4581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ripple a better fit for payment solutions? on: November 21, 2020, 11:48:27 PM
Ripple (XRP) plays a dual roles as a payment platform and a currency at the same time, is this currency better fit for payment solution than ethereum and Bitcoin since it's created to allow quick and cheap transactions out of the box

At this time of writing this post ripple is trading at 0.34$ with daily volume of 4billion dollars, in the last 24hrs XRP is up 14%, what's your take on this?
That's always been the aim of XRP as far as I know, to be a crypto payment and their target? - a billion dollar remittance business that's why they have partnered with a lot of companies to really take a slice on that big pie. So it's not a threat to bitcoin per se, but it will be on remittance services such as Western Union or MoneyGram and others. It will continue to go up, as bitcoin is going up as well, sort of a trickle effect on the top 10 altcoins.

Eaglebrook Advisors Announces that Mariner Wealth Advisors is Making the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA Available to Clients

Quote
WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eaglebrook Advisors, Inc (“Eaglebrook”) announced today that Mariner Wealth Advisors will make the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA available for clients who want access to bitcoin as part of their investment plan. Mariner Wealth Advisors is a national wealth advisory firm, with more than $35 billion assets under advisement1, that has been ranked in the top five RIAs by Barron’s for the last five years2.

Based in Washington, D.C., Eaglebrook is a crypto-focused investment firm that serves registered investment advisors (RIAs) and financial advisors. Eaglebrook is proud to announce the launch of the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA which will allow financial advisors to allocate to bitcoin in a simple and secure way3. The advantages of the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA include tax optimization, direct ownership, and portfolio integration. Eaglebrook streamlines client onboarding, movement of funds, trade execution, reporting data aggregation, rebalancing, and tax documentation. This investment solution allows financial advisors to include bitcoin in their clients’ asset allocation strategy and overall financial plan.

“We are excited to offer this new solution to clients of Mariner Wealth Advisors where bitcoin fits into their overall wealth plan,” said Marty Bicknell, CEO and president of Mariner Wealth Advisors. “Our desire to find new solutions is always driven by client need and we are looking forward to working with Eaglebrook on this new endeavor.”

Demand for bitcoin from financial advisors and their clients has accelerated due to current trends, including the growth in investment demand from millennials and institutional investors, bitcoin’s potential as an inflation hedge in response to monetary stimulus and the asymmetric upside of the investment.

“We are thrilled to be working with Mariner Wealth Advisors,” said Christopher King, CEO of Eaglebrook Advisors. “Our investment solution, designed to meet the unique needs of firms such as Mariner Wealth Advisors, makes it easy for their advisors to allocate to bitcoin. We expect cryptocurrency adoption to continue and the market to mature, driving even greater demand.”

Eaglebrook has selected Gemini Trust Company, LLC (“Gemini”) as the qualified custodian for the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA. The client’s bitcoin is owned directly and is stored in an offline, institutional-grade custody account at Gemini.

"We are very pleased to have been selected as Eaglebrook's custodian to help them provide RIAs a secure way to store their digital assets. These types of solutions are critical to provide more financial advisors exposure to digital assets," said Noah Perlman, Chief Operating Officer at Gemini.

So as per their website:

Quote
Bitcoin Investment Solutions for Financial Advisors

Eaglebrook Advisors is a crypto-focused investment firm that provides financial advisors with simple, secure and compliant access to bitcoin through the Eaglebrook Bitcoin SMA

https://eaglebrookadvisors.com/

And they had partnered with Mariner Wealth Advisors, so their clients now have the ability to allocate their wealth into BTC. So demand is really accelerating for bitcoin, from financial advisors in behalf of their clients. And as we nearing $20k, I think this news could up add to that push, and even a new all time high.

Thank you for those who have reported this fake apps, Google has taken it down already.

4585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Catalyst for starting next Bitcoin Bear market? on: November 21, 2020, 09:50:32 PM

It must be CBDC that will cause the next long bear market. It could start a bear market when CBDC starts to impose some regulations and taxes. There is much to be afraid of to the CBDC. It's the only thing that's new to crypto. Probably institutional investors being hacked or going to take profit and failure of Defi and DEX.
What has CBDC has to do with bear market? Obviously, when government started to roll their CBCD it will have tax some as fiat.

