461  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: April 08, 2024, 04:29:16 PM
From my understanding, Twitter is not a t-shirt printing shop, but a large business, industry, media, corporation and it will take years and many years before we can really judge what he did wrong and what he did right. I can use other industry giant as an example - Apple inc. There are two completely different companies with different approaches before and after Steve Jobs. Notice how people talk negatively about Tim Cook and his management, however, their products are still most demanded on the market.
Twitter is relatively smallest social media compared to others but the users think the information shared is more credible than other platforms especially when it came from verified accounts. But Elon introduced verification for everyone for a subscription fee that backfired instantly and lost the share value but as of now other social media is following what he did for example Instagram took the same path of providing verification for payment and also they launched very similar in the name called threads.
Elon Musk's target public are the choleric political militants and jokes/memes enthusiasts. This way he grabbed the interest of people from all ages to his social media. Political matters bring a large public from 40 years old on, plus the fake news, conspiracy theories are really popular among the 50 years old and above. On the other hand, those memes made of scrappy and scribbled cartoons, without context on many cases, are popular among the teenagers and youngs. In the end, it's a very unproductive social media sustained by polemics, exchanged insults, lies and distorted conceptions of life, which inevitably takes anyone who consumes its content for too long into a severe depression.

Elon Musk himself finds himself in such polemics quite often. Just now he is playing the 'justice paladin' role by confronting a major judiciary member from brazilian supreme court on X for censorship and power abuse against brazilian citizens. These news keep the platform active and users engaged.

Top 10 Bitcoin Holders: Who Owns the Most BTC? (2024)

These companies hold large sums of Bitcoins and can be considered whales who have great influence on crypto market. They have potential to cause deep damage to BTC, through crashing the price by dropping huge supply of coins for sale, or they can be powerful guardians of Bitcoin's stability, by simply holding those coins they have, even during harsh times when other whales are playing and manipulating the market, crashing the prices to bottom levels.

From the ones above, I think MicroStrategy is the most consistent investor so far. They have been acquiring Bitcoin since a long time ago, always supporting it during the hard times when media and economists launched their strikes against Bitcoin by claiming it was a Ponzi or dead currency. Always Bitcoin loses price, MicroStrategy immediately announces they are going to purchase more coins, what really helps to at least maintain the optimism of investors balanced.
463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Story of my life on: April 08, 2024, 04:01:34 PM
Has anyone had the same experience before?
Yes. I've already had the impression that the more often I gamble, less positive outcomes I get from it. On the other hand, when I gamble for shorter periods of time, and less frequently, it seems results are much better and I don't encounter long loss streaks, being possible to quit the gambling session in profit. I imagined that could be the house baiting me to continue playing with higher sums of money, however, that wouldn't be possible considering there is a provably fair algorithm which ensures the legitimacy of every bets, without being possible for the house to manipulate outcomes.

So I guess it happens just due to the fact when we gamble too much, we hit the long term more often, where the house always have the advantage, but when we play once in a while, we tend to stay inside the short run margin, which is still profitable for gamblers.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New New on: April 07, 2024, 02:46:55 PM
Is there a reliable website for soccer predictions? If yes, what is it called?
There are many websites sharing sports' predictions on the internet. However, what would be considered reliability in this case? To share a positive percentage of accurate predictions compared to the predictions they have missed? You can find lists of such websites on the internet, even some which have results predicted by AIs, however, they analyze the accuracy only taking past events into consideration, what means that from this moment on, the predictions can become heavily inaccurate, leading gamblers to future losses.

After all, it's still a game of luck, where randomness is the inexorable nature, and the underdog can always beat the favorite.

1. At what age will you allow your child to start gambling? that is if you will even allow for that at all?
My concern would be if they are responsible, stable and careful enough to gamble at some point of their lives. If they display such characteristics, I wouldn't bother to see them gambling since an early age, from adolescence onwards.

2. At what age do you see yourself quit gambling? that is also if some of us are going to ever do so?
Why there would be an age to quit gambling? It seems the older people get, more used to gambling practice they become, because they tend to stick to more monotonous hobbies and activities which demand less mobility and emotional distress.

