Another Pandacoin again?

This one has been around since February.

It's either one or the other.

couldn't we do a merge mined multipool? couldn't we enforce a percentage payout in PND for Doge miners? maybe in place of their pool fee?

The point of merged mining is to strengthen ones PoW network. Since that falls away when switching to PoS there's no point in having other people mine for us.

As for the fee - this is needed to rent the servers we are using.

Since pnd devs operate the doge/pnd multipool, it might be possible that we address merge mining there somehow.

It's either one or the other.

also ReddCoin has just released PoSV, it appears to be a new take on PoS, essentially encourages holding as well as transacting. Maybe the dev could look into it as we make the switch.

here is the white paper: http://www.reddcoin.com/papers/PoSV.pdf

Thanks for linking - I'm currently reading through it. I'm not sure if velocity of coins is the right thing to go for at the moment as our market position is quite weak.

To attract merchants I would believe that having a more established value is beneficial.

(@official-pnd: thepandacoin.net is currently down)

Yeah I've noticed this as well. It looks like the hosting provider we're using is down at the moment.

So If pos kicks in... I guess this below will be incorrect right?
Quote
Specifications
Symbol: PND
Algorithm: Scrypt
Premine: NONE! ZERO! 0%!
Block Rewards:
1 Minute Block Targets, KGW
Reward system:
50,000 per block until further notice on the possible implementation of PoS.

Early 2015 (approximately a year and a half after release) there will be approximately 100,000,000,000 coins.
Each subsequent block will grant 10,000 coins to encourage miners to continue to secure the network and make up for lost wallets on hard drives/phones/lost encryption passwords/etc.

Do you have a "updated specification" of this when were switching to POS?

like %rates.... how many will be minted in few years time etc...

The specs aren't set yet. We will update you as soon as they are.

How many Panda coins are there?

30 billion.

in future x11 on multipool?

It would make more sense to add coins using adaptive-n first.

It looks like we have a clear winner.

Depends on how the poll goes.

Might not be the best place to store a large amount of PoS Pandacoin PND but even then may be nice to have a web wallet service for many folks and for certain situations.
Our Pandacoin PND is rising in the votes https://mywl.lt/voting

What is Mywl.lt?

Mywl.lt has been the official, secure online wallet for Digitalcoin, Argentum, and Securecoin for the past 6 months. 0 security issues and 100% up-time have made us stand out from the crowd.

Other web wallets offer similar services, but don't be fooled into depositing your coins to a site that can't be trusted!

We require 2 Factor Authentication for all logins, and email confirmation to create an account. This means that you can still remain anonymous, but have a wonderfully secure online wallet where you can have access to your coins from anywhere you have internet!

You can see our security explanation here: Mywl.lt/security

Want to send coins to a friend? With Mywl.lt you can send funds to any other user using just their account name!

Each users account gets 5 votes every 12 hours, and guests can vote once every 12 hours. Alternatively you can buy votes by donating at a rate of 0.0002 BTC per vote.

So come on over to Mywl.lt/voting and vote for Zeitcoin today!

Less than 3 days till the first coin is chosen!

Thanks for posting this. Voted.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Profit switching pool for PND and DOGE - multi.pandapool.info on: April 28, 2014, 07:18:01 PM
Ah, that would make sense.
I'm sending from US-East.

It's not terrible, was just curious. Any future plans for US based servers?

We've been meaning to expand further but strong servers in the US are quite expensive.

We will look into worthwile offers once the API is done and the next UI updates have been pushed.

What kind of reject rates are you guys getting here?

I seem to be getting slightly higher than most other multipools - around 8-9%.

Thanks!

Might be because both servers are located in Europe. Where are you sending shares from?

Usually I'm getting around 1-1.2% rejects.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ASIC-RESISTANT] UltraCoin (UTC) - Ultrafast 6 second transactions!! on: April 27, 2014, 09:52:57 AM
Thanks again for the votes so far.

I think you meant MintPal

Done Voting cryptsy

PND has hit MintPal right after UTC, also thanks to combined efforts.

why cant i buy votes for panda with bitcoin? i only had 1 cryptsy point, it only got 5 votes though.

Probably because they haven't set up an address yet. Also see http://blog.cryptsy.com/post/80290983629/how-we-pick-coins-to-add-from-the-vote-list.

Remember when both the PND and UTC communities were voting for UTC on Cryptsy?

Today we're asking you to return this favor.

i thought i had alot of coin with my 16mil PND :__( now i just feel small

That is small amount, but if we can find a use for PND, it could worth a lot.

I mined over a billion coins, but sold most of it. I will still mine and sell until PND is useful.

The issue I'm seeing with selling coins right now is that it won't leave breath for people, or even the multipool for that matter, actually wanting to buy into the coin (Yes, those exist). As a result of a low price you're scaring away new miners as well.

A constant suppressed price won't help anyone to build faith in the currency. We need a certain level of price range and liquidity in order to give it usefulness for real applications.
