4662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 11:12:09 PM
See how Andreas M. Antonopoulos got contacted ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/4hj1xu/why_i_declined_to_verify_sns_identity_two_weeks/ ) :

Quote

About two weeks ago I was contacted and asked to offer security advice for a project. I was asked to sign an NDA in order to discuss the project itself, something I am reluctant to do, in general. Once I received the NDA however, it became obvious that the project was related to verifying the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. I immediately declined the offer, declined to participate and declined to sign the NDA.
I'm sure many people will think I was wrong to decline the "opportunity" to verify SN's identity. From my perspective, the request for me to verify his/her/their identity is in itself an appeal to authority. It is replacing public cryptographic proof with endorsement by a third party. If SN wants to "prove" their identity, they don't need an "authority" to do so. They can do it in a public, open manner. To ask people in the space who have a reputation to stake that reputation and vouch for SN's identity raises many red flags in my mind.
I don't know if Craig Wright is SN. I don't care and I don't want to know.
As I have expressed many times in the past, I think the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto does not matter. More importantly I think it serves to distract from the fact that bitcoin is not controlled by anyone and is not a system of Appeal-to-Authority. Identifying the creator only serves to feed the appeal-to-authority crowd, as if SN is some kind of infallible prophet, or has any say over bitcoin's future.
Identity and authority are distractions from a system of mathematical proof that does not require trust. This is not a telenovela. Bitcoin is a neutral framework of trust that can bring financial empowerment to billions of people. It works because it doesn't depend on any authority. Not even Satoshi's.
Back to work.

Andreas is 110% amazing. Love this guy.

I think you get a reward % on whatever projects you yourself decide to invest in. If you vote not to invest in a particular project I don't think you get the %.
4664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DAO] Price Speculation on: May 02, 2016, 03:02:41 PM
What market cap will the DAO eventually achieve?

Whether we decide to go with Slock.it or another idea, I think we can eventually hit 200 million. But I cant vote in the poll.
200 million what? USD, GBP, ETH, BTC???
4665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: May 02, 2016, 02:56:19 PM
The Ethereum price is quite volatile. It dropped quite a lot. But it has not dropped below 0.015. Is that a bottom?

It looks like one; certainly, $7 looks like one. But when it comes down to it: if you put your money down, you've either got to have faith that ETH is a HODL or else you've gotta use a stop-loss.

I still have some faith in Ethereum. So when it drops to $5, I will buy some. But it will depends on the development of the coin.

i don't have any more faith in Ethereum, not after Vitalik dumped his own creation for fiat. that was a terrible sign for me to not think about ethereum as a long term thing. but only as a short term rocket to sometimes catch a lift to the top and get out fast while it is high.
More FUD. He cashed out 25% to fund ETH ongoing development. He still has a majority stake of 75% of his holdings.
4666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: May 02, 2016, 11:12:11 AM
Good time to jump into the ETH train. Price and outlook is good over short to long term.
4667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maidsafe to pump hard after the halving? on: May 01, 2016, 10:50:15 PM
If you understand how the SAFE Network functions and the potential behind it, you'd be in ASAP. A truly anonymous network that'll be exponentially hard to monitor. I keep saying to myself I wish I could get people to fully understand what Maidsafe LTD have built. Just throw $20 at it I tell people and you won't be sorry.

They are updating pages for the alpha release!
Agreed. This tech has massive potential. Definitely worth a punt at these prices.
4668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We missed the ETH train. on: April 30, 2016, 07:41:14 PM
The rise will continue.  Look for ETH liquidity to dry up as the DAO/slock.it ICO contract sucks up a bunch of ETH.

If you're a train rider, this is your chance.  Close to two weeks from now the 1eth/100DAO tokens breaks and starts to increase.  May 27th will be a frenzy as it's the end of the ICO.  0.04?  0.05?
Markets say BTC being coverted into ETH to buy DAO.

DAO needs ETH to function. No surprises what this will do long term to ETH price.

Guys I've got a lovely warm feeling in my pants.
4670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum on: April 19, 2016, 07:04:11 AM
Would you consider buying $1000 worth of ether when its between like $8-$10 USD hoping the price fluctuates to $200-$300 per coin over time? Also do you believe ether will become more & more popular as time goes on? Finally I read online Microsoft has began experimenting how they could apply ethereum/decentrilzed market to better their company? Any other information you'd like to share feel free!
You are correct MS are indeed experimenting with Ethereum hoping to implement it later this year. So that said its good time to buy some ETH.

Wouldn't touch this scam even if you paid me to.
4672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: April 14, 2016, 11:40:30 PM
Clear buy signals.
4673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Pump & Dump Scam on: April 14, 2016, 11:36:07 PM
Totally New to Ethereum, but now looks like going down. What is the best advice for newbie to Altcoin and specially Ethereum, is it good to buy now or wait little bit ? if wait how long and what price should newbie can buy ? Thanks

Best advice is: do your own DD and don't listen to others for crypto investment advice. If you cannot do due diligence by yourself then stay out of crypto investments. 95 percent of all crypto coins are junk. Created only to enrich its "developers" (better: copy cats).

Reading this thread starting from page 1 was really big fun. There were so many BS postings that you cannot take 90 percent of these posters seriously. Ethereum is IMHO a crypto coin built by highly intelligent folks with a huge potential. There are also risks that Ethereum might not succeed. As always the calculation is RISK versus potential REWARD. While risk is non zero, potential reward is IMHO huge.

Hint: forget copy cat coins...   Grin

Amen

Well said and totally salient advice.

4675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crowdsales -- how to find them on: April 07, 2016, 04:53:43 PM
I missed the Lisk and Digix crowdsales.  Is there a good way to find out about crowdsales before they're over?
Don't miss the slock.it sale.
4676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 05, 2016, 01:56:48 AM
You guys are aware about the couple of clowns running LISK, yeah?
4677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum in NYTimes on: April 05, 2016, 01:10:15 AM
This stuff may increase the ethereum's value big time, but I guess it would be temporary.

Will have to see, my guess is that there's potential for long-term increases in the value of the network as dAPPs with their own tokens are deployed within the network. We just saw how well the digix IPO performed (5.5 million in 12 hours) and Slock.it is crreating a lot of excitement.

http://www.smithandcrown.com/digix-dao-closes-crowdsale-under-day-raises-5-5-million/

As people invest money, time, and energy into dependent applications and side-chains of Ehtereum will help to maintain vertical pressure on the price.
Dayum wish I'd bought some digix.
4678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH will go to $100, then shoot up to BTC all time high on: April 03, 2016, 11:48:56 PM
ETH is still cheap at present. Worth bagging a few when you consider it's great potential.
4679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hot Coins on: April 03, 2016, 11:45:20 PM
In my opinion it's wise to hodl ETH, MAID, BTC, and REP.
good choises but LISK needs to be added
At present Im not convinced of the LISK devs.
