461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin still fork and do exchanges still keep the forks? on: February 03, 2024, 12:02:34 AM
Bitcoin itself doesn't fork, it's only correct to say that Bitcoin forked when there's a major split in the network and both are claiming to be Bitcoin. Instead you should say that people are creating altcoins by forking Bitcoin. I don't know if people still do it, probably yes, but it's irrelevant if those forks are not listed on exchanges, because you can't do anything with them. The hype around BTC forks died a long time ago, these days the hype is about Bitcoin NFTS and new altcoins.

I think they can't deal with the fact that they all fall under the altcoin umbrella, therefore, they target Bitcoin as an easy way out and call it a fork. What they seem not to understand is that whatever is not Bitcoin is definitely an altcoin and nothing more.

The extreme move by these people have obviously not proven any productive and that has killed the trend else, we would have seen tons of projects being called Bitcoin fork.

It's quite literally called a fork...bitcoin cash was a fork.  Yes it's also an alt/shitcoin etc..but it's still a fork

I mean they are considered hard forks no? I guess I see what you mean, as to not confuse people.  I'm also curious if there's ever been a soft fork.

Edit: I know this is not really supposed to be brought up, but it goes hand in hand (hope mods understand) but I'm curious about all this as for say monero and ethereum as well.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does Bitcoin still fork and do exchanges still keep the forks? on: February 02, 2024, 11:32:07 PM
I was around for the first fork, the one true bitcoin (kidding), and then there were a ton of others (really thought bitcoin pizza was going to take off  Cheesy ).. but what I don't know and can't seem to find is if it's still forking a bunch like it use to?  Also, if it is or did again, lets say you kept your coins on say Coinbase exchange (like a fool)..would they keep them like they use to?

Thx!

Anyone wanna throw a link to the lealana funding issue? As a newbie, I like to stay informed on my collectible investments.

465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon-JP Morgan CEO "Satoshi will come back and erase bitcoin" on: February 02, 2024, 09:24:51 PM
Clearly this scumbag ( with 40 BILLION dollars in fraud violations since the year 2000 https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase ) has either no clue how bitcoin works or is just simply spreading straight FUD.
Do not mind those people that knows nothing but to talk nonsense online.
I don't want to offend anyone but Jamie Dimon definitely knows more than us, he is the CEO of JP Morgan after all, it's one of the most successful bank. The problem is that he is intentionally saying bad things about Bitcoin and for a reason his words carry the weight in this world. Many people also believe what people like Jamie Dimon say because these people are good liars like politicians and people can't learn to not trust them. To be honest, the problem is in the society and not in these people.

no one really cares about anything he says, rightfully so.
It's not like that. People who know Bitcoin and many details of cryptocurrencies and crypto world, know and can judge what's true or false but here we talk about the other majority of people who don't know what Bitcoin actually is and get brainwashed by people like Jamie Dimon. He even said that Bitcoin helps money laundering while he never says that billions of dollars were and are getting laundered through his bank. You might say that no one believes what he says but ask a random guy in the street, what's used for money laundering, Bitcoin or JP Morgan.

You're not offending me because 20 years working in finance as an advisor, and in particular having worked side by side with plenty of JP Morgan Chase Banks reps/advisors/etc ...I know first hand whats what.  I mean did you not see the financial fraud violation tracker I posted in my OP?  Jamie knows more than me about finance, 100%.. but that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Black Rock Influence on: February 02, 2024, 09:17:38 PM
I have always been pro bitcoin ETF, from many years back where the discussion came from.  I do believe BlackRock is the largest fund company on the planet.  Think about this...so many clients ask their advisors for bitcoin, but when they couldn't make money off of it (like with physical precious metals) they would steer them away.  Now that they can (like precious metal ETFS) they will begin to start being okay with their clients owning some.  Its a game changer.
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 02, 2024, 09:15:06 PM
Good lord this thread was buried 4 pages deep today..a sign of the season coming to an end which legitimately does make me sad lol.  I'm kind of like Hunter S Thompson in this way (very famous author, wrote Fear and Loathing Los Vegas and others).

