461  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: who would you trust? on: March 02, 2023, 07:29:30 AM
Still, I would suggest using escrow. Make sure the account you are dealing with is not hacked. If he shared any Bitcoin address before, Ask him to sign a message. Even with escrow, there were a lot of big scams that happened. So, you always have to be careful.
We have had the escrow being an alternate account of the party and scamming the other party. Although those who are running a business of escrow for years and are trusted by their local members can be approached for a trade escrow. It would be better if trades are done outside the forum where the app mediates the escrow  by selected people without anybody knowing who is who.
If this continues, we must understand that there is something wrong with the escrow. If a trusted escrow wants to continue to do business here, they won't cheat with parties. I don't know the specific case you are talking about. If he did that and the community caught him, did he pay anything to the client? Or he just ran away with the money?

A few reputed escrow services have been there for a couple of years. People like me won't hesitate to trust them because they earned it. If I get cheated, even though I am dealing with an escrow service, there is no other way to go outside this forum. Recently I saw an escrow service website developing their website and wanted feedback from the Bitcointalk community. Such a service will be famous if something wrong happens again with the in-forum escrow service.
462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Altcoin hold, sell or trade?? on: March 02, 2023, 07:19:06 AM
You got it, right, buddy?
If you want to HODL, I would suggest Only Bitcoin. Most altcoins create pumps for the short term. The dev team spends money on marketing to pump it more. People keep buying when they see that they have touched their target price. The dev team increased the coin supply, and the coin star lost value daily. This is pretty much a scam, in my opinion. So, I won't suggest altcoins to hold.

You can trade with altcoins. Altcoins are too much volatile. It gained price so fast and went down quicker than that. So, if you want to trade with altcoins, you can do so. If you want to HOLD Crypto long-term, there is no coin except BTC.

464  Other / Meta / Re: Sleazy sex link sent to my pm on: March 01, 2023, 01:02:46 PM
Not sure if I was only target.

It's possible, man. Due to your massive activity on the forum and WO, you are not anonymous. People know your email and probably know your address. Most important, they know that you are a Bitcoin Miner. Since you are a miner and early adopter of Bitcoin, they may expect that you have vast amounts of money in your Bitcoin wallet, and they want to target you with phishing links or a kind of trojan or whatever virus.

I guess it's not just an advertisement. People use social media or messengers like Telegram to spread their content. I don't think people will use forum accounts just for advertising. You were a target; I am glad you did not fall for that.

Suggest to others: You don't have to check the link.
465  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ban member GodsOfSolana? on: March 01, 2023, 12:50:01 PM
I guess Mods already deleted their posts. Three posts remained, and all of them were the same. Since forum rules do not forbid selling forum accounts, it isn't worth banning. I heard that even Bitcointalk Mods bought and sold forum accounts in the early days. But, when scammers started scamming using purchased forum accounts, DT members started tagging them. I guess you already know that.

But my question is, what will people do with such newbie forum accounts? Anyone can create an account with an email, and it's free. If trolls and scammers want to return after getting banned, they can pay evil fees and return with a brand new account.
466  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Emotion and Trade? on: March 01, 2023, 11:48:57 AM
Emotion and Greediness are both harmful to traders. But, Both are part of human nature. You have to control yourself from emotions and Greediness. These two things can make you lose. Suppose you are at a loss; your feelings will force you to trade more in the hope of recovering the loss, even if you know that you might lose again. You have to control it and do research before you open another position.

Even if you are at a profit, greed will force you to open another position like before, in which you made some profits. You have to understand that the same strategy doesn't work all the time, and if you are a trader, you already know that.

So, I would say, You have to have control over your two human nature; Emotions and Greediness. Rest depends on skills.

You can always suggest them to try training mode with demo balance before they start trading with real money.

Of course we should do so, but if we think that it is enough and knowing that majority of newbies will hardly follow the advice will stop on that will it be good advice?
It's not bad advice, either. Sometimes we have to be more thick-skinned like LoyceV. It's like we did what we had to do. After that, if they do not follow the instruction and lose their money. You have no fault. But, when you they will see that there was a training mode and you didn't suggest them because you thought they wouldn't follow you. They will make your suggestion questionable.

Quote
As I said we should also inform that even experienced traders lose and that nearly 100% every newbie will lose very fast so after they try training mode they still shouldn't play with big money. For very long time they should play not more than with amount they are ready to spend on entertainment as highly likely they'll lose it all! It's not about to recommend training mode or not, it's about to recommend it and recommend not to risk their savings after that anyway.

You got a good point here, and I agree with you. They can try with the money they are ready to spend on entertainment. Buddy, we are talking about newbies. I already shared what I had to say.

