No, they have not. Unless you believe that it needs to be fixed for millions of users manually.

I don't believe that but I do believe that they have made some change as some people already posted here to say it is fixed for them.

There's still no info from admin on this and it's been couple of days now. It's fishy, so I'm going to withdraw all the money from my account.

I'm sure they'll be devasted that you stopped claiming free money from them.
4582  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why we may be stuck in the current range for long on: March 17, 2018, 09:35:52 AM
You should trust the dude above who is a pro-trader (well, at least this is what he claims himself). And he says that we will soon see a sort of short squeeze due to shorters closing their positions in panic. That should give Bitcoin prices a phenomenal boost, according to him. Personally, I believe it is not gonna happen in the foreseeable future, but I'm not claiming to be a pro, so my opinion kind of lacks enough weight and self-righteousness.

One day you hopefully will learn to read.

I said that was one of two possible scenarios and ruling it out as you did in your OP was wrong.

Now it seems that 12k turned into an impenetrable selling wall which will be hard to crush because those who bought at that and higher levels will now be trying to close their positions at all costs. And the longer we stay at sub-10k levels, the more resistance will be building above 10k.

This is what I disagree with. No support or resistance is impenetrable, it is simply the price the market changed direction before. It is a number traders will make a note of and see what happens if price revisits it. Will the sellers still be there or not? We have no way of knowing that. It is a very simple lesson in trading that I was trying to share. I'm sorry that it is beyond your comprehension skills to understand it. That should already have been obvious from the way you couldn't grasp what that CCN article said and failure to understand the definition of the word professional.

If i understand the rules correctly, we suppose to get the half of our merit to send to the forum memmbers. Am i right? The thing is that i got 6 merit points to spend.. instead of 50. So what do i do to get more receivable points? Is becoming a merit source the only way to get the points? Thanks in advance.

Go back and read the OP again. The initial distribution of Merit was based on rank, the initial distribution of sMerit was based on your activity in the last year. I got 250 Merit and only 22 sMerit. Then you get 0.5 sMerit for every 1 Merit you have been awarded since the system was introduced.

sMerit = spendable Merit.

There is still no change, I just did my free roll and won 12 sat instead of the 24 it should be currently.

So they have started fixing it and some people are back to normal and you're still here whining about missing out on 1/10th of a free cent in both threads.  Roll Eyes
4585  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: March 17, 2018, 07:41:26 AM
I know, but i never used ticker list for that. I have it hidden most of the time and check the ticker prices only when i want to see daily movers.

Thus i need to make 3 clicks to open pair i want to trade from ticker favourites list (click to open list-click to chose pair-click to hide list), compared to just one click for choosing from dropdown menu-much easier and faster to switch this way, only now its clogged by coins i never trade nor watch.

I've always used the ticker favourites. I'm guessing from what you say that the dropdown used to hide any pairs you have disabled in Account > Currencies and pairs settings. I've tried that and they remain displayed so they must have changed the way that works. I can't really suggest anything other than try to contact them and say you don't like the change. If enough people do that they might reverse it.
4586  Other / Meta / Re: Report Sufficiently Answered Topic(s) to Lock on: March 17, 2018, 07:02:00 AM
Do posts = Traffic?

To an extent yes. Just by the fact that more people are posting actively, they must be making page impressions and looking around. More importantly, the sheer volume of content (however mindnumbing) does boost the sites ranking on search engines.

Are lurkers not as valuable to the forum in terms of "profit"?

I would say more so judging from the site advertising stats page https://bitcointalk.org/adrotate.php?adstats
Total page impressions are usually ~5x page impressions from logged in users. But the unanswerable question is how much of that traffic is driven by searches would reduce.

Does the forum actually benefit financially from spam, or mega-threads developing/remaining open? I would like to hear some more on that.

The last round of advertising pulled in 2.4BTC https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3006864.20
It is an auction and it is really a matter of opinion/speculation as to how that would be affected by reducing spam. Would the bidders pay less if there was less traffic?

Back to the closing threads issue. I don't think it would reduce spam as new threads will simply replace them. Many of these threads are actually opened by account farmers for the purpose of answering from their alts. What it would do is stop annoying anyone that replied early in the thread from constantly seeing them pop up in their unread replies page.

4587  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 16, 2018, 05:01:41 PM
Unfair. A lot of people like to take vacations away from the forum to come back refreshed. If you want to take the entire summer out of the computer which I recommend everyone to do if possible, and forget about things and get some sun... you would come back with your account penalized for doing so. Doesn't sound like a fair deal to me.

Then you have people which are generally very inactive, but when they post they post very high quality stuff, like gmaxwell and others. It wouldn't also be fair for them to get their account eventually go down in merit points/ranking because of that. Even if older posts sometimes get merit points, on a long enough timeline, the tendency would be to lose points since older posts get buried eventually, penalizing inactive users, which again, doesn't make sense. One should be free to post or not without losing the efforts you did in the past.