Anyways you guys been seeing all this stuff about Caleb Williams and my Bears?  Man I swear if he forces his way out of Chicago I will lose my mind.  I won't have rooted against someone more in my life.  I think that kid is going to be beyond special.
468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: February 02, 2024, 09:10:45 PM
If I'm being fully honest, I  think women make better at a lot of things over men as they have a natural nurturing nature that many men simply just dont have, not on their level anyhow.  I can see them being a bit more realistic with their betting as women are also often the one of the two in many relationships that take the finances more seriously.  So there's def some truth in that IMO.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: February 02, 2024, 09:00:48 PM
Absolutely you can find good gambling experts that are at a minimum at least a good way to gauge your bets, get further insight and all that good stuff.  Now of course I would never trust any gambling expert who "guarantees" profits, or just throws out way over the top stuff like "I have a 98% success rate" and things like that.  But sure, some gamblers who give tips can provide a  nice advantage.
470  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1hodlclub coins not loaded on: February 02, 2024, 03:18:18 AM
I would respect the long post 1Hodl made a lot more if he hadn’t locked it.

You say that, but is it really true?  There's a reason that makers abandon this place.  When you stand up for yourself you end up with negative trust ratings and constant harassment even if you did everything 100% correctly.  Trust me.  I have plenty of first hand experience in this area.  When the bitcointalk trolls come for you, the worst thing you can do is engage them to try and prove your innocence.  You'll end up being harassed in ways you can't imagine by mentally ill people around the globe.  I wish that weren't the case, but so long as we have a compromised default trust network this is the way it will stay.  Right now, it appears MrCryptHodl has only received 1 negative rating from someone I've already removed from my network for being a troll.  So it seems his strategy is working.

Lealana had some funding issues once with his coins and refused to address it, which lost him plenty of customers who never forgot, Despite being one of the most highly regarded names in the space. ..Advise against this strategy.

Lealana (I guess we won't mention his name) still has a good reputation though, right? Same with 1CryptHodl. I think had Lealana continued addressing what happened publicly here (I know a little bit about this as I was the escrow agent involved) he likely would have been harassed to the point of permanently leaving the forum or at the very least having his reputation tarnished in the trust network as more people discovered what happened.  I address my customers and am always transparent, which results in negative trust ratings for mentioning facts about my collectibles or offending someone (or other completely made up nonsense).  Again, without a valid DT trust network, I would advise other makers to be careful engaging complaining users here as the more of a stage you give them, the more harassment you will receive.  Warranted or not.

Trolls will be trolls , assholes will be assholes, as you know I’m neither. I chose my career because I had close family members taken advantage of by FAs after losing their spouse. Always loved finance and saw my calling, to get in to a corrupt industry and make real chsnge/help others, I’ve been doing just that for almost two decades and find it extremely rewarding. I never trolled 1Hodl, Mopar never did, LoyceV (.just being who he is, the best member on this forum and lending a hand), as well as others…simply looking out for the community. Were some people overly aggressive and jumped to conclusions..sure. But it’s easy to disprove haters if you do it graciously.

You and I always have gotten along well but cmon brotha, was Tman a raging lunatic? Fuck yes. But you gave it right back and then when not needed at times IMO.  Same thing why Owl and others. Ilm not saying they were always justified (honestly I don’t even know what it was all about as I just stayed out of it) but you didn’t have to approach things like you did at times (same goes for the others). Your wars on here coulda been over long before they were snd no maker has been at it like that w others before. Hey I get it I’m a hot head, but at times you gotta say f em and move on. No other maker has gotten in to it with the community like you have , not even close (again justifiable at times) and not even with clients or having to do w collectibles, but what do you expect then..it’s like Israel and Palestine. No one wins when both sides can’t move on,  not hating here, I have none for you, we’ve buds for damn near a decade now ( saying this 3 hours b4 my 40th makes me feel stupid old  Cry

No, I would not agree that Lealans has a good reputation anymore, not overall, Refusal to address the key issues (hardly took any shit for that btw), refuses to help past clients with anything at all, despite still an active maker, (I don’t think super highly of Caldwell for the same reason, and others as I’ve been vocal about here before),  I completely snd utterly disagree with your stance about addressing concerns. Am I a troll? Is Krogo? Plenty of us here just need answers from makers at times, once they are provided you’d see me walk away. Otherwise I’ll come at them till the end off their business (see Cold Storage Coins for reference).

