Doh, 15$ now  Cheesy

I find it funny how its actually the pro-bitcoiners that are jumping in at the tiniest little nugget in their favour...while they like to say that its the opposite. Extra funny because $15 is still $2 lower than when I made this post.

I said we would break the $11 barrier on Friday. I still hold this prediction,

Extra food for thought: http://bitcoin.sipa.be/growth-10k.png

My prophecy of the miners leaving is coming true.

The price is going to plummet, the people that wanted to buy low have already bought low at ranges of $13-$17 thinking that is the low figure. As it goes lower they aren't going to be buying again because they already bought in thinking they were at the low.

16$

4648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Deepbit nearly at 50%! Change Pool now! on: July 06, 2011, 12:45:33 PM
The bigger the pool, the less time a block is found so ppl see a steadier rate of income (less variance)

It's weird, some days ago polls were balanced...
4649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Government "Regulation" on: July 06, 2011, 08:22:18 AM
I doubt the general public would approve of a budget for buying thousands and thousands of AMD video cards. I'm not so sure that would get past any budget hearing.

I'm sure the government has enough computers that they could pull a big enough hash rate to seriously cripple the system if the wanted.

i rather doubt it.  you'd need several Jaguars to even make a dent in things.

Pffft... Jaguars are supercomputer

With 15 millions $ it is possible to have more than 51% of the network hashrate.

It doesn't even require the general public to approve the budget and blablabla, 15 millions are nothing for the government (or for the banks)

I think we should ban the dollar. Let's start collect signs to ask the UN to ban such an evil thing!
4651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Formated computer, lost Wallet.dat on: July 03, 2011, 04:28:56 PM
Another good backup would be to encrypt it,zip/rar it then either mail it to yourself on gmail with non-suspicious name or some cloud storage service.
^this

i backuped my wallet in this way too

If you use MSN, you can put it on Skydrive for example. Also send it to your other email address. There services are very reliable, much more than your computer!

4655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What "speed" should I be mining bitcoins? It seems slow. What am I doing wrong on: July 03, 2011, 10:25:56 AM
You are using Nvidia, they don't mine very well

You should get ATI cards to have good speeds
4656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins Won't Change from Uncofirmed on: July 03, 2011, 10:24:09 AM
yeh confirmations can take a while.

about the confirmations, how does that work? do they take hash power out of the pool to confirm these?

so do we actually lose a tiny bit of overhead by being in a pool?

No lol

Confirmations are just the blocks created AFTER the one that gave you these bitcoins

So if the pool now find a block and your share of the reward is 0.5bitcoin well, you have to wait until 100 more blocks are found (by all bitcoin, not the pool) before these bitcoins become Confirmed.

It's just a safety measure that slush use to make sure that when people move the bitcoins to their wallet, these bitcoins really exist.

They require 100 confirmations, until then they will be unconfirmed.

Be patient and wait  Cheesy
