4621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your strategy to carry on making money when Bitcoin turns bearish on: October 27, 2021, 05:01:50 PM
None. I won't try to squeeze my brain juice of options when I can just go on and do my day job and let my bitcoin sit for a while. Besides, time has proven that bitcoin performs well in the long run, so why would I need to stress myself of making money out of it when it can do just that without me interfering anyway? I would be pressured if day trading is my only source of income, but right now, I treat bitcoin as one of my investments for the future that does its job quite well.
4622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fomo AGAIN? on: October 23, 2021, 01:00:15 PM
A lot of people probably bought in due to FOMO the first time bitcoin showed signs of a massive uptrend. I honestly didn't care that much the first time since I already bought in at the dip, and have no extra cash to buy more. Made quite a handsome sum, although I haven't converted back to USD just yet since I'm still in the green and I'm planning to keep my coins for at least until December. Price action seemed to have slowed down quite a bit yesterday, although there is still not enough selling pressure to push us back down to $50k levels in the mean time and I think we're still okay for now.
4623  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can the signals of Twitter accounts be trusted? on: October 23, 2021, 12:13:27 PM
Some of them are only good for your first few tries, and afterwards become useless since they don't really deliver much to their promise of getting that signal every time. Also, most of those 'signals' that they are sending are just them trying to stimulate the market of a certain coin, and lures you into buying such coins in order for them to take profits from you and them telling you what to do. It's just an upgraded pump and dump group that hides their schemes as 'signals' on twitter in order to gain lots of followers.

I'd use them on a free and trial basis, but only for a few times.
4624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance promoting Shiba Inu on: October 23, 2021, 11:37:52 AM
I don't think it's promoting directly, but rather just placing a banner for Shiba Inu on top of the platform just to welcome the new coin. Pretty sure it was also sponsored by the devs of Shiba Inu, as I don't think Binance will take up free advertising on their website knowing how crucial and big the opportunity is for your coin to be placed on the prime spot on one of the world's largest exchange platform. Either way, if this comes true or not, pretty sure there will be a pump on SHIB as they will capitalize on being listed on Binance.
4625  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are trading platforms useful? on: October 23, 2021, 10:14:37 AM
It can only help you so much, as its tips are not exhaustive and there are scenarios wherein it is not covered on its tutorials. Nevertheless, it is a great tool as it helps you get off your feet and start reading some charts to aid you in your future trading endeavors. I've heard of newscrypto but don't want to try it as I already knew most of what they offer in there, but it is recommended for newbies to get as much as information as they can so that they will have an easier time dealing with things involving crypto.
4626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PoW vs PoS on: October 23, 2021, 09:39:16 AM
The thing with PoS is, it promotes hoarding and lets the few people with huge number of coins control the blockchain. It requires little to no electricity in generating a block, yes, but the security of the network lies on the hands of the few people having tons of coins on their disposal. For PoW, complicated mathematical algorithms ensure that the network's security is always at its prime, and in order to beat the algorithms in place and rewrite even a small portion of the blockchain, one must have spent an immense amount of resources (electricity, time, and money) before they can achieve it.

Bitcoin IMO will not switch to such an algorithm any time soon. It will still keep PoW as it remains to be the most ideal algorithm in terms of security for bitcoin.
4627  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation & Supply Chain Issues-How bad is it going to get?! on: October 22, 2021, 08:48:01 PM
Here it's down to 4.5%, from a staggering 7.2% just a month before due to continuous printing of money and sudden lockdowns that contributed to goods being inflated. The price of basic necessities are still kept in check, although vegetables, fruits, and other such produce from farms kept on climbing all year round. Poultry products are also on the rise, too, and I don't think there will be a stop to this any time soon since the country is still on the works of reopening its economy for the nth time.

Imports are still steady, though the production of some of the local goods (such as sardines, chips, etc.) slowed down. I rarely see one of the local potato chips that I always buy whenever I go to the grocery, possibly because they still haven't resumed 100% of their operations.
4628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is burning coins good on: October 22, 2021, 08:11:09 PM
I don't understand why projects refer to these methods in order to achieve stability or increase the value of their tokens/coins. In the first place, if the project is viable, the coin/token will not suffer any potential loss of value due to its supply. Hence the need for burning would not be there since the coin is doing well for itself. This method is so overused in the current altcoin market that people think that by purposely removing coins in circulation, the coin's value should rise. On paper and in theory, that should happen, but what if the coin doesn't really offer something new on the table?
4629  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is it safe to use Binance on VPN on: October 22, 2021, 07:29:16 PM
One simple answer: no, but Binance does not explicitly state that they don't want your money. It's just that you can't access the site if you're from the US or other countries wherein Binance is banned. I know a few people who access Binance using a VPN and haven't got their accounts locked, although of course there is always that risk of getting your account suspended since it is already within their terms. To play it safe, I would use Binance in a one and done basis, afterwards I would not look back ever again.
4630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Walmart Sells Bitcoin on: October 22, 2021, 07:01:33 PM
While this in itself is already a great thing for bitcoin, I don’t think that this will be as big as it is even if Walmart is involved. Not a lot of shoppers who go to Walmart are interested in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. They might get intrigued, or think that they’ve seen bitcoin somewhere but not to the point that they will buy bitcoin or something. It might kickstart something new, but the chances of it happening because of Walmart and the mini stall inside it is pretty slim.
4631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 22, 2021, 05:24:59 PM
Coaches, players, and team owners consent to match fixing that’s for sure, because match fixing wouldn’t happen in the first place if there are no insiders involved in the bets. Most of the time, they do these on leagues that don’t really matter, but still is a hype one yet the profit that they get from winning the games aren’t really something compared to the potential profits that they can get on match fixing. I certainly would bet on such matches in a heartbeat if I do have the insider information, though a part of me thinks that it is wrong and unethical, but whatever.
4632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful with new meme coins on: October 22, 2021, 04:50:52 PM
There are tons of meme coin circulating around the market right now, and some of them are honestly doing good in terms of marketing and spreading the word. What I don’t like, though is how these meme coins which have no actual value or any use case, are getting the most attention compared to other coins that have the potential to make it big because of their features and not because of their solid marketing strategy. Many people will be burned for sure, then again if they already did their own research, there’s nothing we can do about it.
4633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of an iPhone in Bitcoin at their launch over the years. on: October 22, 2021, 03:19:32 PM
The last Apple product that I bought is an iPad Air 4 with the magic keyboard attachment, and it costed me almost $1000, and I bought it when bitcoin experienced a crash back to $30k a few months back. If only I knew better, I would have waited for a few months before I spent that $1000 on a gadget, but then again necessity forced me to spend for a new tablet as a replacement to a laptop that already broke for me to continue my side hustles.