The maker's I’ve held in the highest regard address issues, work with disgruntled customers, understand proving their “innocence”, st times is simply part of running a business,  ( I called out BTCPrnny who wrote me a very kind DM , and seems to be working hard towards transparency and making things right, That’s how a maker with issues should be, and will support him when he makes all right,

This hobby simply needs revamped, something I’ve discussed in depth w Makers like Alpen and Kialara who get that..jump on board is my advice to makers,

OG remember when I posted about “why did all the OG collectors leave”. You mentioned it being because of tolls…i now know why completely…there’s been one scam after another and it keeps going on because people just accept it’.It then forces collectors to cap their collections. After Yogg , someone I considered a very close friend..fucked myself, owl, mbitr, snd Xprim his closest friends on earth over ..that was when I realized everything HAS to change ..or else history will just keep repeating itself
471  Economy / Collectibles / Re: New “United Crypto States” 1oz Silver physical bitcoin piece on: February 02, 2024, 02:21:01 AM
The company is what’s wrong. Shady fucks. Never an answer for why a Sol Noctis Bull had coins moved off and back on within a day I think it was. Lots more on this but too lazy to type it out or pull it up where it was discussed.

Cool coins? Absolutely! But their cheesy ass descriptions and websites turn me off. Guaranteed they don’t have a money transmission license. Repeating the Sol Owl and Bull is a turn off as well. I simply refuse to do bizz with companies that are shady even a tiny bit. It’s never necessary.
472  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: February 01, 2024, 12:33:37 PM
If AI actually existed you’d not know the post was “AI” written. It’s mostly easy to spot “AI” posts because they are almost always shit. why? Because legit AI, or AGI will be self learning, it won’t have to pull data from the web, mash it together, reorganize and spit back out ..like it does now. Thats all this “AI” is. Advanced programming, absolutely..massive changing tech, no.  Nobody wants to read posts like this just like we get sick of articles written by these programs, as they are almost always ..shit.

Maybe the best explanation I’ve read about this - https://www.newyorker.com/science/annals-of-artificial-intelligence/there-is-no-ai
473  Economy / Collectibles / WTB/WTT For - Keyois Capsule on: February 01, 2024, 11:27:33 AM
As title states.  I remember seeing the maker selling these live some 5 years or so back, but never grabbed one..so interested in a purchase or trade..thx

474  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Smart Contracts ..where are we now in their advancement ? on: February 01, 2024, 10:21:45 AM
I’m always on the lookout for updates/breakthroughs for a two party escrow via btc as Satoshi proposed (and mentioned in my OP here).

I saw some exchange claiming to offer such service recently but realized it wasn’t legitimate once I dug in, nor could I find any that were (that I know of).

I then came across this paper (  https://www.cs.princeton.edu/~arvindn/publications/cryptocurrency-escrow.pdf ) and spent time going through it all. I thought it was new, until realizing this was created years ago. I know what’s proposed here is not “it” as Gmax spoke to this topic in this thread after this paper was published (in which he’s also cited multiple times in) and there was no solution as of then. So I’m curious about two things…is this on the right track…maybe such as Szabo was with Bit Gold ..a strong bitcoin precursor but with known flaws (double spending for ex), or is it just way off base entirely ? I don’t understand a lot of it but trying to learn!

Also, can anyone speak to the credibility of Steven Goldfeder ?
475  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1hodlclub coins not loaded on: February 01, 2024, 09:02:05 AM
I would respect the long post 1Hodl made a lot more if he hadn’t locked it. If you have nothing to hide, be open and transparent. It’s not only a way to clear things up, but it’s also a way to prove naysayers wrong and shed positive light/vibes on your brand. I also take a bit of offense to the whole “playing detective” part.  By “playing detective” I’ve helped prevent scams, prevented people from being further scammed and held coin makers publicly accountable.. which has resulted in some instances of people regaining assets they paid for but don’t have (even if it’s only at a 40% rate or whatever). I don’t enjoy playing Inspector Gadget, but  it’s something that needs to be done. I appreciate how involved so many got with doing that for these coins, which is not a result of wanting to defame the maker, but people thankfully becoming more aware of the importance of just making sure and acting quickly. One thing we can thank Titan and Yogg for.

