4641  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your favorite music artist? on: October 25, 2020, 05:28:19 PM
Catfish and the bottlemen are one of the best bands I've ever seen, they have such a variety of songs and 90% of them are instant hits the first time I listened to them. There are so many good artists out there though, that it seems silly to get hung up on one particular musician or group. Variety is the spice of life as they say Smiley
4642  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Plastic barriers next to supermarket queues. on: October 25, 2020, 04:26:34 PM
It seems a little unfair to compare being able to smell someones perfume and saying that coronavirus restrictions are a waste of time. There are so many scenarios where this sort of shielding could help stop the spread - if it just stops 1 out of 100 people getting infected then it seems like a good idea, with this particularly deadly and contagious virus. Let's say you were just walking through the checkouts after deciding not to buy anything, someone on the opposite side of the shield sneezes but that barrier was able to protect you from direct exposure in the 2 seconds that you were passing by. Of course you have to think of situations where the shields are detrimental or counter intuitive, but it seems silly to say they are not helpful.
4643  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Athiest are the ultimate free thinker? on: October 25, 2020, 04:11:58 PM
I would say that agnostics are the ultimate free thinker, rather than atheists. Atheists have closed off their mind to the though that a God does or did ever exist. Somebody that does not factor in the possibility of a higher power has closed off a part of their mind - you really need to think of everything and however slim the chances may be, the existence of the afterlife may be true and nothing you will ever be able to confirm until you die.
4644  Economy / Economics / Re: rich people super rich are taking loans now why? what it means ? on: October 25, 2020, 11:46:00 AM
Unfortunately in times like this the rich are able to get much richer. They already have plenty of assets, so are able to use free cash flow or borrow money and buy while asset prices are depressed. While everyone else is getting rejected for bank loans, the richest are courted by financial institutions because they are the easiest type of customer. Stocks plunge during a crisis like this, but long term they will recover and are basically selling at bargain prices right now.
4645  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 200 week Moving Average (MA) on: October 25, 2020, 11:32:28 AM
It's nice to see bitcoin trending up again and we could be heading towards a second peak for this cryptocurrency. Considering it has a fixed cap of 21 million, has permeated into popular mainstream culture and is more accessible to the general public than every - it seems inevitable for it to keep increasing in value, similar to the history of gold. Time to stock up before the rush
4646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lost more in the process to recover ? on: October 25, 2020, 10:59:52 AM
Chasing losses is the most dangerous part of gambling, along with spending more than you can afford to lose. It is so easy to fall into the trap that you'll be able to recover losses, but the maths and learning algorithms that big casino companies use is simply designed to beat customers in the long term. All you end up doing is losing more and it is best to cut your losses to take a break for a while.
4647  Economy / Economics / Re: I tried money making apps! on: October 25, 2020, 10:11:52 AM
Been using Swagbucks in the last few weeks and I've found it to be a pretty reliable way to make about $30 a week, if you have enough free time to complete the surveys. You really need to check it often and take advantage of all the little offers they have running - like Swagups and Swago, to maximize your earnings. Weekends are a little tougher because there must be quite a few more people trying to complete them and the surveys disappear much quicker.
4648  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Paid Just $750 taxes in 2016 and 2017 ! on: October 25, 2020, 08:55:01 AM
I found it rather interesting when the New York Times released an article the other day stating that Trump has Chinese bank accounts. I have a strange feeling that the Chinese government, being an authoritarian style, would be much harder to skirt around any sort of tax laws - meaning he probably paid more in taxes to China than he has to his home country. This is how a business mind works and it's still shocking that the average working person on the street thinks that Trump is trying to help them and not just enrich himself further.
4649  Other / Off-topic / Re: What brand of deodorant do you use? on: October 25, 2020, 08:46:18 AM
Lynx or Dove roll on deoderant have been the best options for me, they work well for sensitive skin. I always used the spray cans before and thought they were pretty good, until I got an underarm infection from one of them - now they rarely get used and are mainly used to add a nice smell to my outer clothing when in a rush.
4650  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK tax on Coinbase transactions. on: October 25, 2020, 08:38:49 AM
It actually seems good for bitcoin as a whole when this starts happening. For bitcoin to be widely accepted, rather than shunned as a "grey area" financial tool, then regulators need to have the ability to see who is trying to avoid taxes. Ultimately taxes are what helps keep a country running smoothly and certain sections of society are using "new" technology to avoid them it can be very unfair to the rest. It does strip away some of the anonymity that people like to claim is important for bitcoin, but it is always going to be a battle between what's more important: the public good versus individual privacy.
4651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New Normal Game Setup - a success or a failure? on: October 24, 2020, 10:16:18 PM
It'll be interesting to see how bigger events like the winter olympics or Paris olympics end up. As those involve moving athletes from all around the world together and be a way for the virus to spread if it's not handled properly. In my country it's a bit bizarre to see football stadiums that usually hold 50,000+ people completely empty and it must be a bit of a surreal atmosphere for the footballers. I wonder if they are happy in a way because there are less distractions from the stands..
4652  Other / Off-topic / Re: [ARTICLE] Tesla’s ‘Full Self-Driving’ beta is here!!! on: October 24, 2020, 10:04:24 PM
It is some fascinating technology and Tesla really are pushing boundaries, however I'm always concerned that people can get too complacent with it all. If you have to be constantly alert and ready to take over driving any second, do you ever really get the peace of mind benefit that it should be able to give you? If a rogue reflection from the side of a lorry or even a malicious billboard can cause the car to act erratically, is that really worth the benefit? Either way, this sort of tech is the future but history has shown that the early pioneers sometimes suffer the most.
4653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why didn't PayPal decided to use xrp than Bitcoin? on: October 24, 2020, 09:55:00 PM
Please don't crucify me. Some hours ago PayPal payment system made some good decision of incorporating into their system buy and sell of Bitcoin, this has made it price to move from it former state. Basically ripple would have be the best for them IMO, seeing that ripple is the future of cryptocurrency irrespective of it centralization. As a ripple holder from inception, I did want Paypal to reconsider the use of ripple as it stand at the frontier of this era of digital currency. Hope this message get to PayPal team for appropriate actions.

