461  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: March 14, 2014, 10:06:45 PM
sure, i understand the switch can work quite well with scrypt, but I would like so see someone with more intelligence than I (not a difficult task) compile a SHA256 profit switching pool that works well.

multipool has a SHA256 switcher as well as an scrypt one: https://www.multipool.us/index.php

Guys, I'm done posting here.  Too many subcontractors working for the US Government spreading propaganda about Mazacoin.

You really have an over-exaggerated opinion of the importance of alt-coins.

christ, is that just poor design or are mongo databases meant to be used for small stuff?

And part of me still wants you direct 100% to ghash in order to kill the offer for the 15GH/s whale!  Because why should we be forced to back off while he reaps all the rewards!!
Why should he be forced to back off while you reap all the rewards?
Welll you do realize that 15ghash is simply obnoxious for scrypt right?

Im not against a miner that have 100, 200 ou even 500 mhash, but i do have when there is one sucker with 15ghash!!!

It is a game of making money.
They have invested more money in order to make more money.

Ghash pool speed reporting approx. 38gh/s but reward multiplier has not gone back up?
There seems to be some lag, but the good thing is that only one block seems to be at 1.25x value, all the rest are 2x.

It is presumably based on the most recent closed shift.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [AUTO SWITCH] ScryptGuild (BTC Guild) Beta - Multipool Done Right on: March 14, 2014, 01:38:47 PM
It appears that GHash.io are offering 200% payout for LTC mining for the next week.
Would it make sense to have ScryptGuild be able to proxy to GHash when that is the most profitable option?
Apparently you can't withdraw for 48 hours after the account is first opened.

Something of a bait-and-switch, as it turns out:
Quote
To prevent getting 51% of the Litecoin network, the reward multiplier will be adjusted according to the pool speed. Current multiplier: x1.25.

Pool Speed   Reward multiplier
0 – 40 GH/s   x2
40 – 60 GH/s   x1.25
60+ GH/s   x1

469  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [185 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: March 14, 2014, 12:38:30 PM
In case you are, or in case there are other readers as confused as I, you can think about it like this: the number of p2Pool shares a miner submits per time period is an approximately Poisson distributed random number. This means that the standard deviation of this number is proportional to the square root of the mean. As the share submission rate increases, the standard deviation only increases as the square root of the mean, so a miner with a greater share submission rates has, proportionally, a much lower standard deviation.
The key word you are using there, which contributes much to the confusion, is proportionately. In fact the standard deviation, measured in units of dollars, btc, or anything else is higher for the larger miner. It grows more slowly than the mean, but it still grows. A small miner has a small standard deviation in absolute terms.

A standard deviation in absolute terms makes no sense conceptually.
Small miners suffer from much higher variance on p2pool than large miners.
You don't care because they aren't earning much anyway, they do.
p2pool may be a poor choice for small miners anyway, because the payouts they do end up receiving will be in many tiny chunks which will end up costing them more to spend than a single payout from a normal pool.
470  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Country XXXX declares Bitcoin legal tender. What happens next? on: March 14, 2014, 11:39:12 AM
I'm guessing that if a trade goes wrong at the moment (in any jurisdiction) and somebody effectively 'steals' your bitcoins, no jurisdiction recognises bitcoins as being money, and thus no legal system will consider you to have made a financial loss and they won't get involved.
Why would it matter that what was stolen isn't money?  If I trade my motorcycle to Bill for his car, and he finds a way to defraud me (fake title or something of the like), you honestly think the court says "oh, well, since no money was involved, there was no theft"?  That's not how the legal system works.
It doesn't matter whether what is stolen is money or not. What matters is that you have been defrauded of something that has legally recognised, financial value, in your example, your motorcycle.

The point I was trying to make is that fiat money is legally recognised as having financial value but bitcoins (probably?) are not recognised as such so if somebody steals your bitcoins it is not at all clear to a court of law that that you have suffered any sort of financial loss that they could try to sort out on your behalf.

Gold is not legal tender, but has value.
Shares are not legal tender, but have value.
Land titles are not legal tender, but have value.
And so on.

That statement is false.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: EUROPACOIN Announcement Official on: March 13, 2014, 02:41:26 PM
We appreciate your input, as I mentioned, Europa will be released with the lowest starting difficulty, which allows

... the developers to insta-mine the crap out of it.
If you had followed any altcoin releases you would know that a too-low starting difficulty just leads to orphans for almost everybody.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Euphoria Coin [New Algo][Nvidia Cards Welcome] [New Wallet] on: March 13, 2014, 02:07:44 PM
We are limiting Radeon performance by only about 7%. The new algo does indeed give better performance for Nvidia Cards.

And as soon as the source code is available, people will simply remove the limitation and recompile, so what is the point?

I remember seeing a post that the tribe (or President) gave Payu and Mazacoin their blessings. I would like to know to what extent this is. Are they planning on adopting it rather quickly? Are they simply suggesting he can continue his endeavor apart from the tribe?

You can see the memorandum of understanding here: http://cryptominers.freeforums.org/the-memorandum-of-understanding-t10.html
It is clear that on some level the tribe has been engaged with Payu and is aware of the project, but the MoU doesn't really give many details, so there is no information about whether they have agreed they would ever adopt it as a currency or not.
will you continue to stand in their way?

What on earth are you talking about?
Someone asked a question, I pointed them to the answer.

I understand this but there is one problem - in original CPU miner from Neisklar (https://github.com/Neisklar/quarkcoin-cpuminer) I am pretty sure diff1 is set the same as sha256 and it is used by thousands of users...

It used to be that the Neisklar miner was hardcoded to never submit shares below a certain difficulty, which masked the problem. This was fixed 7 months ago.
Not sure if that is related to this issue?

Fix issue that miner could only work with diff 0.0039... or higher (not that that matters much now:)

As for you, I will just have to take your word for it...

Which is why I didn't bothering answering the first N times people asked, because the immediate reaction will be not to believe me anyway, so why bother?

If you really do have no interest in Maza - then do you have an interest in me?

Absolutely none whatsoever.

If you have no interest in Maza- why should people have an interest in what you have to say about it?

Something doesn't become true or false based on the interests of the person saying it.

Look what I just found

http://www.indianz.com/News/2014/012781.asp
So they reported that it was true and now they are reporting that it's false? WTF reputable source for sure  Roll Eyes

Where is the contradiction? (Apart from falsly stating that Harris is a Ogala Lakota)
The first says that the currency has been designed by Payu for the Lakota. Is has.
The second says that the currency hasn't been officially adopted by the Lakota. Is hasn't.

I stand corrected Iceland is a Sovereign nation. Great so now

WHY THE FUCK YOU DO YOU CARE SO MUCH?!?!

You keep dodging that question which destroyed any credibility you my hope to have. Please enlighten us to your motive.

Why do you?
I get annoyed when people repeatedly post false information, so I correct them.

I hold no MazaCoin, I have no intention of ever holding any MazaCoin.
I have no MazaCoin derivatives or other instruments.
It makes no financial difference to me one way of the other what the price of MazaCoin is.
I'm guessing the same isn't true of you?

Do you now agree that the title of this thread is incorrect?

For someone that puts a lot of importance on words you don't seem to understand this one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereignty
The political countries that other coins would represent are not sovereign nations.

Iceland is not a sovereign nation?
Cyprus is not a sovereign nation?
Romania is not a sovereign nation?
I don't think you understand what the word means.

I'll counter your Wikipedia link with this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states
