@sunny day: try running smartcoin as root (sudo smartcoin)

@jondecker: Well I overclock my cards separately using atitweak because it's a 5770 and 5830 so they have different clocks.
The status screen shows <<DOWN>> for both cards.
It's just happened again now and I can still see the temperatures so aticonfig must still be working.
When I look at the miner screen instances all I see is
"Exporting: /opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx64/lib/x86_64
LAUNCH: python /opt/miners/phoenix//phoenix.py -v -u http://btcrig:btcrig@localhost:8337/ device=0 worksize=256 vectors aggression=10 bfi_int fastloop=false -k phatk"

Also another thing I noticed is if phoenix fails to connect it will just stop trying after a couple of attempts:
e.g. "Exporting: /opt/AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx64/lib/x86_64
LAUNCH: python /opt/miners/phoenix//phoenix.py -v -u http://btcrig:btcrig@localhost:8337/ device=0 worksize=256 vectors aggression=10 bfi_int fastloop=false -k phatk
[10/08/2011 22:45:12] Phoenix r111 starting...
[10/08/2011 22:45:22] Failed to connect, retrying...
[10/08/2011 22:45:32] Failed to connect, retrying..."

Even though the server is up and running as I'm mining it on my other PC. It's been sat like that for 25 minutes without attempting to reconnect again now and smartcoin doesn't attempt to restart them either.

If I restart them manually they connect fine.

What distro are you running smartcoin on?  When the miner instance screen shows blank, is it like that when it starts, or after its already been running and then hangs? (Does smartcoin ever work properly, if even just for a little bit?  If/when it is working, do the miner instance screens look normal?)

Regarding phoenix connection issues, there isn't much I can do about phoenix issues, though it appears to me that lockup detection should happen in this instance.  Also, i have gotten reports of r 111 and r112  of phoenix having these types of problems (I run phoenix r107 and never have issues like you are describing, perhaps you could verify?)

Linuxcoin 0.2-final.
I run it 16 hours a day and it only happens a couple of times a week.
It's always after a few hours or so.
When it works it looks normal.
I guess it's just locking up.
Do you recommend just setting the lockup script to restart the machine or set my clocks lower? Since it doesn't happen that often.
Ah, I'm using 1.5 but i'll try those, thanks.

Hey getting some bizarre problems with my smartcoin Sad
Only seems to have started recently.
It's been mining fine for a while now.
But now on the status screen it shows <<IDLE>> for both my miners.
In the log it says they have locked up, but to be honest I doubt that both of my cards would lock up at the exact same time would they?
When trying to reload the miners, the miner screens just sit at the "Launching phoenix" screen and have no more output.
Then eventually I lose the ability to monitor my temperature (this occurs 10 minutes or so afterward, when i attempted to manually restart smartcoin).
And i get the message "No protocol specified" in the status window (a log from aticonfig maybe?)
The only solution is to restart Sad
Any ideas?

Why is my bithopper mining on eligius(backup) when bitclockers is on 28%? It mined bitclockers for a bit but then it changed to a red font color in the stats screen and went onto eligius, but nothing appears to be wrong with bitclockers..

Any chance you'd be adding a bithopper package to the repo? Smiley
I can't get it to work on LinuxCoin

Getting "SSL support is not present" error whilst trying to run this on LinuxCoin 0.2-final.
I've installed python-openssl and python-twisted.
Any ideas?

With the final I'm getting "no supported adapters found" with aticonfig again and "failed to load OpenCL kernel" with phoenix Sad
What gives?
I've accepted the license and ran "sudo aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all"

Ok thats strange it was tested quite a bit this end before release. Can you please post the

make and model of your card
the output from

Code:
aticonfig --lsa
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
ls /etc/OpenCL/vendors

The model is a Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X. It's the same with my Sapphire Xtreme 5830 also.
It used to work fine in 0.2-b. Then in prefinal it was a bit iffy, now in final I can't get it working at all.

Seems like I've missed something from the configuration somewhere since it's not working with either card in different PCs.

I don't know about the initial test results with 11.7, but from what I've heard, sticking with 11.6 sounds like a better idea.
Higher Mhash rates with 11.6 than 11.7 so far is what i've heard.

Just updated to the 0.2-prefinal and unfortunately I'm getting some weird errors.

When I run atitweak it lists my card (5770) and I can overclock it just fine, but when I try to load phoenix (both with and without smartcoin) or if i try and do a "aticonfig --initial --adapter=all" I get "No supported adapters detected" and phoenix shows an error about OpenCL. But atitweak works fine...

I've accepted the SDK license, that doesn't help either Sad

This worked fine in 0.2b!
Any ideas? Sad

PS I've also noticed it takes a LONG time to start up now too.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas to help me with this, I got linuxcoin installed with two 6970s and works fine, it is mining away.  I put together another rig with two 6950s, and x server won't load.  I used a generic PCI-e card to boot up with x server and left one 6950 card in, and was able to boot up, and I can see the one 6950 with aticonfig, catalyst won't come up says drivers not installed, and poclbm only recognizes the CPU.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

try running sudo aticonfig --initial --adapter=all

Thanks that did the trick!
Is the lockup threshold measured in iterations too?
474  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Smartcoin Linux mining administration. [NEW LOCKUP DETECTION & FAILOVER SUPPORT] on: July 27, 2011, 05:39:59 PM
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll try that now Smiley

EDIT: I updated to r549e and it still shows 3 failover options in the menu.
Did you mean the stable branch?

This error keeps flicking up also in the status screen.
smartcoin_status.sh: line 151: [[: 8 8 8: syntax error in expression (error token is "8 8")
My threshold(s) are all set to 8 so I guess this is related.

Feature request:  If lm-sensors is installed, it would be nice if the CPU temperature was displayed alongside the GPU temps.

+1 for this.
And I can't wait for the multi-machine support for this to be ready! Excellent job so far.

I've had a bit of a problem trying to figure out why my failover settings aren't working.
I had the failover thresholds (apparently there's 3 of them?) set to 1 (not sure what exactly they're measured in. I was expecting it'd be how many minutes of downtime, but i guess not) just to test and I had the failover profile selected.

The pool went down and I waited just under 10 minutes and it still sat there without changing to another profile.
Any ideas why this isn't working? Sad

Other than that though, great job!
