Just wondering what's the best alternative for plastic if we hit glass supply shortage?
Maybe Steel Wine bottles, some other metal, or going back to good old ceramic and animal skin bottles.

Not at all, I think that steel and aluminum can alter taste. And I think that TetraPack is also plastic/metal combination so also no.
But I think that burned clay (I don't know the better words for it) recipients can be the proper alternative.
There may be the Greeks and Romans have been using the same "some" years ago Grin (who said that history is not repeating itself?)

Hello si bine ai (re?) venit!

Nu am mai intrat pe un forum de multi ani, deci sper sa imi aduc aminte cat de cat regulile de conduita.  Grin

I've read that it can be simply a Firefox problem: bad handling on GPU hardware and disabling hardware acceleration may be just the easy fix.
Also I've read that Opera may be a good replacement, or an option to check whether you have the same issues at browsing, without opening Firefox.

So this is what you're busy with when you pretend to work hard at the second job?!

That is not wine.
That is not a wine bottle.

I can totally understand that some may be pickier and some not about the wine selection ( https://clip.cafe/hot-fuzz-2007/whats-wine-selection/ [sorry, I couldn't find this clip at a better place]), I also think that you should be more open minded, because that's the way to discover more interesting things.
4685  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Watch only wallet with Private key on: February 10, 2022, 08:30:36 AM
But I would like to understand why if I leave it like that where the address is empty and the wallet is imported, after 2 days (it varies) it turns to watching only and the address change to my original address which was never imported to Electrum.

My take is that another software is replacing the original wallet file with an old/different/watch only wallet file.
I don't know if it was meant for protection, or recovery, or it's a malware doing this, that's why one of my (and others') suggestions was to try this on another computer.
This doesn't look like a problem of Electrum, it looks like a problem with your system.
4686  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on signatures for 1xbit campaign participants, do you agree? on: February 09, 2022, 04:23:16 PM
This is just spam, regardless of what shitty casino they're promoting.

If that's the case, it would be nice the mods also step in and confirm.
If this is the case then indeed ban is in order.
4687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upcoming Apple iPhone feature for crypto payments on: February 09, 2022, 04:20:46 PM
I didn't look deeper, but maybe Stripe (whose actually is this "Tap to Pay") gives more details?

If Stripe would allow crypto payments we would know it the second they say something about it, after they've ditched crypto payments back in 2018 this would be like one of those truly important moments, everyone would see it as a huge company realizing it was a mistake to ditch bitcoin and probably it would top every other news to date this year.

But no, they are silent about it, since last year when they said they are open to rethinking there was no news about it.

If we go really down the speculation path, yeah it could end with them accepting crypto, this move has been dubbed "Square killer"so if they want to really compete against the devices Square sells then they should cover all the markets, but..just speculation to this point.

Hmmm... I've searched a little deeper and I indeed didn't find anything clear about them accepting crypto.
It looks like a speculation indeed, it tells that it can, technically, be also used for accepting crypto unless it'll be blocked by Apple. Or basically if the stars align and whatever boss there has a nice dream about bitcoin. And then they've hinted to the partnership with Coinbase.

Although I still have some hopes that I could have been missing something, I think that there's a high chance you're right. I'm somewhat disappointed...

I opened Firefox's task manager, but it's not showing anything out of the ordinary. Incidentally, what makes me even more suspicious is that I close Firefox and wait, and CPU usage stays near 100%.

...After you closed Firefox it may hang (with no UI) while some part of it is working... At least on Windows this is not uncommon.

Since I have no idea what can it be, I would start with doing changes that can help me find the culprit.
What if you use another browser for a while? It could be a test to show whether the problem is with your Firefox, some website or something else.
Also you can take a look what extensions you have installed, maybe you see anything suspicious.

These are 2 ideas/directions you can try.
And/or you can wait for answers from people more into Linux...

Yes, but I’m not vaccinated, because until now it seemed to me that this was just a convention ...

As a heavy smoker, I have severe shortness of breath in the mornings and evenings .... so for the most part I worry that my already deplorable lung condition will get worse (although I have not yet taken a test). No matter how stupid it may sound, my subconscious will feel better if it does not know about the diagnosis and will position the current state as a common cold, (although I admit I feel inner anxiety).

I hope that this will help, at least with the anxiety part: most of my family is not vaccinated and the symptoms were easy.
So keep staying optimistic, drink a lot of tea/infusion, sleep as much as you can.
Our doc told us take Aspenter (gastro-resistant aspirin) once/day, 14 days (for the adults) and that was it all. But we didn't even got a fever off this, just a lot of coughing.
The difference is though that we don't smoke...