3. Ever since you have started gambling, have you ever achieve a satisfying level that makes you think it has good impact on you?
I have already had good times gambling which I remember with nostalgia and I think it will remain like this forever as an important part of my lifetime. Although I also have some nasty moments in my memory related to losses... Still, I consider it to have been a learnship after all.

4. Would you have missed out on anything if you were not a gambler?
Yes, the experiences, memories and learnships.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT BRAG ABOUT YOUR BITCOIN on: April 07, 2024, 02:10:18 PM
It is important you do not brag about success. Don’t share how much you have with others. This should be obvious, but there are people that may not be so excited for you. They may tell their friends, and sooner or later someone who you don’t know, who may have the capacity for violence, may decide you are an appetizing target.
Of course there are precautions we should take regards sharing personal informations about our investments with other people. However, success will be inevitably sniffed by people around at some point, once you start using the profits made through Bitcoin investment. And how can you hide it from them? Criminals will see the individual as a target, anyway. You have to protect yourself and care about your physical integrity, but at same time, you can't stop living as you wish and can afford because other people will see you as a target. Then, how can we solve this equation?
467  Other / Off-topic / Re: How you can benefits from your loss ? on: April 07, 2024, 01:56:53 PM
As gambler How do you deal with loss?
I deal with loss as part of the game, by the rules I previously was aware about and even in this case decided to took the risks, anyway. It's an expected outcome of the game, therefore it shouldn't be received with surprise, anger or despair. Especially in gambling, which consist in games where you know the chances are against you on long run, that is, the more you play, since there is a house edge factor against you, while favouring the casino and maintaining the business profitable for them along the time.

It's through losses that you learn humbleness. You finally understand you aren't the all powerful individual who is going to break the bank. You have to accept the fact you have limitations and must stick to your limits in order to preserve your mental and financial welfare, otherwise, if you decide to challenge the house till the end, you will inevitably end bankrupted and broken. A loss is the perfect timing to conclude you had enough fun already for the day, so it's better to go home.
468  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Would Anyone Be Against Self Defense? on: April 07, 2024, 01:46:52 PM
What is the rationale of those who want to make self defence illegal?

I get how a liberal could want social programs, since it's basically more money for them taken from someone else: Immoral but understood, more resources for your, less for someone else. But why is the first reaction of liberals in an altercation to criticise the person reacting to being assaulted and not the person starting the violence?

Do they just assume nothing bad will ever happen to them and thus can't empathize with someone being genuinely victimized? I can't see what they would gain from outlawing self defence. If anything, liberals are more likely to be assaulted since they tend to not workout and are more sensitive - see journos, they aren't even inclined to do petty crime and would benefit from people being sheepish about self defence. They would be the exact type of person a petty criminal WOULD target.
The masses who are against self-defense are just fools who repeat the speeches of the politicians from the ideology they idolize. They don't know for real what the impact of such measures would have on practice. If they did, they would change their minds immediately.

Meanwhile, the politicians who defend the agenda are just hypocritical, since they are heavily protected by bodyguards everywhere they go. All of them fully armed with modern weapons and specialized on self-defense skills. Common people are told to not defend themselves by politicians who don't have to defend themselves, because they have someone who can do this for them, thanks to the tax money those common citizens pay in order to hire those professionals.

I guess the point is that to endorse this bullshit is profitable for them. They have a highlighted role on the society for defending this agenda. That is how they are elected, exercises influence over other people and make a living from.

The masses, however... Well, they might feel rewarded for being part of a group of people who think in the same manner. The sense of belonging must be enough for them...
469  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling problems on different races on: April 07, 2024, 01:17:07 PM
Africans have little of gambling addict because they have only local gambling shops (lack of economic opportunities to improve the level of gambling). so they rarely reach full addiction.
In recent years, I've observed a considerable increasement on the participation of africans on this forum and gambling discussions in general. I'm not sure if africans have access only to local gambling shops, since to access this forum they must have devices connected to the internet. Besides the fact they are active on threads related to virtual casinos, what makes me believe they are also active betting on those platforms.

While in some other part of the world like the white, they are more likely to have co-occurring gambling disorders because of  depression or anxiety.
'The white' face the same lack of economic opportunities other people do, depending where they live, what their educational background is, and what opportunities are disponible around them. Many of them don't have enough income to maintain a high level of gambling addiction too, and in fact, the lack of financial stability could be one reason for the development of the depression and anxiety disorders.

