461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What ugly incident or occurrence have you ever experienced in gambling? on: January 12, 2024, 05:03:26 PM
MY experience is almost similar to this incident that happened to the south African guy. I wanted to place a bet on Virtual and my intention was to stake a good amount of money about 25k in naira just on a single bet. It was in a local betting shop, so i was waiting for my turn to tea h so i could tell the attendant the game to play. 3 minutes left to the game i was calling them out for the attendant unfortunately the time elapse and i the game was unable to bet. Right before my eyes i watched the game played exactly the way i predict it.

If i had won the game i would have been having about 210,00k in naira. I almost cried that day. Because the money was a huge sum of money to me as at then. The only difference between my experience and that of the south African guy was that he lost his Capital as well in the bet.
462  Economy / Economics / Re: How to stay poor! on: January 12, 2024, 04:50:00 PM
nice. this should be what is sent to those big names on Wall Street guys. they have a lot to learn in becoming poor. if they are just doing their best to become poor, they wouldn't have to struggle to spend their money. they are so incompetent in doing it. i would be glad to really help them for free by following OP's tips. i would suggest being the first to get a loan from anyone who wants to be poor and later sign an agreement to void the loan.
Yoh... Honestly I'm being really cracked up right now, who in the world will want to get poor. For real most people won't say it out but their actions says more of what they choose to become.

I don't know if being poor comes with specific benefits, then if not why do people keep living the lifestyle at which OP mentioned, could it be they are tied to limited knowledge.

Being poor doesn't come with any specific benefit. OP took time to highlight things that could lead a productive person and hard-working person to remain poor. To be sincere what he had said so far should be taken into consideration. If we consider the nature of our economy, we see that the cost of things is going so high. This advice goes to individuals who are not yet financially buoyant and are struggling to start a good paying job or a business. Now is the time to avoid unnecessary expenses and focus on achieving that business that will take us out of poverty.

If you calculate the money spent on drinks, parties, uninvited events and unnecessary gatherings. It's enough to starts business if we saved them simultaneouslyh in the long run.

463  Economy / Economics / Re: If you are investing in the stock market, coinbase is good to invest in now! on: January 11, 2024, 10:21:00 AM
However, out of the 11 Bitcoin ETF that was approved. About 6 uses Coinbase as a custodian wallet. This is why there will be increase in the price of Coinbase in the stock market as there will be a substantial amount of Bitcoin going into Coinbase soon.

6 uses Coinbase as their custodia wallet. This is just a start, and Coinbase is among the biggest exchanges they can trust for the moment, but after this approval and things start getting more interesting, more revenue is supposed to be pumping in as their investors demand will increase. Do you think they will continue to use Coinbase as their custodia wallet?

I believe there have been some sort of contract agreement between Coinbase and each of those approved ETF. With that, there is a period of which the contract would stay before it ends. If before it expires they have made plans to get a their own security wallet. Then that is a good thing as investors would trust them more since they are in charge of holding the funds.

However, out of the 11 Bitcoin ETF that was approved. About 6 uses Coinbase as a custodian wallet. This is why there will be increase in the price of Coinbase in the stock market as there will be a substantial amount of Bitcoin going into Coinbase soon.

What do you think will stop them from having their own private wallet for reserve, or is there anything on the approval that will restrict them from having their backup bitcoin held by them, like creating a multi-signature wallet and keeping all their ratios, or does Coinbase provide some form of insurance for the funds that they store with them? I'm just asking, as there might be some sort of rule to follow for the 1:1 ratio as per what they are to offer to trade in the stock market.
Coinbase has proven they can secure large amount of funds. And they believe they have higher security measures since they have been in the business for long. One hindrance for the ETF to have their own private wallet should be security. How certain they can provide maximum security for the amount of Bitcoin that would be in that wallet? This is blockchain and this companies are new to providing blockchain services to their investors. Which we know that Bitcoin is the first. To avoid hacks and theft let them focus on using Coinbase for now until they are capabole of haveing their own security wallet.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 11, 2024, 10:00:43 AM
Male or Female someone who is going to be a better and responsible gambler would be. Gender characteristics cannot be used to identity a better gambler. There are lots of men who are good and responsible gamblers. They know how to manage risk, especially managing their funds and to know when to quit. And there are also terrible male gamblers. This same thing goes for women in gambling. There are responsible and irresponsible women in gambling. It all depends on the individual. If they choose to gamble wisely or not.

After all we have less population of women i gambling. So by statistics we have more better male gamblers than female.