I agree with the sentiments here, the next bear market would begin when we have reach the top again, whether in one to two years time, whales and big institution taking their profits, causing panic to average joe and noobs, having domino effect. No need for catalyst, probably if there will be some news, it will be just to cause more fuel, encouraging more selling.
4586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First it was Coinbase, now its Poloniex - unexpected downtime during BTC upswing on: November 21, 2020, 09:25:38 PM
I guess they didn't expect the traffic in their exchange or they experience some technical problems but it will be good if they can provide a little information about the unexpected issue that they are facing so their users can easily understand why they are unavailable.
I doubt that is the change with Poloniex, they should expect hight traffic regardless if we are in a bull or bear cycle, that what a good exchanges should be.

I am not so sure if BTC upswing is the main reason why those two are having an unexpected downtime but if they are not releasing any information to what happen in their side then what we can do is to guess only about the reason behind their downtime. Let's just hope that they will return as soon as possible so the traders in their platform will not be left behind.
Coincidence? Be my guess, of course they come back after a brief moment, but those precious times spells the difference for most traders to make or squeeze some money or loss some, so it's very important.

The changes has already in effect, thinking of taking it just for fun, lol.

Brrr. Suddenly the Nets became the 2nd favorite.
Now, what team will I be betting on this season to win impossible games.  Grin
GSW went down all of a sudden with just one news about Klay.
Well, I guess I might win some bets rooting for GSW now.
Curry is still there and so are Green and Wiggins. Who knows if suddenly Wiseman had the right chemistry with the team.
Then bandwagons will be back.  Wink
We will see in the first few games if Wiggins is a perfect fit to the Golden State Warriors. He really needs to step up if he wanted to become the next Klay or at least perform better with a healthy Curry and Green and reach his true potential. And if he blossomed, then I'm sure the bandwagons will be back and even more.  Smiley and that odds will be change.

Just another warning guys, since bitcoin and the rest of the altcoins are having a good spike recently, scammers are also taking advantage by creating a lot of fake airdrops like YFinance because it is the hottest commodity right now.
4589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deutsche Bank: Investors Increasingly Choose Bitcoin Over Gold on: November 20, 2020, 10:52:06 PM
It doesn't matter if we agree or disagree with the report. But it's pretty obvious by now, bitcoin, in the best asset during the pandemic and that is enough to say that wise investors are really looking into it specially that the price is hovering around $19k and close to it's all time high.

There could be some gold bugs who doesn't want to acknowledge bitcoin and think that it will be gone in 2020, but it is not. So many of them are thinking of not shifting, but at least have bitcoin in their portfolio now, win-win situation for them and for us.

4591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: November 17, 2020, 09:00:04 PM
Olympics games are somewhat a business, an opportunity for the host country to make money or at least break even as far as expenses goes. So I doubt that they will allow the Olympics without fans and tourist. So it means that they will only push through when everything has settled down, specially the vaccines. So yes, it might not happen next year, and could be postponed up to 2022.
4592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can Crypto be Good for Mass Adoption? on: November 17, 2020, 08:43:13 PM
Now this begs the question, How can crypto be good for mass adoption? How can an average person buy Bitcoin(/s) when the price reaches a newer level? Many people have enjoyed(or should I use the word earned) free crypto (please stop Denying), Many have mined, Staked, Bought at the lowest of prices and so on. How can it be any good for the mass adoption when only a few (in comparison to the people around the world who are not yet into Crypto) have the crypto currency just because they are a bit early into the scene.
You can still buy bitcoin though, the thing with newbie is that they always thought that you need to buy 1 BTC immediately. Nope. You can simply #stack sats.

Now, It's not that I'm against anything, But the real problem that no one seems to care about is how can the wealth be distributed equally among all so that people (irrespective of being late) enjoy all the benefits equally And the majority of the funds are not controlled by few individuals.
That is your second issue, bitcoin is not meant to solve wealth inequalities. Not a magic bean to solve every financial problems around the world.

Olympics: Bach expresses confidence in Tokyo Games even as virus cases surge.

Quote
TOKYO (Reuters) - International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach expressed confidence on Monday that the Tokyo Games will be held successfully next year, even allowing spectators, despite a sharp rise in coronavirus infections worldwide.

