The translation I'm referring to translates it as "All matter arose from energy".  Other translations seem to have it more along the lines of "God creates physical existence", but I suppose that's just a difference of how much personality you want to attribute to the energy of the universe.

I suppose if there is one flaw to the vedic system it is the laziness it produces.  No need to worry about the physical world because you will get as many lives as you need to return to God.  So why bother improving the physical when it only distracts from inner journey of reuniting with the energy from which you arose?  Christianity is no better with its concept of heaven, yet somehow its followers chose a path of dominating others, which lead to scientific progress.  Since I can't find anything in the teachings of Christ that would lead to this, I suppose it must have already been a part of the culture of certain groups who later adopted Christianity, yet too late to save their cultural souls.

Bayes' rule is far more insightful than anything these spiritual dudes ever came up with. And he came up with it as a way to win more bets. On the other hand, the t-test and that whole field of stats was first developed to make sure Guinness wasn't sending out crappy batches of beer... then it got perverted.

The Upanishads begin with the statement that matter is energy.  It took scientists until Einstein to make the same claim.

I took a few years off after undergrad.  I graduated in '08.  I got interested in yoga when I was 19 and came across him shortly after that.  At the time he was pretty much the only person with knowledge of the Vedic scriptures that spoke English and provided free discourses.
Have you read this:

I Am That - by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
I found it fascinating, mind bending and worthwhile - nothing to do with Bitcoin except in the sense that being open to this may prepare you to being open to many things.

I tend to agree with the Amazon reviewer who states,

Nisargadatta Maharaj's "I AM THAT" is the last spiritual book you'll ever need to read.

I have not, but I will get it.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I recently purchased the album of MC Yogi, which has a song by the same name. Check him out on YouTube if you might like a combination of traditional Indian music and hip hop.
4664  Economy / Speculation / Re: So what if Pirate does not pay back, he has a full weekend to dump... on: August 19, 2012, 03:12:00 AM
I had a thought.... what if unthinkable happens, miracle of sorts. That anonymous guy who holds right now reportedly 500k BTC of sucker's money will somehow give to those suckers ~600k BTC indeed. Hypothetically speaking. Would I need to apologize? I thought and thought and pondered this unlikely eventuality... and no I will not apologize.

Well maybe, just maybe, I would apologize to some specific person if I really said something real wrong...

Otherwise, hell no! Whatever will happen to the pirates op, tomorrow another anonymous personage starts another ponzi looking op, I will say the same thing again. I have nothing to apologize for in either case, and it is not my mission to please anyone here.

What makes your proof of identity any better than Pirate's?  His name, face, birthdate, and location are all known by me and others who invested.  I know you are a Russian in the UK named Vladimir and that is it.  Don't give me any shit about being well known because pirate is too, just by a different clique.  I don't know any of your contacts.  But I didn't insult your business until I gave you money and was disappointed.

At this point deposits are closed, so you're not saving anyone anymore.
Well then you've not put much effort into looking up Vlad, he's not exactly been secretive about who he is or what his business interests are:

http://uk.linkedin.com/in/vladimirmarchenko
https://plus.google.com/100956912600586230755/about

tl;dr: He offered a lot of mining contracts early on in the life of bitcoin - I nearly bought one back when a 1Gh/s contract for a year was expected to yield about 8000 BTC  Cheesy

I know all about his mining contacts, pirate also does mining.  There are also similar links for Trendon Shavers that are simple to find, but he couldn't be bothered to do any research before slinging accusations, so why should I bother?

"I see very clearly, very soon, within next 5 years, a global currency happening"

ROFL ... what the hack !!!!!

notme, how you found this???
do you look every youtube video waiting for something said about currency?

I used to watch him a lot in my younger, more naive days.  He has matured quite a bit since then, and so have I.  I still watch a video a few times a year to see what he's up to.  Sometimes he does have some good insight into the human condition, but like anyone who claims to be special, he must be taken with a large dose of salt.

well then the question becomes, how did you find him when you were in your teens?  you must be only around 23, just entering grad school, lol!  Cheesy

Does anybody even have any evidence the coins were sent to an exchange?  Or are you all just trading on wild speculation?  If the latter, enjoy your loss.
4668  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] The price of bitcoin 24 hours before block reward halving on: August 18, 2012, 11:56:25 PM
I put my bet around 17 US$ per BTC

Yea seems realistic. Also much depends on september announcement. Price can either tank or shoot to the moon. Wink

Gavin has always been speaking of the stability of bitcoin protocol/system and not the price.

I doubt Gavin's announcement has a direct relation to the price of bitcoins.

September has to do with cashing out, which should help keep the price from rising too fast.

Ultimately a long term higher price is desired by Gavin and most of us.

Hence I don't think he will want the price to crash. But that's just my take.

