4561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think about LocalCoin DEX exchange? on: November 22, 2019, 04:00:43 PM
What do you think about LocalCoin exchange?  please share your experience - is it  secure? I heard that they operate  in a decentralized way, without a central authority
https://localcoin.is/#download

Looks like an interesting exchange. Lots of extraordinary claims on their Bitcointalk thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5125670.0

The exchange Twitter page says the it's erc20 based exchange, meaning it's limited to Ethereum tokens, right?
I wonder how truely decentralized the exchange is though ... this interests me the most.
It doesn't have alot of reviews on the internet unfortunately.  You probably should go through the exchange Bitcointalk thread to guage the opinion of genuine users about the exchange quality of service.
4562  Economy / Economics / Re: Can online platforms like Youtube and Facebook really be decentralized? on: November 22, 2019, 01:36:23 PM
Well, Blockchain is not really built for large files like video or audios. There are other better ways to decentralized such files, eg ipfs, freenet etc. I think we already have couple of video & social media sites that sre fairly decentralized. They store the large files mostly on ipfs.
4563  Other / Off-topic / Re: Andriod or IOS on: November 22, 2019, 01:06:34 PM
Many people are still confused on which mobile phone to choose when they need to buy new phones. Will people prefer Android for ease of use / customization or use IOS, as sort of Jail but with greater security ?

Tell us your views and experience on this.

I think am OK with android. I never really used iOS devices before. I suspect it was due to the fan boy thing that was so popular back then(I wonder if it's still popular today). I became an android fan due the ideals especially the open source ideal. I was alittle worried back then about using iPhone. This has stuck with me to this day.
Whether those ideals are still being upheld to this day, I don't know.
4564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Simple Options: Bet on the direction the price of Ethereum will go on: November 22, 2019, 12:54:40 PM
There is now a new version 2 that runs only for 1 hour and pulls directly from a house pot!

Technically knowledgeable people can play this game and win some good amount. I am not good in predicting prices, so cannot take a risk here. By the way I like the design of your website it is plain and simple.

The game has been modified to decrease the risk exposure and increase the reward potential.

There is already plenty of options for this type of betting with more recognized names already. For example if you go to Fairlay you can see many such options, not just for ETH but for BTC and LTC.

I would rather go there, and even make your own market if you do not like the offers, and see if people will take it for you.
The difference is that this platform is a trust-less smart contract that you do not have to register for and you can play anonymously. Also you don't have to worry about someone running off with your money.

the round will be a draw and everyone can withdraw what they put in

Withdraw to where exactly? Withdraw back to  betting site  wallet(do you charge fee for this withdrawal) or back to bettors Ethereum wallet? I noticed you allow the use of metamask on your website though... I just need to be sure about this.

Back to your MetaMask wallet. There is no betting site wallet, only the smart contract and MetaMask. Here is the exact source for withdrawals.
Code:
  // Withdraw from a previous round
  // Cannot withdraw partial funds, all funds are withdrawn
  function withdrawFunds(uint256 roundNum) public {
    require( roundNum > 0 && roundNum < currentRound); // Can only withdraw from previous rounds
    Round storage _round = roundList[roundNum];
    require( _round.roundStatus != RoundStatus.OPEN ); // Round must be closed
    User storage _user = _round.users[msg.sender];
    uint256 balance = _user.callBalanceWei + _user.putBalanceWei;
    require( _user.callBalanceWei + _user.putBalanceWei > 0); // Must have a balance to send out
    _user.callBalanceWei = 0;
    _user.putBalanceWei = 0;
    msg.sender.transfer(balance); // Protected from re-entrancy
  }

Good.
 Yours sounds like a safe place to bet. I guess you use a single address to gather the bets, right?
 You probably need to promote this well enough to attract lots of players and make the betting events successful.
4565  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 Mutual betting & MutiBet IN SAME MATCH discussion & active Markets 🏆 on: November 22, 2019, 10:05:40 AM
I thought mutual/pool betting is popular than this, with lots of events to bet on. I am surprised there are few things to bet on. Could this be why gambling owners don't consider it? I guess gamblers don't like it or find it profitable.
Will keep an eye on this thread for favorites games to bet on
4566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 22nd November 2009. Satoshi created a forum called "Bitcointalk". 10 Years ago. on: November 22, 2019, 09:40:41 AM
Found out from Wikipedia. Happy 10th Birthday Bitcointalk! Cheesy

Congrats!
It's one of the best forums/websites around, to be honest... It's a forum that has actually changed lives and not like others that take away time/money from users while give a little. I honestly feel so grateful for the forum and to the great, patient, and passionate minds who have keep things running despite the challenges they face. Every time spent here is worth.

It's a great place to learn about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency too.
4567  Economy / Economics / Re: The Government-Backed Digital Dollar (USD) on: November 21, 2019, 04:31:15 PM
I guess this will be built on so called private Blockchain.
A Blockchain isn't really a Blockchain without being immutable, permissionless, censorship resistant, decentralized, transparent, anonymous, trustless etc.. In my opinion, if your Blockchain does not meet up 50% of this standard then it's not worth being called a Blockchain. Better they just stick to normal centralized method for "better experience".
4568  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So traders, how much You lose? on: November 21, 2019, 03:37:03 PM
I prefer not to disclose this information. All I can say is that experienced and patient traders would make money than they lose. Every price movement is a good opportunity to make some money if you know what you are doing.
4569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Data Breach: "1.2 billion people exposed" on: November 21, 2019, 03:24:59 PM
This is becoming too common thesedays. I guess the companies don't get harsh fine or jail term as punishment for not properly securing  people's private data. otherwise they will be very careful collecting the private data atall or storing them without strong security.