I'm not sure if you fully understood. It would just mean that the signature was hidden until the next time they did get a merit. Nobody gets de-ranked or loses anything. I also already suggested when a few other people made a similar point that it would be a lot easier for the moderators to whitelist the few accounts that would effect rather than try to ban the many thousands of sig spammers.
4588  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 16, 2018, 04:11:02 PM
This is where I come unstuck. I think a post like that has no business in a discussion thread, but it should be in an article hosted somewhere ( Steemit or YouTube spring to mind), and a link plus brief comment posted in the thread. The chances are that If the poster does that too often, I would put him on ignore, rather than give him a bunch of merits.

I don't really post anywhere other here so that wouldn't be too good for me. I think it's OK to write a good long OP once in a while..... whether I bother to read too many of them is another issue.

That wasn't really the point of quoting that post. Is was the 'everything that makes a contribution should get at least 1' part that matters.
4589  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 16, 2018, 04:04:11 PM
Yes, I sent Myfe a message last night before I went to bed.  Why would an ip get flagged?  I go to the site regularly and I have the browser miner working as well.  Plus I have deposited a small amount of money on the site to receive interest payments.

hi folks. lower reward has been reduced to 12 sat. is it mine only issue that depends on something or is it for all with no exceptions?

Guys try reading back a bit to find out what has already been answered.

I go with a guess here. They've enhanced their bot detection methods and its flagged a load of non-bots. A bit like when your email provider starts sending the important stuff you want to the spam folder.

This has happened before and that was the reason. They'll fix it again.
4590  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 16, 2018, 03:36:16 PM
~snipped to avoid going on Jet Cash's ignore list~

I really think that what deserves merit should be left to the individual. I usually favour posts that I learned from, made me think about something differently, answered something better than I could, or even just made me laugh.

But I always come back to this post (my highlighting):

@DooMAD
If they're really not adding anything, then they shouldn't get merit. But it doesn't need to be mind-blowing, either. Someone suggested a feature where all umerited posts would be hidden (which I may do at some point) -- I think that it'd be good to look at it as asking what posts you would want in such a summary. So not just incredible posts which might've taken an hour or more to write (those should probably get 10+ merit), but also the questions, arguments, jokes, etc. which couldn't be removed from a thread without starting to lobotomize it.

It's all very new, of course, so maybe this strategy will not actually be the best, but it is what I had in mind when designing the system.

@TMAN, I have been adding sources, and I will continue.

We're all being stingy with merit because there isn't enough yet. Everything that makes a contribution should get merit.
4591  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 16, 2018, 03:25:41 PM
I was just seeking information and maybe a fix to this problem.  I am grateful I get something for just rolling a die.  I'm not losing sleep over it, but I'm not the only one that this has happened to.  Obviously, there is a bug or something.  I just am trying to maybe fix whatever it is.  Letting others know  (which is transparency) that it has happened to me too and the steps I have taken to try to fix it helps everyone.   I don't want to get into a pissing match with you, that is not how I operate.  But by your words, you seem to be saying that I should just shut up, maybe because I'm new here and be grateful my betters are giving me something.  I am very grateful to the site, I've deposited some money there and I am making more money in interest than I do in my savings account at my bank.  When I first saw that I was sold on the site.  But once again, I'm just trying to fix a problem and not be belittled because I'm drawing attention to my plight.

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match with you either. There're already more than 3 pages of posts here about this. This was my earlier reply to you.

Thanks for the info on wetsuit, but since I'm a newbie I'm not allowed to pm him.  I hope someone else will contact him and see what is going on.  I don't make much in satoshi to begin with and 12 is even worse.

I'm sure hundreds already have. There is also Twitter and the contact form on the faq page of the site.

I was trying to say that many people have already tried to alert them that there is a problem so just relax, chill out, and wait for them to fix it.

4592  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 16, 2018, 02:56:21 PM
I'm happy I'm getting free money, but you would be upset too if it was happening to you.  Especially in since the box above the table shows what the actual payout should be.

No, I really would not be upset. I would focus on what I'm getting for free and be grateful.
4593  Other / Meta / Re: Report Sufficiently Answered Topic(s) to Lock on: March 16, 2018, 02:48:50 PM
The same thing happened here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2678858.0

Newbie question that was answered to the OPs satisfaction back at the beginning of January and then people just come along and answer it again. I reported the first one that did it this morning but now it is in sight again others just join in. In this case, the OP isn't even active, so unless a moderator locks it this will go on forever.
4594  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 16, 2018, 02:40:21 PM
I sent two emails on the contact faq on the site already.  I did that yesterday, but I never heard anything, so I went looking elsewhere and found this forum.

So maybe Wetsuit is busy with other business or out of town for a few days. He's still giving you free money so you can't really complain too much that the amount is temporarily reduced.

Also at the beginning of the thread there is mentioned that if you put in  your address you get more sats.  Is that still true?

