4701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 start of a fresh market for crypto. on: March 03, 2020, 01:41:51 PM
We had a great start to 2020, when the prices went up by quite a bit in January. But February was extremely disappointing, with many of the coins losing 10% to 20% of the value. I am even more disappointed, because the block reward halving event is just a few months away. If the market is showing no bounce in the coming weeks, then we'll be in big trouble.
4702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 03, 2020, 01:34:47 PM
More bad news coming out from Noida. Schools will now remain shut till March 9th. March 10th is an official holiday in india, so basically till 10 th of March school will be shut. I fear South African board might cancel the tournament and this situation can also affect IPL.

Very ugly situation in the making.

From what I have heard, only two people have tested positive in India this week. Two of the schools have closed, since the child of one of the positive cases used to study there. That said, my friends in Delhi are saying that there is no sign of a lock down and the public transport is operating as usual. If things get out of hand, then the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament might get postponed (semi-final matches are ongoing now).
4703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shit bounties are getting attention and hype! Stop doing these bounties! on: March 03, 2020, 01:26:55 PM
Would it not be more constructive to come up with a list of the best bounty campaigns, rather than this rant.

What in your opinion is the BEST bounty campaigns right now?

 Wink Wink

Anyone can come up with a list of various campaigns, which they claim to be safe. But despite this, there is going to be no guarantee that the campaign is going to pay. If you want to get paid, then join a campaign where the funds are being kept in third party escrow. But you will find very few such campaigns here. On top of that, make sure that the soft cap is not too high.
4704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 03, 2020, 01:20:38 PM
I am glad that at least some of the Indian players have signed up for the county championship in England. But I don't understand why they are ignoring the domestic championships in other countries. The Australian 4-day championship (Sheffied Shield Trophy) is having a higher standard compared to the county championship, but I haven't seen any Indians playing there. The Plunkett Shied championship in New Zealand is also another interesting option. But I don't know whether the BCCI will give permission to the players, as they don't want the foreign boards to earn additional TV revenue by using Indian players.
4705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 02, 2020, 04:30:41 PM
Looking at the score, it's tough to say which score belongs to which order batsmen. Earlier we had Dhoni who used to come at 6 and save the game many times but we don't see the same spirit now. I really don't know if the conditions are to be blamed or the players. All the players being unable to perform is something absurd. I had hopes from Jadeja, Pant and even Vihari as Vihari just managed to get 100 runs earlier in the warm-up matches so what went wrong then?

They even tried new batsmen and bowlers but all failed. It's as if I am watching a newbie team playing their first game.

You can't really compare warm-up matches with the actual test match series. Scoring a 100 against some second-string bowling side is one thing, and doing the same against a world class attack consisting of Trent Boult, Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson is another. India could have played a few more warm-up matches against the domestic sides, but they were too overconfident to do that.
4706  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 71.2%, alts lagging behind on: March 02, 2020, 04:20:24 PM
bitcoin dominance is now reduced and is at 63%, yep that's very good, this indicates that altcoin season is coming soon, it's not wrong to buy the top 10 coins now, hopefully altcoin season will soon make a new history again

It is not reduced. It was 62% few days ago and now grew to 65%.   Bitcoin dominance is growing again. I suspect this to keep going until price of Bitcoin will not start growing again.

We are in a state of flux. The last time I checked, the Bitcoin dominance was 63.8% and it is hovering between 62% and 65%. The altcoins have managed a major comeback, after getting pushed in to a corner as a result of the rising Bitcoin market share. Many of the top altcoins have gained as much as 30% during the last few months. However, a plateauing has occurred and I don't expect a further rise very soon.
4707  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Thailand Taxi Service Accept Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency payments. on: March 02, 2020, 04:14:18 PM
Here in India, we don't have any service providers accepting Bitcoin, because the government has banned the usage of BTC in making payments. So we are currently making use of some of the loopholes. Users like me are first converting our Bitcoins to Uber gift cards and then using these gift cards to make payments. Very smooth process, although the mark-up is a bit high.
4708  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-12-15] Bitcoin Prices in Venezuela Near $9,500 as BTC Demand Intensifies on: March 02, 2020, 04:08:07 PM
There is so much demand because ordinary Venezuelans want to keep their wealth secure. Ironically, they are forced to use a volatile asset such as Bitcoin as the store of value, as other popular options such as gold, United States Dollar.etc are in short supply. That said, I hope that they won't face any problem in the future, when they want to cash out their coin holdings.
4709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Other Coins Halves too on: March 02, 2020, 04:02:16 PM
For those asking if Bitcoin is the only coin that with halving capability the answer is no, many coins have this feature as well

1. On August 5 2019 LTC completed it's second halving
2. On January 4 2020 BEAM completed it's first halving
3. Both BSV and BCH halving will take place in April 2020
4. Zcash halving will happen around November- December 2020
5. BCD (Bitcoin Diamond) halving will take place on 29 July 2020

The list goes on and on, some are even holding few altcoins that will halve later on but they don't know it, DYOR

