461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: February 04, 2014, 10:16:59 PM
nwoolls,

Once again thank you for the fantastic software.

The main reason I downloaded and use Multiminer was for automated coin switching, because I was tired of having to get on coinwarz 18 times a day and stop and re-run another bat file on my headless miner that I have to connect to with VNC.

However after using this great software for two days, it still seems like we are years behind a system that would actually work for switching. And once that is developed there will be no point in switching because there comes a balance in the market. If the coin switching was built into CGMINER then coinwarz would not exist because your profitability would become a direct result of your mining capacity not a result of how fast you can switch between coins and how much free time you have to watch the market.

And even that is not enough these days.

Coinwarz has been continuously displaying incorrect difficulties and coins pop up to the top of the list when they should not. I dont understand why someone with the programming skills who made coinwarz would ever use an instant snapshot for difficulty as opposed to having like a 2 min avg. The snapshot difficulty is making coins pop up and down incorrectly and pretty much random. I have even seen ExtremeCoin pop up to the top and its a coin that's always at the bottom of the list.

In other words, without proper realtime information on difficulty, a working automated coins witching system is not possible.

For now I am really enjoying the smooth coin switching feature of multiminer. I just wish your android app would do that as well.

Whats KGW?

And by the way, are they working on a Wallet with a more sophisticated virus that no one can find for a while this time? Because last time they were busted as they used a basic virus and the first person installing it caught it and let everyone know here.

Can someone enlighten me what happened to this coin in terms of confirmations and blocks taking almost an hour now and difficulty stuck at a very high rate? Is it because many people left mining it all of a sudden?
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the Best Alt Coin Going?? on: February 03, 2014, 09:10:55 PM
Absolutely NET
No premine.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the Best Alt Coin Going?? on: February 03, 2014, 08:36:47 PM
I would mine DOGE.
Sell as you mine.
Buy NET and stash away for the halving of blocks in 29 days or so that's another 50% anticipated gain.

Never buy what you mine.
Never mine what you buy.

Mine what spikes on coinwarz. Happens to be DOGE for a month.
Sell that right away and as you mine (Cryptsy does that automatically) and buy what you think will go up in value. Never buy any premined or instamined coins. I think NET has huge potential.
466  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Scrypt ASIC / SHA-256 combo miners Pics details on: February 03, 2014, 07:14:17 PM
Ok, on the long run its a better deal than Buying 2 mining rigs with R9 280x or HD 7590s. The GPU rigs will start giving profit sooner though then after about a month Big Bit will catch up. So its arguable. Considering size though and power consumption I guess bit wins... but only on the long run measured at least 6 months or longer. I think the best deal of all would be to add 1500$ and just buy cointerra for May batch.

thats probably the better way to go because GPU commmunity is much larger and will switch to another asic resistant coin system like sha-2 or 3 whatever, and those who buy dedicated hardware with no resale value will join those who have a BFL Jalopeneo still trying to pay off the product.

rememeber a GPU system has 70-80% resale value or higher if you get a deal when bying. an underpowered asic has zero value.

let me give you an example. the $2,200 BFL 600GH card that is supposedly coming out, i saw the non working prototype a month ago in CES 2014 and at the time, if it was working, it was capable of making a bit coin in only 5 days and that is back then, 4 weeks ago. Something didnt click right with me, why would a unit making $200/day be sold for only $2,000?? well, it wont when you get it. the unit is still months away from being shipped and due to difficulty increase it , if it were in the market now it would only make one BTC in 7.5 days. when 10,000 of those hit the market and you receive yours in the mail, it will probably make one BTC in 50 days and soon after before you even hit the first 50 days it will be sink and make one BTc in 500 days, because there are now 10,000. of them running on the same network.

nwoolls,

so i have used the software for half a day, of course ran out of coinwarz api in the first couple of hours so it switched to coinchoose which has absolutely incorrect data for most coins which renders multiminer unable to pick the right coin. coinchoose has been telling multiminer that WDC for example is more profitable than doge, while its like 20th on the list on coinwarz. Wasted my rig time for hours. also coinchoose is missing some critical coins like neo and net. coinchoose also think litecoin is the third most profitable to mine while its actually the 20 or 30th coin.

basically what im saying is that i still have to manually check coinwarz and switch coins. i still love your program as it makes it easy to manage all these pools and switch with a couple of clickcs between coins. i wish the mobile app could order the rig to switch coins though, that would be awesome. On my phone I held my finger on my machine and the only option is to delete the rig. Also bfgminer seems to give a bit higher hashrate than cgminer. pretty interesting.

nwoolls: I have to say your single click update of the software is Apple Inc quality. Great job overall with everything you have done.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: February 03, 2014, 08:21:15 AM
I too would like it to cease suggesting coins that are less than the coin set to never mine anything less valuable than.  I requested this a while back.