I am amazed that makers are still feeling pressure from clients to continue making key generated pieces. Wake the fuck up is all I can say to who fall in that camp. Learn from those who’ve been around for years. Learn from past mistakes, and don’t repeat them. It would seem quite a few don’t understand why schools worldwide teach history. It’s not just trusting the maker with generating keys properly, it’s also to prevent scammers from making fakes and selling them as real /maker funded. (There’s a lot more to this but at a high level).

Anyways I wish for things to get cleared up, people made whole who deserve to be, and the maker prospers going forward (albeit with some changes needing made, including reconsidering not marketing here because the community “asks too many questions”. Physical bitcoins started here on this forum and yeah it’s got its share of assholes, but many just simply mean to look out for others…it comes with the territory.

Lealana had some funding issues once with his coins and refused to address it, which lost him plenty of customers who never forgot, Despite being one of the most highly regarded names in the space. ..Advise against this strategy.
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaurd yourself this year against crypto scams on: January 30, 2024, 04:28:38 PM
Lot of really good suggestions and points you make here.  However I can't agree that you should "only" invest in bitcoin.  Yes, it's the king of all cryptocurrency coins, but there's other coins that I don't view as rivals that are worth looking in to (Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin etc).

As as for not listening to "influencers" I would certainly almost entirely agree with you there but there area few whom are knowledgeable and decent.
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon-JP Morgan CEO "Satoshi will come back and erase bitcoin" on: January 30, 2024, 04:25:46 PM
This man thinks that he understands Bitcoin better than the Bitcoin community itself and does not think that the institution he leads is much more dirty, manipulative and disgusting than Bitcoin. He thought that JP Morgan would forever be a strong and stable banking institution, even though it was only a matter of time before the institution would go bankrupt.

Let's see who will survive, JP Morgan or Bitcoin.

the way i view J.Dimons emotions towards bitcoin is not a new strategy, its just a old strategy used on a new asset/commodity class(bitcoin)

the same way wheat commodity traders view natural organic wheat
the commodity traders prefer monsanto GMO wheat locked into stocks to trade futures and distribution with big corporations. controlling the market

they call natural wheat plague wheat, they hate local farmers market,  saying family farms should not grow, farm, harvest natural wheat unless they have permits/licences and meet X standards... as organic wheat is competition of neighbourhoods buying real wheat, which takes customers away from commodity traders that want people to buy investments into their GMO wheat. the commodity traders love to call the EPA to regulate organic farming, applying EPA regulations in preference to commodity traders needs, and to penalise family farmers that just want to grow, harvest, trade the real wheat.

Thanks for sharing this, that's a pretty good comparison you made there. I of course couldn't agree more.

I fully think Jamie is very well aware of what he's saying and why he's saying it.  I wouldn't compare him to say Warren Buffett, whom I believe is just truly ignorant of bitcoin as a whole as he's not willing to sit down and do any homework on it, versus Jamie surely has.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does casino streamers have influence in your gambling life? on: January 30, 2024, 04:22:42 PM
If anything it's just the opposite.  I used to semi follow a few gambling streamers on like YouTube and Instagram, but the only reason I did was because they were also in to cryptocurrency (more specifically bitcoin) and so I liked that they would discuss the combination of the two.  I don't listen much anymore and just prefer to do my own homework outside of watching other peoples videos online.
479  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 30, 2024, 04:21:03 PM
Yeah I think this is one of the biggest mistakes gamblers make, is not doing their homework ahead of time.  I even find myself a bit guilty of it at times.  Like recently on a gambling site I was playing Poker / Texas Hold'em and I was betting in accordance to how I am use to playing, but the rules were different and I ended up losing a good bit by simply not reading them. So shame on me.
480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 30, 2024, 04:18:32 PM
Well I lost all of my bets this past weekend (edit: I did hit on the over for Lamar 19.5 rushing yards)  I knew going in to the games that I wasn't feeling super strong about them.  The week before and the week before that I felt pretty confident. Now for the Super Bowl I honestly have no idea how I'm going to bet this one.  On one hand the Niners are a much better team all around.  They've got 4 all pro caliber weapons on offense.  Then again you've got Mahomes on the other end and maybe ya'll have heard but he's okay at football lol.

@everyone (all the regulars anyhow) if you guys are interested in bein part of a Super Bowl squares games let me know.  Either going to do $5 or $10 per square.