Making it easier to cash out won't crash the price unless you assume the only reason the price is so high is difficulty in cashing out.  Making it easier to get fiat for bitcoin will increase the usefulness of bitcoin, thus supporting price, but in a sane manner.

Gavin running "full-time" suggests his vision is "long-term".

I know many people here do, but I don't usually make strong statements when I'm guessing Wink.  But keep up the speculations.  It's amusing me.

4672  Economy / Speculation / Re: rolling the dice...whats your plan now? on: August 18, 2012, 10:46:51 PM
Bought in at $8ish, moved out of cold storage when it was at $13.80, by the time it was available I sold at $12.40. I'm probably going to jump back in on Monday or Wednesday when it hits south of $10.

I'm still long on BitCoins but why not make 30-50% more coins by taking a gamble.

Because you might end up with less, hence the term gamble.

Yeah, while you are at it can you find out who is John Galt?

I went to school with a John Galt.  He lives in Indianapolis, Indiana now.
4674  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pirate paying back investors within a week OR two? on: August 18, 2012, 10:29:30 PM
Don't like what truth's I have to say?

What you call "truths" are not truths. They are just speculation. There is a speculation forum here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0. Why not post there? Why are you cluttering up these forums with this trash?

The only thing that I said was speculation was if he would return the funds or not.

All of my other comments which is 90% of what I said is fact:

Fact #1 - Pirate had at least 500k btc of investors' funds

Fact #2 - Pirate lifted referral requirement 4 weeks ago

Fact #3- He has paid 28% in interest in the past 4 weeks. Close to 140k BTC.

Fact #4 - He said we will pay all investors plus this weekly interest within a week.

I haven't seen proof for fact 1.  It might be true, but your figure seems a bit high to me.  Can you point me to some evidence for this claim since it is the lynchpin of your thesis?
4675  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I've said pirateat40 was running a ponzi on: August 18, 2012, 10:27:38 PM
If pirate is no longer accepting deposits, what's the point?  You can no longer claim you're trying to protect people.  The lines are drawn, your views are known.  Nothing to do now but wait.
4676  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pirate paying back investors within a week OR two? on: August 18, 2012, 10:01:51 PM
So what's happening with Pirate pass throughs? For those who think Pirate will pay everyone back, they should be worth close to face value. For those who think Pirate is a Ponzi, they are worthless. So what does the market think?

They are going for very slightly below face value.  For those who invested through me, they have already been repaid in full from my personal funds.

Here you go, here is the proof.

Whether notme will get BTC denominated refund upon request or any refund at all depends on a number of factors. I do not know what it will be. Contact customer support, they will sort your problem.

This is my last offtopic message in this thread, sorry for this.

I think he should get BTC...as that is what he sent as payment. See Notme I can be on both sides and see the other side's perspective.

I know you're not all bad... I just enjoy giving you shit Wink

Sorry but honestly what you say to give me "shit" really doesn't bother me. lol this is all entertaining for me...

Good, I'm not trying to be an asshole, just have slightly heated discussions with someone I know can handle it.  Entertainment is my goal as well.

Anyway, carry on pirate haters and magazine scammers Tongue.
4678  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Pirate paying back investors within a week OR two? on: August 18, 2012, 09:56:45 PM
Why yet another thread with accusations based on assumptions.  Don't we have enough already.  Can't you just wait a week, or do you have nothing better to do?

Why are you crying still? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Stop reading the forum for a week then.

Don't like what truth's I have to say?

Yes my thoughts on him not having all the bitcoins is still speculation, but all of the FACTS (interest paid, referral req. lifted, etc.) point to the conclusion that people will not get their money back in the short period pirate has claimed.

I might have to leave for a while... pirate's already the topic of every fucking thread, yet you insist on making more.

This is my question to you and many others:

What's so fucking irritating about me making another thread on this forum? Seems like people only complain about threads that point people in the direction of them possibly losing their money due to a scam. You are one of them complaining. It's a fucking thread for crying out loud. If you see a title with pirate in it don't read it or if you do don't cry. Just like if you lost money with pirate, don't cry.

It's annoying because there is no longer any other content.  Pirate has consumed these forums.  Other than seeing if Vladimir has anything else to say, I think I will walk away for at least a few days.  Nothing to see here but more pirate speculation.  I miss the other content.

Yet I still don't have issue 1 Roll Eyes.  Nice proof.  I want to read the magazine, that's the problem.  Also, every other fucking thread has had offtopic posts about pirate, I think this one can afford a few about your magazine.  I have sent yet another email to your support staff and if they don't give me a better clue about when it will be shipped I will ask for a refund.  But if I can't get my full BTC amount back, you will be no different than pirate in my eyes (assuming he defaults).  If he doesn't default, you will be much worse.
