4681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Project Team and Cryptocurrency AMA on: October 28, 2019, 05:36:01 PM
Quote
Simply put, Cryptocurrency AMA means Ask Me Anything related to cryptocurrency..
So when it comes to the AMA section for a project, it simply means you can ask the team of the project anything related to that project and you can sometimes digress a little to ask on general cryptocurrency questions just to truly test the knowledge of the team, if they understand why they have decided to bring blockchain technology on their project.

This is interesting way to know if developers and their projects are scams or not. I remember back in 2017 or 2018 I asked a cryptocurrency "developers" few technical questions concerning his/her project, his answer was quite disappointing and I stopped visiting the project telegram group due to this.

Quote
AMA should be an interesting and interactive section which is very much anticipated for, both by the team of the project and the crypto community, which could be in form of live video chat on social media, such as Fecebook, Wechat and the likes. It could also be in form of live text chats, such as that done on telegram.

I don't think the video chat is necessary... except maybe for developers who are OK with revealing their identities.
4682  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie Trading Question? on: October 28, 2019, 03:58:24 PM
Well, you can be a holder(long-term holder) and still be a regular trader. The best way to go about this is by having two seperate addresses, one for holding Bitcoin long-term and the second for regular trading. The regular trading involves buying when the market is down and selling when it is up... it's as simple as that. You could buy low and sell high on daily, weekly or monthly basis. Focus on what works for you.
4683  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Buyers Club on: October 28, 2019, 01:18:41 PM
I've been tossing around the idea of starting a group of people who are committed to buying Bitcoin every month. Can be a small portion, like 5$, or however much people can afford (I suppose it would make sense to use higher amounts for fee reasons, though). I myself have set up a monthly wire transfer from my bank account to Coinbase and a recurring purchase of Bitcoin every 1st day of the month. This is really simple, and you keep investing and $-cost-averaging your BTC purchases.

Who's in?

Good idea. I wouldn't mind buying regularly though. By regularly I mean buying when Bitcoin is down and selling some/all (if you want to) when it's up.
I believe this can be done automatically now as I have seen few members promoting services like that here
4684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it Possible To Mine Bitcoin with Supercomputer? on: October 28, 2019, 12:49:45 PM
These Russians were jailed for attempting to mine bitcoin at a nuclear facility. Would they really have gotten coins mining with a supercomputer? https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/russian-nuclear-engineer-jailed-for-mining-bitcoin-at-work/

If you could mine with powerful computer and free energy like that from nuclear power, why not. Anyone mining Bitcoin with good computers and free electricity will certainly make profit. Afterall electricity is a major factor miners consider before starting mining business.
I guess you'll have to keep the computer running quietly for days to make meaningful progress.

4685  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Function X - The first fully blockchain-powered phone (Blok on Blok) on: October 28, 2019, 10:48:10 AM
This sounds great.
I even missed "prototype" and almost asked how much the phone is worth. It sounds really interesting.
I wonder how quick users will be able to switch between Android and Blockchain mode. I think this should be taken into consideration to make it easy to use and probably have many people using it.

Bookmarked this thread.
4686  Economy / Economics / Re: I'll Contend: There's Absolutely Nothing Shady, Corrupt or Criminal About Tether on: October 28, 2019, 09:19:31 AM
I agree with BitHodler, without transparency Tether is actually in the opinion of many a very suspicious project. If they first say that every Tether is backed with $1, then that this is not true entirely, but that it is backed by some other assets for which they do not want to reveal what it is. So if I have $100 at least I know I have them in my pocket, but with 100 Tether on some exchange, I only have promise that those tokens worth $100.

What if at some point the authorities prove that Tether is mostly printed with no real coverage in dollars? While I do not question the usefulness of a project like this, there are still too many possibilities for manipulation that justifiably cast a shadow over the whole project.

I guess they are worried the funds will be siezed.
Governments need to be alittle accommodating to things like this otherwise companies like tether will begin to move to alternatives.
I honestly wish most stablecoins have their reserve in fiat currencies for the sake of those currencies.  The relationship between cryptocoins and fiats should be mutual, in my opinion. That's probably what the stablecoins companies like tether want, unfortunately the hardness of governments is making similar companies consider the alternatives.
4687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Inviting Do Away With The Investment Part First on: October 28, 2019, 08:24:27 AM
If you are going to successfully invite people to look at Cryptocurrency, you should Do Away With The Investment Part First
the first thing is to explain how it was created and the creator's idea, why it was created and what are the benefits
if you make the investment part first chances are people will look at it as a Ponzi Scheme and they will shun it.

I totally agree.
Education first before investment. The education should be made simple as possible, as well as fun.
Teach them the importance of Bitcoin, how to use it safely, as well as the advantages and few disadvantages. Some wonderful promoters tend to ignore this sometimes. I don't blame them though, they probably don't remember due to stress and hardwork. They do their best while we reap from their hardwork.
4688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will China start Altcoin Season on: October 28, 2019, 07:21:15 AM
Could you please mention the "search engine"? Would like to see my self.
Who owns the TronWeekly website by the way? Tron or just a fan?
Well, you need to be sure the article is even true. I have seen similar articles about China that end up not true.

It this is true, it is probably about fintech "Blockchain" projects.
4689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Blocknet Price Prediction 2019/2020 - The King Of DEX's. on: October 27, 2019, 03:16:24 PM
Blocknet.co is one of the exchanges I am really interested in. Will likely check it out soon.

