Since August is the timeline for PBA to announce their final decision, I doubt they can resume this year. It's just around less than 2 months to go. PBA still needs more time to prepare even they are now allowed to resume so let's say if we will base it on how NBA works on their resume, it's 2 months after the decision. That's why PBA choose August so at least they can resume on either by September or October, enough to finish one conference by end of the year.

Still hoping though that we can see a decline in numbers within a month.

Because of that, we can go back to business slowly as long as we are following the safety protocol which is now part of the new normal living.

PBA will not die, it's impossible don't worry even they will remain suspended for years. They are backed by large companies and can go back anytime they want. But the problem here is the approval from IATF. They can't just say "we want to resume". They need to propose their plan to IATF and wait for approval. As of now, what they are seeking to be approved is for teams to allowed to resume their practice.

We don't have the same quarantine status compare to other countries wherein they are allowed to resume their leagues, whatever the number of cases, as long as they will be approved by their government. Here in PH, allowed activities are based on what is covered to the quarantine status. To be specific, large sports events are not allowed during GCQ. They will only be allowed if Manila shifted to MGCQ which is unlikely to happen for now considering the daily confirmed case rates.

I also doubt that they will be given special consideration if PBA wants to resume under GCQ. That's why I also mentioned a few pages back if they can consider resuming outside Manila. But that will be a hassle process starting from choosing the event location, facilities, etc. I have never read any news too about some of their proposed plans like no audience, how the players will be quarantined, safety protocols, etc. so I guess they will just wait for IATF to approve large sports events (I understand though because of budget concerns), totally different to the eagerness of other leagues to resume on different countries even they have large confirmed cases compare to us.

We will see the setup once it resumed if this no home-court advantage can truly affect their performance. But knowing NBA players, with or without home-crowd they can still play at their best. Not really matters at all if they will play without their home-crowd.

The vaccine will cure the virus but the infection is still there. There are also cases of virus re-activation that makes it harder to create a vaccine for it. So it will really take several years before we go back to the usual normal we have been used to.

As for sports, they should resume slowly. Not that it's a risk but they have to. They just have to follow the most important and necessary things to do to somehow minimize the risks of being infected. We can go back to a "new normal" sports betting because of that.

Sounds hassle so better just cancel the league for good and restart the season next year. I always report a scam YT channel whenever I encounter one either via on my own or when I read a thread related to this.

That's what I'm trying to point out on my previous post regardless of the numbers of cases here in PH and to other countries that will resume their respective leagues. Thousands of cases here against millions of cases on other country is not a basis that IATF will look at if they will allow large sports events here such as basketball. Also, no special treatment even PBA will likely propose to resumed even under the GCQ.

For now, it's likely that Manila will remain under GCQ for at least months or might be revert back to ECQ if the numbers of confirmed cases will still grow in the next few days.

PAGCOR is the largest contributor of revenue to the PH government, even much larger compare to BIR and BOC. That's how important the re-opening of casinos under them. Not just it will help their employees but the government needs more funds to battle the pandemic virus and not just the majority of will be put on the family's assistance for a long period.
