4621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in bitcoins for future kids on: May 04, 2021, 10:13:50 PM
As a matter of fact, I have a friend who did exactly that; some years ago he bought 1 BTC for his kid (who was toddler back then) and he plans to give him BTC when he reaches 18. How situation is developing, kid might get a million dollar gift when he turns 18 Cheesy

Now it's of course impossible for many of us to do something like that, but I dont think that's a bad idea to buy a little bit when you can and set it a side for your kid.
4622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Doge Success Force Bitcoin to Improve on: May 04, 2021, 10:09:17 PM
I used to see Doge as a funny meme coin, but after Elon Musk got involved, it's nothing but a pump and dump coin. At this point, I honestly wouldn't touch Doge with a ten-foot pole. So no, I don't think that Doge will force or bring any kind of improvement to either BTC or crypto market in general. If anything, it's one step backward.
4623  Economy / Services / Re: Help with Telegram promotion on: May 04, 2021, 09:30:11 PM
These types of services lead to the Telegram channel being flooded with news about how great a project is, which are mostly copy-paste, or conversations between two accounts about how much they like the project. Anyone who sees something like this will be sure that it is a purchased service.
Yep. Its so easy to recognize TG group that is using services OP is advertising. Worst of all, all these boths and inflated number of members in Telegram groups lead to the situation that if some group has only few thousands of members, people are suspicious and think that there is something wrong with it.  In the end, even legit groups inflate the numbers just to appear as any any other groups.
4624  Other / Meta / Re: Spending smerits as you earn them. on: May 04, 2021, 01:25:39 PM
Do you do the same or how do you do it?
At first, I used to try to always have at least 5-10 merit to share just in case I stumble upon some really good posts, but later on I gave up on that so now I just spend as I get them so now I generally don't have merits to share for more than a day or two. Just see no reason to keep them.

I used to bookmark good posts too and merited them after I got some, but also kinda stopped with that practice as it's pretty easy to find merit worthy posts if you are active enough.
4625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why people are scared to use their crypto? on: May 04, 2021, 10:43:39 AM
I honestly don't know with with kind of people you interact, but the ones I know  that are talking about financial freedom etc are not scared to pay something using crypto, and are perfectly aware of all the risks  of not having safety net when you are sending crypto to someone.

Someone on my local board got stolen (€1340) on their meeting. The seller literally took the cash and started running on the street!

Damn that's crazy. What happened in the end, did they manage to catch the thief?
4626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin no longer relevant? on: May 04, 2021, 10:38:14 AM
Is Ethereum and other altcoins taking over and replacing Bitcoin?
If so, how fast will this happen?
As everything in crypto happens in cycles, so its the same case with this ETH and other altcoins price increase. Back in early 2018 BTC dominance fell to 38%, and eventually it went up above 70% again. Now we are seeing the same thing, BTC price is going sideways for some time, that gives alts more room to breathe, therefore decreasing BTC dominance which is currently approximately 48%.

So, even if BTC dominance falls below 40%, it doesn't mean that BTC is not relevant anymore, it is just a cycle and sooner or later people will take the profits from their alcoins and put it back into BTC, which is much safer in the long run.

As for Ethereum, they aren't even in the same category. Both are trying to do different things.
Exactly this, ETH and BTC can perfectly coexist as you said they are trying to do different things.
4627  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: May 04, 2021, 10:29:38 AM
Just found another two candidates for Rikafip list.

Found this gang posting only positive in same topics [ANN] CafeSwap a Yield Farming and Staking Platform on BSC Chain and [ANN] Work Quest - Global End to End Jobs Marketplace Powered on Smart Contract. The style topics are created also look identical. I think the idea of both topics are attract users and sell them valueless tokens that are trade on "swap-like" place.
Good find, both of those threads are shilled by sock puppet accounts, no question about it. While checking their post activity, I found at least two more announcement threads that are doing the same:

[ANN][MORA] Meliora Finance Official Thread!!
[ANN] [$FREN] Frenchie Official Thread!!!
[ANN] YFDAI |DEFI|Revolution in Decentralised Finance | Launchpad 🔥🔥

Both topics were created by Legit_Alt+, so it is better to put him on control and check his future topics for using bumping services.
Yep, you can pretty much expect that his future ANN threads will be shilled the same way, as that's the way they usually operate.
4628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: May 03, 2021, 05:27:33 PM

In fact, giving Alfonso Cuarón the award for best director for the film Roma was clear proof that perhaps Roma should have won the best film.
OK, it won as the best foreign film. But this is one more thing that doesn't make sense. So you put the same film in the category of best film and in the category of best foreign film? How do we look, is it an American film or a foreign film?
For me, Roma was without the doubt much better film than Green Book, and it was the best movie of the year. I think that bigger problem than being Netflix movie was the fact that is non-English speaking movie, and Academy was reluctant to award such movie with Best Picture award, so they waited for the  next year and gave it to Parasite, therefore making the precedent.

