461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your New Year's resolution? on: December 31, 2023, 03:57:13 PM
As an active gambler, you didn’t have to quit but only improve your gambling behaviours and have a plan in order to provide a good and simple year in your life. Stopping gambling will not save the issue unless you understand that gambling is something that you will lose and gain, and anything you want to play the game, you should put it in your mind that you either lose or gain, and also create a good budget in order not to get addicted to gambling.

Though I am not that active in gambling, I know if you have a great plan, you will not get addicted to gambling. Although I don’t want to be a gambling addict, I am sure that in the next year, we are going to have many online casinos and gambling platforms where we are going to gain more and also lose sometimes because you won’t expect to be gaining all the time unless you lose and gain. That is just the point.

Once again, I will wish a happy new year to all gamblers.
462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: December 31, 2023, 05:53:31 AM
One of the things that is not Easy to leave is the game , Especially when you Acquire a habit , because when you acquire a habit and things that we are used to doing it is difficult to leave it, it is like leaving a person who you have shared with Someone for 10 Years or something like that, the fact that they leave or that they leave them is going to hit a lot, and that is something that many cannot resist, it is the same with the casino , if it is stopped at once it can cause one of those Reactions when They are detoxifying drug users, the person is not well.

Players who are thinking About making Money have to understand that they will not quit, but if a person does nothing but lose and lose, they have to leave the game for their own good, for health and for Everything , it is not healthy to lose all the money, I have money in games of chance , sports betting, because life is More important than other things, the casino is not everything, you have to have a lot of Responsibility to be able to face Things as they are.

Actually, people who are already addicted to gambling can’t just quit it in a day, but even though they are trying to quit the gambling addict, it will take time because being addicted to something will make it very hard for you to leave it just in a day.

I think let's not emphasise quitting the game but reduce the addiction because whoever is addicted can do whatever it takes just to gamble. Every gambler believes he is a lucky person, and no one will ever believe him to fail. After putting his money into gambling, you will be very sure of your prediction until the game is over. That is when you are going to see whether your prediction is sure or wrong.

Is it not that I don’t gamble? No, I also gamble, but what I think I use is what is usually guiding me in any of my games. When you want to play a game, just put it in the back of your mind to either lose or win, and make sure you have a budget to spend on the game. If you are doing this, you will not get addicted so easily to gambling because it is just like an investment that you will be thinking about, either to gain profit or lose your capital.
463  Economy / Economics / Re: The steps to follow in creating a budget on: December 30, 2023, 08:19:17 PM
You have forgotten the simplest and most basic thing of creating a budget but it's one of the most important thing and that's to list all of your expenses and where your budget is going. With that, you'll be able to track your expenses and you know where it will be spent. Because if you don't have that list and you're good at the other things, how are you going to track them all? You've listed about #4 as creating and writing the budget but I think that should be at the top together with determining your income/expenses.

What you are trying to explain is what I discussed as #2. If you will be patient and understand my points, you will understand that I am trying to explain effectively all that is possible to learn and understand about creating a budget and the effective steps that you are going to follow to have a simple and accurate budget.

Although I know some authors or articles can give you almost ten (10) or fewer steps you can follow to create a budget, which is not bad, for me, I focus on creating the same steps I do follow in order to achieve things I want in my life. So believe me, the steps I mentioned are exactly what I usually do within my own budget. If you focus on the content under every number inside the topic, you will understand that I have explained all that is required in budgeting so far in the topic.

464  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Bitcointalk and Reflinks: make wuna no do referral-spam, ahbeg. on: December 30, 2023, 04:02:13 PM
Original Topic: Bitcointalk and reflinks: don't produce refspam, please

Author: 1miau

When you they deal with cryptocurrencies you go hear about something called reflinks very soon, Reflinks wey they know as referral links or affiliate links, they don design this links wey fit lead you to a page where you go fit register to use the service. E fit dey possible you too go get your own reflink from the website of the service, if you too come login to your account, if you too come day share your reflink other people(users) come click on it and they sign in to the service, the person wey day click on him reflink to register to the service go get small commission as him don refer another person (user).
Reflinks day different form normal links, because if person share reflink him go get small commission, and reflink day show for the link because normally for reflink you go see individual latter / number combination or even username.

So, reflink don day very popular because the person way get the reflink fit get small something if him share the link.
Unfortunately, the fact way they cause this things called “Refspam” na him you go see say them day post Reflinks anyhow just to get people(users) way go fit register through the reflink. Nah because of this bitcointalk bring rules we go prevent dis “Refspam”.

