461  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-28] Uber has chosen Bitcoin-Friendly Dara Khosrowshahi as its new CEO on: August 28, 2017, 06:09:49 PM
It would actually be great if Uber stars accepting bitcoin. Huge amount of people are using it and It would be great for BTC's publicity

I agree, this gonna be huge for bitcoin ecosystem as we all know that Uber has a lot of customers worldwide and the potential for them to get bitcoin to used as payment would bolster the ecosystem. But then again, the major drawback is the high fees and slow network confirmation.

Taxi services (among many other IRL/brick&mortar business) aren't a good fit for any on-chain cryptocurrency, taxi drivers can't wait around for transactions to confirm before they take their next fare. Only 2nd layers built on-top of blockchain transaction systems (with instant funds clearance, i.e. no confirmations) can perform properly for the taxi driver's needs.

It's an easy fix. Instead of just paying instantly for a trip, add money (credits) to your account balance and there you go. Paying with BTC and yet instantly
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: "ETH mining is profitable, but not for long" -Techinasia on: August 28, 2017, 02:22:53 PM
I dont think the difficulty will change soon. but there will always be people who get free electricity and  put htere miners in that area. Fo those people, they will be profitable all the way to the end.

You don't have tho think. ETH team accounted that difficulty will be increased by almost 50% until the end of the year (September and November are two points If I remember right) and that is not counting additional miners that will increase difficulty even further.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are transaction times so slow? on: August 28, 2017, 02:21:04 PM
My transaction has been completed, looks like there was a lot of load on the block chain. Still waiting for Segwit to be able to give us 8Mbs/block. Anyone have an idea when that will be?
Yes.  I have an idea when that will be: Never.  SegWit doesn't do 8MB.  SegWit will never do that.  SegWit is being carefully restricted to 1MB by Core.  Indeed, they are looking for ways to go to .5MB.  I am not kidding about this.

Just use Bitcoin Cash.  They already have 8MB running right now and they have very short confirmation times and very low fees.  It is already running.  You don't need to wait for anything.

Yeah they do got that. But that doesn't change the fact that BCC is not supported by anyone and you can't do shit with it. So no point in recommending someone to witch if it's not accepted. It's as if you would say "Well just use Litecoin" cool man but no one wants to get paid with it.

465  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-27] BITCOMOM GO - Pokemon Like Game For Catching Crypto Money on: August 28, 2017, 02:13:54 PM
So what they are actually doing is gathering money and after they are done with a game they will distribute it to players ? If it's not a scam it's a stupid idea
I didn't get, first the game had been released already or it's just a dream of Pokemon fan boy? Whatever it can be this is just another version of bitcoin faucets. There many games alike where you can earn some satoshies. But we all know already that faucets do not bring any visible profit, it's just fun and easing of the time.

It's kinda different. Faucets don't ask for your money before they give it to you. These guys ask for it. I just don't understand how it's right in their minds
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stratis Breeze Wallet going to be released on Friday on: August 27, 2017, 09:00:47 PM
Never head of Stratis before but It looks interesting. C# is generally very easy to learn (15 year olds learn it in school) so it might offer a lot of people opportunity to do something with blockchain.

468  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-26] Expert Predicts Bitcoin Will be Worth up to $20,000 in 3yrs on: August 27, 2017, 12:01:46 PM
There is no point in predicting the future exchange rates of Bitcoin, because till now no one has succeeded in doing it. Back in 2015, people would have laughed at you if you had claimed that after two years the exchange rates could climb to $4,400 per coin.

Not really. In 2015 people predicted a lot more as they are predicting now. No way we can know for sure, so as you said, no point in predicting.
469  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-25]Bitcoin Exchange BTC-e Promises 'Daily' Updates During Relaunch Atte on: August 27, 2017, 11:21:30 AM
US authorities later seized BTC-e's Web domain and unsealed a 21-count indictment, accusing Russian national Alexander Vinnik and BTC-e of facilitating the laundering of billions of dollars via bitcoin, along with a $110 million fine.

They are promising to return to operate as usual and will return all people's money. OK, but they do not explain how that will be possible, How will they do to get rid of accusation: facilitating the laundering of billions of dollars via bitcoin?

If Alexander Vinnik is not the owner of Btc-e, who is the owner of Btc-e?

They won't rid of accusation. They will probably pay the fee (if they have enough money) or users assets are not seized

471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Metropolis is coming, what to expect? on: August 25, 2017, 01:57:50 PM
It'll be interesting to see what other coin can handle ETH's difficulty when miners start to switch. If there is no viable alternative at least we will see a lot of cheap GPUs  Grin  Grin
472  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-23] Bitcoin Transactions Aren’t as Anonymous as Everyone Hoped on: August 25, 2017, 01:56:08 PM
No shit. That is the reason Mixers exists (existed ? ). They are looking to completely deanonymize BTC by shutting coin mixers and requesting your ID when purchasing BTC anywhere.
473  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SMS messages with Bitcoin on: August 25, 2017, 01:45:54 PM
Not a good idea, even many projects where about anonymouse sms sending (with adsense ads and failed/weren't able to cover costs) + I believe you won't have many customer.
I think it will be good to offer receiving sms when bitcoin transaction gots 3/6 confirmation, these days people have to wait hours to get transaction confirmed even with high fees, so letting it to people with sms would be a good idea (not profitable but good).

