4561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The new AMD R7 and R9 GPU:s for mining on: August 17, 2015, 03:50:15 PM
Best mining GPU is still HD 7950. 5.5 mh/s on x11 with the same wolf miner, and can pick them up for very cheap, almost half the cost of R9 380.

http://gpushack.com/collections/all-gpus-for-sale/products/his-iceq-hd-7950-boost
Yeah the 7950 is still good. Pretty good prices at that site, have you bought gpu:s from there before ?

those run hot though and have older cooling tech than the 280x r9s you an get those for $180 with rebates on new egg dual fans and a bit higher hash rate

I would take those over the 7950s.  The saphire vapor x ones are amzing they never go above 78 degeress in my basement which is close to 90degreees  in the summer

the problem with using those 2880w psu's to run the A2's is the A2 controller board requires a 24 pin PSU connection so those would be a no go.

the problem with bronze is it gets no efficiency from 240 V unlike gold and platinum , yes bronze is cheaper up front but remember you are running miners like servers which is why server hardware requires 90+ platinum ratings since they are running 24-7 at maximum output unlike a regular pc/desktop.

Have you looked in detail at their power distribution board?  I haven't but I suspect they're not doing anything too fancy with it, so if they're only pulling the 12V lines from the PSU and jumpering the PWR ON, then you could just hack together an adapter to do it.  Then again, they could also be using the 5V for driving the Pi, in which case I don't think there's a 5v line on the IBM's.

If you haven't, I'm planning on pulling it apart in the next few weeks to add a connector for PWR ON, so I can hook it up to the same ethernet relays I used on my S5's to do remote rebooting.  The damn PDU's I ended up buying a bunch of (Tripplite) only shut off 1/2 of the 240v circuit, so sometimes the PSU's shut down, and sometimes they just dynamically switch to 110v and continue on like nothing happened - pretty annoying.

I love this stuff though, that's half the fun of fiddling with these miners - tweaking with the config, writing apps to run them, building hardware, etc.  Although I'm not making enough mining to cover my hourly rate... Wink

Great link, I hadn't seen that chart before - so even at Titanium you're only looking at a 1-2% gain to 240v...  I'll be interested to see if in practice that's what I'm also seeing with the supplies.

Yeah i have the same issue , working with these boxes on my offtime is fun but its not worth the time taken away from my other projects .

Not had a chance to look at the PDU  board but i think you are right an adapter would be fine if you could build one, The PI's seem to be powered through the 32 port gpio cable so i think 12v to the board should do it.  I dont have any spare boards for my six machines so i cant try it right now.

I missed your post about the triplite PDU's that reminds me i have 2 of those POS pdus i bought that and 20amp units same issue you have.  I ended up just saying screw it an instaled 4 30amp circiuts and bought used 24apmp /208v PDUs instead and have had no power down issues since then

You should do that its a better option than modifying the boards , I found an electricin on criaglists to do the circut upgrades for around $300 all i had to do was buy the 30amp rated cables and the lp-30 twist lock power receptacles ($19 each)

In fact im having him come in this weekend and upgrade me from a 100amp panel to 200 amp so i can power up 3 machines sitting here gathering dust since my main breaker is filled up.

I've ordered up some parts to build remote rebooters for all of my A2's, so when I start tearing them apart for that, I'll take a detailed look at what the power distribution board is doing.  At worse it's simple enough to get a 12VDC -> 5VDC stepdown converter to power the Pi, regardless of whether the server PSU provides it or not (for instance with the breakout for the IBM 2880W supply, I think all it breaks out at 12V lines).  They're coming from China, so a couple weeks, but I'll more than likely post build instructions also for anyone else interested in having a remote reboot option for the A2.

man that would be cool, one thing on that though with my A2's i have never had to reboot them in the month or so i have had them, if they do have issues i just vpn into the network and reboot them via the UI why do you need the remote rebooters ?

as for hooking them up to server PSU's that would save folks alot of money since you can buy refurb ibm 2880 watt PSU's cheaper than platinum desktop PSUs by a mile.
4564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 17, 2015, 12:09:52 AM
It took me a few hours to set up a box for mining , gimme a break with all the guides out there for windows, linuix, OS2 etc if you cant set up a node and Ethminer

pointed towards it in farm mode.  I could set up a pool myself by I don't need the headache of DDOS attacks etc , if anything go on the forums and pay a bounty for

someone to help you get set up, it was actually quite a bit of fun figuring things out and setting up my Ubuntu go-ethereum environment.
4565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Time to buy great A2 Terminator LTC miners at a clearance price on: August 16, 2015, 12:48:11 AM
Now my main question is: can we trust to them? Since they only accepts BTC and wire opayments (from their letter)...

you can trust them to ship your units and replacement parts for the 30 days warranty , that's what I just said duh

I'm interested to see your findings as well
4567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Time to buy great A2 Terminator LTC miners at a clearance price on: August 14, 2015, 02:44:55 PM
there was some wear an tear on the units but the provided replacement parts and replacement PSU's as needed.
Their representative Chloe was very helpful in getting me squared away.

