4601  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Big Dump on: February 16, 2021, 07:42:10 PM
Might've been shitcoins. Come to think of it, almost every single decent altcoin is just going up(slightly in BTC, mostly in USD) that it would need to take spectacularly bad picks to lose money in this bull market lol. Heck, even the crappiest BSV is up in USD since the past month.
I believe OP was talking about Bitcoin. It's obvious that he panic sold his share when he felt Bitcoin was dumping.

OP, do yourself a great favour — Go and learn the set skills for trading. Just as people learn how to fly planes and become pilots, so also people learn how to trade and become traders. Knowing that won't make you panic at every market correction and call it a dump. Trading isn't gambling. Don't just dabble into it. Be sure it's where you want to be.

4603  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Applying for a lower member rank - read what popular managers say. on: February 16, 2021, 12:18:22 AM
I like it when managers make it specific to ranks (choosing from the ranks asked for), especially when it has to do with the low ranked members. I have often made that observation on several counts here (on other threads) as I believe low ranked members don't often get a chance at campaigns like higher ranked accounts do. It feels disgusting for me when Legendary members apply to slots asking for category lower than a Hero rank. Well, whatever the justifications are for such "self" debased decision I wouldn't know except that I see it as desperation on the part of the applicant. I don't blame the managers if they decide to pick from such higher rank while ignoring the requested rank. But I blame the higher ranked fellows for not acting the big brother part by allowing the low ranked members that opportunity.

4605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the Ethereum killer? on: February 14, 2021, 01:49:16 PM
EOS transaction volume capacity beats ETH. NEO, XTZ and ADA were all thought to be ETH killers. Which of them has really succeeded?
The Binance Smart Chain (BSC) looks like it's more than the tokens you just listed above because of CZ's innovative mind in the crypto space. At least he has shown what he can achieve with an exchange he set up in 2017 now leading the chart. Personally, I will be happy if any token can give the ETH team a nightmare and get more new projects to its own chain. Just take a look at the extortion in gas fee going on in the ETH network, and tell me you're happy with the development. Are you? This is why we need a diversion that can prove to ETH that it isn't after all indispensable.
4606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When will the Ethereum Gas Fee go down? on: February 14, 2021, 06:02:40 AM
Honestly I have chewed on this too and wondered who are those still buying ETH and making its value climb despite the extortion going on there in the name of gas fee. It's crazy and that's making little transactions impractical to be carried out. I think projects should begin to divert to Waves or the Binance chain. Miners at ETH are beginning to act larger than life with their monetary preoccupation. The earlier the better to save small projects because no one knows when this extortion will stop. I have a few thousands of a token I want to swap on Metamask but the gas fee  is higher than the entire quantity I want to swap. It's such a pity.
4607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com announces Israel Adesanya as their Global branded ambassador on: February 13, 2021, 06:44:19 PM
The one thing I have come to associate with Adesanya a few years since I first watched a couple of his past fights is his flexibility with kicks. I once watched him where he got floored mistakenly and the dude rose from the ground without touching the floor. That was really fantastic and shows strength. It was even because of him (may be the countryman connection) that I had the guts to watch a few UFC fights. That sport is a little messy for me because of the kicks and bloody noses therein. I think this collaboration is more of a win for the Stake.com team than for Adesanya because Adesanya is a big and self marketing brand already. I hope he got a nice deal of it, anyway.
4608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 investment strategies to make Bitcoin less stressful on: February 12, 2021, 10:43:50 PM
OP forgot the golden rule, never keep your coins on an exchange.

Always remember, not your keys, not your Bitcoin! Smiley
That isn't actually a golden rule because it's almost impossible for traders not to keep their coins on exchanges. How do you trade if you don't do that? Those who advocate not keeping one's coins on exchanges are either not being truthful to reality on ground or don't simply understand how trading works. BTW, how do you save your hodlings from dwindling during a crash if you've them on a private wallet, since you can't tether them on private wallet. How do you do that?