And other races have high rate of gambling problems due to the presence of casinos on reservations, for example in Asia.
I didn't understand this one.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stopping the curse of losing streak? on: April 07, 2024, 01:05:52 PM
In your case, how do you approach when you are on losing streak so badly on specific game. Does changing game works for you?
To change to another game isn't an assurance you are going to get rid of long loss streaks. The randomness of games' outcomes will remain the same, despite the specifc game you are playing. In fact, if you want to stop the curse of losing streak the only guaranteed alternative is to just stop gambling... From my own experience, I've already faced gambling sessions where I was unlucky in one game, so I moved to another one, but the unluckiness still pursued me to the next table. And even if I kept changing to other games, I wasn't able to overcome this bad luck, anyway.

When I identify I'm being particularly unlucky in a determined day, I just give up gambling, instead of moving myself between different house's games expecting more positive outcomes. But that is just me. Each gamble has his personal strategies, preferences and habits. You have to find out what is better for you individually. Just make sure to not spend money you can't afford to lose in the process.
471  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: April 06, 2024, 09:03:05 PM
However failure is a situation that is not desired by everyone who is running a business or business but on the other hand this is the risk that must be faced, the more you fail, the more experience and knowledge you will have until in the end some people who never give up succeed in achieving their success.
We don't have any other alternative besides trying, and even if we fail, what we have to do is to try again... That is what keeps life going on. At some point it must work and the individual may see a considerable improvement in his life. I believe self-realization doesn't consist exactly in accomplishing goals, rather it's on the process itself of completing them that the person must feel self-realized. That is, to enjoy the moment, the present time and little moments life gifts us. Even if everything went wrong in the end, at least you can have peace of mind for having tried!

That is what I think about prosperity and richness. I may not be able to overcome the inflation or not be able to consume the overpriced goods I would like to be consuming right now, but at least I'm trying to persue a better future for me and people who I would like to proportionate comfort and welfare. And by finding pleasure and peace on the very act of attempting is encouraging.
472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About running an online casino vs an offline casino on: April 06, 2024, 08:50:03 PM
1. Is running offline casinos the same as running an online casino?
No.

2. What do online casinos have to lose if they aren't making as much money as they intended?
Just like any other business, they have to close the doors if they aren't making enough income to keep the business sustainable. Some crypto online casinos have already ceased their services, but I'm not sure why they did it, since it seems unlikely their platforms weren't making profit. I believe it was due to low traffic of gamblers, generating less money than they intended, as you said.

3. With online casinos, isn't the number of hiring being limited compared to someone who wants to run an offline casino?
It depends on the number of customers they have. More customers mean the platform needs more employees. Anyway, it will be always proportional to the profit made. So, for online casinos, even if they have to hire more employees than a small offline casino, it's still a good deal, because it means they are making huge income which is pretty enough to pay everyone and still make big income for the owners.

4. Which one is more easier to manage than the other?
It also depends on the size of the casino. A small offline casino can be easier to manage than a global online platform. The pros of online casinos is the convenience of managing them, since everything is done virtually, through electronic devices, so you can work and manage the platform from anywhere where there is internet connection.

And the last question is, which one would you go for if you have the resources?
Online casino. Nowadays it's the best alternative for entrepreneurs and that is what many people are doing. If I had interest in exploring this niche of the industry I would go for a 100% digital platform. The potential customers you can achieve is also superior to offline casinos, which are pretty restricted on the range the business operates.
473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 06, 2024, 08:30:02 PM
The Big Question

Who Is Really At Fault?
I wouldn't say the victims are at fault if they are falling for scams due to being too naive to understand that isn't a legit offer. Nobody was born knowing everything, so it's expected at some point of your life you are going to be cheated by "clever" individuals who know the maliciousness of this corrupted world and don't bother deceiving others in order to feed their egos and personal needs. I guess what people have to do in these cases is to learn with scams they fall for, although who really is at fault here is the scammer, without any doubts!

If you have fallen for a Ponzi once, thinking it was a legit business, just raise your head, forget about the lost money and continue working to recover your funds, with the learnship in mind that you won't repeat the same decision in the future again. But if you repeat the same mistake, then I would say you are at fault as well, side by side with the scammer.

