4681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the things to look for when buying Altcoin? on: January 24, 2021, 05:33:21 AM
Currently, if you want to buy any altcoin, it is very difficult. You can't choose an option quite easily.
Yes, that's correct. It's not an easy task choosing a particular alt to invest in, especially at a time like this. Two things have guarded my decision in picking alts to buy in the past, and those are:
1. I check if the alt has utility and use-case. My attention is drawn to alts that have real life uses and can solve relevant issues.
2. The total supply of a coin is another thing for me. I don't like investing in a coin with a huge supply. I like to keep supply under millions. Anything billion scares me. Well, I can manage 1 billion mark if I think a token has irresistible programmes and utility. Anything above 1 billion supply is me just trying to play around with loose money.

However, I have added a third recently — Community. I like to look at tokens with active community on social media. It somehow gives one the idea of what's going on with the project.
4682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Had you sold your Bitcoins ? on: January 24, 2021, 04:29:22 AM
I already sold out all my Bitcoins, and other crypto.

I don't want to risk. i would buy Bitcoin again when it visits $6000 again, maybe next year.

What about you?
But of course, seeing what's happening now I believe you've realized that you sold way too early. Even at this point, those who are still selling now are also selling too early. Except one is selling to take care of urgent financial needs, otherwise it's a weak hand panicking. Bitcoin price isn't crashing any time soon. Those who sell now may not be able to buy back at the rate the bulls are eating up the corrections. This is a bull year, so we should expect Bitcoin to continue to soar into (at least) the third quarters of 2021. I am bullish this year on Bitcoin and I believe many are too.
4683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to still make a good return from Bitcoin? on: January 24, 2021, 02:45:58 AM
My question: Should I just forget about bitcoin now and go back to my business?
I don't see any way buying or hodling Bitcoin distracts you from engaging in your business. Do your business and also transact in Bitcoin. Already you're in gains having bought in 2019 at a time when skepticism and low moment characterized the Bitcoin community. You've an edge already on the market. So, why do you want to bow out now?

Yes! Bitcoin is now owned and controlled by the regulators (aka bankers).
Nope! That assertion is faulty. Bitcoin is a community owned asset. No single person controls it.
4684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin advertising by celebrities. on: January 24, 2021, 01:47:52 AM
If the time stamp truly read December 2020, then I think Megan's supposed advertisement of Bitcoin is all about the celebrity and not about Bitcoin. I never knew her until now but I knew of Bitcoin 4 years ago. Again, why did she have to wait until the rally to promote Bitcoin if her post was anything to go by? Anyway, it's just that Bitcoin is a reputable brand, I normally stay away from ant token celebrities promote because more often than not those tokens get over estimated and don't do well in the market.
4685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Cardano (ADA) coin hit $10 During 2021? on: January 23, 2021, 06:38:00 PM
Nah! I don't think it can garner that momentum to do $10 in 2021. Though I believe this year is a crypto year I honestly don't even see ADA going that higher; not in 2021, not ever. The total supply is huge and that won't allow it fly except there is burning. I mean 45,000,000,000 total supply isn't a joke. What it simply means is that at $10, the market cap for Cardano will be a huge $450 billion. That's unrealizable. There won't even be scarcity in the first place to create a scramble for it in the market. A billion supply would be more reliable achieving $10 than 45 billion.
4686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin halal? on: January 23, 2021, 04:50:28 PM
Whether or not Bitcoin is halal has been a point of contention for many Muslims, as well as several Islamic banks and financial authorities in recent years.

This has left many Muslims worried about investing in cryptocurrencies—particularly during times of extreme growth—since they couldn't be sure whether the appreciation of their investment would be considered haram (forbidden) or halal (permissible) under Islamic law.
Well, the good thing about Bitcoin is that it's decentralized. No single individual, sect, religion or country can control it. Again, whether a group of people think Bitcoin is good or bad from a religious point of view is immaterial and highly inconsequential. What about situations where Moslems have thought alcohol is haram but they also enjoy proceeds of tax from alcohol manufacturing companies spent on building good roads, hospitals, social infrastructure and so on? I think religion shouldn't be a point of consideration while dealing with Bitcoin (or any other crypto at that). Perhaps those who make that allegation of Bitcoin being haram still think Bitcoin is gambling. Otherwise, they would've seen the big picture and realized that their condemnation doesn't hold waters.
4687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Random thoughts on future Bitcoin supply on: January 23, 2021, 03:55:38 PM
I am one of those who believe that Bitcoin supply in circulation can never be 21 million when it's finally mined. The reason being of lost Bitcoin due to inaccessibility from hodlers who might've died leaving no access to their wallets or those who are alive but can't assess their wallets. It's sour grapes if we put all that into consideration. On the second question, I think scarce supply will increase the demand and further drive price up. It's a win for early adopters who are still keeping their Bitcoin and also for the entire community.
4688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin price had not crashed in 2018 on: January 22, 2021, 01:29:32 PM
You are not alone.