I think the golden rule should be — Not your keys, not your Bitcoin!
4609  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigerian Bitcointalk Community Hangout. {Current topic: NIN & Local board} on: February 12, 2021, 07:19:46 PM
This is stake news, everybody are going p2p so far cryptocurrencies are not totally banned.

Well, dem use the crypto search on accounts so if any account be get any shimkpa with crypto na gbenge be dat nor matta whether na P2P or not. 4611  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Bitamp Signature Campaign | Full Members - $25/Week on: February 12, 2021, 09:29:24 AM
Snip>
Honestly, I don't know what these high ranked members who do that stand to gain (if not desperation), knowing full well that full members and below hardly get a chance at campaigns as most Bitcoin paying campaigns exclude them. Senior and higher ranks have campaigns thrown at them week in week out. They should stop being selfish and allow the crumbs to fall off them for others to pick.
4612  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Nigeria local board on: February 12, 2021, 08:01:42 AM
As outlined in the OP, Bitcoin discussion, altcoin discussion and off topic board will be a great start.
Pmalek, I guess that above 👆 answers your advice on "talk amongst yourselves to determine which sections you would like to have"

The truth is that we have the numbers, not just on the Africa continent as the most populated country but also here on the forum (though I don't know the accurate number here). There are many Nigerians scattered across this forum and we need to bring everyone on board in a microcosm to maintain our unity on this Bitcoin story to further advance its awareness and show of solidarity to other Nigerians who may be panicking at a time like this with that senseless ban on cryptocurrencies from the Nigeria political bank — CBN.

I am sure theymos would've seen this thread. We await him doing the needful. Nigerians are an enterprising lot. Only our politicians are lazy and wicked. Those of us here are not the politicians.
4613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doggy take over — Elon Musk? on: February 11, 2021, 07:19:18 PM
This is impossible or I will say, has less chance. There is no strong support that can back up the rise of Dogecoin if no special tweet happened. And the reality, I doubt a great number of different people actually buy the coin but mostly, big individuals just bought a lot of bags.
"Never say never" should be everyone's watch word. There is no certitude to these things. If anyone told you a few years ago that Bytebal would be a fallen token today would you've believed it or that Walton will sell below a dollar today? People buy certain things either from awareness or share lack of it other than for the cheap price. As a crypto noob in 2017, Dogecoin was among the first three coins I bought during my frenzy to try my hand on crypto that year. I bought it for reason of two things — it was among the top coins on the CMC then, secondly the price was very cheap. I didn't even know what its hub or team or road map or white paper was all about. I guess it's the same way a lot of people will be buying it now too. If you look at Bitcoin, I am sure not even up to 5% of those who use it has read the white paper. I hope Dogecoin continues to soar.
4614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Doggy take over — Elon Musk? on: February 11, 2021, 06:36:49 PM
In the past two days Dogecoin has experienced a very sharp and large increase, but for today I see Dogecoin has experienced a slight decline in price even though it is not that sharp, but I feel that this will not last long on the Dogecoin token.
I have a hunch that since 2021 is a crypto year Dogecoin will gradually continue to rise even if Elon doesn't tweet about it again. This we have seen in the past few days even after it relapsed to 5cents after the pump it is gradually going up back to 8cents. If only it can do another 100%. I have often wondered myself if it would be possible to put a limit to the total supply of doge and then burn the excess tokens to increase market price. If this is ever done we will see doge moon uncontrollably.
4615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenya’s Central Bank Moves to Adopt Bitcoin on: February 11, 2021, 01:51:17 PM
Banks and bitcoins are incompatible for me.
Yeah I know, but adopting it shows a legal backing for it and encourages citizens to indulge it. How do you compare the Kenya news on Bitcoin and that from the CBN of Nigeria a few days ago? Which would you rather prefer? Of course, your answer will convincingly tilt towards Kenya. But the regrettable truth is that the Nigeria CBN banning Bitcoin and other crypto activities won't stop Nigerians from trading those assets, it will only make government lose revenue that ordinarily should be accruing from tax on the assets. I like what Kenya is trying to do.
4616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why was Musk so late to the party? / or Publically support BTC on: February 11, 2021, 01:19:23 PM
Musk was involved with paypal, and has access to a lot of high tech and high tech advisors.

