4661  Economy / Economics / Re: The number of jobless people has crossed one million in US - worrying sign? on: August 23, 2020, 10:28:02 AM
I doubt these numbers are true, as per the report of May almost 10% of US population lost their jobs which means 30+ millions people are jobless due to this corona virus.
That was back in May (during total lockdown). After the lockdown, the U.S. added millions of jobs back and people could return to their jobs, even in my country, people who were initially layed off were called back when businesses opened and their employers started generating income from the company. You cannot compare the unemployment rate of March, April and May with that of now, things aren't too good now, but they aren't as bad as back then either, the economy is active now, it was shut then.

I'm not surprised the numbers filing for unemployment benefits in the U.S. is going above 1 million, we're not out of the pandemic just yet, and the economy is bound to suffer from the effects of the total lockdowns earlier this year, it's inevitable, but with time more jobs will be created/reopened and the curve will continue to go down. But then there's prolly an Inflation approaching after all the money printed this year alone.
4662  Economy / Economics / Re: Some are hungry, some are losing their homes - some are doubling their wealth on: August 22, 2020, 09:38:26 PM
he's running his foundation, that does good things, but why does he ask people to donate to it ? He could fund it entirely by himself.
Bill gates is rich enough to fund his foundation himself, but there are still people out there who would not mind to donate to a good course and his foundation is that, and those are the individuals he is reaching out to for donations. It is not like he's robbing people of their money or something (mind you, it's voluntary). And if you consider how large the foundation is, as well as it's assets, it's obvious majority of the funds is coming from the wealthy and that's not a problem for them.

I can't really see a reason to blame the rich people for anything, you look at their assets and ask why they haven't paid their workers or why they ask for donations for their employees, but in business, what matters is what the company or organization is making at that time, if the company is struggling to make any income, obviously paying workers will be a problem, the billionaire wouldn't pay from his personal funds. That being said, this rich individuals are also donors to other foundations, sectors, groups etc.
4663  Other / Politics & Society / Re: History: Spanish flu, Over 50 million death. on: August 22, 2020, 06:45:18 AM
Before China and countries in Asia shut down their borders, the virus had already spread to many parts of the world, including America, Europe and Africa, imo why it took some countries quite a while to get their first case and subsequent cases was because they had insufficient testing facilities (Africa for example). It's not so easy to shut down your borders as a country, that is indirectly shutting down your economy, mind you that it took quite a while before countries had to succumb to closing their territories to outsiders, while returnees were quarantined, it was more or less the only option then.

All these makes it impossible to prevent a disease like Corona virus from spreading to many parts of the world. To mention a few; tourism and sports connects people to different parts of the world, for example when the virus hadn't become full blown, thousands of people still traveled to watch football matches (sports) in other countries, especially in England, Italy and Spain and months later they had a real issue on their hands. These and many more made the spread inevitable, and I don't think anyone is to blame for it.
There should be other professional and medical ways of preventing diseases to spread.
Natural immunity.

4665  Economy / Services / Re: pakhitheboss: Campaign Management Service - Hire for Free!! on: August 21, 2020, 06:11:49 PM
I know users can offer their services as they please, but offering a free BM service in my opinion is absurd, if a company wants to advertise in btt, they should have a budget for that, to pay the participants in the campaign as well as the manager who has quite a lot of work to do, ranging from selecting good posters, to counting posts and preventing spam every week. It would be wrong imo if users start offering free BM services, though that won't still get them campaigns, these companies usually choose the reliable BM's and they are not much.
  • If you think my service was great then tip me!