You have to remember that Oscar is first and foremost award for American cinema, so its only natural that they want to protect their own film industry, but it is a good thing that they are changing, and with Parasite making that precedent it will be much easier for foreign movies to win he same award.

Nominees are voted by other directors who are members of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. Those members might not have liked Peter Farrelly that year because he is known for his comedies like There’s something about the Mary and The Heartbreak Kid which are vulgar with distasteful jokes.
Yep, just wanted to write that directors are those who decide who will get nomination, and they obviously weren't impressed with Farrely and his work on Green Book. When it comes to award itself then everyone votes for every category.
4629  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New tricks of fake Elon Musk's Twitter giveaway! https://eloncoins.space/ on: May 03, 2021, 05:14:20 PM
Just want to another website link with the same tricks. The scammer is working hard to get succeed.
Yeah, they won't give up easily once they found a new trick, and especially if they see that its working. They gonna keep milking it for some time.

Out of curiosity, I checked BTC and ETH address they are using, and so far on BTC address there is 0.015 BTC from 1 transaction , while ETH is still empty.
Most probably someone falls into this trap or a scammer makes deposits by themselves to attract us. But seems 0.015BTC has moved to some other wallet.
Yeah, maybe someone actually got scammed for 0.15 BTC and if thats the case, then their little trick really paid off, as 0.015 BTC is decent amount of money. What scammers sometimes do is that they send some BTC by themselves, in order to trick those that wants to check explorer. At least ETH address is completely empty, with no transactions.
4630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: May 02, 2021, 07:23:53 PM
I'm not aware that even the Oscar Nominees has odds and can placed bets on, I'm curious what gambling sites handles this kinds of events does all of the sports betting site have this kind of betting event?
That's nothing new really, I remember that in the late 90s when I started betting, Oscar was already included along with all other similar stuff like. Regarding where you can bet on Oscar, basically all top gambling sites offer that, so it won't be hard to find it next year, if you decide to bet on it.
4631  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New tricks of fake Elon Musk's Twitter giveaway! on: May 02, 2021, 07:19:42 PM
Hah yeah, they made website looking like a twitter page.Scammers are always figuring out new ways to scam. Worst of all, even though this is not very good scam attempt, some will probably fall for this.  By the way, you stumbled upon this scam attempt on Twitter, or it showed up in Google?

Out of curiosity, I checked BTC and ETH address they are using, and so far on BTC address there is 0.015 BTC from 1 transaction , while ETH is still empty.

Here are addresses if anyone else wanna check it out occasionally.

4632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: May 02, 2021, 02:32:53 PM
I was just a little surprised by this victory, as it is a Netflix documentary.
But, they had to really give something to Netflix, and ended up taking advantage of a less important category, for the academy.
So what if its Netflix documentary, does it make any automatically bad?  Netflix spent 15 billion dollars on original content in 2019 and 17 billion dollars in 2020. So yeah, they mean business and every year they keep getting better. For me, paying Netflix subscription is a no brainer as I know that money will be spent on quality stuff.

Regarding your nonsense about "Netflix taking advantage and won in less important category", just a reminder for you that in 2019 Netflix's Roma won 3 Oscars; Alfonso Cuaron for best director, Best Foreign Language Film and best Cinematography. Are those also irrelevant categories too? In Best Documentary category this is their 3rd win for now, so no surprise either. And no, Best Documentary is not an irrelevant category.

So yeah, you should really check your facts before writing nonsense.

While I didn't like Nomadland that much, McDormand played beautifully in it, and my bet on 4.27 odds on her was the biggest one I've made for this round of Oscars, so I'm glad it was a win  Grin

Kudos for the the win, bookies really underestimated Frances McDormand!
4633  Economy / Reputation / Re: KICKICO-KickEx:Legit business or scam in making? on: May 02, 2021, 09:58:02 AM
Thats a lot actually mate. But if there are some who tried who knows might worth a chance if and only price of kick is worth it.

What you basically get is 25% of the trading fees that you paid. Doesn't make any sense to do it, especially not doing it on that dodgy exchange. The only time when this is worth trying to do it after they finish with the KICK dump. As the price goes lower, so is the amount of KSD needed. But still, you have to be crazy to go for it, and hodl those shitcoins hoping that hey might get pumped again in the future. Unless you are very experienced trader, you will probably loose more money while trading than those tokens are worth, no matter the current price.

As I said before, system is built around tricking greedy and naive ones, and luckily for Kickico, there is abundance of those in crypto.