If you are using blockchain.info wallet, they let you know when you get income/expense from your wallet. You can chose to be notified with SMS or Email
474  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SMS messages with Bitcoin on: August 23, 2017, 03:40:43 PM
I understand that you have to fill your signature campaign posts for this week, but it's usually a good idea to read entire thread before replying to it Smiley
Shut up.I read the entire thread and didn't find a single post that actually specified my opinions.Stop asking for advises if you are here to comment on my signature campaign.Start a self moderated thread otherwise.
The main post never said the SMS would be anonymous ,career related or just a cheap service. If you'd like to avoid obvious questions ,do spend a second or two in detailing the thread so critics don't have to suffer for your laziness.

Main post did not and that is the reason why I said it's usually a good idea to read entire thread before replying to it. Questions is already answered with 7# post in this thread by me:

You guys think point is sending SMS cheap, no. Point of last project was to send sms to anyone anonymously with Bitcoin.
475  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SMS messages with Bitcoin on: August 23, 2017, 10:13:34 AM
I found some project that was up long ago, and it allowed you to send SMS messages to someone paying with Bitcoin. Project is now closed, but look like a fun idea. Would you guys be interested in such a service ? It wouldn't take me long to make this and code would be publicly available on GitHub. Let me know your opinions on this idea.
But why ? I could just send an SMS using my phone's network which I pay monthly for ? Unless you're offering something very useful like cheap SMS international using bitcoins or anonymous SMS I don't think we actually need the service.Anyway that's just my point of view, you may disagree.

I understand that you have to fill your signature campaign posts for this week, but it's usually a good idea to read entire thread before replying to it Smiley

I have a lot of experience in SMS industry, however, I don't understand how you would like it to function exactly. Do you want just to send an A2P SMS notification after the transaction has been completed?

Multiple ways of doing this. Can prepare sms and after transaction is confirmed send it. I can make user balance with btc deposit and then send sms with that... Just talking on top of my mind
476  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SMS messages with Bitcoin on: August 22, 2017, 03:52:02 PM
Considering the cost of sending domestic sMs within one country and the btc transaction fees, one has to purchase a minimum quantity to cover both, so it will work only for business sMs.
It can work for international sMs, provided we can find a way out to beat the tx fees and the competitive rates of sending sMs.

Yeah well current situation with fees is really bad. We don't know for how long it will last. We'll see what will happen with next fork in november
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin (BTC) be killed by BCC soon? on: August 21, 2017, 11:03:33 PM
Anyone with a right mind can't think that is possible. I mean come one, BCC is just copy/paste of Bitcoin code with changed configuration file, now can a copy ever be better than the original ?
What are you saying?

Do you understand mathematics, game theory and mining difficulty at all?

This is a very realistic scenario. Don't put your head in sand and look here:

http://fork.lol/pow/hashrate

https://cash.coin.dance/blocks

That is not good news.

That is current situation only. Can you tell me why is BCC better ? Does it have any additional functionality ? Nope. Only reason why it's being mined is because of low difficulty atm. Let me ask you, since you obviously think I'm wrong and BTC will be killed, have you sold all your BTC and bought BCC ?
478  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-20]Bitcoin Price to Reach $5,000 This Year, Predicts Gatecoin CEO on: August 21, 2017, 09:54:05 PM
Everything what is happening in the crypto-currencies community is telling us that we can expect 5000$ during the year and that this year is going to be the year of Bitcoin!

As long as we don't know how things will play out when it comes to the hard fork in November, we can't just take a higher price for granted so easily. Other than that, reaching the $5000 isn't that much of an achievement how things are right now, and it will definitely not be the year of Bitcoin. Every year with growth can be seen as a Bitcoin year. If we're talking about the year of Bitcoin, it implies that it is some sort of an ultimate year, which it obviously isn't. Everything we experience right now is still peanuts if we look at how things might be in the long run.

Whatever happens in November, majority will always stay with Bitcoin. Most of the people here hold BTC and invest in BTC primarily so I highly doubt that they will support forked coin.
479  Economy / Speculation / Re: Legendary Bitcoin Trader “masterluc” Predicts $15,000 Bitcoin This Year on: August 21, 2017, 09:50:24 PM
Maybe he got inside info about multiple huge companies that would like to invest into Bitcoin which I think it's not really likely. I guess most of the guys including me will be happy with 6000-7000$ at the end of the year.