  • My ETH address for tip is - 0xDd6A8bc51f47bBC599e6546C0E3673fb0f49a213

It's the same as accepting payments, why not do that. Goodluck btw.

o.O ooooh, Couple of days ago there were reports about Ronaldo asking the club to sign his former teammate Benzema. It would be a good option given the form Benzema is in right now. But does Pirlo want him?
I don't see any reason why Pirlo would not want him, Kareem Benzema is one of the best strikers/most prolific in the world atm, the thing is if Madrid will ever be willing to sell and for how much. Forget about the ball carrying a Juventus badge, but since Ronaldo left Real Madrid, Benzema has matured into their main man, playing with more freedom and confidence, I don't think he'll want to come to juve to return to Ronaldo's shadow again.
4667  Other / Off-topic / Re: Contact tracer vs scammers. on: August 21, 2020, 08:00:40 AM
There are questions a covid-19 contact tracer from the health sector would not ask you, any question not pertaining to your health or individuals you've come in contact with in a certain period of time to aid tracing is unnecessary and if it progresses to personal information, payments, bank account details etc, then you've been contacted by scammers, not tracers.
4668  Economy / Economics / Re: Our country was called Province of China. on: August 20, 2020, 09:02:28 PM
What makes the African debt trap worse for the debtor countries is that much of this money is being embezzled by their governments, the leaders of these countries are corrupt, they bring forward plans and budgets for the loans, but if you follow the projects, you'll find out that little or nothing is being executed and the larger chunk of the money is going to their bank accounts.

That being said, it becomes impossible for the debts to be paid back and China are well smart to know this, if the debtors will use every cent of that money to the good use of their economy, they'll reap from it in many years to come and paying back the debts becomes possible, but from an African point of view, chances these corrupt African countries will ever meet up to pay is pretty low.
4669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Restaurant convert entire savings to Bitcoin on: August 20, 2020, 10:23:14 AM
It's quite risky considering BTC isn"t considered a safe haven asset necessarily, isn't it?
Even with the recession, pandemic and the money printing that will cause inflation, bitcoin can't as a result of that be considered as a safe haven asset, so just as you said it is a very perilous decision from this Canadian based restaurant owner. Bitcoin will definitely be an option against inflation and fiat devaluation, but isn't converting all the assets of his business to bitcoin against the rule of thumb of "investing with what you can afford to lose".

Bigger firms that have adopted bitcoin this year have put only parts of their assets, this decision could have consequences, mind you that it's also possible that this person is only using btc for the first time and is not prepared to handle a situation of volatility and FUD, and what it will mean for his business (restaurant).
4670  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] FULL MEMBER BITCOINTALK ACCOUNT on: August 20, 2020, 09:45:55 AM
Yeah, you're right.I didn't know that. if I get negative trust, I'll stop selling the account. I hope that doesn't happen
Oh, it will probably happen regardless of whatever.
It already has. Op has been tagged for 'selling his account', if you look at op's trust profile, the password was changed recently, so it looks like despite the warning that the account will be tagged, someone still went ahead to buy it, well that's the end of the road for the buyer and his money cause I'm sure the only reason why it was bought is to join campaigns that op was struggling to get into due to merit requirements.
4671  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {Warning}: Another fake and phishing Ledger on: August 20, 2020, 02:19:19 AM
They want security be done by someone/something else. This is crucial for hardware wallets users to learn what is phishing.
On the bolded part above, their hardware wallet is doing that for them already, but the HW's defenses are broken when the users enter their seed phrase on any site or post it for public viewing and btw the wallet comes with a warning not to do so. HW wallet users should understand that no matter how secure their wallet is, their funds aren't technically stored in it (the wallet) but in the blockchain network, and with their seed, all the scammer needs to do is to import their keys (which is stored/protected by the HW device) in another interoperable wallet and spend the funds.
This is real danger for hardware wallets users actually. Why? Because they usually are not experienced in tech since they using hardware wallets.
Are software wallet users "experienced in tech" ? I don't know how you came about with the quoted assertion above, but AFAIK, the wallet standard used doesn't determine how tech savvy the user of the wallet is. See this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5269446.0 and I agree with quite a lot that was said in it, I'll quote o_e_l_e_o's reply here:
There is no wallet in existence which is immune to user error or human stupidity. If you type your seed phrase in to a website or store it online, then your funds will be stolen, and there is nothing any wallet can do to stop that from happening. Hardware wallets are good for a number of reasons, but they are not infallible, not immune to bugs or vulnerabilities, and can't stop a user doing something stupid like sharing their seed phrase with a random website or confirming transactions without double checking them.