Then again, nobody knew the direction bitcoin’s price will take, yet I can’t help but feel some regrets every now and then.
4634  Economy / Economics / Re: Tulip Mania 2.0 on: October 21, 2021, 08:53:43 PM
Most NFTs are absolute money grabs. No value whatsoever can ever be found from them, and it's a shame that even though that's the case, most people still buy into that idea and tell themselves that nothing could ever go wrong. Take for example some art NFTs from celebrities and other organizations. It's nice to have something that directly came from those you look up to, but having them digitally? Those can easily be reproduced without much work, so why would someone in their sane mind pay lots to these pixels on your screen saved on a blockchain?
4635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has died 432 times on: October 21, 2021, 07:57:15 PM
And I will not be surprised if the number keeps on getting bigger and bigger.

There are still a lot of people that are upset with bitcoin's growth and success, and will literally shout at the top of their lungs that bitcoin is dying the moment the price goes awry and reds are being posted on charts. Idk what they are gaining from being haters of bitcoin, but it's fun to see them disappear whenever bitcoin goes against their doom prophecies.

But they can keep on trying, though. Maybe they'll hit the bull's eye and bitcoin actually goes dead by that time Cheesy
4636  Economy / Economics / Re: Legalising would give a chance to Latin America on: October 21, 2021, 07:19:11 PM
No matter how hard governments restrict illegal drugs, it will always find its way to those people who consume it for recreation or to satiate their addiction. I don't think controlling the supply or making it illegal, or declaring war on drugs will make things better, yet I don't think allowing its consumption for recreation will make things better either. It will always be a stalemate case, as abuse will always find its way no matter what stance the government has on illicit drugs.

I say try to limit the sale of the key chemicals needed for synthesizing and creating such drugs, and require certain permits before one can purchase said chemicals and take it home. That may not solve things completely, but at the least people will have second thoughts before trying to purchase and produce such illicit synthetic drugs.
4637  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk Sees Bitcoin Price Reaching $69,000 on: October 21, 2021, 06:28:06 PM
It's more likely of a meme about 69 and 420, and it just so happened that the price of bitcoin and ethereum were pretty close with those meme-y numbers. Probably wanting to make a buzz during all these movement from bitcoin, and it's actually free clout since the man is already involved in a lot of crypto-related happenings for quite some time now.

This billionaire is better off building rockets and planning mankind's trip to Mars or even just the moon rather than meddle with cryptocurrencies. At this point, he's just a shill for the pumps and not really contributing anything substantial to the ecosystem at all.
4638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin flash crashes to $8200 at Binance.us on: October 21, 2021, 04:51:53 PM
I think this is not the first time bitcoin encountered a flash crash on Binance. Just a few months ago, something similar happened, and all trading activity was paused and orders were cancelled when the flash crash happened. A lot of people are thinking that what binance is doing is questionable, and I think so too, considering that this has happened far too many times already and that they have not installed preventive measures against such an event. All other exchange around the world do not experience such kind of flash crashes quite often compared to Binance, so what's happening within the exchange is, IMO, really something else.
4639  Economy / Economics / Re: A tale of the two parasites on: October 21, 2021, 02:43:04 PM
And of the two, the worse one are the rich people, for they have the capacity to help and to make something happen by doing even just the bare minimum like paying taxes and whatnot yet still evades doing so. Whereas the poor people don't much choice or options for themselves, and even so that does not make them any better than the rich guys. These two parasites really eat up the society bit by bit, and start lots of unnecessary things in order to justify their needs, and why they should be favored over other people.

This is why we can never achieve utopia. A small group of people will always find fault in everyone else and always look to trick the honest guys into doing their dirty work for them.
4640  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New Crypto Executive Order in Consideration -- Bad for bitcoin? Critics think so on: October 20, 2021, 06:59:02 PM
Most of Biden's plan this year is to tax the rich, especially huge companies who weren't paying any taxes before he became the POTUS. I don't think anything crypto-related would be the focus of the administration in the soonest possible time, though for sure they may already be drafting regulations and whatnot re: cryptocurrencies, but the realization of such regulations may not be in the horizon for us just yet.

I for one don't think that the regulations they're trying to pass are gravely detrimental to the market and ecosystem in general. It may even help the market to expand and reach more and more people if the right mix of things are implemented.