465  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is school really a scam? on: January 11, 2024, 09:42:10 AM
I knew when people started school na scam is when the so-called yahoo (cybercrime or fraud) started. So, a lot of persons who got their hands into it earlier become rich and famous, so this made so many students to go into it and usual they got money from it. Before you know people especially student started to have the thought that what is the essence of school if you can become rich just by pressing your devices and defrauding people of their hard-earned money.

IMO school is not a scam. Now this is my point. School is a place for education and for us to be in school we have to choose a discipline of which we will focus our attention on. But this is not the only thing we learn while we are in school. Discipline is the educational part of going to school. School affects us both in moral religious, financial, economic and social part of our life.

The people saying school na scam. If they can't read and write and know how to keep healthy intelligent conversations will they be successful in the yahoo or whatever they are doing. The little knowledge they have been able to grab while in school have helped them to be successful in what they are doing. School is a place for opportunities buddy, a place for making concrete collaboration, business partners and build a fan base. The school environment is one of those places that you can showcase your talent and so many persons would appreciate and support you.

OP, do you know that, if someone is going to apply for a job. Even if the job is a mini job, they do specify that the applicant should be a graduate and have completed NYSC. Now the world is going to the era, that if you do not have the least certificate, you will find it difficult to get a job even if it is working for someone. People know that the population of graduate without employment is high so they would rather choose a graduate for any positions and those who just finished SSSC will stand a lower chance to get opportunities.
I believe i have given you enough points to make you understand the importance of education and going to school in the society.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Look out for a good Altcoin and buy now! on: January 11, 2024, 03:13:28 AM
Bitcoin ETF has been approved which is a good new for other Altcoin as well. As we all know, since Bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrencies if there is a significant increase in the price of Bitcoin it will also affect the price of other cryptocurrencies. For instance if by the end of the year Bitcoin hit the target of $100k definelty other altcoins will experince a huge increase in their price. Bitcoin bull run is as well altcoin bull run.

My candid advises to people who do not have the opportunity to buy bitcoin, is to find an altcoin that they can buy and hodl. If it is difficult to know which altcoin to buy, then I'll just list a few here i think i can spend some bucks on. They include Solana, Ethereum, BnB and Doge.

Let's put some effort and hope for the best to happen.
467  Economy / Economics / If you are investing in the stock market, coinbase is good to invest in now! on: January 11, 2024, 03:02:06 AM
Yes, if you are an investor that loves investing in the stock market. This is a good time to buy the Coinbase stock inside the stock exchange market. We are going to see the Coinbase stock price go high soon, and this is because all those ETF that were approved by the SEC cannot hold the bitcoin. Since the SEC said if an investor invest x amount of Bitcoin in any ETF the ETF should be able to hold exactly x amount in a secured wallet for the investor.

However, out of the 11 Bitcoin ETF that was approved. About 6 uses Coinbase as a custodian wallet. This is why there will be increase in the price of Coinbase in the stock market as there will be a substantial amount of Bitcoin going into Coinbase soon.

What are thoughts as well?

469  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 10, 2024, 09:49:15 PM
Tomorrow will be the day of the days.  Wink
I'm expecting an approval but anything can happen...

Wow, if the approval will be possible by tomorrow, it will be a great news for Bitcoin enthusiast. But you have to be prepared for any outcome tomorrow. Because the approval is a probability and not an assurance. Although the probability rate of approval to disapproval is 70:30.

Also, Bitcoin went down to $45k within yesterday and today. What are your thought on this? Do you think it is because of the Bitcoin ETF approval announcement? Am curious to know. Because earlier today i saw a tweet that 500 BTC was transferred from unknown wallet to coinbase.

470  Economy / Speculation / Re: Heading into 2024 crypto year: what are your hopes and fears? on: January 10, 2024, 09:04:33 PM
My hopes for 2024 are extremely high. I have managed to acquire some good amount of Bitcoin last year. Now i am expecting good news starting from the announcement of approving the Bitcoin ETF to the when the Bitcoin halving will start and end. Since i have heard there are so many good fortunes that would come if this two things happen this year.

Obviously, any old bitcoin investor will be very happy to see that the price of Bitcoin goes higher more than it has been. Currently at 47k plus is a good start in the beginning of the year. Definitely we believe that the price would be higher very soon and it will surpass its all-time high before the end of the year.

