4701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought this stuff with Bitcoin, great way for people to become aware of Bitcoin on: January 23, 2020, 03:13:43 AM
I would disagree with your statement because to hear about BTC and to know something specific about it is a big difference. If there is any truth in research that shows that less than 1% of the world's population owns/trades with crypto, we are still far from saying that most are familiar what is actually BTC.
Maybe it's quite different from what I intended to say, but most of the people are quite skeptical about what BTC can do, and just hearing about them with negative comments are having an impact. I do know that some of the people are not yet utilizing it, and we are just only a few in the world, right?

I personally bought a lot of things with BTC (TVs, smartphones, various gadgets), but I don't think it helped others to become aware of BTC.
It's weird to actually influence people with Bitcoin to buy stuff but not telling them how you obtained it in the first place unless you bought it early. Maybe at the point where you bought a lot of BTC as you said in the earlier time, it would amaze them, but now it's a risk to do. I have shared some things with other people that my gadgets were paid using BTC, and they are skeptical. That's just the reality we are in now.

4703  Economy / Speculation / Re: Monday Is the Best Day to Buy Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2020, 11:19:30 AM
The thought about having a day just for buying Bitcoin is quite outrageous, knowing that it is a coincidence. Maybe people have a good time at the start of the week (depending on the place that you are) You could check this website for reference on how it differs in the start of the week in different countries.  [1]. The majority is still Monday, and somehow, it could explain how much it could have an effect on the chart given, knowing that Bitcoin is global.

Maybe there could be a saying where

Start buying Bitcoin at the start of the week, don't ask, buy

Probably along those lines. We could see the trend as well on the second graph.
  • Buy at the start of the week
  • Never in the middle of the week

Thanks for the information as well.

4704  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is https://blockexplorer.com/ down? on: January 20, 2020, 03:54:25 PM
It's probably connected with the website, it couldn't sync, just like in the screenshot you gave. I thought maybe something is wrong with the internet but I'm in a different country with good internet, so probably it's not anywhere with the connection. Maybe just like mocacinno said, just try the things on his list.

Is there something specific about why you want blockexplorer.com? Maybe the listed sites above are okay unless there's another functionality that other explorers should have?

4706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bought this stuff with Bitcoin, great way for people to become aware of Bitcoin on: January 18, 2020, 12:36:51 PM
Today, you won't have any impact because almost everyone knows Bitcoin already. Their interest may have been already answered, and if they want to use it, they would be utilizing it or maybe supporting it. Maybe stories about how irrational your decision can be when you used Bitcoin now instead of in the future, thinking that it could increase in price in the future.

Can you have the capacity to determine how many people already have been aware of and been using it? It's possible through a survey, but you can't have solid data about it.
4707  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin to Precious Metals Companies on: January 17, 2020, 04:27:56 PM
Is this something related to how money works previously? When Fiat is backed by gold in a safe, and it should be 1:1 or something like that of value?

I searched this on the web and found PAXG. Paxos Gold and it's said that it's backed by gold. [1]

Basically, for me, this would be the case. You are going in for another middleman who is currently holding the actual gold, and you deposit the BTC. I'm not sure how they would account for the fluctuating price of BTC. But since it's a token, it's not directly correlating to the price of BTC. Like an ounce of that would amount to a certain PAXG amount.

With that, I don't like the idea that my BTC would be converted to another currency.

4708  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain Usage In Mainstream Examples on: January 16, 2020, 03:31:22 PM
Most blockchain applications that I remember are the usage of it in Casinos, Science and Technology, supply chains, and many more. They are the focus of some industries, and they are coming into life by the people researching them. I admire people who put this kind of technology first, and they may bear fruit in the long run.

I found a fascinating article that i think you could refer to your interest, OP. It’s mostly to exchange of knowledge using a network called Open Science, and with that, anyone could contribute, etc. It would be beneficial for all when this happens.

4709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No one ever sells, nor buys anything in BitCoin.. Think this is wrong, read on! on: January 16, 2020, 12:48:25 PM
Are you just explaining how you could buy Stuff and not think about the current price that it has? I think we all have to understand that the value of bitcoin is what ”we” give it. It's just like fiat, it's paper but with the amount, because we intend to give its value.

I think this is one of the advantages of Bitcoin, where the price would fluctuate, and you would take that into an advantage to profit from. It's all in the strategy.

If you are accepting/selling Bitcoin, then you are Buying and using Bitcoin. Don't put too much thought on it.
4710  Economy / Economics / Re: Demand for computing power on: January 16, 2020, 05:59:34 AM
The demand for computing power has boggled my mind as well, knowing that the difficulty is always increasing. So would it be feasible if miners have a change of heart and dedicate their hash rate to another cryptocurrency? I think that the miners have that capacity to change the leading cryptocurrency, but we would see it.

Just like what Hydrogen said, Moores law is something to see about. Maybe there's a study where the increasing performance of GPUs and CPUs alleviates the increase of difficulty of mining? Perhaps someone could point it out.
4711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 15, 2020, 04:22:01 PM
You are not doing a great start, my friend, posting on the Gambling discussion? It's filled with gambling temptations here and not just the signatures but the topics as well. It might give you the urge, though. If you are serious about stopping your bad habit, you should focus on other activities. Maybe try some Art making or something recreational for you.

It's always up to the person to change themselves. It's hard to do, but it's worth it in the end. As long as you don't just say the words and do it, and you will be fine.
4712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do scam ICOs really taken to the court? on: January 15, 2020, 09:04:19 AM
Some cases have been to court and about cryptocurrencies as well. The most recent one I found is about Telegram with its ICO.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/court-denies-sec-request-to-make-telegram-reveal-ico-bank-records

It's about the SEC requesting the bank records of Telegram for regulatory purposes and making sure that Telegram has abided to the data privacy laws, both foreign and local privacy laws.

