4681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka Government Banned Online Gambling on: October 07, 2021, 10:49:47 PM
Shouldn't they include all forms of gambling if they are talking about gambling all the same? If the situation is grave in the said state, then people coming from the said area should avoid trying to access gambling sites illegally. It's quite saddening that they have to react negatively (and in a somewhat exaggerated manner) due to the death of a single individual whom cannot control themselves from gambling. It affects a whole industry and the population which relies on the said industry.

Lawmakers in Karnataka should invest more in studying the effects of gambling on one's mind and not just preemptively create laws banning something they do not fully grasp, understand, or control.
4682  Economy / Economics / Re: Will governments capitulate and finally recognize Bitcoin as a legal tender? on: October 07, 2021, 08:50:51 PM
It will take some time before governments finally agree to it. A lot of research is still needed to be done before nations can allow bitcoin to be used as a legal tender. I'm all in for that idea but it's pretty hard to achieve. El Salvador, for sure, made a lot of rigorous research and sifted through a lot its own legal framework before they granted the cryptocurrency its current legal status.

Also, most countries still have a pretty stable currency of their own, that the need to introduce a new legal tender is not really necessary and may even be detrimental to those countries' economies.
4683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Related Question Comes In a Admission Test Exam on: October 07, 2021, 08:08:21 PM
Not surprised that bitcoin will make the cut for such questions in an academe. The world is getting increasingly aware of its existence and what it does to to the economy. While Bangladesh isn't known to be 100% crypto friendly, the mere fact that a university featured even a single question about bitcoin is already a huge deal, as they are acknowledging its presence. This is a pretty good start, and since students will be seeing that question and answering it, their curiosity will surely grow even more that they will soon seek the answers and then ask for more questions themselves.
4684  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: *Day Traders* are now calling gambling Addiction helplines!! on: October 07, 2021, 06:04:38 PM
I wonder if these apps are those bet up or down on the price for the next 30 seconds? It's kinda like dice to me, just that they embedded charts and the market movement into the mix and the odds are always 50/50. Anyway, I'm not surprised even if these 'trading' apps are not even involved. Some daytraders are really into trading that much that they are risking lots of money that they don't have thinking that their reads might hit the greens the next time around. It's that greed and that urge to win anything at all cost.
4685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want to see Bitcoin legal in your country? on: October 07, 2021, 02:35:22 PM
Of course, since the legal status of bitcoin and crypto in my country will certainly bring about adoption and awareness about the existence and the utility of cryptocurrencies. It will be a long and winding journey towards legalization but we'll get there, slowly but surely. Right now, the government is already assessing and conducting researches on cryptocurrencies, though they still warn the masses to stay vigilant and exercise due diligence when it comes to cryptocurrencies. It's a small step, at least they are already aware of bitcoin and crypto, but it's still a long way to go.
4686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL- Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: October 07, 2021, 01:05:22 PM
Looks like DOTA2 has a tournament going on with The Internationals 10.
Woke up too late for the first of the rounds matches as they are in progress.
Also League of Legends has their World championships kicking off in about 45 minutes.
They can all be bet on here at sportsbet.io Esports hub:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/betsy

All of these major tournaments for esports, with the exception of cs:go, all begin too early in the morning for me to place any wagers on.
Once again, good luck to you ralle14 on those matches today.

If there's any games that I would bet on today, this would all be for League and some Tier 1 Dota 2 teams. On the International. most teams are still saving strats for the latter part of the game which can be a pain for bettors since the teams that they will be betting on might intentionally lose some games in order to keep their potential enemies guessing of what they have in the bag.

Either way, TI and Worlds are the two most important esports tournament right now that no one should miss, especially those gamers that also happen to be bettors.
4687  Economy / Economics / Re: Is budgeting still effective in tackling the need to constantly withdraw money? on: October 06, 2021, 10:00:40 PM
I still work on a budget, and try to restrict myself from withdrawing and spending for unnecessary things in my life. It’s hard at first, but it’s worth trying especially if you’re just living alone like me. Though things will change once you have a family that you’re raising. Budgeting will then, be hard and there will surely be times when you need to swipe and withdraw some cash. You can’t really say no to that, as that’s the needs of your family. Hence why the family dynamics nowadays is different compared to the last few decades, as both parents need to work in order to serve some food on the plate.
4688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When ETH GAS Price will stable? We paid 33.74$ GAS price for 10$ token transfer. on: October 06, 2021, 06:32:19 PM
This is why I try to avoid using ETH or any coin that uses GAS fees. The fees are straight up obnoxious and doesn’t seem to go down at a more reasonable price. While the rest of the world complains about btc tx fees being high, they haven’t peeked into what ETH has in store for us when it comes to tx fees. And here I was thinking that the past upgrades would solve most of these problems, but they’re still there unfortunately.
4689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice for fun or profits on: October 05, 2021, 09:01:04 PM
I spend an hour or two max watching numbers on screen randomize itself for me hoping that I get a win, and that to me is fun since you don't know whether the next roll is a green or a fed. I only bet a small amount though, not that great to break the bank, and I also play regularly on the weekends just to kill time. I'd be a hypocrite if I tell you that I never expected a win once, or chased those wager rewards knowing how close I am in reaching it, but the 'fun' factor of dice, for me, is what's kept me hooked in it for so long.
4690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future on: October 05, 2021, 05:04:28 PM
Give it a decade or two and the general perception towards change and advancements on technology will change. There are still a lot of boomers and people who lived during the olden times wherein these tech that we have isn’t even available or quite unheard of. Not that we are engrossed too much in the present, it’s just that change is just hard to accept especially if it’s happening almost quite instantly. I know sooner or later, the society will learn to accept these things and move on, as change is inevitable and they will see the benefits later on of what these changes are about.
4691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Legalized Gambling where you live..where does it stand? on: October 05, 2021, 04:10:31 PM
I live in the Philippines, and it’s a strange country to be in as offshore gambling services represented by mostly Chinese nationals and organizations are allowed, whereas the online gambling industry is mostly frowned upon and may sometimes lead you to trouble when the bank that you’re using is strict when it comes to gambling-related transfers. There isn’t any law explicitly stating that online gambling is prohibited, but banks themselves are blocking transfers from online gambling providers, and I’ve heard lots of stories from people which got their funds stuck for a long time before they managed to withdraw it after a long battle against the banks that withheld their money.
4692  Economy / Economics / Re: Why exchanges are charging a big amount as transaction fee on withdrawal on: October 05, 2021, 02:40:02 PM
This is the reason why I try to seek for p2p options when I want to convert my coins into quick cash. Some exchange platforms already have this, and they are IMO quite reasonable as opposed to the fees imposed by the platform itself. Also with it, the ones who will send the funds to my bank account would be a singular entity, and not a huge organization or a company which will surely follow with some questioning on the bank’s side as to the nature of the transferred amount.