Out of all these coins listed, I don't think that there is any interest in the cryptocurrency market for coins apart from LTC, BCH and BSV. BEAM, BCD.etc have very few users and they are outside the top-20 list. Litecoin had its halving last year, and the prices crashed immediately after that event. A recovery is yet to occur for Litecoin. I don't know what will happen with BCH and BSV. But I am a bit optimistic, at least for BCH.
4710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can porn sites make bitcoin more popular or will it brings negative effects? on: March 02, 2020, 03:56:31 PM
Normal porn is legal in most of the countries (although I am living in a country where it is banned). And we all know that Bitcoin is a decentralized asset. Therefore no one has the right to limit the usage of Bitcoin by any third party. If there is an attempt in that regard, then Bitcoin will no longer be considered as decentralized. And I don't think that too many people will be having an issue with that, apart from a handful of religious nuts.
4711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ain't helping on: March 02, 2020, 03:49:45 PM
How Coronavirus is supposed to help? The stock markets have crashed and lost anywhere between 10% and 15% depending on the country. And the trend indicates that the market may crash further in the coming days. Even gold and real estate prices are crashing. At this point, how can you say that Bitcoin is going to be immune from all this and will increase in value?
4712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 02, 2020, 03:43:10 PM
^^^^ I heard that the BCCI have plans to organize a few women's matches during the interval between two IPL matches in a single-day. They tried this last year also, but the crowd reaction was not very positive. Sadly, the Indian women's doesn't have any stars among them, unlike the case with other sports where they have players such as PV Sindhu and Sania Mirza.
4713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Ripple not dead? on: March 02, 2020, 03:36:47 PM
No matter how ridiculous a project is if you have enough money you can keep the project alive, this is what's happening in Ripple's case, but I fear it won't last for long

It not only that, XRP is not as bad as what people are thinking about it.  It may have slumped in weeks or months but that is how the market flows. XRP has one of the fastest and cheapest transactions in blockchain and I still think that there are still a lot of develoments coming in the future.

Agree with both the aspects (transaction speed/cost and development). But still I am one of the most vocal detractors of XRP here in Bitcointalk. My opposition to XRP has nothing to do with the technology or the cost. The reason I hate XRP is because it is just the opposite of the original cryptocurrency which was invented by Satoshi. He had invented Bitcoin, which is decentralized and well-distributed. On the other hand Ripple is centralized and most of the supply is owned by a handful of individuals.
4714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 02, 2020, 03:24:19 PM
Match between Zim vs Bang, Bangladesh won by a record margin of 169 runs. Chasing 322 runs , Zim batsman could not do much and got all out for 152 runs in 39.1 overs. Madhevere was highest scorer from the team making 35 runs.  LITON Das was named Player of the match for unbeaten 126 runs which helped Bangladesh to post such huge score and put pressure back on Zimbabwe batsman.

ICC needs to open its eyes. Every year, close to 12 million USD is send to the Zimbabwe Cricket Board by the ICC. And most of this amount get stolen and the quality of cricket in Zimbabwe continues to decline. At the same time, promising sides such as Nepal and Malaysia are struggling due to the lack of funds. My advice is to suspend Zimbabwe for an infinite period of time, and distribute the funds among the associate nations.
4715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest my $1.5K? on: March 02, 2020, 03:18:59 PM
Personally, I believe that investing at the moment is the most relevant means for making a profit. And now when the crypto industry is developing at a rapid pace. There is an opportunity to invest in a promising Ethereum coin and this will be the most correct option for making good profits.

If you are ready to take the risk, then no one is going to stop you. But then, I would give a few tips based on what I have learnt during the last three years in cryptocurrency market. I normally invest at least 80% of my funds in established coins. Only 20% of the funds will go to coins that are outside the top-10. Also, while investing in the smaller coins, you need to make your moves very fast. If the coin is not showing much promise, then you need to get rid of it and book losses.
4716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: March 02, 2020, 03:12:13 PM
Group stage is over in the Group A in ICC Women's T20 World Cup, while two matches remain in Group B. India and Australia have qualified from Group A, while England and South Africa have qualified from Group B. Some confusion still remain about the semi-final matches. If South Africa win the last match, then their opponents will be Australia. If that doesn't happen, then they will face India in the semis.
4717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shit bounties are getting attention and hype! Stop doing these bounties! on: March 02, 2020, 03:06:15 PM
One thing that I don't understand is why users continue to enroll to these "shit" bounties. No matter how scammy a project may seem, they never fail to get bounty hunters to participate in the bounty campaigns. First of all, the bounty hunters need to have some self-respect, and they need to grow a backbone and boycott the scammy campaigns.
4718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: March 02, 2020, 03:00:11 PM
Peshawar Zalmi seems to be in trouble against the Karachi Kings. After 10 overs, they are 61/4. Apart from Shoaib Malik, none of their batsmen could perform. At one point, they were struggling at 10/3, due to some raw pace from Mohammad Amir and Aamer Yamin. The partnership between Malik and Liam Livingstone added valuable runs, but Umer Khan got Livingstone out.
4719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reason behind ALTCOINS not bouncing Back on: March 02, 2020, 02:54:13 PM
During the last decade, more than 10,000 different cryptocurrencies had been created. But how many of them are undergoing continuous development now? In the vast majority of the cases, the promoters and developers have exited the coin, after pocketing whatever they could gather from the market. Under such scenario, it is not surprising that the prices are going down.
4720  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 02, 2020, 02:27:38 PM
Knew that India would lose but atleast expected 150 runs but they did not even put up a good fight. NZ on the other hand played brilliantly whether it's batting or bowling. Vihari and Pant did not even last for 2-3 overs today and Jadeja also proved to be a disappointment. Am wondering if I am seeing new players or the experienced ones have forgotten to bat. 124 is a shame!

It is not right to blame the lower order batsmen, when the top and middle order failed. Virat Kohli made a total of 38 runs in 4 innings (at an average of 9.50). Compared to that, players such as Vihari and Jadeja did much better. Vihari totaled 86 runs from 4 innings and Jadeja averaged 25. The weak top order was the reason why India got whitewashed.
