Feels like lift off. Everybody hand me your pants. No time to explain...

Pants transferred.  Should be able to be held onto in 6 confirmations.

This is an interesting time.

In the short term markets tend to move quickly and contrarily to investor sentiment.  Thus the elevator shaft from BTC 49XX.  The sentiment is trending bearish now.  I wonder if the faithful are putting their money where their mouths are.

If we truly believe we might be entering a bear to 3800 or 2800 or beyond... why would we stay in Crypto?  It is far more profitable to sell for USD, pay the taxes and buy back in next year at 70% cost or perhaps half price.

A more cynical way to put it is, sometimes it seems like markets do the thing that will hurt the MOST people. Wink

Assuming that cynicism is even partly true... What would that be right about now?
4583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 11, 2017, 06:29:20 PM
I never said anything about never. I'm referring to short and medium term. I see a good possibility this current bull run in crypto may be close to running out of steem. That doesn't mean crypto doesn't have a bigger future but it requires both internal and external changes, which may come more slowly.

Then again, nothing is guaranteed. I may be completely wrong.

I see what you did there...
4584  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 10, 2017, 06:13:32 PM
Hm, I wonder what will Honey Badger's reaction be like.

"I'll take 'Doesn't Give a Fuck' for $5,000, Alex"

Heh. That is multiple levels of awesome.
4585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 08, 2017, 01:23:15 PM

Markets are irrational sometimes.  Crypto markets doubly so.  If I were in that particular house of cards at the moment I would move quietly and quickly to an exit.  Once masternodes start to try to get out the exits might get a little crowded.
4586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 08, 2017, 01:11:21 PM

WOW.

The article is surprisingly informed for mainstream (internet) media offering.  And they rip Dash to tiny little pieces.

The last bit:

Quote
And this ignorant behavior of the team is an issue of grave concern as it violates the privacy assured to the users. Such intentional breach of user’s trust is a problem which makes DASH an insecure platform for the users.

Dang.
4587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 07, 2017, 11:02:52 PM

Haha   'Monero did not respond to CNBC's request for comment'  LOL

I asked the rain this morning if it would stop, and it didn't respond either.  I wonder what's going on Huh

This is when you know the person who made the video has no clue what Monero is.
Kind of funny actually.
Aside from that mistake they summed it up well.  Though they also said transactions don't share the senders 'name'.  Also a relief. Wink
4588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 06, 2017, 09:38:49 PM

So, quick poll here boys: what do y'all think kinda looks good at the moment OTHER than XMR for me to put some of this liquidated Dash money into?

The next one on my list is Bitcoin.

What happened to instantsend?
4590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 06, 2017, 02:18:47 PM

The Dash News is old stuff already known for a few days so why should it do anything to the market today Wink

It takes time for news to spread and people to react.

For example, I'm online all day every day doing basically nothing but reading crypto-related news in-between my usual day-job activities, on all sorts of sites and from many diverse sources, yet even I -- totally plugged in -- only heard this Dash-exploit news just this morning (from the link here in this thread, as I said).

My reaction was to dump my coins immediately, and yes maybe I'm in the minority doing that (? or maybe not) and maybe "late to react" but multiply this anecdotal evidence example by a few tens of thousands of other instances over yesterday, today, tomorrow, next week etc... and there you go.

Good move IMHO.  Many of us here (in the *toxic* Monero community) have been dubious of Dash's security because of the multiple attack vectors all it's many 'features' present.  Dash is not quite the Rube Goldberg machine Etherium is, but they both suffer from this problem.  That and the fact so much of Dash's feature set has had little peer review and scrutiny.
4591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 05, 2017, 01:53:16 PM
Monero is one of only 3 projects, of the top 20, that are in full compliance with FINCEN and SEC rules. The other two being Bitcoin and Litecoin. Aminorex's predictions for the following year are starting to sound more and more likely.

what? which 3 are in full compliance with fincen and sec rules exactly?

Original commenter's opinion bolded above.

Old news to people reading this thread:

https://qz.com/1069077/bitcoin-fails-as-a-haven-amid-fears-of-nuclear-conflict-between-us-and-north-korea/

We're not quite "there" yet.

