4521  Other / Off-topic / Re: To help at this covid-19 time includes landlords cutting down rents for tenants on: March 25, 2020, 03:29:53 PM
Here in India, very few of the landlords accept any form of digital payment. 90% of them want the rent in hard cash, because they never show this income in their IT returns. In metro cities such as Bangalore and Chennai, the situation has become really exploitative. The landlords demand one year rent in advance, if you want a decent house in a safe neighborhood. And the COVID 19 outbreak has made no impact on these exploitative practices.

Exactly, 28 years ago on this day, March 25, Pakistan won their first ever One day International world Cup in 1992. It was a day to remember and a rejoice for the nation.  Smiley   Happy Memories.

The Pakistani team of 1992 was legendary. They were captained by their best ever captain (Imran Khan, who is now the Prime Minister of Pakistan). The Pakistani pace battery back then was probably the best at that time. They had bowlers such as Wasim Akram and Aaqib Javed. Even the batting lineup was very strong, including Inzamam-ul-Haq, Aamir Sohail, Javed Miandad, Rameez Raja and Moin Khan.
4523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't just hold your altcoins for a long time! on: March 25, 2020, 03:01:26 PM
and also actually holding altcoin in the long run is a bit risky, unless you choose alt which is really good like eth, bnb, xrp and others at the top.
if you only hold new coins listed in the market and hope the next 6 months will rise, it is too risky.
80% of projects listed in the market will not last for a long time.

Even holding the coins that you have listed is risky. ETH lost more than 90% of its value in 2018, due to the destruction of the ICO market. The less we talk about other alts such as XMR, that much better. Cardano lost an unbelievable 98% of its value in 2018. And there is no guarantee that it is not going to happen again. Even Bitcoin has lost more than 50% of its value so far this year.

Also find the estimate of loss faced by the PCB by not having the tournament playoffs.

They should look at the positives. Only 3 matches were cancelled. The remainder saw huge crowd response and the revenues were much higher than what they were anticipating. On top of that, the tournament went nicely, without any safety issues. Dozens of foreign players, including some of the T20 stars took part in the matches. Given these facts, I would say that the PSL 2020 was a grand success.
4525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Managers and Shit projects on: March 24, 2020, 06:55:23 PM
Loyal bounty campaign managers are not willing to conducted random or shit/garbage projects. I know them who's managers always going for legit projects. They’re not greedy for some money to conduct possibly scummy bounties. Rejecting a lot of projects and conducted which one looking trustworthy in their analyze. Mangers nothing do for any kind of failed projects. You can get worthy projects in reputed managers.

There are a number of very good bounty campaign managers here. But once in a while they also become victim of the scam projects. There is no ICO with a 100% guarantee. So the bounty campaign manager, along with the investors and the bounty hunters need to take a certain amount of risk. But from what I have seen, these managers get a lot of unfair criticism if the project fails.

From what I have heard, the rules being laid for the lockdown are extremely strict. No one can venture outside their own homes, without explicit permission from the authorities. And I don't think that they'll lift the lockdown completely after just 21 days. The restrictions may be eased in a phased manner. And for the IPL, the BCCI needs to get all the arrangements done, at least a week before the tournament. For example, they can't get the pitch ready in a day or two. It takes at least a week.

Yeah then in that case seems very hard to have IPL this season. Can't we have 2 matches a day and make the season a quick one?

IPL 2019 had a total of 60 matches, with each team playing a minimum of 14. So ideally of they can schedule 2 matches per day, then it may get completed within a month. But the problem is that the TV revenues will go down, if we have two matches on weekdays.

Just today, 2020 Japan Olympics got postponed by a year. There will be no surprises if same happens to 2020 edition of IPL as well.

LOL.. Olympics happens once every four years and therefore they can postpone it by an year. But IPL is an annual event and they can't postpone it. There is another edition of the tournament scheduled for 2021.
4527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: March 24, 2020, 06:42:18 PM
I don't really care about these "hypothetical results". Let's stick with the real game, rather than transgressing to the virtual world. Already the popularity of physical sports is going down, because today's youth don't want any physical activity and they are hooked to their mobile phones. The last thing I want is real cricket to get replaced with virtual cricket. I understand that all the tournaments and bilateral tours have been either cancelled or suspended due to the COVID 19 outbreak. But I would rather wait for a month or two, rather than choosing these virtual and hypothetical games.