Actually, my greatest fear is that if the Bitcoin ETF is being approved. Let it bring about a positive influence on the price of Bitcoin and not a negative influence. I am talking about Bitcoin specifically because i have only bitcoin in my portfolio.
471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 10, 2024, 06:47:25 PM
If Chelsea is losing this match, there is a problem. I don't care if it's a cup match or not. Chelsea should have won this match. It is obvious that there are problems in the goal path. Alarms are ringing in Chelsea after losing to a team from a lower league. Now it is necessary to seriously question why the players play like this.
I was also quite surprised when Chelsea lost to a team like that in the EFL Cup, because it is very unlikely that Chelsea would not consider that match to be important. Moreover, the opponent also came from a lower league so it was appropriate for Chelsea not to lose, but in reality it was very unexpected and it was completely beyond my reasoning. Because Chelsea usually often faces teams that are stronger than Middlesbrough in the Premier League.
Chelsea's performance since last season has been nothing to write home about, their pre-season was so good this season that everybody thought they were going to really compete for the tittle this season, but the reverse is the case, they have instead performed poorly to the extent they are now contemplating on changing their new coach that hasn't stayed for upto a season,It will be so sad if Chelsea should sack him because everybody loves him,he did so well while he was at Totthenham, but the problem was that he didn't win any trophy at Totthenham, but we hope his time at Chelsea shouldn't be thesame with when he was at Totthenham.
Every time i remember about Chelseas defeat i feel so disappointed at them. However, am not a Chelsea Fan but am more concerned because in my country Chelsea has the highest number of Fans. So, we always hear so many bragging how good they are and how they are the best club in England. When Arsenal lost to Liverpool, Chelsea all over the internet were battling the Arsenal Fans. But look who they lost to. A relegation club defeat them.

I can't wait for the EPL games to start i want to see the outcome of all the team. Now Manchester City is fully back i believe they will be a threat to Liverpool and Arsenal for the title race. I guess Cheslea can't be talking about the title because they are no title contenders. With their current perfromance it will take them 3 to 4 seasons to recover from their demise.
472  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: January 09, 2024, 10:20:12 PM
Even though there is some inflation adjusted truth to what Greyhats is saying, I personally don't get that excited by those kinds of inflation adjusted assessments that suggest that we have to move the ATH even higher in order to "really have an ATH."  But then again, I tend to not really want to get too maniacally focused on tops anyhow, because if we are in bitcoin for the long term, sure we can start to shave off some of our BTC profits at various top prices, but if we are largely holding the vast majority of our BTC, then the value of our holdings will continue to go up with the passage of time, especially if we consider something like the 200-week moving average, which has never failed to go u, even if it has periods of time in which it is going up faster or slower, yet even now it is over $30k.
Around 2017 the price of Bitcoin was around the $19k range, getting to 2021 just after the Bitcoin halving that happened 2020 the price hits the $64k mark and extended further in November of same 2021 making Bitcoin highest All Time High of $69K, I think there is every tendency of surpassing the $100k price not even including the latest ETF UPDATES circulating, won't stage on that cause it's not yet decided

Well, if you want to go down memory lane in regards to BTC spot prices, it seems equally valid to me to go down the road of the 200-week moving average. This is what the 200-week moving average looks like, every two years.**

In late 2015 it was:  $252

In late 2017 it was:  $1,049

In late 2019 it was:  $4,908

In late 2021 it was:  $17,839

In late 2023 it was:  $29,049

**Note: you can see more years for 200-week moving average on a every six month's basis here.

Even though you can also compare spot price to the 200-week moving average (and most times spot price is above the 200-week moving average, except most recently between about mid 2022 until October 2023, we spent a lot of time below the 200-week moving average), I personally believe the 200-week moving average is a much better way to evaluate the value of your bitcoins.
Are you serious. I just confirmed and it is absolutely through JJG. Does it mean Bitcoin follows a certain pattern at some intervals? And if we are to jump into buying or selling whenever we come across these patterns, is it the right to do?

I think pattern exist. And it might be traders who make this pattern exist and occurs at the right point in time. The reason why it happens that way is because traders choose to buy and sell accordingly to that same pattern making it to actually exist every year or any interval it happens.
473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woes of gambling on: January 09, 2024, 09:21:56 PM
Take casino games for example especially jackpot casino games there is no way you can tell me that all of them are structured in such a way that they randomly always make money for the house if you ask me gambling is a fraud that has been used to trick people into believing that their choices matter it does not everyone that gambles is just there to make money for the casino unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about human nature 💔💔💔
Your tone is that of someone with a very bad experience in gambling. Just that I don't actually agree with all you have said because I know people who have actually made real money from gambling.