Although I agree with that analysis, I do believe the current situation is more complex than just seeing if Crypto is ready to be a safe haven during war.  The China news, I think, may be playing a more primary role in the current pullback than speculation around Korea.
4592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2017, 02:38:22 PM
This is possibly the best news I've read in months.

Really the only thing that happened today was the removal of a gangrenous toxic appendage that was beginning to decay the core of crypto.

So many scams are going to wither away now.

Additionally, it allowed the formation of a correction/consolidation phase that was quite sorely needed IMO.

Whether the market is cauterized or allowed to heal, I don't know.

I guess you mean ICOs. Cool

Seems like Fluffypony's trolling video about ICOs has been taken seriously by the government. Grin

You do not have to have seen FP's 'announcement video' to understand that the primary thing ICOs are doing is taking the already scam ridden world of Cryptocurrencies and magnifying the scummy parts to an extent it actually begins to threaten the valuable, purer aspects of the space.  I am first for liberty.  But it's hard not to be a little bit happy when you see the boot of an oppressive government actually come down on people who deserve it.
4593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 04, 2017, 12:18:47 AM
Unfortunately it seems like conflict with NKorea is inevitable. What are your thoughts on what this will do to not only the crypto markets, but the regular markets as well?

Unless you are scared of CGI I wouldn't worry about it

You think they faked an earthquake?

I'd say serious conflict would cause a flight to stability.  Metals will rise.   Crypto ready to take some of gold's shine or not?
4594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 01, 2017, 02:39:37 PM
30 minutes before the beginning of the bithumb's monero contest !!!

U guys think it Will just take off like that?

The only safe bet is there will be an increase in volume today.

Personally, I am not sure what direction we go.  At least it will be interesting to watch.
4595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 29, 2017, 02:16:03 PM
I don't understand these huge rises and falls for this coin.  Monero should be something that everyone is getting.  Bitcoin is great, but Monero seems like it has a real future, especially in places where bitcoin may be watched by governments.  Why is XMR dropping so much right now???

There are buyers and sellers in the market, and this time there are more sellers than buyers. So that's the reason why the price is dropping now.  Cool

Lol.  Simple truth.

Looks like the 130-131 range is holding nicely while bitcoin starts doing it's roman candle impersonation.

Let's see if the price level will hold. I don't see why XMR can't be valued so high. In the end it's a good coin with lots of pros IMHO.
Way better the DASH in terms of privacy

With all due respect Dash is not a one trick pony, the privacy is only part of DASH, while Monero is primarily focused on privacy, and XMR those so at the cost of transparancy of the blockchain, a non-transparant blockchain, destroys the trust-less nature of a blockchain, in case of monero it means that it possible that coins can be printed out of thin air and this is not some FUD, it proven that such a bug in fact has been found, and there is no knowing there are more.

proof here:
https://getmonero.org/2017/05/17/disclosure-of-a-major-bug-in-cryptonote-based-currencies.html

This seems to be the talking points for the anti-monero hoard currently.

As to one trick ponies... I'd rather do one thing well than build a rube goldberg contraption.
4597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2017, 01:49:46 AM
tempted to sell a little off the top of that to rebuy at 3000000... I dunno though - 1 1/2 hours till the deposit period closes. They're gonna start clutching and holding it until the trading period opens

I've been looking for a way to deposit on Bithumb.  I do not see xmr deposits being available.  What am I missing?
4598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2017, 01:33:37 AM
Ooh... look at that action.  Place your bets!
4599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 28, 2017, 12:44:21 AM

People don't want to hear it beforehand, and sure as hell don't like hearing about it after the fact.  So many people complaining that they 'missed the boat'. Ya I guess the 2 or 3 zeroes yet to come are not worth gaining, only the first few  Roll Eyes

"You're exuberant", he'd say.
4600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 27, 2017, 12:51:02 AM

Where is TrueCryptonaire ?!?! lol

Crying like a little girl?

Don't worry, he will be back telling us he "filled his bags with xmr" 2 weeks ago eventually.  He is smarter than all of us.  And his pepecash has made him rich.
