So what can you expect in the next few days? Firstly, and with your help, we will be testing the Launcher and releasing an application that demonstrates key features of the SAFE Network. This will not only represent the largest field test (if as many people as we hope participate) of the SAFE Network to date, it will also provide some essential real world feedback on several key (and some world first) areas:

• Account creation (self authentication) and login;
• Data storage and retrieval;
• Running demo applications against the Launcher API;
• A demo application enabling the hosting of SAFE websites;

At the request of the engineers this testing phase will not enable the community to run their own vaults at this point, rather they will be able to store and retrieve data via the demo application on our test network. This allows the client to be tested in a stable environment, one without churn (nodes leaving and joining the network). It also enables other projects that people are currently developing or wish to begin development on to progress as we progress, allowing everyone the opportunity to move forward together. The next phase after the development team are happy with the way the network is behaving in this stable environment will be to add churn into the mix and get the MVP into everyone's hands, enabling you to all run vaults from home. The team do not want to sign off on the MVP until this extensive round of testing has been completed and for this we need large scale participation from the community.

So a very exciting and manic week last week and more of the same this week; however, without being a party pooping spoil sport I think it is essential to set expectations. The MVP will initially come with a set of limitations; I am currently documenting these limitations and these shall be shared with everyone as documentation accompanying the actual release. The MVP will very much be a rolling release, with these limitations being crossed off the list with each software update, which at the outset will occur on a very frequent basis, driven by feature updates. Expect the network to be up and down, with software required to be updated and data stored on the network to be wiped during this community testing period. Initially this may not be for the faint-hearted and will require participants to closely follow updates from the team to stay on the latest network.

More decent progress this week - we have demonstrated the ability to create accounts, log in, get and put data, just without churn handling and NAT Traversal. So what do we have left to complete before the MVP is set free (and I can stop sounding like that broken record)?

NAT Traversal integration into Crust (allows for people behind different types of routers to connect with each other and not just rely on direct connections between nodes in the network);
Routing Integration with Refactored Crust;
Churn Handling in the Vault library (showcasing with Routing and Vault examples);
Completing the Launcher updates from the client libraries.

All of our energy and effort in the last few months has been focused upon delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) as quickly as possible. What will the MVP look like and what will you be able to do with it? The MVP will enable users to install the software and connect to the network from their computer, store and retrieve files, browse sites hosted on the SAFE Network and message other users.

Anyone here able to get me in touch with one of the project's key members?  I really would like to set up time to do a hangout with swarm's dev's and community.  Oddly, I received an anonymous message asking me to please reach out to you guys because your community was very aligned with how my personality and motivations (at least that is what this person thinks).  So I reached out to fractastical (the person this person told me to seek out) but I have not received a response.  So if anyone can help me please let me know.  I think I have some ways to help projects such as this because it comes from the same motivation as my work comes from.

        What type of encryption will Maidsafe be using?

        The only thing I could find is that it might be using RSA 4096 bit encryption.
       

This is pretty confusing, is there a beta version of this live yet? Can I use a low end pc with large storage space to farm?

We have continued to make steady progress on the plans we outlined a couple of weeks ago; we are very much on course to deliver the RUST-5 objectives and for community testing to begin.