What a great time a lot of us never got to live in. I bet a lot of us still think that time never happened, and that it was all forklore once seeing Bitcoin abysmally at that price. Well, that actually happened. It's the same way most of the penny stocks we have today will soar too in future. I once had an appreciable amount of BNB which I sold in 2018 for $3 per token. Today, we all know how much one BNB is worth. Tough luck, right? 🤔

Heal yourself buddy, don't beat yourself up. Stop looking for who to put the blame on and accept the fact your were just unlucky.
OP should know that we all have our share of regrets too in this game. Moving on is the best approach to heal. Lambo will come one day, if one perseveres.
4689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the point of so many cryptocurrencies? on: January 22, 2021, 01:08:27 PM
some might argue that the reason behind so many tokens is because they're different problem each were created to solve
Well, I guess I can safely mark myself as one of the "some" because I believe in "the more the merrier" philosophy. I like options, without which will mean confining me to limitation. And that's dictatorship to me. More tokens in the market give us options to choose from. What do you think would be happening if only Bitcoin were in the market without alternative coins for payments across exchanges? I bet by now its price would've spiralled out of reach. Perhaps those who predicted the price of Bitcoin in the past hitting an exaggerated price level did that thinking Bitcoin wouldn't have many coins spring up to contest its leading position. Beyond all that, options are great you know. Even in politics, we crave options. So, why not in the crypto space.

why do people continue to invest in the penny stocks of the crypto market?
The reason is simple — with little cash one can get so many units of penny stocks. And if price moves as little as 20% the investors are already in great profit.
4690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I kept receiving strange TRC10 tokens in my Trust Wallet, should i be worried? on: January 22, 2021, 11:52:51 AM
Snip>
It's a shame that I don't have access to a old Tron wallet of mine, I used to hold 130,000 TRON coins
Wow! That's a lot of stack in there. You should do all you can to recover that. 130k worth of Tron could be worth more than a Lamborghini in future. It's the same way early adopters lost a great deal of their cheaply purchased Bitcoin. Now a whole lot of them regret not securing or being serious with their wallets' security.

I would not trust such free airdrops, as they can be scammers who use token names similar to the names of popular projects.
What would scammers do if they airdropped tokens to you, nothing. Except you meant hackers. And that can only get you easily if there are malware somewhere in a link they ask you to click. Other than that, airdrops don't make anyone vulnerable.
4691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I kept receiving strange TRC10 tokens in my Trust Wallet, should i be worried? on: January 22, 2021, 08:03:59 AM
Nope, it's not something you should be afraid of. It's just a randomly airdropped worthless tokens. I used to observe the same thing a few years ago with my Waves wallet. Those were airdropped to me from the Waves community for merely hodling the Waves token. I never got around understanding how to redemn those tokens because it was either the tokens didn't exist on any exchange or they were worth nothing. Perhaps, that's the same situation with you now. I don't think it's a hack building up.
4692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biden treasury secretary nominee Yellen says "curtail bitcoin" on: January 21, 2021, 12:17:09 PM
Could that speech be the reason Bitcoin is experiencing a dump lately? I guess so.

Regardless of their position on Bitcoin, they do not have the authority to curtail the network, they could declare it illegal and limit exchanges from accepting transactions from certain regions,
China tried it in 2017 but Bitcoin rose from that initial anxiety and uncertainty and hit its ATH in Dec of that same year. Politicians don't seem to learn that Bitcoin is highly decentralized and that no single government can whittle it down. Even the way Bitcoin has performed during this pandemic should be enough pointer for its adoption by various governments. But that isn't the case yet. Well, I am not surprised, anyway, that governments aren't adopting it because Bitcoin tends to expose the inadequacies of fiat and put out middlemen and their corruption.
4693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reinvest initial investment, or keep profits? on: January 21, 2021, 10:10:09 AM
We invest to make money. The same way we make money to satisfy needs. You're already in profit to an excess $8,000. It's good you have already taken out $5,000. If I were you, I will split that money into 3 and use a quarter of it to give myself a treat. Take yourself out and celebrate that success. Catch a glimpse of life for life has no duplicate. Then plough back the ⅔ into buying credible alts with less market cap. That way you are certain of more profit.