Binance has a good P2P platform embedded within the exchange, though there will be times wherein the exchange rate is against you, but when compared to the fees imposed by binance, it is more economical and faster, too.
4693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto misinformation is turning into an issue for people new to the game. on: October 02, 2021, 01:17:51 PM
Since internet became widespread, misinformation has become a huge problem for everyone, not just people who wanted to get in to crypto. There are tons of inaccurate and misleading materials out there that does not help anyone. This leads to lots of losses in $ and lots of negative impression on cryptocurrencies. At the end of the day, it's still a DYOR and invest at your own risk kind of environment, but if you can help educate, do it to save someone from losing their money.
4694  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Plandemic Survey] I wonder how many of you have been vaccinated ? on: October 02, 2021, 12:37:05 PM
I'm vaccinated, it is free of charge, and is done on my own volition. I work in a lab wherein COVID samples are delivered to, and we do the testing directly to confirm whether the virus is present in the sample or not. Even if I do not work in an environment wherein we are required to get the vaccine, I'd still take the jab as the shots undergone all the necessary trials before it was rendered safe to be administered on humans by the WHO and other independent scientific organizations and bodies.
4695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The misconception when buying/investing in Bitcoin on: October 02, 2021, 11:40:06 AM
Bought and accumulated a decent amount before 2017 and the max I bought was below 0.5 in one go. I was actually still a skeptic back then because there are still some things that doesn’t sit right with me when it comes to bitcoins. Still bought it and never looked back, and that may still be one of my best decisions in life. Since then, no matter the price, I make sure to buy bitcoins whenever I have the extra funds. I don’t wait for the market to dip, just buy as soon as I can, and hold it for the long term.
4696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin the hedge against inflation on: October 02, 2021, 10:05:40 AM
Hence why some huge companies are already purchasing bitcoin in huge numbers. If the data and statistics don't speak for themselves, these companies would probably just ignore bitcoin up to now and stick with their assets and fiat, however that's not the case.

During the first year of the pandemic, bitcoin outperformed lots of traditional assets in terms of valuation. While the rest of the world's economy is scrambling to patch itself up and prevent itself from collapsing, bitcoin just didn't care and zoomed to its new ATH. Of course, a lot of hype and FOMO kicked in during those times, but to know that a lot of people were willing to buy bitcoin in the midst of a pandemic says something about the asset itself.
4697  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin an independent property? on: October 02, 2021, 09:01:03 AM
Most countries will probably treat it as you and your partner's conjugal property once both of you are legally married. Cars, real estate, and other tangible properties will immediately fall under this category, although when it comes to digital assets like bitcoin and crypto, it will most probably be vague and subject to multiple court proceedings until both parties agree upon a settlement that works for both. Personally, I wouldn't divulge to my partner that I do have digital assets. Not being greedy or anything, but it's better that way and to just be safe as well.
4698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why NFTs projects are not making wave-like ICOs on: October 02, 2021, 07:55:42 AM
NFTs are overly-hyped with little to no value in them that almost everyone can create one and market it as something 'unique' or 'expensive' even though it's just a random ass memorabilia stamped in the blockchain.

ICOs gained so much exposure and success back when they're the thing because coins back then offered more promising returns to a wider demographic, even if the coin fails to deliver anything of value to the market. On the other hand, most NFTs only target the uber-rich, and the chances of making a sale is close to nil. It only boomed on its infancy, and the hype later died after people realized what NFTs really are in essence.

Both aimed to make quick bucks, but ICOs helped other people too and not just creators to make money when they're the thing.
4699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bangladesh may be approve bitcoin very soon according to ICT MINISTER on: October 02, 2021, 07:25:58 AM
His comments do not represent the stance of the whole government, though either way it's still great input considering that his remarks are positive towards bitcoin. It's just that it's hard to bank on the weight of his words right now that most of the government are still having second thoughts and extreme doubts about bitcoin. Perhaps he can use his position to influence or at least have other members of the government view bitcoin in a different light, but right now he needs to do what he has to do for the government and maybe just integrate plans on legalizing bitcoin with it.
4700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting to begin this Thursday in Connecticut on: October 01, 2021, 11:19:36 PM
More players in the field = more competition and more benefits for the gamblers. They will have access to different platforms and the overall quality of sports betting platforms in the said state would increase. It's a good news and a breath of fresh air, considering that the past few months brought forth lots of negative news about gambling. It is generally a frowned-upon activity, but it brings in jobs and money to the economy.
