4561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: From pizza to bitcoins - to factory to bitcoins on: November 12, 2021, 05:32:03 AM
No one knew exactly what will happen at that time, and the fellow laszlo only wanted some pizza and see whether he can use bitcoins to pay for it or not. It was a proof that bitcoin, even at that time, can be used to buy real-world items, so long as people are ready to accept it. That simple act that he did, coupled with his willingness to let the world know that bitcoin isn’t just for speculative purposes ended up being iconic and cemented its place in history that we can still discuss up to now.
4562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sky Vegas could face legal action due to promotional emails on: November 11, 2021, 09:18:32 PM
If people already opted out of such promotional emails, it is the company's obligation to observe and respect such decisions. Sky Vegas receiving legal repercussions for their actions is, IMO, just and valid. Even if some of the recipients are not recovering addicts, this is still like a breach of trust or agreement. Mistake or not, Sky Vegas should just own up to what happened and face the consequences.
4563  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks will die crypto will take over in 5-10 years on: November 11, 2021, 10:49:17 AM
Banks won't go down without a fight, and sure enough governments wouldn't just let their pals sink without extending a helping hand. It'll take a lot from crypto to take down banks, and even then I don't think crypto will ultimately replace banks as a financial institution. There's so much reliance on banks from this society that I don't think people are ready for a world without them. Also, the convenience banks provide to people is something else, even if it means their money are being held hostage until they complied with the banks terms.
4564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will bring the chaos what the world need. on: November 10, 2021, 11:09:47 PM
Bitcoin has brought disruption to global economics, and IMO, chaos will be brought by the current system itself. When that happens, bitcoin will be what people will look into when they're wanting to save what little they have left from the destruction that the current system is doing. Countries from around the world are already gearing towards a digital economy, and are taking notes from bitcoin and other crypto, and hoping to integrate what they've learned on their own currency.

Bitcoin provided disruption, and once chaos ensues, it will also provide an avenue away from the destruction that the current system is brewing upon itself.
4565  Economy / Economics / Re: Who wants to do what. Jobs or business.. on: November 10, 2021, 08:03:03 PM
I was raised to believe that taking up a bachelor's degree will land you straight to a good job. Well, I somehow managed to land a good job after finishing my degree, but seeing some of my former schoolmates that dropped college achieve more financially than me, I just realized that maybe, finishing college isn't really for everyone. I'm not chasing for riches and regretting anything, but it just clicked to me that some will do good if they chose to do business at an early age while some are better off studying and entering the big world as a corporate pawn.

But if I have the chance to turn back time and choose again, I'd choose a different degree and try to excel on that for competitive offers even as a fresh grad.
4566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are they against PoW? on: November 10, 2021, 06:58:35 PM
They just can't point fingers on other industries that harnesses similar or even greater energy and produces similar or greater wastes because it will hurt their relationship with such industries. Bitcoin and crypto mining relying on PoW are easy targets, mainly because not a lot of countries and businesses are into it just yet. I understand the sentiments of those who signed on the Paris agreement that are trying so hard to reach their pledges, but they should also look into other industries that uses large amounts of energy and produces just as much waste in the end.

Then again, the fingers are already pointed, and sure enough bitcoin and crypto will take direct hit and be persecuted harshly and might even be blamed as the number one contributor in rising temperatures.
4567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would you think of Meta (Facebook) allowing bets in the metaverse on: November 10, 2021, 06:16:04 PM
I do not see them doing this in the near future, though the possibility of them doing such a platform is always present. They are a company whose ethos comes last when talk of profits is at bay. Presently, after the name change, they would not immediately think of doing such a rash move to protect their image, although somewhere along the road, this will eventually happen, and only time will tell whether this move is destined to fail from the beginning.

Though from what I see here, the metaverse will certainly not take lots of gambling patrons from the existing platforms that service them greatly. It'll be hard to compete against established names in the industry, moreso the culture that is already built outside of the metaverse.
4568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sweden proposed to ban mining in the European Union on: November 10, 2021, 05:00:04 PM
Instead of banning cryptomining as a whole, why don't they sanction some other industries that are using too much energy and are contributing less on towards the economy? Or better, why not tone down on energy use on all sectors in order to meet the quota/demand of the Paris agreement? It's as if cryptomining is the only culprit to this long-standing problem, and the only solution there is in order to cut down on carbon emissions is to kill it.

It's a harsh call, but then again I expect to see most of the EU to follow suit on the suggestions. Perhaps not to the degree of banning cryptomining as a whole, but making it hard for miners to keep a steady operation going.
4569  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What's the cheapest way to cash out your coins? on: November 10, 2021, 02:35:47 PM
Have it done through P2P or find a local exchange that works for you. I'm from Asia, and most of the time I do P2P transactions whenever I want to trade my bitcoins/other crypto to quick cash using the service of a guy that I've known for almost 5 years now. Sometimes, I just go to the local exchange, trade my bitcoins into XRP or other coins that have low transactions fees which they accept, and start the trade in there.