4. No referral code (ref link) spam.
Source: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

If you go post reflink dey go delete your post, and if person(you) continue to dey post refspam posts, dey fit ban (temporarily) him account in bitcointalk, so make wona day very careful and make wona no day post reflinks.

E get some special causes , wey they fit tolerate reflinks like if you include am in a very informative reply / description wey go add value, a person wey get site who want track traffic coming from bitcoin talk or similar where e dey very clear say e no be ref-spam.

If you dey doubt the link make you avoid your self to enter trouble you should just follow the rules and make you use the legal way to use reflinks in bitcointalk.

1.) Reflinks wey day your signature
It Is allowed make you use reflinks for your own signature. If you wan to put or wear signature to your account, your account most reach at least jr member, but e no day possible to click the link in signature of jr member, other people (users) will have to copy them in URL by them selves. In Members and above you go fit click the link wey day their signature.

E go be describe for number 2.) how you go fit change your personal signature.

2.) Use reflinks as a website for your profile

You fit link Reflinks to your own profile page and referenced in a post. How you go fit link a reflink in your own profile page works go dey as follows:
Choose Profile for your profile => Forum Profile Information and for there you fit put your reflink for the Website URL. If you like, you fit choose a name for the Website title, wey go show for your profile in Website.

For Profile => Forum Profile Information you go see the option to change your personal signature.

For a normal post in this forum you fit point out say you have a link for your profile at  "Website". E go look like this:

3. Refliks for your personal text

E fit day possible to post your referral link as personal text. You fit find it in your account settings, explain by sheenshane here. E go work if your link no too long because your personal text get limit  and you fit use only a limited number of character.

Kudos to hugeblack wey suggest dis one.

I dey hope say dis small guide fit help you to avoid the misunderstandings if you day inside people wey dey honestly share their reflink.
But ahbeg , make wuna no spam reflinks for normal posts, make you better use the method I don explain for up. Refspam dey annoy person and e no dey allowed self. And if you dey abuse dis method to create sigspam / spam to refer to your reflink in your profile you fit also get problem oo. Better be careful  Smiley

465  Economy / Economics / Re: The steps to follow in creating a budget on: December 29, 2023, 09:32:07 AM
Marry Christmas and happy new year.
It comes to me to share my knowledge with others, but I am sure some might know the steps in creating a budget, but it might be that they are not following it effectively. I hope if I share such knowledge, it will help a lot, especially in the season we are in now. I know that as we have already celebrated Christmas, we have spent much of our savings, which we are still going to spend more on when it comes to the New Year celebration, so I take this as a reason to share such information with others so others will not suffer, especially after all this celebration, so I will list and explain the steps in creating a budget.

The steps in the budget include

1. Determine your income: As the first step in creating a budget, you have to know your total income in terms of what you can afford. Do not write a budget that is more than your income and end up not achieving anything at the end because your income determines your budget, so let's take note of our income first. This income might include your weekly, monthly, or even yearly income, as well as side hustles and any other source of income.

2. Identify where your money is going: The second step in creating a budget is to track your expenses. This is also very important because, without knowing how you usually spend your money, you will end up writing a budget that you can’t even stick to. More over, expenses include housing, transportation, food, entertainment, gambling, and so on. When you have identified where your money is going, you can categorise it into groups. For instance, clothing, house rent fees, and others should all be in the category of housing. If that is done, you have definitely achieved your second step in creating a budget.

3. identify or set an achievable goal: This is the third step in creating a budget when you have identified your income, tracked your expenses, and categorised them. Why I say achievable goal is that you have to set a goal that you can achieve either long-term or short-term. For instance, you might save money in order to pay your debts, invest the money, or even pay for housing and any other expenses, such as buying valuable and usable items that won’t be a liability to you.

4. Start creating the budget or priorities for your expenses: This is the next step, for me. This is the step where you will start writing the budget. It is not that you won’t write those other steps I mentioned earlier; you will also write them, but this is the stage where you will allocate some amount of money to the categories that you have created at the second step, and you have to make sure that it aligns with your priorities. After allocating a certain amount of money to those categories, you should make sure that you keep some of it as emergency funds; it is also important.

5. Review the budget; in some cases, I mean monitoring, evaluation, or adjustment of the budget. This is like the final stage in creating a budget, although this stage is a continuous process because this stage never comes to an end unless you have purchased all that you have put in your budget to achieve this process, including regular adjustments as needed to accommodate and adjust your budget. This is done in case something comes up, such as the use of the emergency fund that you keep as a category for things like an increase in the price of what you intend to buy for medical expenses, which might be an emergency, and many others. In this step, you must track your budget very carefully and with caution to make sure you have achieved it.