BTW, I was missing both Royse777 and JSRAW. Nice to see you guys back!!!
4528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever lost access to your Bitcoins? on: March 24, 2020, 06:31:46 PM
Some of my friends were among the early adopters. A few of them got their first coins in 2012. And back then the prices were really low, and most of the users were being careless with their coins. A lot of them lost their holdings by storing them in exchange wallets, or in online wallets where 2FA was not enabled. Even I made the same mistake, when I started collecting coins in 2017. But have to say at this point that I was more lucky when compared to the other users in retrieving lost coins.
4529  Economy / Economics / Re: Will India be more progressive in the coming years? on: March 24, 2020, 06:17:55 PM
Being an Indian, I would say that the Indian government doesn't hold any blind hatred towards cryptocurrencies. India is a country with a huge grey/black economy, and therefore the government is concerned about the usage of cryptocurrencies for purposes such as tax evasion and crime. And I have to say that their concerns are very logical. In the recent months, we have seen some of the hostile policies towards cryptocurrencies being removed. And that makes me optimistic about the future.
4530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to protect bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies from hackers. on: March 24, 2020, 06:11:45 PM
In fact, it is almost impossible to secure your funds 100% from hackers. There are many ways, but it is 100% impossible to do it .
We all know that is impossible since every system always has some kind of flaw, however it is not really necessary, you only need to take some basic precautions and that will be more than enough to reduce the chances of a hacker stealing your coins, if you buy a hardware wallet, use a safe operating system like Linux and you create long passwords and never repeat them then you will be safe from most attacks that hackers could take against you and your coins.

Nothing can give 100% protection against the hackers, but it is possible to have 99.9999% protection. And I think that it is as good as 100%. If you take all the basic precautions, then only in some rare cases (such as the recent $45 million robbery involving BTC and BCH from Chinese user Zhoujianfu through SIM swap) the hackers can steal the coins in your wallets.
4531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Corona virus (COVID19) Effect in Cryptocurrency Gambling on: March 24, 2020, 06:06:24 PM
Even though it is possible for gamblers to turn into online gambling because of the outbreak, I wouldn't think that gambling sites would be flooded by a lot of gamblers because, not all can afford to still play even if they are no longer capable to work because of the quarantine. I think that, a lot of gamblers would be focusing more on their resposibilities and needs in their house because, it is still unsure on when will the outbreak ends.

Well.. the stock markets have gone down by almost 40% during the past two months. We are going through the first economic recession since 2008. Within a month or so, many companies (mostly airlines, hotels.etc) may go bankrupt and we may see millions losing their full-time jobs. Under such circumstances I can foresee a revenue dip for the online gambling sites, along with all other legitimate business.
4532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19: Avoid casino, play online on: March 24, 2020, 05:59:45 PM
When the government found that the casino still open, they will force the owner to stop the casino and close it for temporary because that can make other people's lives in danger. The government doesn't want to see another victim of the virus, so they need to do that, and they will make sure that their people will be safe. People can move to online gambling, and they will have a chance to enjoy and have fun with online gambling games too.

If they don't like online gambling, then they can just stay at home with their family.  Grin

On a lighter note, here in India various sources are claiming that extra-marital affairs have gone down by 99%. Married couples are being forced to stay at home, and their paramours are finding it really hard to satisfy the urges.  Grin But then we have the remaining 1%, who are courageous enough to continue with their illegitimate relationships... even at the time of COVID 19 epidemic.

4533  Economy / Economics / Re: Btc going to 2k or 3k or 7k or 9k on: March 24, 2020, 05:53:24 PM
The next block reward halving is less than two months away. Let's hope that the supply-demand equilibrium would change for the better, once the new block reward set in. But to be honest, I am not expecting an immediate spike. Remember what happened in 2012 and 2016, when we had similar block reward halving events. The spike came 6 to 12 months after the halving event.
4534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 24, 2020, 05:47:22 PM
With the government decision of locking down for next 21 days starting from tomorrow it seems that most likely that IPL may get cancelled as even after 21 days it will depends how the situation is and still would require some gap in order to juts take some precaution. So now this year we have to stay without IPL and quite heavy losses to many people and business associated with it.

Well if we count 21 days from now we will have lockdown till 14th April and BCCI has suspended IPL till 15th April. So I think we can still have IPL this season unless there is furthermore extension to that lockdown period. All depend on how situation goes on later on here.

I still hope for IPL this season if situation resolves by 3rd-4th week of April.

