he punk'd the community and held up a mirror so they can see how foolish they look. Pretty smart PR work.

Incidentally, what did you mean by looking foolish? Did you consider the community saying that BTCS&T and other similar HYIPs are either ponzis, scams, or dangerously stupid "investments" to be foolish?

Still five pages out. Maybe if I didn't stop to read the links or view the videos, I would be through this thread by now.

We're rooting for you Phinn! You can do it!!!

I'd rather Phinn does his own rooting. I'm not sure what his taste in sexual partner is like.

Whatever it is, I'm sure it's barn related in some way.

How plausible would it be to convert a Raspberry Pi or something like an Adruino into a wallet? Keeping this open source in a way that allows anyone to make their own cheap wallet from (somewhat) easily obtained parts would work, too.
4704  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: September 10, 2012, 03:26:39 AM
You can't force someone to sell something they own (equity). Not unless it's done at gun point, anyway.
4705  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MATTHEW FIRED FROM BITCOIN MAGAZINE on: September 10, 2012, 03:23:11 AM
Sorry, your "obvious sarcasm" sounded like "egotistical trolling by someone who didn't even read what the initial bet post was about."
Good luck in your Magazine investments. Did you know only 21million copies will ever be produced?

Oh, and Bitcoin Magazine? I ordered copies of the first three issues 6 weeks ago. Bought and paid for with PayPal. Where the fuck are they?

You ordered Bitcoin magazines 6 weeks ago, from some internet company that really doesn't have any established reputation, and have yet to receive them?
Oh Boohoo! How terrible for you! I am SOOOOO sorry for your absolute pathetic lemming-like devotion to believing pure bullshit that has become the hallmark of bitcoin. Perhaps your ego that you are so eager to slather your posts with will assist in expediting your delivery  Roll Eyes

A wallet you carry in your pants may get crushed if kept in back pocket.  But mainly, you'd have to come up with something that can compete with phones. Specifically Android. Your options are compete on price (sub $100 devices for those who can't afford a smartphone), or compete on features (something very secure specifically for Bitcoin, or what I think would be a killer feature, whisper net or mesh network).

Good luck!
4709  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MATTHEW FIRED FROM BITCOIN MAGAZINE on: September 10, 2012, 02:31:45 AM
And I'm ordering three more issues.

Fuck me! I'm still 200 posts out and now I have to change my soap brand, for if I were to pick up a bar of Dove, an image of Matthew's ass will always come to mind. Don't believe me? For those of you who do use Dove, try not to think of Matthew's ass the next time you're lathering up your crown jewels.

Oh fuck damnit! Now I have to throw away all my Dove bars too!  Angry

I'm still agonizing over which is funnier... watching the entire spreadsheet worth of bettors get pantsed in public, or the outcry over it.

Sorry, but the list of betters was public almost from the beginning. Matt's post didn't change anything, since everyone was able to see who bet what from the few Google Docs links provided earlier.

How did you manage to interpret 'get pantsed in public' into, 'get made public'?

English Mutha Fugga, do you read it?

Thought he was referring to Matt's post where he listed all the bettors and how much they bet on the forum. Guess I was wrong.

FYI, Russian is my first language. Then Ukrainian. Then English. (Then a few others). My language skills are also inversely proportional to how late I stayed up the night before, reading Matthew's bet threads XD

Hah,  yes fair enough Smiley   Still,  doesn't stop some trying to use vagueness to get out of these things.

But yeah,  Escrow should be mandatory for these things regardless.

I'll shoot the 5BTC to that address shortly,  I'm at work and need to remote into my bitcoin machine.   Don't panic if it's not there in the next few hours Wink

As I said, I'm not holding you to the bet. Honestly I just wanted you do stop shilling for someone who STILL has yet to pay anyone back. If you decide to donate, great. If you don't, I won't even mention it.
4713  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are people over-reacting on MNW's bet? on: September 09, 2012, 11:12:13 PM
Sorry, I should've said "initially." At first his whole point was that people screaming Ponzi should shut up or back their claims with money. If that was all who bet, this probably would've turned out OK. But it all went tragic as soon as he allowed others to hedge their losses.
Even before that, it encouraged some people not to sell their Pirate debt at a reduced loss because they believed that Matthew knew something they didn't.

^^^ True

Though in answer to those here saying "you are fools for taking Matthew's bet, and he was just proving how gullible you are" I'm just pointing out that initially it was the not-gullible Team Ponzi that his bet was targeted at, and was supposedly the point of. I'm not sure anyone from the Team Ponzi actually lost anything on this bet (I sure as hell didn't).
4714  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are people over-reacting on MNW's bet? on: September 09, 2012, 11:09:00 PM
I can't believe how many people don't get what he did. Pirateat40's pyramid scheme was a scam to begin with. Whe it defaulted (let me show you my shocked face), Matthew tried to show you how easy it is to fool you suckers without actually taking any of your money, and yet you still don't get it. Hey scammers! There are still plenty of fish in here!

I think Matthew cares about the scammers tag as much as anyone cares that HE HAS PUT BITCOIN MAGAZINE IN BOOKSTORES!

But he wasn't targeting people who were fooled by Pitareat40's scam, he was "fooling" people who were warning other fools about risky investment schemes.

Yes he did.  He specifically mentioned his bet as a way to hedge for Pirate investors.

And by "fooling" I mean telling people to put up money on an almost certain bet without actually risking any of it. If his intention was to show how easy it is to fool people, he failed. I doubt anyone who was calling Pirate a Ponzi would have actually bet anything if there was any actual risk involved.

Also, don't forget, the "buffoons" were the ones who were saying that Pirate and other similar investments, or as you called it "the next great scheme," were scammy bullshit. I.e. their whole point was exactly what you claim they should be laughed at - that people believing these scammers are "buffoons." Matthew, in attempting to defend these "next great scheme" scammers, said put your money where your mouth is, so they said fuck you and did so. They didn't actually put any money on the line (no escrow), and the only thing they ended up proving is that they were right, and that Matthew was a troll.

Even though I've won my 5BTC bet due to Pirate/Matthew's default, I'm withdrawing my bet anyway. Rolo got screwed well enough as it is.

Ah Rassah,  I totally forgot about that.   I agreed to pay up if I lost,  so I still will if you want to post an address.
Ooh, send it to the Bitcoin 100!

Huh, that could work. If you wish, send funds to 1BTC1oo1J3MEt5SFj74ZBcF2Mk97Aah4ac, along with a transaction #, and we'll add you to the list of donors  Grin

I dunno, Matthew's been spending a lot of time trying to hunt down Atlas alts and get them banned. There'd be a certain irony in him being on the other end of that for much the same reason as Atlas.

Did Atlas ever try to scam people out of 10k's of Bitcoin? I don't follow his posts, so really don't know.

BTW, I'm also relieved to know that Matthew doesn't even have $200,000 USD to his name, let alone $800,000.