On the other hand, if a legit business suddenly turns into scam, it's not investors' fault. When that is the case and we end putting everyone on the same dirty basket, we are actually softening the scammer's fault, as he wasn't so bad for stealing money, since the people on the other side voluntarily gave him the money. The point is that people gave him the money with an agreement or deal in counterpart. Who didn't fulfill the agreement was the scammer, not the victims. So it's pretty easy to know who to blame.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it right to advice other people against gambling for personal reasons like?? on: April 06, 2024, 05:25:05 PM
What do you make of this, I honestly do not know but deep inside of me, I feel it's absolutely wrong to advice people against doing something, just because you did the same thing and it did not favor you..

Do you guys think it's OK to advice other gamblers to quit gambling simply because of your own bad experience, does your bad experience mean that every other gambler out there will also have the same bad experience?
I will like some really useful discussions around this topic.
I think others' experiences can help ourselves to avoid committing the same mistakes in the future. So I think it's totally valid for someone to share his personal stories in order to help others who may find themselves in the same situation later. That is why we have evolved as civilizations, because we have previous examples from our ancestors on what we should practice and what we should avoid practicing.

However, in this particular case, the judgement from the reader doesn't have to be so extreme. The man has lost all his savings through gambling. It's a good reminder for us that gambling can be dangerous and that people shouldn't use their life savings with that activity. But, is that the only way to gamble? Are every gamblers going to face the same fate? What about other gamblers' opinions on this? What factors caused him to go beyond his limits? Could that be avoided?

For that man gambling is totally discouraged, but through the answers you find, gambling may be an activity you can practice without further damage to your finances. That is why self-knowledge is so important. So you know what you should avoid and what you should embrace.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to the common man. on: April 04, 2024, 04:35:01 PM
Average men or common men who have adopted Bitcoin in previous cycles are already doing pretty well with their finances, since their small and medium investments have grown considerably since then. The opportunity was there for everyone to grab, although many just ignored the opportunity and remained struggling in life, like most people in your local socities. People complain a lot about lack of opportunities and chances to improve their lives. However, once these opportunities appear, they just neglect them, as they weren't important or worthful to be embraced. Therefore, it's their own fault after all.

Someone who invested small sums of money 6 or 8 years ago could be already cashing out nice profit at the current moment, in order to acquire their self-owned house, car or any other kind of acquisitions so they could enjoy their belongings or generate further passive income on long run. This could be a life changer for the common man, but it just didn't happen for most people... And it seems it will always be like this in this world, because people only embrace something when there is a dominant tendency on the society telling them to do so. Most people can't take authentic decisions by themselves.

And that is where many of them fail improving themselves as individuals.
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lately I've been thinking about this a lot. on: April 04, 2024, 03:55:07 PM
Now I started to think about the real life UFC, maybe this is even happening underground and we don't know? Jake and Mike Tyson's upcoming fight for example is gearing up, many believe that Mike will win, but maybe something like this will happen?
Yes, that is what we name as fixed matches. It's a pretty common phenomeon, especially in minor leagues which don't receive too much attention from public, authorities the media. Coincidentally, I saw today a video on Youtube stating there is going to be an investigation by the politicians in my country to analyze if the national sports industry is fair and legit on its results, of if the games are being fixed. I haven't watched it yet, but I will soon, because there are going to be interesting news which directly impact our bets results.

Many gamblers are placing bets on this fighter since its more reliable than you against the casino games, this is all about agility and skills, but the possibility of intent loss to make more money is also possible in this game, what's your take on this?
The possibility the favorite team or athlete loses is always present, otherwise, if the results were assured since before the game started, there wouldn't be a reason to gamble at all. When you gamble, you must be aware about the risk the match is going to be fixed. I don't believe there are any guarantees a match isn't going to be fixed, because no one is trusted on this industry, including the regulators who theoretically ensure the legitimacy of the games and their results.
477  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling kills the fun in these two cases on: April 04, 2024, 03:37:46 PM
Who says gambling can't be source of income? With enough persistence and a bit of good luck, some make tidy sums at the casinoss.  Of course, long odds mean many more walk away empty-handed and  still, that glittering chance lures many of us to try our luck.  For isn't that the main thrill of games of chance - the sheer unpredictability? The house may have the advantage but everyone knows a few epic comeback stories... Who's to say - for some, lightning may just strike twice.  Wink
It will be possible for gambling to be a source of income only for a minor percentage of the total number of gamblers. As you said, the house has the advantage, and that makes mathematically and statistically impossible for most gamblers to achieve positive results the more they play, even if they are persistent to continue playing, despite the losses faced. It can be really dangerous to be a persistent gambler, because it will lead them to further losses until hitting total bankruptcy. It's better to be a responsible gambler, instead of a persistent one.