This is still on my to-do list, but I believe he is referring to having the strategies ignore coins that "spike" in profitability and then immediately fall back down (not the "coin suggestions" feature).

Exactly! Im talking about coins that SPIKE for a few seconds and once the massive pool owner reboots his system the coin drops deep down in the list to very un-profitable. Add that to the 15 minute delay coinwarz has then one would be spinning his wheels trying to ever catch 42 or Star for example at a low diff range.

This may be a bit hard to implement though. How would you know its a spike? I mean I know by now after looking at the list for a month, but how do you program it.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: February 03, 2014, 08:07:58 AM

That you for the suggestion. In the meantime you can use Average Profitability rather than straight profitability to work around this.

Thanks, I'm worried if I do average (I'm assuming its 24 hours) then I will be mining DOGE the whole year long lol.

By the way did you consider moving the items out of the drop down and using the area highlighted below? It is pretty hard to click on those specially from a remote desktop. It also feel unnecessary to click twice instead of once.

471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner Remoting & MobileMiner: Your rigs. Your coins. Your pools. Your way. on: February 03, 2014, 07:55:32 AM
Ok back to my issue, I got it running (I don't know what happened but the Start button that was grey suddenly became available). Anyway, I have it going but it doesnt do the checking for most profitable coin, it actually does not show any prices either. So its stuck on a very low profitability coin. The difficulty, exchange, profitability and the coin dont change at all as if it doesnt connect to coinwarz.

Click on Settings > Advanced service settings, then enable the notifications for API errors. I'm assuming there will be a CoinWarz API error notification that pops up after. Click the link to view the error.

Note that CoinWarz free API key limits you to 25 calls a day and 1,000 calls total. The pre-release I linked a few posts above has a new "failover" mechanism for the Coin APIs which may help with this (you can set it to prefer CoinChoose.com and fail over to CoinWarz.com).

Fantastic, thank you. I got it to work and it actually switched coins. Can it just scrape the coinwarz.com page? Or is that unethical? lol.

So Coinchoose is free to use unlimioted? I dont know where to get the API for coinchoose.

Thanks I will try the new version.

O and one more thing, you may want to add something to the code that ignores coins that pop up for a few minutes with lets say sudden -70% or -90% difficulty. These flash profitable coins usually don't last more than a few minutes probably while some pool owner reboots their computer or something. Then the coin dives down deep into the unprofitability zone deep down coinwarz. Starcoin is like that, so is 42 for example or bitbar.

here is my coins page:

here is my strategy page:

here is my perks page:

(By the way, if I could make a suggestion, 15min for checking the strategy is a bit long, considering coinwarz is already 15 minutes behind, this could be completely useless. For example NETCOIN gets low difficulty for maybe 10minute, those 10minutes could be worth 40 regular minutes or more)
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Netcoin | Scrypt | **No Premine** on: February 03, 2014, 12:20:33 AM
Looks like NETCOIN is ready to be invested in. Check eBay sales to see what this is worth. Packages for 100 and 500 coins are selling for $20 that is 4 times what its worth. I am moving most of my BTC and LTC into NET today as it dipped below 1400 Satoshi for the first time. So this is primed to get in now.

I am expecting a 50% profit at min up to 2100 Satoshi by a few days before it halves in 30 days. Remember this coin was trading around 4000 Satoshi in January.

It also hit #1 coin on coinwarz in the past few days including today yielding the highest profit in Scrypt coins.

I downloaded multiminer but the start button is greyed out. Is there instructions anywhere?

There's a Getting Started blog post here:

http://blog.nwoolls.com/2013/12/11/bitcoin-mining-on-windows-multiminer/

And some instructions with a FAQ here:

https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/blob/master/README.md

It could definitely use more documentation if anyone has time to contribute.