I tried opening the link but I think the account is already gone. At least YouTube is now making actions towards this kind of scam giveaways.
Yes, and if YT takes down scam (giveaway) videos quicker, it will save people from falling for it. After the Twitter hack and the resultant giveaway scam from those accounts, I think websites and social media handles are now more alert about this tricks and take immediate actions when reported or caught.
4674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 19, 2020, 04:03:26 PM
Interesting transfer rumour. Rodriguez is now 29 and so I wonder what is the price tag that Real Madrid have in mind. Still it's a good love to off load players struggling. His current contract is till next year June. He also has some interest from United and Arsenal.
James Rodriguez needs to leave Real Madrid once and for all, no more loans if he wants to discover himself once again, I doubt that James would cost much, no doubt he is talented, but he's been a flop for quite a long time now, Lazio is a good alternative, they had a good season in seria A last season and Rodriguez will bolster their squad to maybe challenge Juve next season.

But if United or Arsenal are interested as well, the attention/hype the Epl gets can also help James' career, moving to one of those clubs will put him in the spotlight, and he has been far from that for a long time. I'll be disappointed if James remains in Madrid or goes out on loan, but it's possible, look at Gareth Bale for example.
4675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Reminder]: Read the ToS of a exchange site first before registering on: August 19, 2020, 08:24:12 AM
...
HitBTC stating in the Tos that they'll force users using their service in a restricted jurisdiction to withdraw their crypto assets sounds more like they are forcing the user out, but not with their funds, because it's impossible for such users to pass KYC on HitBTC, so how can they leave the exchange with their assets?

I know how frustrating "support" can be on some centralized exchanges, if HitBTC fail to recover assets when their customers make mistakes like this (failing to read HitBTC's Tos) it is because they only decide not to, and will prolly channel the funds to their own use and it's bad for their reputation to the community.
4676  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Boosting Morale for newbies. Giving newbie a merit. on: August 18, 2020, 04:13:40 PM
I would really appreciate if i could get a merit because i'm trying to expand my business.
Have been googling and finding a way to get merit but it seems tough!
Without a merit i can only post links of my pictures and that doesnt seem to make my thread appealing ahaha! Please help sir! Give the newbies a chance to shine  Grin
"Don't beg for merits". If you have a business of any sort and you want to make posts about it with images, buy a copper membership and you can then make your service thread with images as you like, if you don't want to buy a copper membership, make HQ posts to earn merits, mind you, begging for merits is against the rules and you will prolly be ignored by MS's and users if you keep up with that.
Do not beg for merit excessively.
4677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which site do you use to get fresh updates on different projects event on: August 18, 2020, 03:59:04 PM
The two sites I visit every few minutes for update are bitcointalk forum...
Of course btt, but all the crypto news are posted first on sites like cointelegraph for example, before users update users on the forum about it, and op is looking for news, events and updates to trade on and timing is very important. If op waits to get news about events on the forum, it will be late to trade based on the event.

Op I use cointelegraph and some of the other sites mentioned above already, you should be careful if you're going to trade on events posted on these sites, they are false sometimes and can be overhyped as well, which can forlead you.

Op sorry about the mix up in your transaction/address, as it stands your help can only come from coinbase and their support team, what was their reply when you contacted them about the issue? There's no doubt this whole process is going to be a very long and frustrating one, that could even end up in you not getting your coins back.

Just like the post above, try dragging coinbase out on some of their social media handles, every company hates it when they are in the spotlight for the wrong reason, hopefully coinbase may attend to your case and recover your funds. That being said, stick around in this community and also asks questions so this mistake doesn't happen twice.
4680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VIP telegram channels...is it worht it on: August 17, 2020, 05:46:56 PM
The paid VIP channels you see on Telegram and other sites are run by scammers, bear in mind also that even if a website is giving out signals for free, you should not still trust it and trade based on their analysis, it's the same as doing copy trading, which is risky and not reliable, follow your strategies you've learnt, if you have not learned any, start doing that before trading. So the catch is that trading is better when it's your work, you can take an online course on trading as well, if you pay for signals and it fails continuously, you will get frustrated and could keep on looking for the channel that will work and fall into the hands of more dangerous scammers.