Could they do it before shipping?
Yeah that was with dhl shiping $179 per unit
4568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Under-overclock image for A2 Innosilicon by Emdje - Extranonce support - V4.0 on: August 14, 2015, 06:47:20 AM
bronze PSU's really ?  so you are probbaly wasting  (1200*1.15) = 1380 drawn from the wall ( which is even more terribe since you gain nothing from using a more 240v efficient power source.)

vs a 80 gold or PSU  (1200*1.08) = 1296

thats a difference of 84 watts per hour/per UNIT.

remeber these boxes are not a typcial applicaint they run 24/7  so thats 1920 watts daily wastesed per unit per day multiply that by 10

you are throwing away 19200 watts a day .  Not much on a daliy basis but it will add up .

I would suggest you put those PSUs up for sale and slowly replace them with 80 plus gold units as soon as you make each sale.

Marvell1 makes some great points - especially in Bronze vs Gold, which in many cases these days don't have a major price difference.  With lots of the lower watt PSU's, there can be a big price difference between bronze and gold - I use Corsair CX750M's on my S5's, which are $80/each vs the RM750 which is $130 - so it's hard to justify the $50 delta for the 5% savings, especially at ~600w.  But set up to 850w, and the price difference between the gold and bronze is only $23 - and assuming you're consuming more power, now we're talking some savings.

I've wondered about the specifics of 110v vs 240v, I know it's supposed to be 2-3% more efficient, but it's hard to find concrete info.  I actually picked up the Bronze, Gold and Platinum versions of the 850w Corsairs to do some power tests with the S5, and I specifically bought a realtime logging power meter that can monitor both 110v and 240v, so once I do the tests, I'll post some info.

The other thing to consider if noise isn't an issue is the server-class PSU's... I have a bunch of the IBM 2880W with breakouts, which you can get for ~$200.  It's an outstanding PSU, platinum rated, and could run two Mega 110's without breaking a sweat.

the problem with using those 2880w psu's to run the A2's is the A2 controller board requires a 24 pin PSU connection so those would be a no go.

the problem with bronze is it gets no efficiency from 240 V unlike gold and platinum , yes bronze is cheaper up front but remember you are running miners like servers which is why server hardware requires 90+ platinum ratings since they are running 24-7 at maximum output unlike a regular pc/desktop.

Thanks guys.  I wound up using stock A2 Mega Terminator firmware - works good.  Of the 10 machines I have I replaced 8 PSU's.  Not cool.  They were cheap-o 1000W PSU's not even 80 PLUS rated..... BOOO!!! Replaced with 1300 W EVGA 80PLUS Brozne.    Everything is wonderful now.  Thanks again!

you dont want those driver anyways you want the most current drivers from the AMD site you dont need the disk

if this is windows and you are going from nvidia to ATI you will have to totally clean the nvidia stuff off and download and install the ATI catalyst drivers for starters
4572  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] Innosilicon [A1 Booster + A2 Terminator] Support/Tuning on: August 13, 2015, 05:21:29 PM
In my case it appears it was a crap PSU. I have that A2 working right now, running 1200, but I am only getting 88mhs out of it. It's running great, I was going to work on changing the other settings this week. BTW I had to plug in the power to the blades backwards in order for it to work.

On my other one, it works and runs for a little bit but then powers off. During the time working, it starts out at 88mhs then slowly dwindles down to 6mhs then it powers off. I am assuming I have bad blades or something.

i had the same problem check to make sure that your NEW pusu PCI-E ooutputs match what is on the orignal PSU.  If you look closelsy some of these are flipped lukcliy the miner board is smart enough not to provide power when the pins are reversed.

I good way to bring an A2 back to life is unplug all the blades and plug in  power to board and see if it starts.
Then plug in power to a single one start the machine , flip PCI-E if the A2 won't come back on rinse repeat
4573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum's big lie? IBM Adept on: August 13, 2015, 02:46:37 PM
ethoreum is the last chance of getting rich in crypto, hype on.