Why then was he so late to support BTC?
Maybe he was scared of John McAfee  Roll Eyes

On a more serious note, Elon's thing isn't just with Bitcoin. He has been shilling for Dogecoin too. Perhaps, he didn't want any distractions from his innovative electric autos until now. He knows the power of influence, and influence got from wealth. Elon Musk is the current richest being on planet earth. He knows whatever he says now will be taken seriously. That's why he's becoming outspoken now. He waited for his time and now is the right time to make his statement.
4617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can Dogecoin reach 1$ soon? on: February 11, 2021, 12:03:17 PM
Well, like what I've said, this is just a meme coin, no utility, no usage
What do you mean by no utility and usage when the coin(though a meme coin) is used for payment and gambling? Do you truly understand what utility means? Well, Dogecoin getting to $1 will surely be a great miracle because its supply is very huge. The total supply isn't even known. A project with an infinite supply like Dogecoin is difficult to pull up well. This is what has kept Doge down all that while until Elon came on the scene. Except there will be coin burning, and only that will make its price fly on its own. On a subjective mood, I would like for Dogecoin to even get to $5, and I guess you know why  Grin
4618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Digital rights lawyers sue CBN, SEC over bitcoin prohibition on: February 11, 2021, 08:04:21 AM
but with bitcoin it's just a matter of minutes.
Well, that was in the past as it takes longer now to have a transaction confirmed. I have had transactions stuck for over 48hrs on several deals. It's a shame that delayed transactions are now a common thing with Bitcoin.

In a sane society what the OP put out there about a lawsuit would gladden the minds of many because justice would be served at the end. But OP, you and I know that Nigeria is a peculiar country with no respect for rule of law and of the courts. Politicians choose what court orders to obey and that's to the ones that favour them. However, the good thing here is that Bitcoin has come to stay; whether anyone likes it or not. Nigeria is only shooting itself in the foot with that ban action.
4619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost phone with bitcoin wallet on: February 11, 2021, 06:12:34 AM
I was very unfortunate to have lost a phone that had bitcoin sitting in the wallet. I was foolish and did not back the wallet up. I am wondering if there is any way to get my bitcoin at this point? I should also mention that I lost this phone 2 years ago and the lost bitcoin is now worth about 60k so whatever I could do to get it back.

Any advice is extremely welcome.

Certainly, the way you feel about your lost Bitcoin now is the same way a lot of folks will feel about Dogecoin a few months now. On the advice thing, it's sad to let you know that nothing can be done about you recovering your lost Bitcoin since you don't have a backup or can't remember your private key. It may not have been stolen for the person who picked your lost phone may not even have known about Bitcoin or how to harvest it. But if none of you doesn't get it, the Bitcoin is lost forever.

Next time OP (and others too who fall into this category), always have a security lock on your phone. That way, anyone who steals your phone can't assess your vitals on it. If whoever steals your phone flashes the phone, all stored docs on it will be wiped off and that gets you assured that only you still can restore your files and apps. Also, always back up your stuff offline. Writing them down on papers will do. It's as simple as that.
4620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel, Looking at the Bullrun market? on: February 10, 2021, 08:34:14 PM
Apart from all the crazy stuff going on with Ethereum (which is sad to say the least, anyway), I am enjoying this momentous Bitcoin bull run. Of course, anyone who doesn't have any drop of Satoshi or those who sold too early thinking they could buy back at a dump will be the ones not feeling happy ATM. For me, the joy isn't just with Bitcoin rally but with the awareness that at a time like this alts also pick up in price and exposure to more investors. We are back to the good old days in crypto. In fact, 2021 is looking already as the best year for Bitcoin.