People were talking about banning Bitcoin in the United States.
Well, Here is some good news from Bitcoin Magazine.

The United States has no intention to ban #Bitcoin and crypto - Treasury Secretary

This lady has my respect.

Watch this video on Twitter - https://twitter.com/BitcoinMagazine/status/1629834253503717376?s=20.

They say they have no intention but they know even if they wanted to, they couldn't ban Bitcoin

I'd say the exact same thing as an official if i plan to "regulate" Bitcoin (and Crypto) through KYC (and worse) and tax the shit out of sellers (even hodlers, in the worst case).
People are already compromising their Privacy on Exchanges. Look at this image, please.

This is the last 24h BTC trading volume. Only 0.0237% of trades are on Decentralized exchanges. If I am not wrong, the rest happen on centralized exchanges, and people are doing it, buddy. If the government wants to regulate Bitcoin, It's scary for us. But, Do you believe it's possible to regulate? I think regulating anything on the internet is not easy, especially for Bitcoin. Hodlers are safe, in my opinion.

EDIT: For those wondering about my unusual low posting rate, i got a job in an electronics B2B company for a couple of weeks.

Congratulations!
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 28, 2023, 05:01:17 PM
I just checked score this morning and for my surprise Newzealand has won the match. What a come back by Newzealand in there follow on innings. Must have been a 3 match series as now the series ended in a draw. There are not many matches in which a side having follow on fought back and won the match. England was unlucky to lose the match by just one run. You are lucky to watch such interesting match live.

Ahaha. Me as well. I didn't watch a single bowl.
When I see that New Zealand was on Follow On, I was wondering what happened there. I am not sure if it's ever happened in cricket history or not. England Scored 435 in the first innings, and it was a good total. Root and Harry Brook together scored 339 Runs. The other nine batters added only 96 runs to their scoreboard. So, I will say England Failed in their first innings as well. Root and harry Brook did good batting in the first innings doesn't mean that they will score well in 2nd innings as well.

It was a bad call from England's Captain to ask New Zealand for follow on. They thought the pitch is getting harder and they will get the benefits. This time five batters from New Zealand played well and set a good target for them. Who knows that England won't be able to score 258 after the good first innings? Is this karma?
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What If There Is A Ban on: February 28, 2023, 04:51:10 PM
Well, I discussed this on WO a few days ago. While we all talked about banning Bitcoin in the United States, There is an official statement from the Treasury Secretary[1]. I see this as a positive thing. While everyone was talking about the ban, they had a choice not to say anything about this matter. But they showed up and said nope, we will not ban bitcoin. Don't spread the FUD, kiddos.

Banning Bitcoin will affect the market slightly, and we may see a short bear market. But it won't last. I saw a quote on the internet, Everyone says Congratulations when you get pregnant. But they don't know how many times you got fucked for this. There were many regulations and ban/ban games. Still, BTC is here today.

You don't have to be the best trader to start trading. Right?
You have to know how to trade and where to trade. I am not talking about bot trading here. I don't suggest bot trading as it won't help you to learn trades. I do not agree that you must lose your money to learn to trade, and it will teach you the best lesson. If you are a billionaire, that's a different case. But, On an online platform, You shouldn't suggest such things.

Surely demo balance and demo trades help newbies how to do it. Even some casinos offer demo tokens to test their games. Some of them offer faucets for their games. Did you see when a new medicine invent, researchers never test them on a human at the beginning? They try it on other animals first. You don't have to lose to learn something. I respect your opinion. But, I don't agree with you.

Of course you are right, it is much better to learn in a training version of an exchange, but how many people will do so? Maybe couple of hours or days and it is definitely not enough to be experienced trader but then they'll anyway start trading at a real market, in majority. So IMO we should not only give advice for in case of an ideal situation, but for as they'll more likely will do. And IMO it is good to say them to use not more money for trading than they are ready to spend on entertainment, because they'll lose their deposit in 99,9% cases very soon. And even after that a majority of them will hardly use a a training version for long enough.

Sometimes we don't have to say or suggest everything to others. Even though we know that they will try the demo mode for a couple of hours only and then leave it. They will start trading with real money. But as wise people, we shouldn't suggest they start trading with real money on Day 1. When will they be veterans at some point and understand everything, they will there was a guy named joker10. He suggested start trading with real money even though there was a option to learn in demo modes. I believe you don't want to find yourself there.

Sometimes we know that scammers like 1xcrap won't stop doing their shitty business. Doesn't mean we won't ask them to stop or we won't ask signature participants to not promote them. Whoever want to promote them, they will do it even if they get tagged or whatever you do to them. They will continue.