Gambling can be painful for people who do not play with caution, people who do not plan their finances very well. But with proper risk management and good analysis,  one can make nice money from gambling.
Good reply Odohu. People tend to generalize thins because of their experience. Everybody is different. And in as much as people are losing in gambling on a daily basis there are people who are also winning on a daily basis. The casinos games he talked about people do win every day in it. Some games in casinos are won by luck while some are won with logic or i would say consistency in understanding how it is being played.

There are things that every gambler needs to understand and there are procedures that a gambling needs to follow to avoid some certain hinderances in wining or ending a gambling section with profit. Which one is poor management of finances. Another is lack of discipline and failure to restrict form gambling when they have finished a gambling section. If a gambler can manage all this risk, then he would have more success that loss.
474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will any other coins like Bitcoin be discovery in the future? on: January 09, 2024, 03:30:52 PM
Bitcoin is a decentralized currency It is very difficult to say whether such coins like Bitcoin will be discovery in the future. But in my opinion such coins will not be another discovery.

All cryptocurrencies now in circulation have the intention of conquering or outshining bitcoin; nevertheless, they lack distinctiveness and are centralized initiatives that cannot be fully trusted. Bitcoin is unique and decentralized; all future coins that will be generated or have already been developed are looking up to Bitcoin; as a result, I do not believe there will be another coin like Bitcoin.

We did not have another coin among thousand of altcoins can have decentralization like Bitcoin.
I think only XMR come close to bitcoin because it is decentralized as well.
They have the intention of outshining bitcoin, but they don't have what it takes. This is because in mass adoption takes time and it will take years for any shitcoin to get the same mass adoption as Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrency and if you introduced cryptocurrency to a newbie, he would want to know which is more acceptable by everyone, which is safer to invest and which will give him massive return of investment. We all know that Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that is generally accepted.

Since we cannot predict the future. The only way any alternative to Bitcoin can surpass Bitcoin is when a particular coin is fully decentralized, have a high Market capitalization, Intense security and Privacy and more.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 09, 2024, 02:54:28 PM
Haaland's injury seems to be making Man City difficult. Since losing against Aston Villa, Haaland has not appeared. This makes Man City weak, and if it doesn't improve soon it might make it difficult for Man City to compete in the UCL or in the EPL. Man city has not found a player who can replace Haaland at this time. Although indeed in several matches Man City always won after Haaland was injured against Aston Villa.
Yes, you are right about this, Manchester City did seem to struggle when Haaland was injured. Man City's dull front line seems to remind Haaland of his important role, because without Haaland the team feels like it has lost its life if there are no key players. It looks like Pep Guardiola has to get used to it and look for a replacement for Haaland for a while, to stay focused and consistent when Manchester City's key player suffers an injury like this, so that the team's performance in the future still looks good and of high quality. That way, I'm sure they can definitely win the match in the next UCL and EPL matches.
Currently, De Bruyne has returned and immediately made a big contribution in last match against Huddersfield in the FA CUP by making 1 assist. And in that match Man City was able to win with a very big score, namely 5-0. In this match, there was visible development and increased sharpness in Man City's attacks. Maybe because they only played against clubs that weren't too strong. Because when Man City plays in the EPL, we all know that Man City still can't give their best without Haaland. So it is natural that all Man City fans will really miss Haaland. Because in big matches, only Haaland is able to make Man City's attack line very deadly. For small matches, maybe other forward players can do it too. But in EPL and UCL matches Haaland is really needed. I haven't found out when Haaland will return. Although previously there had been news circulating that Haaland had also recovered. But I haven't had time to read the latest news regarding its development.
It will be very deadly now that De Bryne is back to Manchester City while Haaland is on his way. The team is going back to the usual Man City team that won several competitions in one season. And the way i see it, since both of the key players will be playing soon in the EPL and UCL they have more chances of winning the titles again. It will only take luck if another team gets to win the title.

Obviously, Kelvin's impact was felt in their last match during the FA cup competition. It shows that he is fit and ready to give those unique passes and assist as usual. Actually, i don't want Manchester City to win the league again because they have had too much of it. But if it still goes that way am find with it. My choice for the EPL title is Liverpool and i want to see them win.
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 09, 2024, 02:45:38 PM
There is no law stating that gambling is for the young or for men only. So that leaves me to a simple and straight forward answer. Which is yes. I will be comfortable seeing my elderly mom gambling as long as she is not yet, and addict and she is gambling responsibly. If on the process of gambling she got lucky and won very big in it. Big to the extent that she does not have to gamble anymore, and she is rich. Will you not follow her and enjoy the riches?