As long as the ICO is a fraud, I think it is being taken into court, especially if there are a lot of affected people.

In the last link below, there's a table where SEC-Crypto cases are listed. Maybe you guys would find it interesting too.

Some researched links with ICO and court:

4713  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Can Gain 100% In 2020 - Halving Not Priced In, Says Fundstrat on: January 15, 2020, 07:13:32 AM
Now that you think about it, wealthy people are trying to accumulate more to maximize more profits. I think once that significant event, which is the halving, happens, it would be fuel to skyrocket the price again to new highs (hopefully). There is just too much news to determine if this is the real intentions of the news provider and those fake news that circulate to have a fall in price. That's the reality that we have now, a little story about cryptocurrency could determine if it's going to be an uptrend or downtrend.

  • Positive News = Price Increase
  • Negative News = Price Decrease

It could be just coincidences, but once the word gets out, some people are panicking, and they want to liquidate their assets immediately. News is fast btw whether fake or fact.

Now that we are in a positive zone, we may see to continue to an increase in BTC. More bulls!
4714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2020 betting on: January 15, 2020, 03:48:01 AM
I'm not the kind of person to watch the entire Oscar Awards, but it's interesting to see. I watch it with the highlights only. Anyways, it's going to be hard to predict because it would also depend on the person accepting the award or not. An addition about Oscar Awards, I do believe that it's nothing but a title but no actual contribution to anything. Maybe for the actor's salary but nothing more. There is no diversity and no equal opportunities for others. Their criteria for judging are quite different compared to the actual results that can be obtained from the Box Office results. I'm not an expert, but it still seems to be the case.

With all that I said above, it's a rant that I want to share, maybe some of you also noticed it. Let's make money on it by gambling, lol.  Below would be my picks:

Best Picture: 1917
Best Director: Bong Joon Ho (Parasite)
Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix (Joker)
Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood)
Best Actress: Renee Zellweger (Judy)
Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern (Marriage Story)

P.S. These are guesses with little analysis, it's not recommended to follow my picks.
4715  Economy / Services / Re: Bitsler Signature & Avatar Campaign (Closing Friday) on: January 15, 2020, 02:11:32 AM
It's really saddening, I may not have been part of it for a long time but I'm thankful for being a part of it. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the Bitsler campaign, thank you Baryom and yahoo62278. Just like the news said in the Telegram channel and their blog - "All good things eventually come to an end...". Good luck in your future endeavors Bitsler Team. Thank you again.

But what is the reason for the termination of the campaign?
If you have checked their blog - https://blog.bitsler.com/post/3-years-bitcointalk-signature-campaign-ending-next-week-52

4716  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X vs. Nano S on: January 15, 2020, 12:42:25 AM
If you are planning to bring it everywhere you go, Nano X does a great job with it. Imagine having to be able to transact without any need for cords and stuff. You need your smartphone installed with Ledger Live, and you are good to go. You can manage any cryptocurrency right on your phone. The battery life is good as well. It could last a month, depending on your usage as well.

Overall, I would get the Nano X because of the convenience of it. If you are going to get a hardware wallet, why not get the best one out there?
4717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why We Need Bitcoin, If Altcoins Transfers Are Faster And Cheaper on: January 14, 2020, 07:17:14 AM
Just like what others said, it's the confirmation power of Bitcoin making the transactions irreversible, and the network itself is strong compared to others. As to the power of Bitcoin with the acceptance of different people, let's compare it 1:1 with USD.

USD is almost universal, and all currency exchanges accept USD to trade with another one. It may not be the direct fiat conversion on a particular country, but it's taken in the exchanges, as I mentioned. Wherever you go, it's allowed.

If we analyze Bitcoin to USD, Bitcoin is the USD of the Cryptocurrency space. Any cryptocurrency would be able to be traded with Bitcoin, and some are dependent on the price of Bitcoin, and it changes with the flow of Bitcoin. That's just how powerful Bitcoin is,, and that's the reality we are in now.

There's no appearance of any cryptocurrency that would replace Bitcoin because it's the start of all cryptocurrencies. It's the USD part of cryptocurrency space. I hope it made sense.
4718  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [AUCTION] Christmas Discount! Nexus - Bitcoin Design Bicycle Playing Cards on: January 14, 2020, 04:42:17 AM
Haha.

Anyways, I will be locking this thread now.
4719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: January 14, 2020, 01:04:08 AM
I do think everyone knows that there's a minuscule chance that you could win the jackpot in gambling. There's nothing you could say or do that could change that because casino owners want profit, and they would want people to be investing in their business, right? Anyways, there's no good reason why you should gamble. It's not going to be answered honestly, too (if they were addicts.) I love gambling when there's a challenge that you could do and have the opportunity to capitalize on it, but there should always be the limit you are willing to take.

I'm just curious as to why this topic has been created because I'm not questioning why I play games though. Maybe the root cause of addiction? Perhaps you know someone who experienced this type?
4720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling cashback services? on: January 13, 2020, 04:03:43 PM
In general, I think there's a possible near reference that is being done concerning how much you are gambling. Some sites Offer Rakeback and a wagering contest or something. The most recent that I had is with CyberDice and in Bitsler.

I haven't unlocked the rake back feature in my account in Bitsler. You need to have a large amount of wagered amount IIRC. For CyberDice, you have to be the highest in a day, and you are given a certain percentage, 0.9% IIRC.

Maybe you could create a site where when you deposit, there's a bonus in which you could have an extra amount. I know that there are sites that give deposit bonuses.