Good luck!
4690  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit blocks withdrawals with 0.53 BTC in account on: February 09, 2022, 02:46:19 PM
I'll just quote one of my replies to somebody else in this same situation:

Did you do some basic research about this website before playing so much money there? No? Why?!
Unfortunately you're not the first one with problems there. And, since people never learn, you'll probably not be the last one either.
All I can tell is that I'm sorry for you. Quite a costly lesson.

I am sure that from now on you'll look more carefully and use the services of websites with much better reputation.
4691  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on signatures for 1xbit campaign participants, do you agree? on: February 09, 2022, 02:43:50 PM
OP, while your intentions are most probably good, the correct approach is in RapTarX answer.
Let's keep the same rules for everybody, no matter how annoying or how big scammers they are.

Negative feedback and flags are the tools for this. People have to learn to read and understand those.
4692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 09, 2022, 02:39:28 PM
Fuck... covid got to my family.

Woah. Best of luck then, I wish it's Omicron, I wish you and your family the easy version with small or no symptoms.
I'm telling you because me and my whole family had it and we didn't feel it more like a winter cold (and I know it was COVID since we got tested).
4693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Call for help to the forum's security experts on: February 09, 2022, 02:31:20 PM
What's your OS?

Fedora 30. Linux.

Right now, I'm seeing CPU usage in the upper 90% only on Firefox, which makes no sense.

Does it happen always or it's related to visiting certain website? I'm asking because it was not uncommon, especially a couple of years ago, for websites to have crypto miners hidden in their pages.
You may want to take a look what does Firefox' task manager tell. Maybe it gives you a clue who's the culprit: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/task-manager-tabs-or-extensions-are-slowing-firefox
4694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Deception of manipulators or new rise in prices? on: February 09, 2022, 02:24:43 PM
and I think that market makers will not raise prices now, because many people bought bitcoin in the range of 45-60 thousand dollars.

I'm not that much convinced that you're correct since in the last year the trading volumes weren't so great.

While indeed, some could have been buying in around the first months of 2021, afterwards there weren't so many new buyers, especially knowing that certain institutional investors kept buying and stashing all they could. (..and the price still managed to jump to 69k despite the low volumes)

So while I clearly don't agree with those "known bloggers" strategies (I'm not convinced they care much of crypto as long as they get so many followers and probably income off them), I can't really tell that your conclusion is that much correct either, especially with so many good news (about adoption) coming. But maybe I'm wrong... I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't tell anything for sure. Wink
4695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upcoming Apple iPhone feature for crypto payments on: February 09, 2022, 01:45:41 PM
but I believe this implementation is nothing new.

I wouldn't be surprised. The only differences I'd expect would be that's an app directly on the phone (don't need to search for the correct app), it's endorsed under the umbrella of Apple and it's probably kinda ready to use (no need to configure this or that). I would not be surprised if they will even allow the merchant choose whether he will actually receive crypto or fiat.

Not a single word about either crypto or bitcoin.

I didn't look deeper, but maybe Stripe (whose actually is this "Tap to Pay") gives more details?
4696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upcoming Apple iPhone feature for crypto payments on: February 09, 2022, 01:15:46 PM
Apple have planned to launch its tap to pay feature for the upcoming Apple iPhone.

While it's indeed a good step forward, I don't see it as a super wow news if it's not coming to also the older iPhone versions.
Many do prefer older iPhone simply because it's smaller. Or cheaper.

But this may be copied pretty soon by some Android phone makers and then it'll become interesting. After that, in max 2 years, everybody will have that option at hand.
4697  Economy / Economics / Re: Fungibility on: February 09, 2022, 12:45:30 PM
Is there an ongoing discussion about this?

There may have been very few, but it was nothing big, because this information of you is incorrect:

A coin that was used for "illicit" activities is not worth as a newly minted coin.

There are far too few who care whether some of their coins can be tracked back to illicit use.
There's a saying like "if the (river's) water has passed over 7 stones, you can consider it clean". Obviously it's false, but something similar goes on with Bitcoin too. If you buy and sell and transfer in all directions, sooner or later your coins will get partly tainted. But if the related illicit transactions are "way behind", nobody really cares.

And that's why such discussion doesn't pick much traction: people are not interested in paying a premium for fresh coins, since the partly tainted coins are not "punished".

---
Of course, the coins directly liked to illicit action or poorly laundered are a different story.

I just created a flag, please support it here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2907

Warned both CMC and CG and soon CEX will be delisted/tagged.