From what I have heard, the rules being laid for the lockdown are extremely strict. No one can venture outside their own homes, without explicit permission from the authorities. And I don't think that they'll lift the lockdown completely after just 21 days. The restrictions may be eased in a phased manner. 4535  Economy / Economics / Re: India - Complete Country Lockdown - Is it on the Verge of Economic Crisis ? on: March 24, 2020, 05:41:43 PM
Authorities have said that people should not step outside their houses. This is impractical as well as unenforceable. In a country of 1.4 billion people (including some 30 million illegal immigrants), how can the authorities make sure that everyone stays at home? Even if this lock-down succeeds, I am not sure whether everyone is having enough food and other essential supplies with them to survive for that long.
4536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The Trilogy we've all been waiting for! on: March 24, 2020, 05:35:41 PM
IMO, the only way Gennady Golovkin can defeat Caneolo Alvarez is through knockout. The jury is extremely biased, and they will never allow an UD against Alvarez. This has happened two times before. GGG won both the fights, but the biased judges refused to acknowledge that. My prediction is that this time GGG will knock out Alvarez, to avenge the humiliation he had last time. My only concern is his age.

Both fights could have went either way, they were extremely close to be honest.

However, if you look back at the interviews surrounding the second fight (after the first draw), both fighters said they got robbed by getting a draw.

Both fighters also promised a knockout in the second fight in order to take the decision away from the judges, but we all know the second fight ended with a decision.

Third fight will probably go exactly the same way, both fighters will promise a KO, GGG will lose by a narrow decision once again.

During both the fights, I was closely following the scores predicted by various media channels such as CNN and MSNBC. All of the major channels had GGG leading comfortably. But when the official scores from the judges came, it went in favor of Alvarez. I have seen this manytimes and I would say that what happened to GGG has happened to many talented boxers before. A few that comes to my mind right now are Jessie Vargas vs Khabib Allakhverdiev, Timothy Bradley vs Manny Pacquiao and Lennox Lewis vs Evander Holyfield.
4537  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we agree BTC is not a store of value? on: March 24, 2020, 05:24:16 PM
There can be arguments both against and in favor of this. Bitcoin satisfies certain conditions which qualify for usage as a store of value. For example, it is protected from inflation through the principle of controlled supply, and at the same time it is not controlled by any of the central banks or financial institutions. But at the same time, its volatility and limited liquidity goes against the usage for such purpose.
4538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 24, 2020, 05:16:42 PM
Those who are patriotic players, they will reject any amount of money for the country cause. After all it is because of their country they got the fame and I like those people who have such feelings. But I think players should not be tested and schedules should be flexible for the games. Also IPL fans also want to see all the players to be in action and anyone missing the tournament because of national commitment will be missed.

You have to draw a line. In today's world, each and everything has a price. If he is included in the Australian squad (which in all probability will happen), then Cummins will be in dire dilemma. The amount we are talking here ($2.2 million) is almost 10 times the amount he can get from playing for Australia for an entire year. I am just saying that it is going to be a very tough decision.
4539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coins are your safe haven now? on: March 23, 2020, 06:10:10 PM
Initially, bitcoin had been the coin that i hold for long term but for about a year i decided to try some altcoins as well and it has been great all these while. I have been holding BNB, ETH and LINk for quite sometime now and i know these projects are going to come out great in the near future to increase my profits.

I would applaud your choices on altcoins. Most of them have good future potential. BNB is the exchange coin of Binance, which is the largest cryptocurrency exchange if we consider the volumes and turnover. ETH is regarded as the king of altcoins, ever since its listing in 2014. Even now, they have the best development team among all the altcoins. Chainlink is one of the most potential new altcoins and it may give good returns in the near future.

Exactly, a knockout is the only way for Golokvin to win this upcoming fight. Judges seems afraid of Golden Boy Promotion's top honcho Oscar Dela Hoya  Grin. IMHO, he can offset the age factor by training very very hard just like what Manny Pacquiao did. GGG maybe not be on his prime anymore but this guy have Canelo's number and hope he can land that lucky punch that will put Canelo to sleep.

Manny and GGG are not in the same weight class. But GGG can take a lot of inspiration from the Manny Pacquiao vs. Keith Thurman fight. In the beginning, the betting odds were heavily favoring Thurman, but then they changed slightly after huge number of Filipinos made their bets in favor of Manny. But very few really thought that the 40-year old Manny would be able to beat a young boxer such as Thurman.