No, that was a promotion that ran for a few weeks when the site first launched in 2013.
4596  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 16, 2018, 01:08:29 PM
did i do wrong Huh

You did now, it is not allowed to beg for merits. Also, nearly all your posts are on altcoins bounties board so you are obviously here to take and not give. There is nothing worth merit in that.
4597  Other / Meta / Re: Two suggestions regarding Merit on: March 16, 2018, 12:21:43 PM
We've got some excellent technical posters here. I'd like to see an expansion in the macro-economic discussions as well, but any such thread seems to be overrun with low level posting. We are going through some massive changes at the moment - the recent announcement by Google is just one example of this. I think I'm going to discout all of the discussions on the merit system, and try to encorage quality posting about the effects of Bitcoin and crypto in the world economy.

When it comes to the frog pond and economics boards the only way to have decent thread is to start it yourself and make it self-moderated. Even then it will get overrun with shitposts while you're asleep.
4598  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 16, 2018, 11:52:45 AM
What is the most you have invested at this faucet? I have quite a lot of money deposited and would like to know what is the norm? The money invested is seen as working capital, because I have not had to solve a single Captha in weeks.

All the money I received from this faucet is going back into gambling and the lottery, so I am not using my own money for this.  Roll Eyes  Are you doing the same?

I need a little over 0.04 to turn off captcha so I keep my balance between that 0.1. I've already withdrawn more than 0.3 more than I ever deposited, I've always been playing on free money.
4599  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 16, 2018, 11:32:50 AM
Your definition of spammer is someone who has never been merited.  Shocked

That wasn't quite what I meant, I said they were easy to spot because most spammers have not received any merit. That's not the same as everyone who has no merit is a spammer.
So if my suggestion was implemented* it would not be saying that anyone whose signature is hidden is a spammer, just that they didn't do enough to earn the privilege.

I did say this earlier but it is worth repeating and expanding on a little. This forum is pretty unique in allowing members to benefit from being given some advertising space under their posts. That's a privilege, not a right and it's given in return for providing content to the forum. I think it is pretty reasonable theymos brought in the merit system as a way of trying to halt the influx of spammers that have taken advantage of this generosity on his part. Of course, you can argue it is not a perfect system, it can be gamed (for a while), some deserving people miss out.... etc. But can you devise a better way? Or even if you think you can, then remember that theymos is the boss here and we are his guests, so just accept this is the way he is doing it.

theymos has already said that if the merit system fails to stop the shitposting then the next step he will take is to remove signatures altogether. I think that is punishing everyone for the actions of some and I think my suggestion reduces the collateral damage. I can't devise a system to completely eliminate it but if anyone can I'll listen to it.

Do we have statistics about:
How many accounts are unmerited?
How many accounts have never merited any one?
How many accounts merited friends?
Bought merits?
Exchanged merits?
Sent merit to alt accounts?
Sent merit because someone said something against person they don't like?

The first two will be answerable with a bit more work. People like LoyceV have started on that sort of data. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3078328

The next 5 questions pertain to abuse of which there has been much. But that is a big part of why I came up with this idea. Having an ongoing requirement to keep signatures on display would force them to use up all their sMerit and at some point in the future, they'll be f***ed.

The last question follows into this:

How many merits were sent because 2 persons have the same point of view of certain things? Do you have an example where someone has sent merits even if they disagreed? If you don't agree with someone you won't send him merit, that is how merit works in 99.99999% situations.

I sent you merit because you made constructive post, but I don't agree with anything written in it.

Hurray! I am not spammer any more! THANK YOU JET CASH! Cheesy

This is one of the imperfections, people will use it as a 'like' button. But is anyone really alone in their opinion rather than opinion being split and there being people on both sides with merit to give?

I do hope as time goes by that the supply of merit is increased substantially and all constructive posts receive merit. Until then we have a tight budget and many will go unrewarded but I don't think it will always be that way.

* It won't be, so no need to worry. The only staff member to reply is SaltySpitoon and he is against the idea.

Edit:
Do you have an example where someone has sent merits even if they disagreed?

I've noticed Foxpup gave me 6 merits for the OP of this post and also gave merit to 4 replies including this from SaltySpitoon https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3122415.msg32297210#msg32297210 and this from squatter https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3122415.msg32334973#msg32334973 both of disagreed with me. So I don't know Foxpup's view but he seems OK with giving merit to both sides of a debate.

4600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why we may be stuck in the current range for long on: March 16, 2018, 10:34:57 AM
If you don't want to pay any attention to the advice I gave that's your loss, not mine.

Your advice has already been proven wrong and thus pointless. There was no support at 8.3k as you claimed. We easily went past it down to 7.6k the next day you wrote your "advice", and the chances are we will likely go lower in the coming days. So far things look bleak for Bitcoin and crypto as whole. There is neither support nor consolidation at current levels. I think you are way overestimating your predictive powers and understanding of the markets.

Anyway, good luck to you and your trading "career".

Good luck on learning to read.

Equally the opposite is true if it breaks down. Anyone who thinks they can predict which of those two things will happen is fooling themselves. Trading isn't about predicting which way it will breakout but rather recognising it when it happens and then reacting quickly to that.

Lol