Instead of getting disappointed when you see your mom gambling you can teach her the best gambling options and also teach her how to play safe when gambling. Especially to know when to stop gambling.

478  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: January 08, 2024, 08:10:48 AM
I have read a lot of comments in the section and I am not surprised that everyone are saying the same thing about KYC verification, I have personally passed many KYC verification on exchanges myself and I don't regret doing it.

I am someone who likes looking at things from both sides, just because I don't like KYC verification doesn't mean it is nonsense, I am currently staying away from giving up my identity to any centralized exchanges but how about we think this way instead?

If there were an alternative to avoid KYC please share it here we are all ears. Because in my country it is impossible to avoid KYC unless it is a physical P2P transaction deal. Dont make it sound like we all are saying KYC verification is so bad. In as much there are disadvantages of it there are still advantages of KYC. But for me i feel like it has more of the disadvantages and that is why OP has shared it here so that people who are not aware would be aware of the dangers of KYC and play safe.

OP, this is for you, have you put yourself in the position of running a platform yourself? That can't do without regulation like running a casino? Or running a crypto exchange like Binance? Can you do away without asking your customers for KYC verification? Can you advice them to avoid passing KYC because its not safe? I will love to hear people's opinion.

Perhaps OP, is still busy enjoying the New year season. Let me jump into these questions.

Yes, i just did. And i understand that the main reason why they made KYC mandatory is because they prioritize user's security and also respect   government regulations on cryptocurrency in the respective countries. Now this second reason is what i find uncomfortable with. Am curious to know what are the data they are sharing with the government and the tax authorities?

Like i said before if there was a means to bypass or avoid completing KYC it would have been better. User's information is important and it's a criteria to so many people to protect their privacy because they love to stay anonymous.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: January 08, 2024, 07:34:25 AM
For me, it's not a wise idea. No matter how pressing it is for me to prove to a friend how successful I have been in Bitcoin, it won't get to the point of showing my accumulation.
I understand the level of happiness and excitement that OP has to see an old friend after so many years. And this has made them to go into a serious discussion that led them to share their experiences and how they are surviving since they are of age now. Am trying to relate it to my own experience. Perhaps OP's friend has shared how own experiences and what he does to make money over there, that is why OP feels the need to share his own as well and he took it extreme that he almost told his friend how much he had in his bitcoin portfolio.

Although, it is not advisable to allow happiness to make us unleash our identities. There are things we keep privately, and our Bitcoin portfolio is one of those things. Influence of drugs and alcohol can make us say things we don't want to say. That is why avoid them so i won't make mistake i would regret later.

Now i am not saying i do not trust my friend. But if had a friend like OP, i won't tell him what i have in portfolio. This is because his said friend had been away for a long time and so he might have change positively or negatively of which it will take some time for me to build trust back. Since i do not know his current behavior and character ever since he left. I will study him first before i can disclose little about myself. Yes, i can teach him bitcoin if he is interested but i won't show him portfolio to prove any point.

Although it's hard to convince some people to do something these days, you have to show them that you have benefited from it. Well, I'm not a party to introducing my friends to Bitcoin yet until I am well acquainted with Bitcoin knowledge. Though I have been here and have learned a little, it's still not enough.
Your right, people prefer testimonials to believe you are telling the truth and also to prove that a particular system works. Most of these testimonials are fake and framed up but since they have seen that they will believe. This is the same reason why i always conclude that to lure someone to do something is so easy all you have to do is to prove to the person. Individuals with lack of information's and exploration to digital society can be easily deceived to do anything the i introduced them to on the internet. as long as you show them some successful pictures to convince them. And that is why so many of them fall for scams.

A better way to teach or share Bitcoin knowledge to a friend or relative is to show them how it works, provide video and documented resources for them to learn, provide FAQs for them so that they can understand while learning. Now this strategy would make them to have conviction on their own. So that when they start, they will be a true believer and not someone who was convinced because of the success stories and promises showed to them.

Arsenal in FA Cup since winning the competition in 2020:

2021: Knocked out in the fourth round by Southampton ❌

2022: Knocked out in the third round by Nottingham Forest ❌

2023: Knocked out in the fourth round by Manchester City ❌

2024: Knocked out in the third round by Liverpool ❌

Seriously Arsenal team is struggling so hard to win matches these days. Quite obvious it is another year of no trophies for Arsenal. What the team need is total liberation and restoration.