Ethereum is the last chance of getting rich if you bought the ICO.
Otherwise you will get dumped on by the ICO holders.

This is why you do not take advice from so called forum know-it-alls  if i had listed to you shills/haters i would never have bought a bunch of eth at .6 and doubled my money in a few days

in summary :
the shills for eth said - "you missed out on ICO you fucked up i will be rich you will be poor !!!"
the haters - SCAM, SCAM, PREMINE .... SCAM!!!

me - fuck em all , buy low sell High

A word of advice to .. do your own DD take your own risks with what you can afford to lose , in this wild wild west of Crypto KNOW one really knows ANYTHING.

The  more a person tries to tell you what will happen really means that person is that much more clueless probably knows less than you LOL.

i lost a decent amount of money with gaw  Embarrassed
i am slowing trying to recoup loses :/

Not trying to be mean, but what were you thinking? Everyone in the Bitcoin community was shouting at the top of their lungs for people to get out of that scam.
no its a fair enough question Smiley i started my altcoin/ bitcoin experience on hashtalk, i briefly came here but i quickly migrated there, i was seduced by the smooth cloud mining interface and got sucked in very quickly. i eventually only heard all the good things and went into denial about the bad stuff. i was incredibly new and i treat my loses as a lesson Cheesy

Dont feel bad bro , I personally should have know better i wont say i was a Vet  but i should have know better as well, probbaly lost around 3-4K in the paycoin Fiasaco.
4575  Economy / Computer hardware / buying non working A2 on: August 12, 2015, 04:21:13 AM
I don't care of the boards are not working, or the PI, I would prefer one with a working controller board but we can negotiate a lower price if the controller board is broken too.

what I do need - the heatsinks need to be attached to the boards and the wiring and Gpio cables are needed as well.

thanks
4576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum dump starts? on: August 12, 2015, 02:41:39 AM
IPO price for me was 30 cents.  But that's immaterial. I would not sell at $3. I wouldn't even sell at $10. It's the only coin since Bitcoin with a long term future outside a pump and dump by scammers.

Totally not a trader, but I've been buying since 0700AM Eastern. And I just bought a good amount at .0039. I don't think we're going to dump either. I may be long on it. But we're in the middle of this new asset pump and potentially an epic LTC pump, I'm not really sure to do strategically. I hope it works out and all of you are careful. Please don't allocate more funding than you can afford.

This outcome of trying coordinate chaos will be an unmitigated disaster,,,and I can't fuckin' wait!

LTC will go nowhere.  ETH will suck market cap from all shitcoins as its the best chance of a moon situation on the market. I'm not even talking about a huge pump I'm talking about literally taking over the world. The same potential as BTC had but much more insidious.
way to go out on a limb
4577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum dump starts? on: August 11, 2015, 09:13:05 PM
Funny looking dump going on.  It's like a reverse dump.

Just some waves... Just watch them crash on the beach soon Wink Still a lot of coins to hit the exchanges imo.. 500% return in 1.5 year after investment is still great for "normal" investors.. Not the spoiled crypto kids.
Where do you fools keep getting threse stupid inflated IPO profit #s they bought at 2000 eth per 2014 BTC not 2015 BTC dumbass

That's 2000/630

Not

2000/270

If anything its a 200%  profit if they can sell at six which still nice is nothing compared to what they deserve for the risk
They took

None of the IPO investors will even make any profit unless it goes above 3

If anyone is making $$ right now its those who bought far Belo the IPO price and the devs
4578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum dump starts? on: August 11, 2015, 05:13:29 AM
There be a lot of crying bagholders around, other than hype what has it going for it
  • No hard cap unlimited supply
  • Open source software so plenty of better copys
  • Upcoming Rollback
  • No wallet
  • A dev running around in his goofy underwear
  • ......

Currently Kraken   ETH/BTC   $0.699954
I assume one of the devs dumped a massive amount he had as a part of his premine and even sold the BTC and cashed out to fiat, just an idea of we saw a small btc dip.
Get real bro they can't afford to rollback shit

Is this the next Paycoin fiasco?

Nothing will Rival the paycoin fiasco, at least with ethereum if it does go down as a scam only speculators and ICO investors will be screwed

with Paycoin he scamed housewives , regular 9-5vers who were just dipping their feet into the cloud mining thing.  Bascially he scammed a HUGE cross section

of the general ecosystem and basically soured the average joe on digital currencies
