:46 PM
Is there an event/situation/tragedy/or something that occurred gone by without calling up bitcoin into it Bitcoin is now the focal point of revival to a bad period/situation
There is a reason why people think of Bitcoin that way, and to say the least, the reason is somewhat genuine, People want to know if Bitcoin can be regarded generally as a "safe haven asset" and if they can hedge their funds from devaluation and inflation using Bitcoin, that's the main reason why when 'traditional aseets' are falling during a crisis or major govt decision such as printing money from thin air, Bitcoin (gold/silver too) gets into the picture, and imo, I don't see any problem with it at all, it's btw helpful in btc adoption and in the process a win win for us all.

Bitcoin being decentralized and different from the kind of money people have come to use and understand provides a different sort of opportunity for it's users, this year for example, have seen many corporations (MicroStrategy for example) adopt Bitcoin, converting their fiat to btc and making it their reserve asset, and that's because they believe "Bitcoin can save them" and their aseets from devaluation. Big firms have bought into this idea, which is indeed true and worth any risks they and their shareholders are taking converting millions of dollars to Bitcoin.

Tl;dr, anti-inflationary (decentralized) assets like Bitcoin will always gain more traction when centralized money and economy plunges (or in a cisis situation) cause of the opportunity it provides to hedge against inflation/devaluation.
4539  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump: Former model Amy Dorris alleges sexual assault in 1997 on: September 17, 2020, 08:29:06 PM
It's been happening in my country too (and many parts of the world) were women come out to accuse prominent individuals or just when a person is about to vie for a political/social position of rape/sexual assault, it somewhat weakens the argument on the part of the supposed rape victim, cause proving a rape incident after more than a decade you claim it happened is as good as zero and why the person only decided to speak up 'now' is another question. Many of this accusations is only directed at defaming the character of the accused, I'm not saying they cannot be true, but c'mon, 26 allegations levelled against one person looks more like random people are just cooking this up (due to hate) or being paid to slander the accused everywhere on the internet.

In Biden and Trump's case, it's even more difficult to form an opinion, when you're making an accusation against the POTUS or a guy vying for that position, it's immediately discarded as a political/payed move, and tbh most of it is. This or anymore accusation before the November election will have zero effects honestly and everyone will move forward after a few days 'furore'.