If the Start button is disabled it means you either don't have any devices detected or they aren't configured with a Coin / Pool. If you have devices visible, right-click the device name and select a coin. If you haven't configured any coins, click the arrow next to Settings and then Coins.

Did you walk through the Getting Started wizard? That should have left you with everything setup, as long as you have a device capable of mining.

Maybe a screenshot would help?

Thank you I got it to work and I found out how to put in the --intensity etc commands from my cgminer .bat file into the application. If I may make a suggestion wouldnt it be easier to se up all the blank space for the START/STOP and SETTING/COINS/STRATEGY/PERKS instead of a drop down? I dont see a reason for having to click twice. Remember me, like most others, connect with a remote desktop VNC (I even do from my phone) so trying to AIM directly on that tiny little triangle is very difficult and doesnt even appear necessary when all that grey space is wide open.

Also, does the profit switching only work when 1% is donated? because I turned on perks but it doesnt switch coins just stuck on one and that is actually not the most profitable, also does not does it show the profitability etc on the main screen.

476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 02, 2014, 10:49:50 AM
Considering this coin will be CPU-only at launch, are you not worried about botnets having a high % of hashing power compared to the "average" miner?

With scrypt variants this is less of an issue, with coins that have CPU mining only the reward for mining for the average Joe is very limited.

Considering SHA-3 should not be that hard to implement on GPU, are you not worried that CPU miners will be overrun by GPU miners (I guess that whoever writes the miner won't just disclose the source or even its existence) soon after start?
There is already working SHA-3 implementation as part of scrypt-jane miners, so ripping just sha-3 out of it ... wouldn't be probably very hard Wink.

That is exactly what is going to happen. The happy-go-lucky crowd will be making 42 coins a day on their expensive i7-4700k and the GPU miners with their undisclosed mining software will be making 1.2 Million coins during the same day.

Im sorry to say this but there is so much openness and fairness built into Satoshi's implementation of bitcoin technology and continued over to Scrypt, that with the exception of pre-mining and insta-mining, every coin that uses some "innovative" technology (aka giving some secret advantage to the developer) has to be looked at carefully.

I'll consider buying back at 1 satoshi, make back what I lost.

You will not even get the chance of buying it back for 5 satoshis. Many of you still have to learn that it's easy to sell a coin but hard to buy back your entire stash cheaper. The huge sell order alone should make anyone suspicious of manipulation. When it hits rock bottom (very soon) it will shoot up.

-1

You just made somthing up out of nowhere that makes no sense whatsoever. I sold at 34 and thought I made a profit, then bought back at 28, sold it at 20 at a huge loss. Bought back at 18 and sold at 14 at another massive loss.

You are so wrong its not even funny. I couldve bought all my coins I sold at 34 now at 9.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have $1700 USD Make me up a Portfoilo! on: February 01, 2014, 03:34:48 PM
Invest $1 each in all 1700 of the altcoins.  Only way to make sure you're in on the "big one."  LOL   Cool

O and then when that BIG one hits he only makes like $32.54? lol

Anyway, I would do this:

$0 in BTC its already made its run there is no making money there, it will swing forever, boring, like a savings account.
$500 in LTC because its currently low around 0.26 until it hits 0.33BTC then sell and get out.
$500 in NET because its one of the few prestigeous coins with no premine, no instamine and very little promotion
$400 in MOON @ 10 then sell at 15, this is a short term play.
$300 in FAST only because it has dropped lately to around 1100, and get out when you make 50%

Can you create a HTML only versino that is fast. The site opens really slow on all my PCs, doesnt work properly at all on my iPad and my Galaxy S4 with the "Support" button covering where I type in the chatbox. Can you please release a working version of the website with NO AJAX, no JAVA, no FLASH, (maybe just asp) and no jumping jack mumbo jumbo on the screen? just pure simple HTML that works with no objects constantly moving around the screen for 5 minutes while the screen loads? Most important part is a MOBILE version because Im 90% on my phone 9% on my iPad and 1% on the PC basically I only go on the PC to type in this forum and use coinex lol.

NET once again #1 on Coinwarz. Just a headsup. bitcoop.tk is one of the best pools I have found that pays you all you mine ubnlike many others who pay you only 50% like multipool and netcodes