4634  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Nove NFT igre? on: May 02, 2021, 08:56:48 AM

4635  Economy / Reputation / Re: KICKICO-KickEx:Legit business or scam in making? on: May 02, 2021, 08:26:45 AM
Have you heard of any true case of someone who was able to unfreeze these coins? Why we did not hear the stories of some people who were able to unfreeze 888,888 KICK and thus stir up a little greed?
If the value goes close to 5 to 6k then I maybe try to pull recovering it. But right now it's not that much si we will just waste time and money.
You forgot the crucial thing here, and that is if the price of KICK goes up significantly so 888,888 KICK is worth $5-6k, that means unlocking of those tokens will become much harder too.

Remember, their unlock (or "unfreeze" as they like to call it) system is tied to the value of KICK, so as KICK price goes up, so the amount of KSD needed. So, if aidropped KICK tokens are suddenly worth 5,000 USD, you will have to get 5,000 KSD, and to get 1 KSD you have to spend 4 USD in trading fees, meaning 20,000 USD spent in trading fees. Unless you are whale, it will be impossible for you to reach that. And if you are whale, you won't bother with these shitcoins. Catch 22.

Once again, you have to be either insane or completely clueless  to try doing something like that, and that's exactly their target audience. God knows how many greedy noobs swallowed the bait, sent the money to their exchange, did KYC and then realized that unlocking is much harder than it looked at first.
4636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: May 02, 2021, 08:05:51 AM
Agree.
In Cannes the best films are presented, and they really win the best. At the Oscars, on the other hand, the ones who are the most "friends" of Hollywood usually win.
Cannes and Oscar are two completely different things. First of all, Cannes is a film festival and as any other film festival, it's not so much focused on movies from the one country, whereas Oscar is mainly award for US movies, despite the fact that they have "Best International Feature Film" and other non American movies can be found there.

I would compare Oscars to Cesar awards in France, which gives wards for best French movies, and similar thing have other countries. Thing with the Oscars is that United States cinema is so dominant around the world that it's no wonder that it's influence is huge.

Regarding that in Cannes always the best film wins Palme d'Or, looking at the previous winner I wouldn't agree with that. Majority of them are fine movies, but in the end it's all about personal preference. Another thing. Palme d'Or  winner is chosen by a jury of only 12 people. One interesting piece of trivia, Parasite was only the 3rd movie to win both Best Picture Oscar and Palme d'Or , and the first one since 1955.

I personally think that The Father is a masterpiece, and anyone who is capable of empathy would find it very interesting and moving. I consider myself as a young viewer, but still I enjoyed it. Hopkins was incredible, as always. He sure as hell deserves the second Oscar.
I too hoped that this movie would be the winner. The Father and Mank were my favorites. And Nomadland just didn't seem like a very strong movie to me.
The father is without the doubt an excellent movie, and by far the best depiction of dementia that I saw. But it is also demanding movie, so I can understand why some (and especially younger and less experienced viewers) might not like it.
4637  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Currency Usage on: May 02, 2021, 06:31:28 AM
I'm pretty sure you can already see items priced in cryptocurrencies in online stores.
You can, but it's still extremely rare to see something priced in crypto and it will take some time before this goes into mainstream, probably until some big store like Amazon or Alibaba starts showing the prices like that, and lead the way for others.

All in due time though, I still think that current usage of cryptocurrencies surpassed the wildest dreams of those early supporters. And it all started with the two pizzas Smiley
4638  Economy / Speculation / Re: How risky do you feel investing in Bitcoin is in this point of time? on: May 02, 2021, 05:24:49 AM
If you are investing money that you don't need and don't mind waiting for a couple of years, I would say that buying BTC at these levels is hardly risky at all, but if you are into it for a quick profit, then it's very risky.

In my opinion, best way to invest in BTC is to use dollar cost average method, so that you don't have to think about timing the market because as newbie chances that you will do that properly are slim.
4639  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin not yet at $100k, why? on: May 02, 2021, 05:20:27 AM
Yep, I think that it's very much possible. Just remember that around the same time back in 2017 BTC was below 3k, if I can recall correctly, and we all know at what price it ended by the end of the year. Since BTC is at approximately 55k, it needs less than 100% increase to reach 100k which is not that much really, when you think that we have 7 months ahead of us.

Even if 100k by the end of 2021 doesn't happen I would say that BTC had a very good year.
4640  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEWALLET.ORG - Scam Alert on: May 02, 2021, 05:09:15 AM
is there anyone here who can help me, I am having trouble withdrawing my funds from freewallet, I have sent all my data and selfies, but from 2019 until now the funds are still being held. every time I post on Facebook they always delete and my message is also not replied to. if needed I will screenshot my account and all the evidence of the 300 emails that have been sent but the answers are nonsense. I hope the seniors in bitcointalk can help me,, because I really need these funds, for routine parents' medical expenses
I'm sorry to hear that you are your funds are held by Freewallet for so long, but unfortunately noone on this forum can really force them to do anything. They have been tagged and flagged by senior members already and as you can see that didn't help much.

But who knows, maybe they decide to do something after they see your post..