Quite simply, whether you know it or not, ripple is nowhere near as popular as bitcoin. It has never entered the mainstream public media (although it might get reported on sporadically) but lots of people have heard of bitcoin. You should be happy that bitcoin has been accepted by paypal, as it gives more people exposure to the idea of cryptocurrency and makes it much more likely that paypal will allow trading of other ones in future.
4654  Economy / Economics / Re: The Real Situation :( on: October 24, 2020, 09:51:07 PM
Lots of people underestimate the resilience and ingenuity of the human species. That is quite a list that the original poster put together, but none of the points seem insurmountable - they are just challenges that need to be overcome. I wouldn't worry about it so much and concentrate on improving the lives of people directly around you. Covid is bad, but right now every single country in the world is suffering, so nobody has much of an economic advantage in this situation.
4655  Economy / Economics / Re: China is looking to get rid of the US dollar on: October 24, 2020, 09:46:32 PM
It was always inevitable that China would want to break any ties with the US dollar, especially because they accepted a lot of debt in US dollars and this allows the American government to devalue that debt whenever they choose. The world always needs a reserve currency however and the dollar has been the "flight to safety" for such a long time that it's not going to change quickly. Nobody really trusts the Chinese government right now and the Chinese government doesn't even want their own currency to freely float - so they don't really have many options at the moment. They'll just diversify a bit more into Euros and other currencies I suppose.
4656  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where else should I travel? on: October 24, 2020, 09:42:03 PM
I'd strongly recommend checking out Berlin and Gibraltar as destinations to visit - they are both special in their own ways. Berlin has lots of huge, monolithic buildings and a lot of cultural places to check out. Gibraltar is a unique little place to walk around and it'd definitely be worth checking out all the different tunnels within (along with a trip to see the monkeys). You should really be careful bringing back materials like that though, because if you are caught going through customs with organic containing materials (soils) in certain countries then you might end up with a big fine.
4657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do think about skill games? on: October 24, 2020, 09:06:05 PM

Do you know what skill games are?

Skill games are casino slots where you are rewarded based on your ability to play a game.
In other words, the outcome is determined by your skills, rather than by chance.

I'm not sure there is any sort of casino based slots that can be skill based - they are all controlled by automated algorithms and programmed odds to benefit the house. There are very few games you will find in a casino that are truly skill based - it's possible to get a small advantage against the house by playing perfect blackjack strategy from what I've read in the past. Poker also involves a heavy amount of skill and understanding all the odds as the hand progresses, but it does involve an element of bluffing which can make it slightly harder to build an advantage.
4658  Economy / Digital goods / Re: I'm selling my crypto casino website on: October 24, 2020, 09:01:47 PM
Maybe include how much profit is receiving and a bit of evidence that it is worth 0.3 btc? How much is the casino software and does it receive regular maintenance patches? Are there any updates to the software and do you pay any sort of ongoing fees for the software? Who ensures the security of the code and server that run this website?
4659  Economy / Speculation / Re: how many Bitcoin do you need to live comfy in event of hyperinflation? on: October 24, 2020, 08:54:11 PM
I'm not sure how useful it is to say a fixed number of bitcoins. Bitcoin doesn't produce a return, so you would need to rely on selling it to have a consistent income. It's also very volatile, so you're never sure if you will wake up one morning and find it has lost 99% of its value for a weird reason (like some sort of exploit being found). You'd be much better off spreading your investments out across lots of assets to really be comfortable - like property, gold, stocks. Bitcoin is not something you can eat or a place you can live.
4660  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the bitcoin price range as we enter the New Year on: October 24, 2020, 08:40:06 PM
I'm starting to think that Bitcoin could creep above the $15,000 marker, especially with the increase in recent weeks. This will tend to create a snowball effect and fear of missing out. People who saw the last spike will want to get in on the action and are sick of low savings rates on offer with mainstream banks. It could be a very interesting time for Bitcoin in the next few months.