The President of IOC was in Japan recently so he issued a statement that the Summer Olympics could be held in 2021 with fans being allowed to watch the game. However, he is banking on that idea that a vaccine could have been discovered next year, so with that said, the Games is still uncertain next year.
4594  Economy / Economics / Re: Technology is rendering the fiat money system of the 20th Century obsolete on: November 16, 2020, 10:47:52 PM
#FinTech revolutions of the early 21st Century are now bringing about a qualitative leap.   Moreover, open finance systems are now on the verge of being mature enough to replace the #fiat system as solidified under the Bretton Woods agreement.
Open finance being mature? Nah still far from being mature or make some progressed. And I doubt that fiat system will be obsolete or replace by a new system that all governments around the world are going to agree. We are still far from that and I don't see it happening in our lifetime. Covid-19 much have push it though, but then again, there's too much at stake right now that fiat system will here to stay.
4595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lebanon to launch digital currency in face of economic and financial turmoil on: November 16, 2020, 10:25:01 PM
Lebanon’s central bank plans to launch a new digital currency in 2021 as part of a broader effort to combat a parallel economic and financial crisis that has engulfed the country.  READ THE COMPLETE DETAILS HERE: https://worldpublicityblog.com/index.php/2020/11/14/lebanon-to-launch-digital-currency-in-face-of-economic-and-financial-turmoil/
great news for all of us...
Other countries will certainly follow if it is proven that Lebanon's digital currency is Lebanon's way out of the crisis. This outbreak is making the economies of many countries dying, the digital currency revolution is urgently needed to create a safe exit.

How will this a good news for all of us? This is just another crypto back by government, and just like fiat the government can have total control of their digital issued crypto. So there's no way that you should treat this a safe haven or safe exit that you are talking about. If you wanted to have a safe haven crypto, go to BTC and not a state sponsored digital fiat.
4596  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just in - Bitcoin at $15 000 on: November 16, 2020, 10:05:30 PM
^^ I was surprised to see the price ~$16k again, but I thought its Monday morning in Asia today so there might be some movement that will push the price to $16k again. So let's see if the price movement from Asia will have a positive effect (I do hope), but in any case that a $15600, still looks healthy correction to me. Probably that will be the (strong) support for now before making another spike to $17k-$18k next month.
Yes, the price now back to $16k, so we can make a profit again. Although the price is not back to $16,400, it still a good profit for us.
Some people already sold their bitcoin at the current price, but they also wait for the next high price, which will happen later.
Maybe the correction will be back again, but I am sure that the price can handle it and the price can be back to have another rally.
But we need to be careful because we don't know how deep the correction will come later.
After all, the correction itself will always happen in the crypto market.
The price will touch the other high price and make another spike, and hopefully, the price can touch more than $17k-$18k.
See I told yah,  Smiley Asian market is really into bitcoin specially when it's opening at their time frame, $16,600 going to $16,700, so this is another retest in the following days, so let's see if we can sustain the growth for this week at least, resistance becoming support and then goes to the next level of $17k-$18k December, we are extremely in the bullish phase.

4598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 16, 2020, 09:42:23 PM
Paul George is injured way back and I think it could really affect his full potential in playing basketball. Kawhi is a  scorer and not really a good leader that can carry a team like Lebron James. CP3 is way better among the players ecen Rudy Gobert. This guy is explosive and unpredictable with his moves and that he is a playmaker. I think they could be one of the best team in NBA next season but for now it so hard to beat the Lakers with Lebron and Davis and other leading scorers in the team.
I think this adjustments from the Clippers was really a reaction to Lakers. I mean they want someone in the middle like Rudy as a defensive presence, but it will be more on CP3 as a big factor if ever they will go and chase the ring next season. CP3 has proven itself a top notch playmaker and I think that's what Clippers needs to have a good chance against the Lakers or the rest of the powerful Western team.

Sorry for those who bet on Tsitsipas or at least a fan of him as he losses to Dominic Thiem in 3 sets. It was a good match actually, Thiem taking the first and them Tsitsipas coming back in the second to make it 1-1. But then again, we have seen him very inconsistent and that what cause him to lose the match in the 3rd set. Nadal as usual, was dominant against a game Rublev, 6-3, 6-4.

@Jating - good call on Nadal, that is a good ML odds indeed.