Binance P2P is a good start, although you will sometimes see traders haggling the price too much.
4570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple CEO Tim Cook invests on Crypto on: November 10, 2021, 07:19:21 AM
I respect his decision to not include the company in his personal investments, unlike some other CEO out there who uses the name of his ventures, putting those too at risk just because he wants to prove a point and chase clout to gain more attention. Though again this might just be testing the waters and gauging public reaction on what he does as an individual connected to an important company. It’s good that more and more big names are starting to venture towards crypto little by little. At the least, they are seeing other possibilities on crypto aside from the traditional investments than they’re used to for the longest of time.
4571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Making money while gaming on: November 06, 2021, 12:24:47 PM
Ubisoft is an established video gaming company that has produced lots of triple A titles during its entire existence. It would be great to see them entering the P2E space, although seeing how they handled microtransactions within their games in the past, I believe that they will most probably add some elements of buying directly from them some items and boosters in order for a player to progress even more on the game. They can get something from Mir4 and Axie Infinity, but Ubisoft is focused mostly on RPG, so perhaps they'd take notes on how Wemade, the creator of Mir4, does the job.

Marami tayong magagaling na tao pagdating sa cryptocurrency, don't get me wrong.
4573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going for the Underdog or Not? on: November 06, 2021, 11:00:25 AM
I'd go for the thrill for my $10 and opt to choose the underdog. If that's only a play money that I'm willing to forego for the sake of entertainment, then why not spice things up and root for an upset? $10 is neither high risk at all, and can easily be had if you have a stable job and you're just looking for some quick fun. If you're into that fighting sport anyway, that will be worth it regardless if the bet wins or lose. Just think of it like you've paid for the ticket to watch the game and there'll be no regrets on your end regarding the bet if ever you lose it.
4574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have 500 lost Bitcoin - need help on: November 06, 2021, 10:27:44 AM
There is a good chance that the website you're pertaining to is already gone, so having that email or remembering the password won't do you any good. In any case, remember if the site exists first, and if that site is still up and running, try to check your old accounts on whether they are connected to your previous email that you've used. There really is no other way around it except for having the site still active, and you remembering even the email address for you to initiate a reset password request.

Then again, chances are very slim for this particular endeavor.
4575  Economy / Economics / Re: What's the best advice? on: November 06, 2021, 09:37:13 AM
I wouldn't rush my children into thinking about the money honestly, though I will already instill some values re: saving money and only spending what they have and to live by their means. Whichever path they take is fine with me, and I will not pressure them into taking courses that is statistically better in terms of earning money after graduation. Though of course, as a gamer myself, I will be happy seeing them engaging on gaming activities so long as it doesn't affect them so much to the point that they're no longer doing what they're supposed to do. If they earn money from playing games (which I believe will be possible in the future), then it's great, and if not, it's still great as long as they're enjoying.
4576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York's Mayor-Elect to Take His First Paychecks in Bitcoin on: November 06, 2021, 08:57:02 AM
Doesn't really do much difference at all if he's already fiat-rich. What NYC needs in order to be the center of innovation and cryptocurrency are more than just their mayor receiving paycheck in bitcoin. Perhaps focusing some of their projects towards bitcoin and crypto adoption is the better way to go, and not some publicity stunt like this. Though in any case, if the head of the city is showing the world that even he is willing to receive his paycheck in bitcoin, then perhaps it might give some courage to companies who are already looking of doing the same but just quite unsure on whether they should continue with it or not.

Anyway, an even better idea to show the mayor-elect's commitment on the matter is receiving a portion of his salary in bitcoin up until the end of his term.
4577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ira Kleiman is obviously lying in court - Team up with CSW to create evidence? on: November 06, 2021, 07:42:35 AM
Dude's really not giving up the fight of claiming that he's Satoshi. Also the statement on the logo is pretty absurd. The logo that we have today for bitcoin is designed here in Bitcointalk if I'm not mistaken, putting the statement as a lie and an obvious instruction from CSW to make it seem like CSW is telling the truth, and that his claims are supported by someone. Also, 2009? How can one remember such mundane things such as someone writing on a piece of paper and even remember exactly what was written on it?

They are, again, deeping an even deeper hole for themselves.
4578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Cardano is a $300 Billion Coin, Fasten Your Seat Belt!" on: November 05, 2021, 11:59:41 PM
Cardano is a not a bad coin though not that good either. It has its merits, and most of it are stressed enough on advertising the said coin plus the community that talks about it a lot. It's a good coin for investment although I would not bank on it heavily given that there are still some other coins out there that are far established and better than this one, although I won't comment on which coins I do have in mind. They do made good points, although not enough to really convince anyone to go hard on ADA.
4579  Economy / Speculation / Re: JP Morgan: bitcoin could hit $146,000 on: November 05, 2021, 10:43:57 PM
And just a few weeks ago, they are saying that bitcoin is obviously overpriced and its position wouldn't hold that long. I don't really know what's going on with their press division, or just the entirety of its organization in general, but I believe that they are obviously having mix-ups with the statements that they are releasing. One thing is for sure though, I would take anything JP Morgan says about bitcoin and crypto with a grain of salt, as they are an entity which doesn't really make up their mind easily.
4580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins not available on Binance. Missing something? on: November 05, 2021, 09:13:34 PM
That means that the coin that you're looking for hasn't tried anything on their end to get listed on the said exchange. There are listing fees needed in order to get listed in Binance, and some coins that aren't there yet haven't paid for the said fee, and doesn't have enough demand from the market for Binance to list them.

Having a dedicated market for a coin takes up resources, and if there aren't any demands for the coin in question, why else would an exchange list it anyway if they wouldn't get fees at all from the said coin?