Some people may see a responsible one as a coward and weak gambler, but that is something the gambler can't take to his heart, because the opinions others have about him shouldn't matter at all, especially when doing what others expect him to do will only cause further damage to his financial and mental health. After all, gamblers are the source of income of casinos. If the opposite was possible in large scale, casinos wouldn't have a reason to operate their businesses, as they would be unprofitable.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land Based Casinos in the Digital Age on: April 03, 2024, 07:47:14 PM
As online gambling platforms continue to grow in popularity, I’ve been wondering about the future of traditional, land based casinos. With the convenience and accessibility of online betting, will brick-and-mortar casinos become a thing of the past, or will they evolve to offer experiences that can’t be replicated online?
Not a thing of the past, but the tendency is that they lose popularity and customers the more we advance into the digital age of virtual casinos. They won't go into complete extinction, though. There are still many enthusiasts of land based casinos, especially people who still prefer living in analog system, while rejecting digital stuff the maximum as possible. There are also the ones who attend to physical casinos for fancy reasons, that is, when travelling to luxurious touristic cities where casinos are part of the local attractions.

Do you think they’ll manage to hold their ground, or will we see a shift towards exclusively digital platforms?
They will remain in less quantity, but an exclusivity for digital platforms is unlikely. Thinking about investments, it seems more profitable for casino owners to launch online platforms, instead of land based ones, since the implementation and maintenance costs are much inferior. That is what we already seeing with so many casinos apps being launched and introduced to the public, especially at sports' championships where the main sponsors are actually gambling houses.
479  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crypto Bank on: April 03, 2024, 07:05:41 PM
3. "You" have to ask for KYC from users, which will most probably scare off a big number of the potential customers.

The third point here is just about the main deal. This is because asking KYC in cryptocurrency related business is weird. We should have that feature of privacy that no one knows any of your information. Having to WILLINGLY submit KYC and even many more information is not something that I’d do. KYC scares so many people because of various reasons, which also includes data theft.
It's so common for crypto businesses to enforce KYC procedure nowadays. It was weird in the early years of this industry, although now it's already pretty usual, being weird for a business to not demand personal informations from users in order to let them use the platform's services these days. If you want to cashout crypto to fiat right now, you probably have to give your personal ID to an exchange at some point, otherwise how are you going to cashout your profits from crypto investments?

Even if you do P2P transactions, the person on the other side of the transaction will have access to your bank account's informations. Privacy is an utopia, and the risk of having your private informations leaked is a real risk 99% of crypto enthusiasts have to take, otherwise they won't be able to remain active on this industry at most platforms it has to offer to crypto adopters, since they are heavily regulated by local authorities from the countries where they offer services.

The mental health state of Joe Biden must prejudice his campaign a lot, since it's undeniable he doesn't have cognitive conditions to remain on the leadership position of the country anymore. Besides that, it's really hard to predict what american citizens are thinking right now, because the media isn't so vocal about politics anymore like they used to be in Trump's era. If I could launch a guess, I would say the average citizen is hopeless about politics and doesn't care at all cheering for one side or another, because they already know both of them, and both of them proved to be ineffective, unable to meet expectations.

If I were to bet, I would say Trump is going to win this time, as his fans seem to be more engaged than the democracts and their branch office mainstream media, which I don't even know if I can consider to be mainstream anymore, since they are pretty decaying already, while the Trumpist media is already rising in influence and dominance on the national scenario. After all, I see a polarization of liars and manipulators in both sides, which are inevitably going to drive the country in direction to chaos, consequently affecting the whole world in a scenario of pre-world war.

When you look the bigger picture in a global scale, the bet on this particular event or the money you could make from this event become meaningless...