Wish you could find time to review and compare both Stakenet and blocknet. Are both related or owned by thesame group/developers? From the little information I have gathered so far about the exchanges it seems they have similar features

4691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MDAB did over 12,000% Even with seemingly inactive Team. on: October 27, 2019, 11:31:32 AM
I don't know much about the project...so I can't tell whether it's a quality projects or not.
People who accept any coin, no matter the quality , are part of the cause of the price increase ...it is simply based on demand and supply. Even though I believe that substandard projects experience short-term increase , the increases are hardly sustainable because they're artificial. People should probably stop accepting projects that are not worth it.
4692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: October 25, 2019, 03:43:12 PM
Don't you think that single individual could run multiple idena nodes in order to cheat or something? This is a potential problem... you think it doesn't matter or has it been solve?

Will download the node later and see how the whole thing works. I already bookmarked your site.
This looks very interesting.

Individual must validate themself in order to mine coins.

The uniqueness of participants is proven by the fact that they must solve and provide the answers for flip-puzzles synchronously. A single person is not able to validate herself multiple times because of the very limited timeframe for the submission of the answers.

https://idena.io/?view=faq#faq-pop-1

Thanks for the link. This particular one makes the whole cheating with multiple accounts question clear:
Quote
Would Mechanical Turk obliterate the validation?
If this becomes valuable, I imagine that a user will find it profitable to hire multiple people to solve captcha.

It is also possible that thousands/millions of sophisticated AI will be used to solve captcha?
4693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Browser Crypto Rewards Program on: October 25, 2019, 01:51:09 PM
Nice!
really like the idea of rewarding people for viewing ads. I am stuck with one of my favorite browsers unfortunately
I can't use other browsers for too long. Wish it was possible to sync my browsers data across different browsers, that will definitely make me to start using brave browser more.
I like lite browers, by the way... Browsers that are lite on my mobile devices. I normally open to many applications at thesame time for multitasking. This makes the whole thing slow for me me unfortunately. I can't do without having multiple apps opened at thesame time.
4694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Satoshi... on: October 25, 2019, 12:38:33 PM
Well, I think he was very busy back then with bitcoin and probably was under pressure to make things work.
Looks like he was very convinced about his idea. Not necessarily due to arrogance as some may have thought.
4695  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where can I buy digital currency better when I only have $10,000 on: October 25, 2019, 09:47:22 AM
https://thesuncoin.io/
http://www.suncoin.biz
Are those suncoin website? If yes, I will advise you to avoid them. The first website is currently not available while the second one has probably expired. . Avoid the mobile/pc wallet too if it has any.
The coins coinmarketcap data says "no data" https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/suncoin/

If you want to buy cryptocurrencies, use the established peer-to-peer exchanges. There are lot of them today.
4696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If you're a huge fan of BTC and LTC, You might want to take a look at Stakenet. on: October 25, 2019, 08:13:17 AM
Stakenet is really an interesting project. Will definitely check it out.
I  like that you can stake xsn and receive Bitcoin as reward.

How about the USDT moving to lightening network? Has it move yet? Been long I read stuff about USDT. I guess Stakenet should consider adding few more stablecoins just incase something happens to one.

Can applications be built on top Stakenet?

4698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Fully Decentralized World is Possible? on: October 25, 2019, 05:58:47 AM
Can we truly have a fully decentralized system? For example, we control our own money, properties, internet etc. If we can, how can we achieve this and what obstacles can we face? I want to control my money and I don't want my government to control what I see on the internet. There are ways of overcoming some of these but the whole internet is coming from the ISPs. We may have a satellite(Elon Musk) for internet which makes the decentralization easier for us.
A fully decentralized world cannot exist for a long time. Humanity in its development has gone through this more than once. Therefore, there is a saying that one who does not want to feed his army will be forced to feed someone else's. Decentralization in public life means complete anarchy. How then can you control your property, your money, if any group of armed people can enter your house and take away any property, including your cryptocurrency computer? Are you going to hire your own private army for this?
The government, the army, the police are still necessary, as are certain rules of conduct in society.

Stealing things from people who live in decentralized world will be made difficult.
There will be stuff like alarms, Cameras will be watching, there will be very tough defenses, and quick means of escape (known to only the citizens) . Things will be reordered frequently to make detecting this security secrets very difficult.
Besides, having too much physical properties will be discouraged amongst the citizens. The properties should be easy to move around and easy to decoupled..
Much of our wealth will be in decentralized world, so that they can't be easily stolen. Decentralized Insurances will also help incase of theft or accidents
4699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MiNing Copper Instead Of Bitcoin = More Cash Flow on: October 25, 2019, 05:34:02 AM
Would love to be part of this. But I do not really like the idea of selling to the governments. Governments could stop buying them whey they run out of money or change their minds. Would be great to sell directly to people who need them.

I have even thought about having a small recycling plant to recycle things like that especially plastic, metals/copper then sell to people for crypto-token that is made specifically for waste recycling... I pay for their scraps with the Crypto-token and people will basically acquire the crypto-token to buy the finished products I sell.

I have seen lots of people picking varieties of metals from people's bin and refuse dumps. I guess they are paid to do this or they sell to companies/individuals?
4700  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anonymous Peer 2 Peer trading platform on: October 24, 2019, 01:22:48 PM
I saw this exchange yesterday but I wasn't sure if it was a genuine.
Is it available in all countries? I think I like that you can trade peer-to-peer on the exchange without needing to chat with buyers or sellers. The chatting thing can be time wasting sometimes, though it's necessary.
Is it a decentralized exchange? Is available mobile app? You should try to make the site usable on light browsers.
