461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DEA Agents in Silk Road Case Face Fraud Charges on: March 31, 2015, 06:14:55 AM
Those DEA agents had no right to take that money. That was money the U.S. government could have used for police/military gear and police/military salaries to uphold freedom in the only free and great country on Earth, and also to uphold American freedom by setting up military bases all over the world. This gives the American government no choice but to print more money or to declare more things illegal so that more money can be rightfully stolen.

Team America! Fuck yeah!

any chance this would give ulbricht a window to climb out?

Sadly there is about as much chance of Ross seeing freedom in his lifetime as there is Chelsea Manning. Zero percent.   Sad
Sorry dude - you are wrong.  It fucks the whole case up once you know the prosecutors team is lying.  He might get a walk if this gets too ugly.

Here is the complaint against their own Federal Agents: http://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/opa/press-releases/attachments/2015/03/30/criminal_complaint_force.pdf

"Carl Mark Force IV" - pretty cool name.  Maybe even cooler than: "Dread Pirate Roberts"

Yes.  Prosecutorial misconduct.  It can have VERY far reaching implications.  Now, the prosecution is easily shown to have reason to lie.  About this - and other things.  This is VERY good for Ross.  I am pretty sure his attorney will be asking for a retrial by the end of the week.
464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Web Wallet vs. Local Wallet on: March 30, 2015, 11:45:25 AM
i suggest you to have a look on Electrum..  Wink   you probably going to like it  Grin
Where is the private key stored on Electrum?

465  Other / Beginners & Help / Web Wallet vs. Local Wallet on: March 30, 2015, 09:22:42 AM
I see everyone saying: "Don't use web wallets!!".  It looks like some people get hacked at Blockchain.info for example.

OK - fine.  So use the miserable BitcoinQt instead.  But where does bitcoinQt store the private keys?  Isn't it just is some local .dat file?  Why can't a hacker easily find that file and copy my private keys?

It is hard to understand exactly where the private key is kept in each system.

For example:
Armorykey in local .dat file
BitcoinQtkey in local .dat file
Blockchain.infokey in local file; encrypted key sent over Internet
Android wallet Schildbachkey in Huh
AirBitzHuh?

466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2/3 of All Bitcoin Mined! on: March 29, 2015, 10:54:21 AM
Holy shit Batman!  We are running out of Bitcoin already?  I haven't even got my miner from KnC yet.

By a remarkable coincidence, we're also almost 2/3 of the way between the first and second halving events.
Also, in nearly every type of counting system, '2' comes just before '3'.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin payroll debit card launched by Bitwage and Xapo on: March 27, 2015, 05:49:58 PM
dude i been waiting like 6 months for my card, I bet this is another try to get people to use there wallet scam again.  They are using the Media to get people to use there wallets plus they want you to verify your identity on there as well.

Exactly.  They love announcing stuff and pumping the hell out of the press - and then changing the subject to their stupid fort knox storage.  Who the hell needs fort knox storage.  Dumbest idea yet.  Still no bitcoin debit card which was promised many moons ago.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Brilliant journalists will explain Bitcoin to the public so they will get it... on: March 26, 2015, 05:35:00 PM
"There is rightly a huge fear of double spending in the Cryptocurrency sector. What this means, is that a user can spend the same coins twice, or more. A very commonly held view is that if you can double spend digital currency (spend the same coins in store A, then store B, store C, and so on), then that particular system is broken. As this would very likely cause hyperinflation and make the coins in that system worthless if the same coins can repeatedly used in this manner."

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-1-banks-0-bank-canada-facing-prosecution/

Holy fuck!  What a bunch of idiots.  I love this part: "A very commonly held view is that if you can double spend digital currency (spend the same coins in store A, then store B, store C, and so on), then that particular system is broken"

lol!  That one gets me rolling.  Smiley

I think it is going to be a long time before people begin to understand Bitcoin.  Journalists like these will fuck up the explanation over and over again for about the next 10 years.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Where to start-up? on: March 25, 2015, 10:05:03 AM
In five years from now, New York politicians are going to make some nice concessions - 'to attract bitcoin professionals'.  They will say to each other: "Why did London set up 10 times more bitcoin business than New York?"

Here is the answer: http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/18/us-britain-budget-digital-currencies-idUSKBN0ME1XD20150318

Jack-booted arrogant asshole thugs who think they control the world like Ben Lawsky want to know everything about you - including what color your wife's underwear are - before they'll let you operate in their state.  So everyone left.

Don't believe me?  Just ask Andreas Antonopoulos who stated clearly in his MIT lecture: 'they already left NY'.  Ben Lawsky will go down in history for triggering the avalanche that caused NY to lose the banking sector.   This prediction probably seems somewhat 'over-the-top' today.  I'll bet you a bitcoin it won't 10 years from now.

It is about time those Guido thieves in New York lose their stranglehold on people's money.  Good riddance to them.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do freshly mined bitcoins look like? on: March 22, 2015, 08:49:51 AM
I was the first one to give a complete answer.  You asked for a complete answer.  I delivered

You are mistaken.

You failed to answer the second part of his second question.

Specifically he asked:

Are they just in one address without a trail to it?

And your answer does not explain that an address can at the same time have both freshly mined coins AND old coins that have a long chain of transactions leading to them.

Here's your answer to that question:

2) Fresh bitcoin has no previous ownership

Therefore, I personally would not consider your answer to be the "first one to give a complete answer".

The OP will need to decide if your answer was sufficient for his needs, but he may need to give the bitcoins to someone that answered after you.
My answer is perfect and clear.  What don't you like about it?

OP is a tramp and he owes me money.
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do freshly mined bitcoins look like? on: March 21, 2015, 06:01:16 PM
There are a lot of good answers, I didn't expect so many. I would prefer to donate the $15 to an address proposed here (good cause or something), is this ok?

No Way!!  I was the first one to give a complete answer.  You asked for a complete answer.  I delivered only because I thought you'd be honest and give the money that you promised.  Bitcoin promises - huh!  Now, after the fact, you want to re-allocate the reward?  That is fraud.  Bullshit fraud.  You, like so many other bitcoiners are purely a scammer.  Don't bother starting a business you are not qualified as you are another dishonest scammer.  So typical in the bitcoin community.  Scam, scam, scam.  Why does bitcoin attract such scum?

You should ask the first person that gave you a satisfactory answer if they would prefer to receive the bitcoins, or if they would be willing to donate them.  Based on the commitment you made when you started this thread, the bitcoins belong to them, and it isn't right for you to steal their bitcoins and give them away.
Totally true.  Some people have no concept of ethics at all.  Danny does.  The bitcoin community is very short on people with ethics.

Now give me my $15!
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do freshly mined bitcoins look like? on: March 21, 2015, 04:12:39 PM
I have a couple of questions about freshly-mined bitcoins:
If someone provides a complete answer I will tip him $15

1) Can someone explain to me how to check if a bitcoin address contains only fresh mined bitcoins?

2) Fresh bitcoins don't have any previous ownership? Are they just in one address without a trail to it?

3) Do pools give out only bitcoins from the bitcoin reward or you can expect to get bitcoins which have been mined some time before?

4) Can someone provide an example address which contains fresh bitcoins?

Thank you!

1)  Here you go you flipping kook - https://blockchain.info/address/1AtVbqjhsxrif6nTd1HSPD1niq8ym9ZPM2 .  See where it says 'no inputs'.  This indicates fresh virginal bitcoins.  You check by looking on blockchain.info for the list of transactions and finding that marking.
2) Fresh bitcoin has no previous ownership
3) some pools give out bitcoins from fees which would have some trail prior
4) 1AtVbqjhsxrif6nTd1HSPD1niq8ym9ZPM2

Now give me my $15!  Send my $15 here: 1KXvssUrXyRBrY7gPryeMTwvvXND5zZisw

Browser plugins? Flip shit. I go crazy installing random plug ins
I know right?  Every time I see: "do you want to install xxxxx plugin?" all I see is: "would you like to send naked pictures of your famous wife to TMZ?"  How can you trust ANY plugin?  They all are trying to get your keys.
475  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info - where are the private keys? on: February 23, 2015, 03:00:45 PM
So when I 'import' an address, I have to put my private key into a textbox.  Does this private key leave my machine and go out on the Internet?