The steps I have listed above are the ones I follow whenever I want to write a budget. You can change this step in many ways. For instance, a gambler can use it, but it will be more effective with the amount he needs for the gambling, and he should make sure he follows the track, so stick to the budget to avoid the source of unusual spending.

I think that thee way you structured the title of this thread and the content of the thread had not done more justice to the required intention behind the thread. Maybe being more detailed on what you mean by setting up a budget could have helped me understand the context of what you are trying to say. When you talk about setting a budget, I guess it's more of setting out an amount you will be spending out of your earnings or the amount you will be saving out of your earning right?

Setting budget in either of those cases is very necessary as it would help you avoid unnecessary spending and will also go a long way in increasing your savings and reducing unnecessary spending.

If you could go back and read the context of this topic, you would understand that I am not talking about a certain amount of money you are going to spend or even how to increase your savings. I am not saying that if you write a budget, you won’t save. No, creating a budget will help you save more than you expected.
So if you could read well and understand, you will know I am just talking about steps on how you create your budget based on your income and your expenses. I will advise you to read and understand the context before you can reply to or criticise a topic.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Know, But Can i Invest In Bitcoin? on: December 28, 2023, 06:32:49 AM
You are welcome to the forum, and I am happy to say to you that you have come to the right place, because here is where you will have all the information that you need about bitcoin and even other alt coins.

My suggestion for what I will say to you is that you should understand bitcoin first before you invest in it, because it is of no use to invest your money in something you know nothing about, so you should know and understand how bitcoin works. If you have done that, no one will tell you the amount to invest. You will know the amount to invest when you understand how bitcoin works.

Actually, investing in bitcoin is profitable, but understand it first before you invest because if you depend on the suggestions of others, you will end up blaming them. You shouldn’t be brainwashed by the profit; invest the amount that you know you can lose. In this case, I will like to tell you that you are the one to determine what to invest.

He said, he will open my bitcoin wallet and help to buy bitcoins. Should I invest in bitcoin?

Yes, it is a good idea to invest in bitcoin, but understand it before you invest in it.especially, be cautious about him that will open the wallet for you, and make sure you keep your seed phase (private key) very secure and not allow anyone to have access to your private key (seed phase), because if someone has access to those keys, it is like he has access to your bitcoin, and I hope you know what that means.

470  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: When last did you drank to stupol on: December 27, 2023, 06:33:46 AM
Being drunk is am awful feeling, in this  season of celebrations  and enjoyments don't get caught up by this act.

How funny it is to become unconscious by what you consciously use your own hand and put in your mouth.
You have to watch yourself and know your limit because it has so many negative effects,  many accident on the road are cause by people that are drunk.

Share your own experience or thought about this.

Thank God many people know the effects of excessive use of alcohol, because alcohol is a very dangerous substance that not only affects the chemistry function of the human body but also causes many effects, which include accidents, as you have mentioned, and socioeconomic factors (which include poverty, high levels of depression, and many others). Alcohol also causes the destruction of the liver and the heart, and it results in some type of cancer. That is not all. High consumption of alcohol can also reduce the function of your body, which includes a low reaction to things, which is what causes accidents in some cases, and even unfavourable decision-making that can lead you to a wrong conclusion.

To some, alcohol is good, although medically sometimes it is prescribed, but it is used in a moderate manner, not by drinking 10 or even 12 bottles at a time, which is what is common among those who engage in the use of alcohol. The advice I will give here is to stay away from alcohol unless it is prescribed by a doctor in order to stay healthy.

This one nah simple thing: as you day around people, wey no one see you prosper. You suppose to leave them na you too. Check am, we day together You no day help me, but you sabi day tell me. Watin you don achieve Haba no be say if you show me I no go sabi am oo but you no share how I go talk know am to me if I get that kind person I go just mute am neh because e no get use

A wise men said, "If you are not given value at the place, don’t go back there again,” which is the truth because your rich friend will not check on you unless you are also rich, so let's also be thinking wisely because those rich or successful friends around you that refuse to help you or show you the way are not your friends but just your close enemies, so you need to stay away from them, and again, others might be afraid to share because they might think if you join them doing what they are doing, you will end up gaining more of them, and they will not like it because they won’t like to see you ahead of them.