Well, the truth be sey me nor fit stop any persin from posting wetin dem think sey be proverb. But na the original ones wey nor dey common anyhow dey get my attention and na dem I dey like merit. So, you fit throw your original own enter ring like this too.

4695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hidden Gems on: January 21, 2021, 07:28:20 AM
But with the usual reaction of mine whenever somebody says it's a gem for them, it's most likely you have already bought it.
But of course, that's the way investors have been acting. People always put their monies where their mouths are. It's a popular adage in my native land. However, that someone lists a particular token as a gem doesn't necessarily mean that the tokens aren't great. It could simply be that those who mention these tokens are out to get a quick ROI on their investments. For instance, I believe that Cartesi (which I also have a few tokens) is a gem and will do exceedingly well during this bull run. Cartesi isn't just another token. It's a token with use-case and constantly following its roadmap. I wonder why OP didn't mention it too.
4696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are people still buying XRP? on: January 20, 2021, 04:44:10 PM
2) The traders especially those that trade on technical signals think that xrp price is cheap and at longterm support price so for them this is an attractive entry for them.
Perhaps you meant investors, not traders. I don't think traders give a hoot about the longterm. They just buy and exit trades once there's a signal to cash out. This can be done within a day. Those who hold trades longer than a week looking for longterm resistance could be doing so from investors' perspective. Again, I think those who are still buying Ripple are banking on a miracle happening so they could be reaping a great ROI. This may happen or may not happen. It's a risk. Those buying Ripple should know that and be prepared to face the merit or demerit of their decision.

This idea of sim verification by NIN in this kind short amount of time na one of the most stupid things I don see for this country.
You forget sey the usual Naija things — Dem go ever postpone it na. Just wait and see. BTW, the January deadline be for people wey get the NIN already oh. So, anybody wey get the NIN already from registered National ID nor supposed get issues with that except the persin just wan delay. Na the codes be this in case anyone nor know already:

Code:
* To know your NIN number dial (*346#)

1.To link it with MTN dial (*785#)

2. To link with Airtel dial (*121*1#).

3. To link with 9mobile dial (*200*8#)

4 . To link with GL0, Send " UPDATE NIN , NIN NUMBER, first name ,last name " to (109) .
Eg "UPDATE NIN, 12345678901, Jamiu Alabi Oke "  to 109.

If you leave us, we always like 11th hour rush. Shift the time from now to October, people nor go still serious until we enter September. Na owa pattern be that.

4698  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 25th Amendment after Trump supporters riot in the Capital on: January 20, 2021, 07:20:36 AM
And in 2016, they inadvertently elected President Ivanka.  So there.  Stick that in your feminist pipe and smoke it.
Your argument distracts here. I thought we were talking about the number one seat in the US — The US President, and not some subsidiary position. You made it sound like Ivanka is the nickname of Donald Trump.

Because she’s a woman, or because she is another corrupt, uninspiring political jobber?
Of course, because she's a woman and America isn't yet ready for that history to be made for a woman president. BTW, is there any politician who doesn't have a strain of corruption in them?

—By the way, how did you fail to notice that the incoming fraudulently selected Vice President is a woman, whom many people expect will probably replace the frail and demented President due to natural causes?  Oh, apropos this thread’s topic:
Well, expectations aren't reality. This also you should know that people don't die based on age and that man isn't God to determine whose turn is next to die.

In 2016, Trump was widely thought as the only person who could lose to Clinton in the general election.
Honestly, my take home from the Clinton — Trump election was that Americans were not yet ready for a female president despite all their mouthed speeches about democracy. They loved Hilary Clinton but couldn't close her up to win the presidency. They had to choose controversial Trump instead. Even if Clinton had contested again against Trump in 2020, Americans still wouldn't have voted her in.

On invoking the 25th Amendment, I like how succinctly the Vice President of the US put it. I saw that letter online I thought I should share it. It's spot on:
