4601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Coming next week-- the world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: June 07, 2012, 04:10:10 PM
Tony, thanks for the comment. I've heard this argument before even with other projects like Yifu's tablet but ultimately all that matters is what consumers want and what the product can do.

All obvious security benefits aside, I don't think the arguement of consumers not wanting multiple devices has ever had any merit. One need look no further than iPod to see that. Mobile phones have the same mp3 playing functionality, but proper branding, marketing and a feature list made it a household device all across the world.

Let the free market decide!

ipod sales have been declining for years my friend.  phones are the trend.

Sounds like it's time for a new trend ^_-

So what you are counting on is becoming a greater huckster than Apple?  You certainly do need to raise many more millions of dollars in funds... or maybe you can choose a larger font for your announcements. ( and you didn't answer BadBear's question, "What is coming next week?" )
I can't see the market deciding for this over an app they can put on their phone.

voted 137. buying bitcoins has a strong lead. Smiley

It was that when I voted.  Maybe you can vote all you want... they just don't record more than one vote per person.   Wink
4603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin userbars on: June 06, 2012, 04:37:05 PM
since when some users have pictures in there sig
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=32204
Because they are grandfathered in; if they go edit their sig, they will find that the images have been erased and can't be had back. When theymos decided to ban sig images, he didn't want to go erase all existing images, so they just get erased when the sig gets changed.

I don't disagree that it is good to discourage the use of very large, and multiple, images like in that example. Isn't it possible, with this forum software, to restrict the image size in signatures to something small and unobtrusive like those 19px high userbars?

But anyway, don't people on forums like this ever frequent other forums where you see those kinds of userbars (I have seen them on gamer sites and sites related to movies, tv, and popular culture... e.g. anime)? It just seemed to me to be a better way of subtly spreading the word about bitcoin. Rather than an in-your-face marketing approach intended to actively influence others ideas and behaviors, which so often annoys, it is more about personal expression, "These are some of my favorite things".

Rather than turning others off it may possibly leave space for curiosity and open-mindedness to arise. Rather than making people feel like they are being told to do something (even a rather innocuous phrase like "ask me about bitcoin" is still a command  Wink  ), it may allow them to approach it themselves, as something they have chosen to do on their own.

"Bitcoin? What is that I wonder? Some kind of money? I like money... let me investigate."

Unlike some I don't consider the vast majority of the population to be sheep, even on those type of sites I mentioned, it just seems like that with the poor signal-to-noise ratio, and it is those non-bleaters with minds of their own that it would be good to have join us.    Smiley

Problem is you can't use them here... Images in sigs are disallowed.

Which is why I said, "For use on forums where such things are popular."

Why would anyone need to use them here? They are not meant for preaching to the choir.   Wink
4606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin userbars on: June 05, 2012, 10:56:22 PM
Those are very busy and very hard to read on my monitor.

Such is the nature of userbars. They can perhaps have a kinda subliminal effect.

For use on forums where such things are popular.

See all I've made so far here.

A few examples:

Some of them animated together:

Example showing it animated together with other userbars:

( that userbars.be site lets you create such animations )

Feel free to offer any suggestions for any new ones that might be good to create.

There are a lot of music genres between those extremes of "gay" and psychotic.   lol

Sure. It's called Country Wink

"Hey, you know something people? I'm not black, but there's a whole lots a times I wish I could say I'm not white."

"Most people wouldn't know good music if it came up and bit them in the ass."

4609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend's band... on: June 04, 2012, 08:05:55 PM
First off, what genre of music is this ?

I am only willing to donate if they are either a Metalcore or Melodic Death Metal band (think: Trivium, All That Remains, It Dies Today).
Hardcore/Post-Hardcore are also options that I would strongly consider (Hatebreed, Refused...even Slipknot)

As long as it's nothing gay like any of that 'Computer-Crap' or this-'step' that-'step' kinda trash that can only be truly enjoyed by someone high on Ecstasy, wearing a glow-stick lanyard-made necklace, sucking on a soother.

There are a lot of music genres between those extremes of "gay" and psychotic.   lol

4610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: suggestions on www.fiveminutecoin.com on: June 04, 2012, 07:54:02 PM
Does it work fine for all of you now?

I just tried it and it didn't work the way it is supposed to.  I checked out the ads until the display went to 0.01 and I then waited for the timer to run down but it didn't change to 0.02 and stayed at 0.01. The submitting of my address and using the captcha worked. I will see later how much got sent to me.

It is like it is supposed to be.. If you have 0.01 there is only a chance to double this amount.. the longer you stayed on advertisers the higher the chance to double 0.01 Wink

Ah, okay. You should perhaps be more clear in your "how it works" section.

Changing this:
"Buy staying the whole 5 Minutes you double the actual amount."

to perhaps this:
By staying the whole 5 minutes you double the amount from 0.0025 to 0.005.
If you got it to go to 0.01 by visiting ads you have a chance to double it to 0.02 after those 5 minutes.

4612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VirtEx in Canada is down on: June 02, 2012, 04:50:42 PM
I have never seen it down, at least not recently, and I have the order book opened all the time while I am working on the computer and refresh it often throughout the day.

But what I would like to know is... who is that Mr. 2.54
filling up the order book and making it less useful with garbage like this:

May 29, 2012, 10:08 p.m.    2.54/2.54    5.20000    13.21 CAD
etc...

 Angry

Yes that guy is a goof, he actually thinks it puts people in the dark.

I encourage you to use this link to find his top major bid, and slide your bid under it.

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/virtexCAD_depth.html

In this case douchebag is 500 coins at 5.22..   so slide it under... Smiley

2.54 is a moron...

You mean (s)he floods the order book so orders of others are not visible via cavirtex site?

(s)he's probably trying to minimize fees
cuz ya 10cents on a 200$ order makes all the difference...

last time I checked the fees for trading were .6% when sold. So putting sell orders of 2.54 would overall pay the same fees as all of them put together.

I was wondering if it was someone with a poorly written bot.
4613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: suggestions on www.fiveminutecoin.com on: June 02, 2012, 04:26:40 PM
Tried it again and I had the same problem as I reported earlier in this post:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=82648.msg928916#msg928916

This time I was sure I entered the captcha correctly as it was very clear. It is always six characters, any letters being lowercase, right?
I tried it a few times and it still said I entered it incorrectly so I refreshed it and tried it again and it gave this message:
"sorry.. your btcaddress exeeded the limit.. try again in 12 hours!"

I was just thinking the other day that a good twitter trend to try and get started would be #IuseBitcoin

e.g.
#IuseBitcoin to buy drugz anonymously online

#IuseBitcoin to cut out the middle man

If you send me your ip you can try again..

That's okay. I can wait.
4616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: suggestions on www.fiveminutecoin.com on: June 01, 2012, 04:13:54 PM
Please try to clear your cache.. if it doesnt change anything please tell it to me again..

Cleared the cache and waited just the 50sec for the 0.0025. That worked.  Will have to wait the 12hrs to try the 5min wait.
4617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: suggestions on www.fiveminutecoin.com on: June 01, 2012, 04:05:22 PM
Just trying your site again. I let it time down to get the 0.005 but this time when I input my address and fill in the captcha and press submit it does not nothing. No messages or anything.