What I will say is that to me, I will just go and find another way to also succeed in life, especially as we day this naija ways to get money plenty. Nah, only you don't want to join, but all I will do is make sure I look for legit and legal money and stay away from the illegal ones.
472  Economy / Economics / Re: A career - as an employee or a business owner which do you prefer and why? on: December 26, 2023, 11:16:39 PM
Now let's have a discussion about it all, for between being an employee to work for some other person's establishments/organization/company  and rather taking time/years to establishing your own company and not working under an employer but rather you being the employer, which will you chose and please ensure to back up your choice with reasonable thoughts, as it could be a guide to some other person's that might be reading this tread.

To be sincere with me, I will like to be the employer, not the employee, since I have never dreamed of working under someone just because I find it so irritating because if you, as an employee, work under the company of someone, your needs in life are limited because anything you need to purchase in this world or your daily or monthly experience must be on budget based on the salary that you will get paid at the end of the work day, but if you have no option, you have to manage and work under someone so that you can survive.

If you are the owner of the company, you are in a position to employ others. which is the chapter I love the most in my life. I hate being disturbed about something, and I also hate disturbing someone because I usually think that person that I will disturb will feel the same, to hate being disturbed, so I will like to employ others so that we can work together to earn more and sustain each other. I know I am the owner of the company, but I will make the company like a big family where you will have all the freedom to do the right thing, but if you are found a victim of doing the wrong or illegal act, I can do what is not expected, but to be sincere, working under someone’s company is somehow irritating, unless there is no option.
473  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: No rush say because of post count say you no go make meaningful contribution o on: December 26, 2023, 05:22:37 PM
Fact. I strongly agree with your post. Many members engage in such acts just to make sure they have completed their post count, which is what will cause spamming and low-quality posts, which is very wrong and supposed to be taken care of, because even though you are working and you end up in a statistic position, you too will not be encouraged. But as Naija Day like this, anybody that gets where he go they get money no go, they bother to increase his effort, which is the result of the suffering that Naija people are facing, but to be sincere, if you increase your efforts, your rank will also increase, which means your quality posts might be merited.

So please, especially the members, junior members, and newbies, work with passion to succeed, which means they should increase this post quality, have a smooth stay in the forum, and also let them keep learning because those who learn always gain.
474  Other / Serious discussion / Re: How much money is enough money? on: December 26, 2023, 05:13:10 AM
how much money is enough money?
At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?

To me, having enough money comes from the different determinations of each person. But based on my perspective, there is no amount of money that is enough, because as you get richer, you will have more expectations or things you need in life. So eventually, even if you are wealthy enough to the extent that your 10th generation will still spend money lavishly, they will still not get broke. Even if they don’t work again, you will still continue to look for the money. No stop because you will be thinking that any time you stop looking for the money, you will not be recognised again or you might get broke, and others will like to be the wealthiest in the world. So to me, no money is ever enough to stop looking for it. Because as long as you are still alive, you must spend, so you need to look for the money because money is an essential factor in life.
475  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: We should control our tongue at all time. on: December 26, 2023, 04:31:55 AM
This is nothing but lawlessness, there should be freedom of speech and they can also be challenged by citizens for noth doing their job as suppose. Some of the citizens have experience where some police do have pos machine with them Incase they catch any yahoo boy, they can get their own share from them.

This is the problem we are facing in our country. Naija people have that mentality. You said some have experienced a situation where you will see a policeman with a pos in case they catch any Yahoo boys. I have questions for you. Did you encounter such experiences before? If yes, where is your evidence?