Yes, but as long as blockchain.info is working properly it should be encrypted before it is sent out.

Blockchain clearly says they don't keep private keys.

Where does it say that?  I'm nearly certain that blockchain.info stores all the private keys in encrypted form.

So where does this private key 'live' after I import an address into Blockchain.info wallet?

Unless they've changed their service recently (and I don't think they have), the private key is encrypted with your password in your browser, then the encrypted private key is sent to their servers where it is stored in their database.

Whenever you want to spend any bitcoins that require that private key, the encrypted form of it is sent from their database back to your browser where it is decrypted with your password and used to create the transaction.

So if they keep private keys (in encrypted form), why haven't they been hacked.  It seems like they'd have a shitload of keys and after someone got those they'd have very little trouble 'guessing' passwords against them.  Are you sure they keep private keys in their database?  Seems like a very big target to me.

Looks like this guy is trying to patent Bitcoin marketplaces http://www.pat2pdf.org/patents/pat20150039470.pdf

How do you feel about Bitcoin patents?

Does anyone know Richard Crites?

Of course, the folks (David Irvine) over at MaidSafe are long-time patenters and today have a new one: http://appft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.html&r=5&f=G&l=50&d=PG01&p=1&S1=bitcoin.BIS.&OS=spec/bitcoin&RS=SPEC/bitcoin

The first mention of 'bitcoin' in any US patent: http://www.pat2pdf.org/patents/pat8449378.pdf

I purposely changed the title to garner more eyeballs to this thread. I also edited the OP to reflect such. Still seeking input, thanking you folks in advance.
Next thing you know, you'll be calling Andreesen a pedo.  We all have seen how you work you nutjob.  How about giving your keyboard a well needed rest.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Actual transfer fees? on: December 27, 2014, 04:49:50 PM
Hey,
Just trying to figure out what the transfer fees would be for a range of sums ranging from $1000-$100,000 USD (i.e. 3.18-318.22 BTC) from wallet>wallet.

What would the lowest/highest possible fees be (or worst case/best case if you want to call it that)?

Thanks.

(I did try and google this using a range of keywords but couldn't find a concrete answer)

Lowest fee is ZERO (presently, fees less than zero are not allowed by the bitcoin protocol) for $100,000.

You can chose whatever fee you like higher than zero to improve the time (reduce) your transaction will confirm.  Pretty simple!

If you'd like your transaction to confirm in a short time, I'd recommend at least .0001 fee.

480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia on: December 08, 2014, 05:18:47 PM
Please do not donate to this unsophisticated ancient website.

Any respectable modern website would recognize modern convenient means of donation.  I'll tell you what Wikipedia, if you publish your address, I'll send you a check.  Remember checks?  LOL!!  Morons.

you do realize they allow bitcoin donations, right?
That might be true, but they build their donation page as if they don't.  So in effect, they don't.  In other words, their user interface if very bitcoin unfriendly - even if they will accept bitcoin in some other medium.  They need a QR code on that page or people can easily donate in bitcoin without searching around for 30 minutes.  I am giving nothing.

Lol, seriously? They accept it and that's good enough. What do you want? A massive flashing bitcoin logo on their homescreen? Something tells me you wouldn't actually donate to wikipedia anyway so it's probably irrelevant.
What?  Are you stupid?  If it is very hard to use and to find the donation page buried deep in some tree structure with shitty interfaces, which don't work - you still say 'they accept bitcoin'?  Nobody will use bitcoin if it isn't easy to use and promenantly displayed.  fuck Wikipedia - most of that site is all trash anyway.  Don't donate.  Maybe we can choke them off and a new site will come along.