No matter if they use the training version or not. You can always suggest them to try training mode with demo balance before they start trading with real money.

if he is ready to risk everything ? then why not right? but the problem here is that how could you trade if you have no idea at all mate and for God sake this is our money that needs to be earn or gone then why not? better to try using Trading Bot first before bringing your money inside mate this is how we can save our money since in the end? we will be the loser here if not be careful .

Why not learn how to trade before he starts with real money?
Currently, many platforms offer demo balance to start trading as a demo and learn how to trade. Even Bot won't be able to make a profit for you if you cannot instruct what to do. Right? I won't suggest anyone risk his everything even if he wants to risk it. Sometimes people make decisions out of frustration.

Sometimes we gamble in casinos and place max bet in the hope of winning the bet. After the session, we realized that was our biggest mistake. Sometimes luck prefers, and you can win the bet. But, The chances are not 100%. This is not how we should suggest people risk their money even if they are ready to spend it.

As I said before, Trading is not rocket science. You don't have to spend years learning it. Just spend a few weeks/months, and you will know how to do it. Then start with real money.
Bot or free trading demo will not help us becoming best trader instead we need to lose and spend our money first as this will be your teacher to not do the same mistake again and again.
though it is best interest of all new traders to learn with safeties but the thing here is that trading is an area in which all of us need to risk before earning.

You don't have to be the best trader to start trading. Right?

474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: btc network after last halving on: February 27, 2023, 04:29:19 PM
When the btc mining process is over, how will the network remain secure as the computational power ceases to exist?

Still, a long way to go. More precisely, Somewhat 117 Years (+/-). Look at the picture below. I found it from the WO thread.

Here is a fun fact shared by hisslyness
Last Full Bitcoin to be added to the network will take approx 34 years (Approx. Block 5,168,390 -> Last Reward Block)
Max Coin Generated is 20,999,999.97690000 (rounding)

I don't know how the network remains secure after the end of the mining process. But, I believe mining is not going to end. They will get the transaction fees that we spend. A couple of satoshis will be worth a lot (I hope). I am not an expert on it. All I am saying is from my assumption.

some people out there always think that Bitcoin is the shortcut of getting rich when you invest in Bitcoin,

Some people might think after hearing the success stories of early adopters. But, It is not. It is an alternative to your shady bank account wallet with more security and privacy. It has some advantages and disadvantages as well. Before you buy Bitcoin, You should know what the advantages and what are disadvantages are.

because if bitcoin were the shortest root to solve financial problems many people would have be out of financial issues. What's your take on these?. I know that what have advantages still have disadvantages, hoping with Bitcoin to survive can cause delay on some of our opportunities,

Exactly. This is not the shortest way. They have the wrong idea.
The primary and only disadvantage of Bitcoin is it's incredibly volatile. If you want to keep bitcoin for the short term, you must be aware that you may have to sell it for a loss if you need urgent cash and touch your bitcoins. But, You will make a good profit if you hold it long-term.

Well, Banning anything on the internet doesn't work correctly.
There are tons of ways you can use it by bypassing the ban.
They said they had no intention. But, What if they say they will ban Bitcoin even though they cannot?
The market will be influenced a little. People will start spreading FUD, and we might see a short-bear market again.

I appreciate that they don't want to do the wrong things, and when people spread FUD that The United States might ban Bitcoin, They showed up and said, Hey, Kiddos. Don't spread FUD. We are not going to ban Bitcoin. They had the choice not to say anything while people were talking about the ban. But, They did. I see this as a positive thing.

Why so savage?
This was an educational Giveaway, and this game was in Beginners and help section. Why does he have to start the competition in the gambling section? Participants don't have to place bets with their bitcoin. They have to guess a number, and that's it.

I saw a lot of controversies about your personality. Some people accused you of being rude and writing unnecessary walls of text. But, honestly, I didn't follow your posts before today. Calm down, dude.

Really? Was it theymos? Please refer to any thread or source where I can find more information. I am a bit curious about it.

instead of praising that move as without those early adopters who were willing to buy/sell bitcoin we probably wouldn't be here today. I mean, what would be the point of bitcoin if people just mined it and never use for anything?

I agree with you. It looks like an incident right now, but we wouldn't be here without those moves. Someone has to do the transaction to buy/sell goods. I don't know if this one was the first-ever transaction. But, indeed, this one lets everyone know that it has value and you can also sell it. We don't know how long bitcoin will be there and how much it will be worth after a few decades.

Imagine you spend a whole Bitcoin on a gambling website, and you lose it. After a few decades, you are telling the story to your grandson. Bitcoin is worth a million or more at that time, and he will think the same. He will say you made mistakes by gambling the Bitcoin, and it will also look like an incident.
