I'm just waiting for him to proof read the article, and then he can post it.
I'd love to get a similar article about Venezuela, but that may be even more sensitive. Maybe I'll do one about Brexit. I'll have to explain how man created unicorns to enslave horses first though.

You don't need a static IP as has been stated. I run a couple of nodes over public WiFi, but the problem that I have is that not all WiFi services allow you to access port 8333.

The iMerits project awards merits for new and junior members who provide information to other members.
In this thread we ask you to explain why some new coins create a fork from the original Bitcoin chain. We don't want you to to discuss specific coins, but to explain the commercial logic or other reasons for these forks.
As usual, this thread is self moderated, and will be kept spam and bounty free. sMerits will be awarded for the best answers.

I was really looking for Bitcoin and crypto related posts. Also your posts had a slightly uncomfortable English structure. They are good enough to understand, but you may want to improve the flow. If you care to join fit to talk, we'd be happy to help you with that.

I'm probably jumping ahead a bit. What I am hoping for is a decent detailed post that will stimulate some discusion, and I'm probably making it over complex. Anyway FH seems to think the current project is OK, so I just need the approval of the originator, and we are good to go.

I seem to remember a mention of a sub-domain that could be used for posting articles, but I've never managed to find it.
It would need to allow the use of css and html, and accept ftp transfers.

That's a good idea, and it is one of the things i considered. The main difficulty is that you can't format the page to improve legibility. Attempting to format a post actually reduces its legibility in most cases imho.

I've quite enjoyed working on the Nicaraguan post, and that will appear on the political board in a day or two. It's length is knocking on the limit for a thread post in my opinion, and this led me to think of another idea for future projects. The danger is that some dick head will quote the whole post, and another one will quote him. Also, there are no images included in the post. So how can we expand the size of the article and include it in a post for discussion?
I can host the page on one of my servers, but, as the article will be the idea of another Bitcoin Talk member, it might be better if it was kept in Bitcoin Talk. Is there somewher here where the page can be loaded, and then linked to in the opening post of a thread?

As some of you know, I'm running through the alphabet with sMerit projects, and here is the belated bMerit thread.
It is open for beginners and Juniors, and you should post about your activity today. Don't make advice topics, but just post about something you have done, or are doing. This can be starting a node, getting a transaction confirmed at very low cost, pruning your node or any other similar topic. Only discuss Bitcoin or the other major cryptos such as Litecoin, Bcash, Lightning etc.
No bounty, airdrop, ICO, ANN or trading advertising. No general comments about price either
It's self-moderated, so I will delete any low value comments or sig spamming.

I gave you 5 sMerits under my cMerits scheme. You need to review your opinion of Amazon though. Many consider they were the cause of the demise of Toys r Us, following a marketing agreement that Amazon used to sell against the company, rather than helping it. Amazon is a major globalist organisation, and a very destructive force in national economies. A lot of the other members' posts talk about ICOs and airdrops, and I don't encourage those.

I think you've laboured the point enough. Everybody knows about grammarly and Google translate, and much of the advice about earning merit here states that you should avoid their use. Anyway, I put you on ignore so that I can skip this thread.

I think it is sad that people still don't understand the concept of merit. It's purpose is to improve the overall quality of the forum, and merits should be awarded to encourage posting to achieve this end. They aren't there to help beggars to get their next packet of cigraettes, or to enhance their wedding tackle. It's very discouraging to put some effort into a project, and to feel that it is wasted or ignored. Awarding merits is one way for the community to say thank you. Even better is to make encouraging comments. Without these, one doesn't know if one misunderstands the community needs or interests.
Are merits wasted if they are given to legendary merit sources? If you think of them as a form of currency, then the answer is yes. If you think of them as a form of feedback, then they aren't. Obviously I'm including myself in that category, so let me say that constructive, helpful comments are more useful than merits, and enable me to build or drop an idea. However, many heroes and legendaries are helpful in the tech sections, and I think it is important to show them appreciation. Don't forget that a merited post is an example to a new member, and the posters rank doesn't matter.

Yes , it's really hard to earn merit. Not just posting quality post here in btt but I suggest try to create helpful article. I think that is best way to earn merit and also sharing Informative news.
I gave you a couple of merits under my cMerit project, and this will let you rank up. These are for a variety of your posts on the Bitcoin discssion board, unfortunately my visits there are very infrequent.

There are so many initiatives here to help members, that posting a tired old link to an American grammar site is no longer revolutionary. All it does is to show that you aren't reading the threads here.

How is going the @drgomez post?
It's progressing. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) It's taken a bit longer because I underestimated the difficulty. Also I'm sanitising the text, and having to do a bit of research to clarify a few points. I created a page on one of my spare domains, and I built a two column page to simplify the conversion, and also to run it by Flying Hellfish before it is posted. I won't post the link here, as it contains the original text, but the link is in the chatroom and on los caobos. Having to use two computers and my own domain has restricted me to McDonalds as well, and that doesn't help. @squatz1 - you guessed the problem. The text mentions many people allegedly killed by the police, and I think one needs to be circumspect in discussing topics like this on the modern Internet.

congratulations you just merited someone who has been advertising that ICO. that account was created to literary advertise it. 95% of its 43 posts in 14 days of its lifetime was about that ICO and the account was thrown away as it already had its usage. the token is nearly dead today too. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Well this shows that we need to take some action to help people to award merits. So far in this thread, I've got a couple or three members that I've got on ignore, and some posters who have submitted lists with the first post promoting ICOs. I don't really have time to do an analysis of every member before awarding merits, and I just have to go by appearances if I haven't got them on ignore. The paucity of replies in this thread would seem to indicate that most Juniors don't think that they have made any decent posts anyway. Maybe I should stop wasting time hunting for posts, and just award them for my various projects, and posts that I happen to come across whilst I am reading interesting threads.

I normally contrast my data totals against yours to double-check mine, and they always coincide except for this week. To cut a long story short, I’ve got 150 sMerits less due to those three merit transfers that were exceptionally reversed by theymos last week (awarded from this profile: Elwar). Well it is good news that Theymos is doing this. btw, It looks as if they were deleted, and not reversed. That's even better. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

This has been discussed numerous time before. and post like thatr one of mine are also abundant.
Maybe I should create a guide topic. These would be the first rules.
1. Read the stickies before posting. 2. Stay away from bounties- don't talk about them, or even read about them. 3, Read the stickies 4. Don't bother about signatures until you achieve member rank 5. Read the stickies. 6, Stay out of the underworld - ICOs ANN threads and the like. 7. Read the stickies 8. Read a thread if you are going to reply to it, and stay on topic. 9 ..............
ps. Did I say that you should read the stickies on any board before you post on it.?