This is why decentralized storage of private data is idea. Who can hack billions of people at thesame time If they are the ones keeping their private information.
4570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Here’s How Much of Each Major Altcoin Is Owned by Whales on: November 21, 2019, 01:12:49 PM
Most of the rich addresses are probably owned by exchanges or similar platforms that manage large amounts of cryptocoins for many people.

Quote
whales really do own a large portion of the circulating supply of some cryptocurrencies.

This is probably the case with small/unpopular coins. You would expect that as the cryptocoins grow and become popular, the developers "large portions" get dwarfed but this is not really the case.

4571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have a 12 word seed phrase that appears to be wrong (Ethereum) on: November 21, 2019, 10:47:29 AM
Hello everyone...

Hopefully this is the right place to post something like this.

12 ETH was sent to a new Metamask wallet, and the seedphrase written down. We have all 12 words.

But when we try to restore the wallet, all associated addresses seem to be empty.

Does anyone know any software too partially crack Ethereum seed phrases? (Try combinations of similar words)

Are you the real owner of the 12Eth? Why would you want to crack the phrases this quickly when you can still try other methods? If phrases are that easy to guess, don't you think Ethereum will be at risk
4572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why are you gambling? on: November 21, 2019, 09:13:08 AM
I chose fun and the hope to win. I play offline and online casino but most of the time I do it online. I cannot say I am earning on gambling regularly. It is difficult to beat the house. Today I earned $80, not exact as I use crypto currencies. I was just lucky today and yesterday. Yesterday I won $60 too. But before that I lost or break-even or didn't gamble at all.

What is the connection between a liquor lover and someone who loves gambling?

What sites exactly did you gamble on to win this regular? I guess your games are skill-based hence the regular wins...

This doesn't sound like a coincidence. You probably did something right that helped in the double win in two days . You even breakeven sometimes too.
4573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquidity rating makes lotta sense on: November 21, 2019, 08:09:20 AM
Thanks to coinmarketcap for taking the huge step of rating crypto exchanges based on liquidity, now atleast i will some developers will start picking exchanges to list their token based on liquidity ratings, if you check the link down below

https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/liquidity/?utm_source=coinmarketcap&utm_content=alert

You will see that exchanges like idax, p2pb2b and bitforex are way down on the ranking list compare to when exchanges are been rated with volumes, well exchanges with fake volumes can't have liquidity because they aren't real, now its left for developers, project teams to be smart

Seems many of the exchanges with low Liquidity are the true Decentralized Exchanges. I guess true DEXes should have theirs list or rated differently... True DEXes are the "real things" but aren't very popular for obvious reasons. It'll be unfair to compare real DEXes with centralized exchanges or semi decentralized exchanges

Strange headline.

How about, do you like meat or cow?
They are basically thesame thing my friends or do you disagree? If yes, give me some reasons why you think so.

4576  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"? on: November 20, 2019, 05:25:46 PM
I personally wouldn't hold altcoins long-term, save for few top altcoins and probably few new solid projects
In my opinion, most of your funds should be in Bitcoin, top altcoins could be allocated with 40% of the total fund while the remaining goes to Bitcoin(50%) and 10% for the new solid projects.
4577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that governments might one day ban Cryptos? on: November 20, 2019, 03:41:37 PM
Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

How has the ban in China been? Effective or not?
Removing all alternatives to fiat will likely lead to something else the governments would have to spend another long years fighting. I think censorship resistant/anonymity of fiat currencies is one of the main reasons people aren't embracing cryptocurrency yet or inventing physical alternatives to fiat.
4578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2019, 02:57:02 PM
I don't want to open up another gold vs bitcoin thread. I'm just curious because I read an article that discussed whether we should be preparing ourselves for an upcoming recession by buying bitcoin or gold:

https://cryptotradernews.com/cryptocurrency/preparing-for-a-recession-bitcoin-or-gold/

Thoughts?

I think the next recession won't be as big as the 2008 one (which, to me was a depression). Hence I'll stick with Bitcoin for now.

Bitcoin, combined with few cryptocoins (plus stablecoins) would probably be better option. Gold may perform better during a recession but that won't be a good enough reason to switch to only Gold. By the way, the value of some cryptocurrencies will likely be backed by alots of physical assets in the future.
4579  Economy / Gambling / Re: .4 BTC lost on satoshi dice on: November 20, 2019, 01:57:24 PM
Looks like he really sent the coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77870.msg16039442#msg16039442

But the Date on the address reads: 2016-06-10, meaning he sent the coin 3 years ago and not 2. I think he should get the date right to make finding his coin easier for satoshi dice owners. He probably should create a new topic on reputation section and describe in detail what really happened, with evidences to back them up.
4580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Deflationary model failed? on: November 20, 2019, 01:33:10 PM
Would you mind pointing out those things that make the cryptocoins unique? Have you read the project whitepaper and Roadmap to know if the projects are actually of quality and viable? Seems you are more interested in profits than what the project can offer
By the way, Their names don't sound too unique/professional/convincing.