All this there is saying about the corruption of the armed forces in Nigeria, most especially the police. Yes, we know that some police are corrupt, but even though you know you will never say it because you have no evidence, let me tell you my experience on that. I have ever broken a law by following one way with my bike, not knowing that someone in security was waiting for me when they seized my bike. I was like, This is a mistake. One of them requested some token so that I could just give it to them and go. I said I didn’t have anything to give them, which made them so angry, and they took the bike to the office without hesitation. I asked for their office address. After I reached there, the first person I went to direct was the DPO. He said that I must bail out my bike. I asked how much he said, 3k. I said if I paid, would I be given a receipt? He said no. That is, when I use my brain, someone is definitely trying to use me. I told him that in the constitution of Nigeria. Even though I committed the offence, I will just be taking it to court and paying a fine, which will not be more than 100 naira. He asked me if I was a student. I said yes from the law department, which is just a lie. He just called an office. I told him to give me my key so that I could go. You see, some people fall victim to such things because they don’t know their rights or where to prove them. That is just the issue because if the DPO identifies that I am lying, I know I will suffer, but what made him believe it was that I have an ID card in my pocket and the ID card ribbon is showing from my shirt pocket. That is what made him believe it.
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your Bitcoin spendings here on: December 25, 2023, 09:42:30 PM
Actually, this is a nice idea to share your experience with others on how you spent your bitcoins, but it is also a chance for others to spam, because many will bring different stories, some of which might be true, and from hearing some, you will know that there are friction stories, and when other newbies or members see them, they will think or even believe the story, for instance. I said that for the past year that I have been in bitcoin investment, I have achieved a lot to the extent that I have already bought a house, a luxurious car, and I got married. With the profit I got from my bitcoin investment, we know it can be possible, but it is just a friction story because it hasn’t happened to me yet. Since I see other people writing some nice stories, I might create mine. This is just an example I gave, not my story on how I spent my bitcoin. I will use this medium to encourage you to stop such low-quality posts for just the purpose of fun or discussion. It might discourage others.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is you who can't stop betting. on: December 25, 2023, 08:18:59 PM
I can say this is like your view or perception of those who are gambling addicts, which is not so because the initiation of addiction starts from the brain, which is responsible for a certain substance called neurotransmitter dopamine that triggers pleasure, which is capable of making you do something and end up thinking why you did it, or you will be thinking maybe you were possessed by a jinn, which is not true, so the initiation of addiction is from the brain. In other circumstances, it might be inherent (genetic), environmental, or psychological factors. These three I just mentioned are also some factors that influence addiction.

So if you are addicted to something, it will be very hard for you to stop it within a short period of time. That is why many people who are already addicted find it hard to stop gambling or anything they are addicted to. It's not that you can’t stop doing what you are addicted to; you can, but it will take a very long time before you stop. For instance, someone who has been addicted to alcohol can’t say he will just stop it in a day but start reducing it bit by bit. By reducing the number of bottles he is talking about, if he is talking about six bottles a day, he will reduce it to three a day after a week or more. He can also reduce it to one and a half after a week, then he can reduce it to a half bottle after some weeks to just a cup. From there, he can forfeit the use of alcohol forever. If you can see the time it takes to stop the use of alcohol in this case study, you will know that addiction takes time before you can stop it, so don’t blame those who have been addicted to gambling or other things that can be addictive.

I am excited to see someone, and at the same time, my brother from the same country has done it.

What I will just say here is that all those members should partake in this contest because, even though you didn’t emerge as one of the winners, you can still share your experience by doing the art work or graphic design. Any time I am doing this graphic design, I am feeling some encouragement in myself that I can create something good that is capable of making others happy.

Kudos for your effort to see the improvement in others and arouse the interest of other members of the forum to participate in the art contest.

Actually, it is very unlikely to be financially stable before you can think of taking another job for yourself or marrying someone’s daughter. Financial stability doesn’t mean being that rich or that wealthy. but to have good and complete access to money. Have what to do for a daily living in order to survive.
There is a proverb that says that all hands are not equal. That means we are all not going to be rich and wealthy, and some of us will still be poor. That is why I said you should be financially stable or have something to do to provide for yourself before you can get married, because even if you are poor, if you can meet some requirements of provision for the family, you are good to go. For instance, if you are married to the love of your life and you are working, you receive $50 as a monthly payment. In this situation, you can’t say you are rich or financially stable, but you have something to do that can provide for you and your family. What you need to do is just plan your life and that of your family on a budget so that you can live and manage your life.

Most of the people who have a lot of wealth and do not enable their children to earn rather they decide on child marriages believing in their earnings which is definitely wrong. Perhaps no matter how much wealth one has, one should enable one's children to earn for themselves. So that he can become a responsible member of the house and society.

There is something that I want you to understand about wealthy and rich; these two things have broad differences. because being rich means you have some amount of money and property that can sustain you, your family, and your friends and do other things for some certain time, which can finish one day. What I mean is that you can be rich and get broke within some years of your life, but when we are talking about wealth, this is not only having some property of money but a big collaboration and shares in many big companies and also owning many companies to the extent that the amount of money you are receiving daily can be spent lavishly for 100 people or even 1000 people for a complete year. Here we are talking about what you will receive daily, not weekly or monthly. That is what is meant by being wealthy. How will you think that those children that grow up in that family will lack or even think of starting something to earn money? What will he do with it while it is abundantly available?

Nice initiative! Op, you really try bringing this up; this will be an encouragement and motivation for us who still have low merit to the next rank. However, I will also drop my own here.
